You are dead on about Coraline. I bought it for my wife, but I won't lie, it is one of my favorite Blu Rays based on picture quality alone. Not to mention, the movie isn't bad either. Although, I still hate Dakota Fanning.

yes i mentioned it in my above post. It's a $9.99 and under thread. I only have to go through 6-10 pages to find all the $9.99 and under titles. I have to go through an additional 50 pages to find all the $10.00 even titles. So it would take me a lot of time to keep the $10.00 even list updated. If I see there is a big $10 sale I might post a list of them as a reply, or I might do that once a month, but it's not something I'm going to update regularly like the $9.99 list.

They have been under $9.99 for awhile but I haven't been adding them. I said in my original post that I'm mainly focusing on major movies like stuff that was in theaters. Occasionally I'll post other big name movies if I think people will be interested but I won't be listing most of the sci-fi channel movies and things like that. Way of War I've been contemplating adding since people might want to see that for the price. The version of the Ten Commandments is a newer one from a couple years ago not the Charleton Heston version or I would of added it. Thanks for the suggestions.

If you have not seen Behind The Mask: Rise of Leslie Vernan you should check it out, it is an interesting take on horror movies. Due to the fact it is somewhat low budget it might not warrant a buy on blu-ray although I think it is very good. Maybe netflix it if you have a chance to see though.

It's decent... The Terminator was never really expected to be that important a movie and thus the prints were never taken very good care of.

It's acceptable, HD makes the special effects look more outdated tho. The scene where Arnold is taking his eyeball out looks worse than I remember in the regular DVD.

1: From what I've read, not the best transfer, but the movie is pretty damn old and could use a remaster. Not that bad though.

2: Suffers from compression artifacts (?) due to MPEG 2 encode; also has a low bitrate I think

2 Skynet Ed: Has had a thick coat of DNR applied, removing an abnormal amount of film grain.

3: Again, another poor encode, but not as bad as 2.

4: Nothing


If I'm wrong on any of those, someone feel free correct me; it's been awhile since I looked into them.

keeping a master list in the original post of this thread helps a lot, and since its in alphabetical order now that helps quite a bit too. I go to Amazon.com go to the the blu-ray section and on the side there is a button that says $10-$15(there is an under $10 section that gives you $9.99 and under but that eliminates half of the list that is price pointed at $10.00 even). After you click that button there will be a button on the side that says $5-$10 and one that says $10-$15. If you click the $5-10 button you get everything that is $10.00 and under without having to sift through everything that is $10.49, $10.99 etc.

After I have the $10.00 and under list pulled up I put the masterlist from the original post in word pad. As i look at the $10 and under section on Amazon if i see the title on my master list i delete it. If i see a new title that isn't on the list i write it down on the bottom. Once i click through the entire list on Amazon whatever is left on the master list in word pad are the titles that are no longer $10 and under and they become the removed list. I then put those titles in the search box to see what their new price point is and place that next to their name on the removed list.

I then edit the original post removing any titles that are no longer $10 and under, and add the new titles into the list keeping it in alphabetical order to keep later updates easy. I then post a reply to the thread with the removes and adds.

Ah, you may be surprised to see this, but there is a way of adding all the $10.00 movies to the under $10 movies.

When you go to the under $10 section, at the top of the address bar there will be a whole bunch of gobbledygouk.

I prefer the extended cuts, but $24 for the theatrical versions is just a great deal. That is what one extended version will end up costing on Blu-Ray. And it can tide you over till the extended ones finally come out.

Holy crap, that is awesome! I read this thread occasionally but I'm never too impressed with the oddball blu-rays that are $9.99. I mean, some of them I might want to watch but probably only once meaning I don't even want to spend $10 on them. Getting the LOTR movies for $7.99 each, though, is incredible. Yeah, I'd prefer the extended cuts but they won't be this cheap for a long time so I figured I'd get these in the mean time. In 5-10 years when the extended cuts are out and then discounted, I'll get them.

I haven't even opened my extended DVD set of ROTK yet (and I bought it when it first came out).

But it has been a long time since I watched these. So long, in fact, that my two younger boys are now old enough to watch them. When I saw them originally in the theater I could only bring my oldest daughter. Now all 4 of us can watch them in HD at home. I just have to get the sound system setup now - but this is some incentive to do that!

Gahhh I'm really torn on the LOTRs

You can always sell them when the Extended Versions come out. There's no date for them, so that likely gives you at least a year to enjoy the theatrical Blu-Rays.

i was gonna try and risk it and see if they honor the price... if not than you can pick up each at $8... but you'd have to pay tax... :(

I've yet to see anyone say that the Time Bandits transfer wasn't complete junk. Even at $5.99, I'm passing on it.

Princess Bride is a must-have, though it's one of my favorite movies. Especially at $9, it's worth a pick-up.

I dunno, I asked my wife about it and she said my daughter likes it and it is something I definitely would not like. I'll trust her judgement ;).

I did end up buying the Harry Potter set. $6.66 per movie was just a bit too tempting.

As for trying to get that Target ad mistake pricing, I seriously doubt they will honor that. Even if they do, it isn't worth the $16 savings over the Amazon price for all 3 to brave Target early in the AM on Friday and wait in line for 2-4 hours... If they do honor it, it will be gone instantly I would imagine, so you'd probably have to line up before they open.

FWIW, they already shipped my 3 LOTR discs with estimated delivery on Wednesday! That is awesome - we can have a movie night Weds already!
