Say hello to one of the most underrated wrestlers ever
http://img73.exs.cx/img73/1638/Tenta.jpg
The Earthquake still is one of my all-time favorite "bad guys". As many of you may know, John Tenta is currently going through chemotherapy treaments for his cancer. Cancer is something that hits very close to home for the Horse, so I felt that John Tenta was worthy of carrying on the new wrestling topic. I was very tempted to do a tribute to one of the many wrestlers that recently passed away; however, I decided to instead raise awareness for one of the greats while we still have him.
Enough of the Horse's jibba-jabba though; most of you know how this runs, this is the topic to discuss all wrestling related issues. The Razor Ramon topic made it over 500 posts, so let's see if we can keep this one clean and get to another 500.
Oh, by the way, you can still revisit Razor Ramon (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=23555&start=0) anytime you like, just in case you miss him, or need to get caught up.

Earthquake was definetly a good heel back in the days with his fued with Hogan. It was great when he would jump up and down before he did his finisher.

I don't recognize the name but he does look familiar. Did he ever wrestle under a different alias?

Tenta wrestled as Earthquake in wwf, then as Shark Attack in wcw, then he returned to the wwf and wrestled as part of the "Human Oddities" he was Golga, the guy who wore the mask and the cartman shirt.

Also, look at Demolition. Is it just me or do they look like they have an S and M thing going on? Early pre-cursor to the Bashams (with Shaniqua) perhaps?

Earthquake was pretty awesome, great at being a bad guy. I was so pissed off at him when he crushed Jake's snake. WrestleFest is one of my favorite games of all time, BTW,.

Wow, That brings back some memories.
I loved hating Quake. When is wrestling gonna remember it's roots? The shock value has worn off. Am I alone in saying that I miss WCW?

No your not. WWE became lame. I usually just watch TNA now.

Umm, no. There are a LOT of folks that miss WCW, myself included, just so that there is a "real" alternative to WWE (I think TNA is too low budget to be considered a true different choice)...

WCW was awesome. Eric really knew what he was doing in the early days. I think he needs to be an underdog to do a show justice.

i too loved the wcw/wwf feud...nothing like the good ol' days of flipping back and forth in between....it seems wrestling has lost some of its steam since then.

Eh, I wouldn't give Eric Bischoff that much credit. I think he had gotten to the point where he was trying anything to compete with McMahon. There were a lot of terrible storylines prior to the nWo angle, that I'm sure Bischoff had a say in. The nWo just came around at the perfect time, Vince McMahon was left vulnerable because of his steroid trial, and Ted Turner was snatching all of his best talent left and right. The Hogan heel-turn is definitely what made it, because that was definitely giving the fans "something they had never seen before"; if Vince ever wants ratings to go back up that's what he has to do. I really like Randy Orton, and think he's great, but c'mon we saw this a few years ago when the character was called The Rock.

Yeah, I loved the old Wrestlefest and Superstars games.
TNA is okay (provided HHH, I mean Jeff Jarrett isn't on the air with his title) but I just can't get used to that six-sided ring. I wish Univision would show some Lucha Libre. I caught a talkshow on there once and they had a few Luchadores giving a mini-match.

I remember seeing a website a few years ago that was all about Ax or Smash (I think it was Smash). It was his own site and since he was really hard up for money, he had all his championship belts up for sale. I think they were around $5,000 each.

Not to quibble, but a few clarifications:
1) It was Demolition Ax
2) He was selling his WWF tag team belt for $15,000
3) He would dress up as Ax and hand deliver the belt to the buyer.
I don't recall him actually selling it. Odd, that.

