Hmm, only 16.95? There's gotta be something up, otherwise that's a great deal.

Save your money.
It'll tell you build a box, put a TV in it upside down, place a frensel lens in front of it, and add a light to the entire contraption to make up for the loss of brightness.

Interesting, but playing games on it would expose a lot of graphical errors and deficiencies in games wouldn't it? I have noticed that after I went from a 19" to 32" TV that although most games looked great, a lot had much more noticeable jaggies and such.

I fell for this scam about 6 years ago. It was kinda cool though. It was infact instructions on taking two magnifying lenses, a box, and a tv.
First of all, the TV had to be turned upside down, something I wasn't going to do to most of my TVs. Second, the projected image is BACKWARDS! How are you supposed to play video games on that? The image though did look cool projected onto my ceiling, but I had to have all the lights off.
A fun project to try, but not worth spending the money to get the instructions.

Wow, I am checking out the website the OP linked to, and it looks like they have the maginfying product already built. Like I said, mine was backwards, but it COULD work. Hell, I spent $20 on drinks for my friends at a club the other night. I might have to buy it...

I don't think that's the finished product. It looks to be in HD resolution. Do they expect you to flip a HDTV upside down.

I am thinking that it works like a telescope (like the other home made kits), but those you have to buy all the parts yourself. This sounds like a complete kit (not like my cardboard and ducttape mess). I live in a small apartment, so I am guestimating that the largest picture I can get from this would be a 90" image. I would have to rearrange furniture though.
The one I made, I used a 9" NEC monochrome (green) monitor, and two of those magnifying lenses that are the size of a sheet of paper. I cut up some cardboard, and used ducttape. You had to adjust everything to make it focus. The image came out upside down, and backward...since it was a small tv, and I had horrible wallpaper at the time, I projected it onto my ceiling. I had above me a 50" green Conan O'Brian. It was kinda cool, but since it was backwards, no good for video games. The pictures of how this thing works shows things displayed properly.
It could work.
Maybe even in time for Halo 2.

That is why I'm thinking they have a single lense that lets you keep your tv right side up. It could be the image from a 32" HD TV.
It just bothers me that the guy on the top of the page looks like a 70s child molestor.

I can run the TV image into my PC monitor with my All-In-wonder card, and I think I'm pretty sure I can flip it upside down onscreen (virtually, not physically)... I wonder if I can invert is as well...

By the way, search for these online. Someone has shared plans for his own set-up, no one need order the plans. I'd have attempted this myself a while ago, but have not come across the fresnel page magnifiers my plans call for. I haven't really tried to seek them out yet, either.

I actually did this with my roomates 13 inch tv. We actually opened his tv and switched the x and y axis... its not that complicated ( but do not recommend beginers to try that) so the image flips and you don't need to put your tv upside down. The draw back is that the TV does not emit enough light to make the image clear enough. You do need all the lights out, and a high quality lense. Its like a blurry big screen tv. we tried to watch football games on it.. but it just wasn't worth it in the end.

With this particular site, they include the lense, I don't know what else it includes. It refers to it as a "kit", not "plans", so perhaps it is all the parts you need

The thing I really don't get about this is how it isn't reversed. From my experience with this, the captions will be reversed.
And also, they keep claiming it will only take an hour to assemble? ONLY? An hour is along time for something, it took me less time to build my Ikea wardrobe.
I have an extra 9" color tv though. So building this contraption, setting the distance of the lense correctly, and making a perminent object that I am comfortable turning up side down...and getting a 50" picture at least...it is still tempting...I might buy this tonight.

You don't have to worry about turning your tv upside down. Just put the tv in the box the normal way and turn your house upside down. Easy!
