I just seen, Dawn of the Dead on DVD. I thought it was pretty good. I really didn't have a chance to view the bonus features though, I had to take the movie back to Hollywood Video. Anyone else liked the movie?...

I haven't watched the 1979 remake. I didn't have time tonight. It was a decent movie, though.

I watched it again tonight. I saw it in the theater, and loved it. I bought it yesterday.

Yeah, I think it's worth purchasing. I'm guessing the Widescreen version of Dawn of the Dead (Unrated Director's Cut), is the one to get...

I am a long time fan of the old one. Its one of the best horror movies ever made in the history of horror movies. I havent seen the new one but I heard good things about it.
Still, I can't vote till I see the new version.

ALWAYS get widescreen. It's just common sense. I'll never understand full screen.

I actually enjoyed both alot, but seeing as how I saw the original first I gotta vote for it.

Me too. Actually, funny story: I bought it twice. See, I ordered some stuff for in store pickup, along with this movie, before it came out. Being unavailable for pick up, it switched to shipping. Now here's where the funny part comes in. I had my sister's address in my bestbuy.com account, having recently ordered a belated birthday gift for her and that's the address it used. I didn't bother to check, and she ended up calling me asking if I had bought her a dvd. I just said "Happy Halloween" and ordered another.

The new movie is pretty good. There are some really cool shots in it, particularly with the crowds of zombies lurking outside the mall. Still the original kicks its ass simply for the social commentary. Well that and the kickass biker gang roaming around taking what they want.

yeah it was a good movie, the extras were pretty cool also. There was a video about Andy (gunshop guy) last day. He had like a videocamera in his store. Another cool extra was this news report thing where they were showing you behind the scenes of what was going on around the world. SEGA128DC, you should watch the extras if you didnt return it to your videostore already.

Speaking of extras, did anyone else purchase the UE of Dawn of the Dead (1979) when it came out in September(?). Two great, large documentaries, 3 cuts of the film, 3 commentary tracks, well worth the price of admission.
And I agree, the re-make was pretty good, but just a little messy in terms of storytelling, this was most likely due to the fact that this was the director's first feature film.

I've only seen bits and pieces of the original, and thought that the remake was somewhat decent.

If your talking about the original Dawn of the dead then it's an ok movie. I went in expecing alot since it seems to get so much hype on the internet. But then the ending was so poor and they didn't take full advantage of being in the mall. I was expecting them to have more cabin fever or trying to figure a way to kill the zombies.
And the ending was so lame, I was glad then the people got killed.
SPOILERS!!!!!
I'm glad when the hilcopter pilot died, anyone dumb enought to try to attack 30 bikers solo with a hunting rifle should be killed.

I saw both movies....I think I like the 2004 remake a bit better. I guess it was just more updated and flowed a bit better.
The original was good though also....I liked it much better than Day of the Dead for sure

I like the original more, I am just kind of tired of the post "28 Days Later" zombies. I think they were a bit scarier when they were more.... Zombie like, the whole super human speed is getting a bit old.
