I still don't understand what makes this movie so special as to where it comes out on a Friday as opposed to the normal Tuesday.
My Hastings already had some behind the counter. not selling 'em yet, though.

Can't you get it for free if you test drive a Kia?

Two words for ya... The Incredibles. Dreamworks did the same thing when Monsters Inc hit theaters (they released Shrek 1 the same day). Didn't really do much damage, people bought the DVD then went to the theater to see "Monsters Inc."
Hopefully that explains it to you.

Now that's smart. Double the profits. Shrek 2 will sell a truckload, and I've been wanting to see The Incredibles.
I wonder if there's some sort of Incredibles thing in there, such as a ticket to go see the movie or whatnot..

Uhhh... dude, hate to break it to you but... Dreamworks is NOT related to Disney.

Where did I say it was?
EDIT: Whoops. It's a Disney/Pixar thing. I thought Pixar split from Disney.. must've been Dreamworks.. I dunno. Thanks for the correction, though, my fault.

Yeah and they've actually improved the safety for them quite a bit, infact I'm actually tempted to buy one.

Pixar is splitting from Disney, but they are still under contract with them to do one more movie after The Incredibles.
When Dreamworks had a hit with Shrek a little rivalry began to emerge between Pixar/Disney and Dreamworks. As previously mentioned, Shrek was purposefully released on the same day Monster's Inc. was in the theatre in the hope they could cost Disney some ticket sales. As previously stated, it didn't exactly work :) .
Flash forward a bit and Dreamworks has a set release date of November 5th for Shark Tales, and it has been that for several months. Then along comes Disney and says, "were going to release The Incredibles on Nov. 5th too." Dreamworks knows they can't compete with the Pixar name so they are forced to re-arrange their schedule and move the film (and marketing, promotions, merchandise) back about a month.
In response, Dreamworks is releasing Shrek 2 on dvd on November 5th to try to take ticket sales away from the Incredibles.

Kias are actually made by Hyundai now, so theyre not too bad.
What an effort though, it's better to just buy the damn thing.

A little off-topic, but does anyone find it a little odd that on the Shrek 2 DVD case, it says "#1 Comedy of all time"?

I think it is because of this.

Best Buy also has it listed for $15.99 on their website. Wal-Mart has it for $17.88 or so.
Looks like CC or BB will be the place to go to get it.

Best Buy also has the free bonus DVD-ROM with purchase but the description of what is on it sounds really lame (some Counting Crows live performance, weblink, and some kiddie stuff). No big deal to miss out on that.

when I went to do it, they took down my info and gave me the coupon to get it... no test drive needed.
I just said I saw that you get Shrek 2 if I test drive your car. He said you probably aren't looking for a car. I was like yea. He then just gave me the coupon.

Does the coupon give you a choice of what screen format you want? Or are they just going to force the P&S down everyone's throat? I'm interested in how this is being handled, as this might be the only way they could get people to walk off with the P&S is by giving it away for free.

Didn't Shrek 2 kind of suck (as opposed to the first one)? I mean it was nothing more than a bunch of animated pop culture references strung together with no real story to fall back on. In 10 years no one is even going to remember why people thought it was funny because the events that it spoofs will have been long forgotten....
