If recently means over 3 months ago, then yeah, it was me who signed up for a free subscription. Oh well, I guess you really do get what you pay for. I still haven;t gotten Gamepro yet either, or anything else that was free. DARN IT !

I got the same letter, and I'm pretty sure I got one from GamePro as well. Just wait until the free DVD letters come in...

Yeah I never got my Gamepro, but not like it is a big deal. The digital version still is just as good. Save yourself some space from that magazine, you could make a folder and save your issues. Save it on a CD and have years worth of content in it. Hmmm maybe I should change my subscription to digital...I dunno I like getting snail mail.

I got that as well. A letter and an e-mail, both on the same day. If they think I'm paying for anythnig, they can think again!

Looks like there really is no such thing as a free lunch (or shitty magazine).

I got the letter too. I'm not going to take them up on it. There are so much better sources to get the very same news and information light years sooner, especially if I'm going to have to go on the intarweb thingy anyway.

holy crap, you have to download a 14MB reader program just to get the digital issues. DIALUP SUCKS ! Couldn't they just do PDF like normal people? JEEEESH.

So you have to d/l a program just to read it? That sort of sucks, but I remember using the digital for Gaming Industry News and it was a PDF file.

Well, they go into a My Magazine folder in "My Documents", and you can just keep your issues there and click on the one you want. They are searchable, you can zoom in on an article. On the index page, you just click on the article you want and it turns to the page. It actually turns pages too, just dosen't pop to a different screen. the will never get torn or wringled. I like it.

I don't remember why, but for some reason, I have a 6-month subscription to Computer Gaming Monthly. I just got the April issue.

I actually downloaded it and got the issue. It's pretty cool actually. It's kinda annoying though having to zoom in and out, but it's not bad. A hard copy would still be much better.

You can't read a digital file on the can (sorry not taking my laptop to the pooper) so no dice.

I agree, the only reason I subscribe to magazines is for something to read on the crapper. Digital just ain't gonna cut it.

I keep my old grey Game Boy with Tetris near the crapper. Good times.

I have gotten EGM, i guess it was from Freebizmags. They obviously have a limited number of subs to give out--I'm not expecting any dvd from them either.
Digital mags: I don't think they're all there yet. I think this could be quite cool for a business environment, a professional magazine [the ones that run hundreds of dollars for a sub], and popular with officeworkers, but for 'entertainment,' not yet. Most of the ones I've tried require some obnoxious, resource-heavy proprietary reader program. They're not easy to navigate, and, yes, you can't take them to the 'library' [ours currently have at least 80 magazines in them.]
If they were in PDF form, they'd be slightly more attractive; or if they used the interface that the Complete Mad Magazine cd-rom set used, I could deal with that.
But imho, e-books and e-mags are a cool idea, whose time has not yet come.

Right exactly. That's the only purpose these magazines have. For real game information and reviews, just go to Gamespot.