As for Raw tonight, so far so good. I'm not really into this monster push they're giving Snitsky, but what the hell does WWE have to lose these days anyway. I do like the direction they're going in with this locker room vs Evolution angle. I just hope that Evolution loses, so we can start to phase them out. While HHH is great, he just needs to step out of the spotlight for awhile. That's what made WWE so successful in the late 90s & early 2000s; they had Austin, and then Rock stepped up, followed by Foley, plus you had the Undertaker main eventing, and they were bringing up HHH too. Variety, the spice of life and the ingredient missing from current WWE programming.
Hmm... I do wish Benoit & Edge would've held the titles though. Could've been like Sting & The Giant/Big Show were a few years ago. Yes, I understand the irony of wanting to see an old angle re-done, but it was a good one, and how great would it have been to have had the tag team champions on opposite sides of a Survivor Series match!

WWE RAW Report
Aired LIVE! From Peoria, Illinois
November 1st, 2004
Reported By: The Worm, rajah.com RAW reporter
Man, how I love doing the RAW report. Gotta give a shout out to everyone who emailed me their support and compliments last week after the Indichet incident. I’ll post some of the things that people had to say after the show.
RAW kicks off by recapping the events of Evolution vs. the RAW Locker Room where Triple H finally gets what had been coming to him since Evolution’s inception after he screwed Randy Orton out of getting any World Heavyweight title shots. It’ll be interesting to see what tonight has to offer and what Triple H may or might not do to gain his revenge after what happened to him.
Match #1 (Hardcore) - Gene Snitsky vs. Eugene:
Looks like Snitsky’s ripping off Raven’s gimmick where Raven would bring in a bunch of weapons in a shopping cart. However, Snitsky is bringing in a bunch of weapons in a baby stroller.
Before Eugene heads out to his match, Regal stops him backstage and explains to him what a Hardcore match is and he feels Eugene doesn’t understand what he’s getting himself into. Regal wants to accompany him to the ring, but Eugene wants to do it on his own.
Eugene looks scared, but Snitsky won’t let him into the ring. Eugene pulls him out, but Snitsky clubs down on his back and tosses him back in. Eugene chants quickly fire up. Eugene goes to work on Snitsky with a kendo stick and then exchanges it for a chain. Snitsky takes the chain away and goes to work on Eugene with it.
He rips Eugene’s face with the chain and then as Snitsky goes to hog-tie Eugene, Eugene takes a sign and hits him in the head with it. It doesn’t affect Snitsky, so he grabs a strap and laces it across Eugene’s back. Snitsky picks up a “No Babies” sign and holds it up to the crowd to see and then nails Eugene with it.
Snitsky body slams Eugene onto a “Slow Children” sign and then exits the ring to grab a steel chair. Snitsky threatens to crush Eugene’s throat, in which Eugene responds by nailing him in the face. He gets up and hits him in the gut with the chair followed by several shots with the strap. Eugene is getting all fired up as he nails Snitsky again with the chair, but is stopped as Snitsky delivers a boot to Eugene.
Snitsky connects with the pumphandle slam on Eugene onto the Slow Children sign and the match is over.
Winner: Gene Snitsky
Snitsky fits the chair around Eugene’s throat, and before he can stomp down on it, Regal comes out and chases Snitsky off. Regal wants Snitsky to bring it on, but Snitsky continues his way back up the ramp.
We then see Triple H and says he was attacked by a large number of RAW superstars. It was an attack that can only be classified as one of jealousy and envy. To anyone involved: did I do the right thing when I attacked the champ? Did I do the right thing when I attacked the most popular superstar in the world today? (Bullshit..I can name wrestlers who are and will always be more popular than Triple H). Triple H isn’t going to be on RAW tonight, since he wants to see how RAW will do without the franchise player. Next week, Triple H wants to be treated with respect and he wants attitudes to change, otherwise Evolution will change them for them. He ends the speech by saying RAW is nothing without Triple H as we go to commercial.
WWE Smackdown vs. RAW and the new WWE Divas magazine will be out tomorrow, featuring Christy Hemme on the cover. JR and the King introduce us to Maria, the newest member of the RAW announce team. She’s backstage interviewing Tajiri and she wants to know how the locker room feels about Triple H. He says that everyone is mad as hell and they don’t care if they never see him again. Ric Flair shows up and he says that there are no hard feelings from last week, but Batista ambushes him and rams him into some equipment before they head out to the ring.
