Last weekend I picked up a Wii at the local pawn for $90. It was a fairly good deal in my opinion... a motion plus, 2 GB card, 1000 points plus about 7 downloaded games were included so you can't really beat the price. There is one slight problem though; I noticed that there are these vertical flickering black streaks that show up... it kind of looks like a film grain. It's only really noticeable on the home screen, but it is nagging me a bit. Does anyone know what the problem here is? I was wondering if I had a bad AV cable or if this might be a system issue, unfortunately google wasn't much help.

Try a different TV/Different set of cables. That will tell you what it is.

I dont know how old it is, but you could try to extend the warranty via club nintendo (register it, plus get your free 10 pts / game)... then send it in for repairs.

Thanks, although I was hoping there was a possible diagnosis before I had to shell out for cables! I'm also a bit screwed on registration, since I already registered a wii last year to my club nintendo account.

Set up a "family account" and try to register on that one. Thats an easy fix.

As for cables, don't know a single person with a wii? You may be able to take it to gamestop for a "trade in".... tell them that there's a problem with it and you want to know if it's the cables... they may have a set of used wii cables they will let you try in store (if they arent busy)
