That does look pretty nifty. And I am so glad it has nothing to do with Dairy Queen.

I also thought it was Dairy Queen at first! I thought you get one by buying a Blizzard or something.

How much are they charging for it?

To import? Around 35, plus shipping. If you're already in Japan it will run $30.

Awesome. They shouldn't have any problems playing on an American PS2, right? Also, do you think they'll be in short supply 'cause I usually don't buy controllers when so many awesome games are coming out so I probably won't be able to get it till Christmas.

I need to get one. I use it when I play DQVIII. Come to think of it, when I was in Japan this summer I bought DQV and when I came home I opened it but never played it. What am I doing?

Mine came to about $50 shipped. $35 for the controller and $15 shipping.

They should work fine with US PS2s. As for short supply, I've got to believe they'll end up fairly rare. Japan is literally insane about Dragon Quest games, plus it's for a limited time. Unless they decide to keep making these after the game is out they're probably going to sell out and that's it.

Yeah, that's awesome. I want one, but now bad enough that I'm willing to pay $35 for it. At least, not until I get more money.

Indeed, good news. :)
I don't know about spending $40 to get it, though. Perhaps I'll try trading for it if someone gets it and doesn't like it. :-P

what is this? a controller they ACTUALLY worked on? instead of just painting a slime on a regular duel shock?

Awesome. I'm playing dragon warrior for nes now and i'm loving the support they are giving this American version of the 8th game. I heard the localization is awesome and that they vastly improved the menus for the English release. Ishelled out $60 for the Japanese controller for my wife as a christmas gift and she loved it. I'll have to buy a US one so we can actually play with it
Isnt this the controller that outsold Halo 2 in Japan?

Offering a friendly bump with the news that GameStop now offers this as well (for those that want theirs tax and shipping free)...

I'll probably get one if it ever drops in price. I know it'll just sit in my room and never get used but that thing looks really cool.
BTW, there is actually a law in Japan that Dragon Quest games can't be released on weekdays. So many people would call in sick that I imagine it would have a noticeable impact on the economy. I wonder if Americans will ever get that crazy for a video game?

I wonder if the price will drop on these like they did with the Street Fighter controllers at GameStop. I think I'll pick one up a little later on. I don't see them selling out fast.

What you said.
And that controller is just freakin' awesome. So happy it's getting an American release, but kind of expensive though.

It's a little too expensive for my tastes, but when it comes down to about $20 or so, I'll make sure to grab one. :)
$40 is a little high for my taste for something that will just collect dust.