Flair starts by saying what happened to Tajiri is only the beginning. Last week was unacceptable, whether you like him or don’t like him. You all need to respect Triple H. He is your World Champion, he is the leader of Evolution, and Eric Bischoff, either you restore order with RAW or Dave Batista and Flair will walk back there and destroy the entire locker room (I would love to see them try…they’d be beat down before they can take one step)
Bischoff comes out and he’s there for two reasons: Business and personal. On business side, with Survivor Series in a couple weeks, he wants to announce the RAW card. Shelton Benjamin will be defending his title against Christian, Trish Stratus will be defending her title against Lita, and the main event will be a classic Survivor Series match. One team will consist of Y2J, Benoit, Maven, and Orton. They will be pitted against Triple H, Batista, Edge, and Gene Snitsky.
Flair feels his name was left out by mistake, though that will bring Bischoff to explain his personal side. He liked what happened last week, even though Evolution didn’t. Bischoff liked seeing Eugene getting beat down, and he feels the inmates will continue to run the asylum. Bischoff was waiting for Evolution to show up while he was getting his head shaved, but they were nowhere to be found. Bischoff says that after kissing Evolution’ s ass for two years, it got him nothing, so Bischoff is going to listen to no one except him. Bischoff is going to take a month off, but the team who wins at Survivor Series will gain total control of RAW.
Batista interrupts by saying that if Jericho’s team wins, they’re only going to make championship matches for themselves. Batista strongly suggests that Bischoff reconsider the stipulation. Bischoff strongly suggests that he concentrate that his team is the winning team at Survivor Series. Triple H may say that without him RAW is nothing, but Bischoff feels that without the World title, Triple H is nothing. Now it’s time for the next commercial break.
The WWE Rewind features Shelton Benjamin celebrating his victory last week against Chris Jericho, only to be attacked by Captain Charisma himself.
Match #2 (Singles) - Christian vs. The Hurricane:
Maybe Shelton will interfere and Hurricane will be on the receiving end of a push. He deserves a push, he doesn’t deserve to be a jobber.
They lock up and Hurricane locks in a headlock. Christian Sucks chants and before the match can get too far underway, we are interrupted by Edge. Edge has not only new pyro, but also new music. Edge has decided to come back to RAW, and plugs his brand new book, “Adam Copeland on Edge". The book will be out tomorrow and the crowd cheers and it seems like I heard some short boos. The match is still going on as Edge speaks, but Edge drolls on about what he likes, his dislikes (like Peoria), his dreams, etc.
I’ll get back to the match when Edge shuts up, but Edge talks to JR and calls him a grumpy grandpa. Edge gives JR an autographed copy of his book and he says JR always had a soft touch for him. We’re back to the match, finally, with Hurricane connecting with a neckbreaker on Christian. Hurricane goes up top and connects with a cross body, he goes for the pin but Christian kicks out.
Hurricane goes for the Shining Wizard, but Christian ducks and tosses him into the turnbuckle. Christian connects with the Unprettier and a Hurricane push has been denied.
Winner: Christian
Post-match, Shelton runs down to the ring, and Christian high tails it out of there. Christian doesn’t wanna face Shelton tonight, and with Tomko hurt, he has a one night only problem solver and HOLY SHIT! Viscera’s back! Christian and Viscera beat the hell out of Shelton Benjamin, and Viscera delivers a front slam to end the punishment. Christian stands over Shelton and taunts him while Shelton writhes in pain as we go to commercial.
We see The Grish and he is interviewing Edge. Edge is back better than ever and he’s ready to defend the tag titles with Chris Benoit. Benoit shows up on the scene and Edge takes his title. Benoit wonders who he is, and Edge says he’s got an autobiography coming out and he should be the World Champion, not tag champion. He says Benoit better watch himself or he might defending the titles by himself.
Maven is walking backstage and he enters Evolution’s locker room. Maven reminds them of what happened last week, and before Evolution can say anything, he’s joined by Chris Jericho and Randy Orton. Jericho offers to let them take on the locker room right now. Orton says that if they win, Evolution might not have a future and we go to commercial. I’m gonna go get something to eat, so hopefully I don’t miss anything.
Coming back to RAW, I see that Simon Dean has made his official debut, but he’s doing a live infomercial. He picks a guy out of the crowd and pretty much makes fun of him. He then does the same to a woman in the crowd, and she flips him off..and then you can hear her say “bite me". He picks more people out of the crowd, with one guy wanting to go after him. Security restrains him, but Simon Dean lets him in. The guy’s name is Matt. Simon Dean wants him to take off his shirt so he can demonstrate how his Simon System works. Matt eventually gets pissed off and shoves Simon Dean down, and trashes his table. Simon Dean takes him down and gets him into a crossface-type manuever as we go to commercial.
We’re back on RAW and The King plugs the Juicebox media player and it’s time for our next match.
Match #3 (Tag Title) - Edge & Chris Benoit © vs. La Resistance:
As Benoit enters the ring, La Resistance ambushes him. Rob Conway is the legal man in the ring and he sends Benoit into the corner and the two begin to exchange blows. Conway is whipped, and Benoit hits him with a forearm. Benoit delivers a back suplex followed by a backbreaker. Grenier tries to get involved, but Benoit fights him off. Conway takes down Benoit and tags in Grenier. They miss a double team manuever, and Benoit delivers German suplexes to both men. Edge then decides to come out, and Benoit is distracted by him allowing La Resistance to attack.
Grenier hits knees to the gut of Benoit and then stomps away at him. Benoit blocks a vertical suplex and delivers a snap suplex. Edge decides to let Benoit defend the titles on his own and leaves the ring as we go to commercial.
When we return, Grenier is in control of Benoit and Edge has joined the announce team. They double team Benoit and the King and Edge discusses Edge’s new book. Conway is now the legal man and he has Benoit in a chinlock. Benoit fights out of it and delivers an enziguiri to Conway. Conway tags in Grenier and Grenier drops an elbow.
Benoit comes back with a clothesline and then chops away at him. Benoit delivers a snap suplex and does the same to Conway when he tries to get involved. Conway is tossed out and he connects with the rolling Germans on Sylvain Grenier. Both men are down and Benoit gets up. He signals for the flying headbutt and Edge feels Benoit needs help. Benoit connects with the headbutt and he is distracted by Edge. Benoit locks on the Crossface on Grenier, but Conway breaks it up. La Resistance connect with the Au Revoir and they’re once again the World Tag Team Champions.
Winner: La Resistance
Post-match, Edge steals the belts back and nails Benoit with one of them. He then tosses the belt back to La Resistance. Benoit is bleeding and Edge goes to open the wound even more. Benoit pulls himself back up and the two exchange blows. Edge spears Benoit and calls him an SOB. Benoit once again gets up, causing Edge to come back in and lay another beatdown on him. Edge puts Benoit in a crossface, but it looks more like a choke. Benoit taps out to his own move and Edge leaves the ring as we go to commercial.
We see The Coach and Bischoff talking when he is interrupted by Ric Flair and Batista. Flair thinks Bischoff’s crazy for creating the stipulation for the Survivor Series match. Flair demands he revoke the stipulation, but the answer is no. Bischoff wants to give the power back to the superstars, but Evolution wants Bischoff to keep his power. He creates a six man tag match between Triple H, Ric Flair, and Batista vs. Jericho, Maven, and Orton. However, Triple H isn’t there tonight. If Triple H shows up, then it’s all good, but if not, then it’s a handicap match.
We then see a Mohammad Hussan vignette and as he says “Praise Allah” the crowd boos. He then turns things over to Khasrow Daivari, who translates what Mohammad just said for his Arab brothers. The announcers plug the Survivor Series matches that have been made so far.
Before we go to commercial, we see Shelton Benjamin’s ribs all taped up and we learn that a match has been made between him and Viscera.
Match #4 (Singles) - Viscera vs. Shelton Benjamin:
Shelton punches Viscera, but Viscera punches him in the ribs and delivers a clothesline. Viscera lifts him up and clubs him on his back. Viscera exposes his ribs and sends Shelton into the turnbuckle. Viscera follows it up with an avalanche and then as Shelton is laying on the mat, Viscera rips the tape off.
Viscera continues to work on his ribs, and as Shelton is whipped, Viscera catches him and delivers a belly to belly suplex. The ref takes the tape off of Shelton as Viscera chokes him on the bottom rope. Viscera puts him in a corner and the two exchange blows. Shelton is in control until Viscera hits him in the throat. He then drops an elbow and Shelton goes back to punching Viscera. Shelton tries to whip Viscera, but Viscera pulls him back and knees him in the ribs.
Viscera tries to splash Shelton, but Shelton drops him into the turnbuckle. Shelton connects with a Stinger splash and as Shelton tries to deliver the T-Bone Suplex, Viscera falls over on him. Shelton kicks out of the pin and we see Christian coming out onto the stage. Viscera tries to finish Shelton off, but Shelton counters it and he’s sent stumbling into the turnbuckle..rather hard, I might add. Shelton Benjamin wins this match with the Dragon Whip.
Winner: Shelton Benjamin
Post-match, Christian goes after Shelton, but when Christian tries to deliver another Unprettier, Shelton counters it and connects with the T-Bone Suplex.
The Smackdown Rebound recaps the Tough Enough challenge and each guy had 20 seconds to tell the Big Show what they think. The Big Show comes out and he body slams each and every one of them. I was kinda hoping to see Big John Studd’s kid make the cut, because I like to see how the kids of legendary wrestlers do in the ring. But anyway, it’s time for another commercial.
The WWE Slam of the Week recaps Trish talking trash to Lita about her looks.
Trish Stratus is on her way out to the ring and man, I love her…but not more than Molly Holly, mind you. It’s amazing that she’s still single…someone has good looking and voluptuous as she is.
Trish talks trash about Lita and how she is the walking Kiss of Death. We see a video package about how everyone Lita has been with always ends up going bye-bye…Essa Rios, The Hardy Boyz, Kane, and Trish fears that her career will be over after her match with Lita at Survivor Series. Speaking of Trish, I hear Playboy wants to do another WWE diva spread…maybe, just maybe, Trish will agree to do it?
Anyway, Lita has come out and attacks Trish, but Gail Kim comes out to make the save. Trish connects with the Chick Kick and that’s it for that segment.
We see another Smackdown Your Vote video package about what the superstars are doing to make sure people get out and vote tomorrow.
The Monster Job of the Week recaps Triple H getting a beatdown from the RAW locker room last week. Time for commercial.
Main Event (Six Man Tag or Handicap?) - Chris Jericho, Maven, & Randy Orton vs. Evolution:
Orton and Batista start this match off and Batista shoves Orton. Orton responds with punches, but Batista grabs him and puts him in the corner. Batista punches him and whips him into the opposite corner, but Orton kicks out and rolls up Batista, but Batista kicks out. Orton sends Batista to the outside and slams his head on the security barrier before throwing him back in.
Orton tries to take Batista down, but Batista is unfazed. Batista slams Orton down and Flair is tagged in. The two exchange blows and Orton is in control as he whips Flair and delivers a back body drop. Orton whips Flair again and delivers a power slam. Orton tags in Jericho and he chops away at Flair. He whips Flair and Jericho delivers a bulldog. He mounts Flair and punches him in the head before lifting him up. Jericho bounces Flair off the corner and puts Flair in the Walls. Batista tries to break it up, but is stopped by Orton and Maven. Jericho tags Orton back in and Flair is on the apron. Orton suplexes him back into the ring and tags in Maven.
Maven goes up top and connects with a high missile dropkick. Maven wants Batista, and Jericho enters the ring. He chops away at Flair and I guess Orton is keeping the ref distracted. Maven chokes out Flair while the ref deals with Batista and then Flair flops.
Jericho is continuing to watch the ref as he delivers a low blow. Jericho goes for the Walls again, but Flair kicks out and sends Jericho into his corner. Flair tags in Batista and he delivers a spinebuster to Jericho. Batista goes for a pin, but Orton breaks it up.
Batista picks up Jericho and puts him in the corner to ram his shoulder into his gut. Batista irish whips Jericho hard into the corner and then chokes him with his foot. Flair is tagged in and he picks up Jericho. Flair chops away at Jericho and then hits him with left and rights. Flair really needs to start wearing a shirt. Jericho is whipped, Jericho ducks and connects with the climbing enziguiri. Both men are down, but Flair tags in Batista and Jericho tags Orton back in.
Orton connects with the dropkick on Batista and then he goes after Flair. Orton delivers a back body drop to Flair and he ducks a Batista clothesline. He connects with a powerslam, but Flair breaks up the pinfall. Orton is whipped, and Batista is kicked in the chest. Jericho & Maven hit a double dropkick on Batista to send him out of the ring.
Batista & Flair decide to leave the ring, and they’re all smiles as Triple H’s music hits, but it’s not Triple H…It’s Tajiri dressed as Triple H! As Flair & Batista are distracted, the face team attack the duo and we see Jericho deliver a springboard dropkick to Flair to send him back out. Maven comes off the top with his finisher on Batista and Jericho follows it up with the Lionsault. Orton signals for the RKO and it connects as he scores the victory for his team.
Winner: Randy Orton, Chris Jericho, & Maven
Post-match, Flair tries to help Batista, but Batista shoves him down and Batista is pissed as we head off the air.
END OF SHOW
Of course, I had to miss it.

Hmm, well there goes T&A... imo Test always sucked, and there really wasn't anything you could do with him. He wasn't good in the ring, or good on the mic, he was just big. Test had a few shots at getting over, like being part of the SMH-HHH marriage ploy, and the whole Testicles thing, but things never worked out because he had no charisma. My question is are Test and Stacy still together? Albert is pretty much the same deal, you can shave him, but that furry bastard underneath will always grow back and Albert never was able to really connect with the fans. Although, I must say I wish they had kept Albert and used him as Christian's problem solver instead of Tyson Tomko, rarely do you see someone botch as many spots in so little time as Tomko, I think only RVD comes to mind, but he's kind of gotten out of that phase. Plus RVD had charisma. Finally, I think the Billy Gunn thing is no surprise, but a bit of a slap in the face. Gunn has been with the WWE longer than anyone except Undertaker as far as I know, and yes that includes JR. I'm pretty sure he came in right before Sparky Plug (Bob Holly). Anyway, it's really Billy's own fault, especially if it's true he's been trying to go to TNA. So, alltogether not a big loss, since none of those 3 were doing anything at the time. I just hope Viscera sticks around for awhile and forms a tag team with Mark Henry when he comes back. That'd be hilarious.

Man, A-Train should have been kept. When he was last on Smackdown, he was awesome IMO. Part of that was due to the fact he was battling Brock Lesnar or teaming with Lesnar and Big Show though. If Test could have stayed healthy, they should have kept him too. Billy Gunn should have bet let go a long time ago IMO. He could never stay healthy and I think this last go around he had some kind of alcohol or drug issue (I am not certain though).

I can't wait till they make a Demolition "classics" action figure set.
Your wish is Jakks command. Taken from http://www.wrestlingguide.com,
"- With the sudden debut of classic two-packs at the expo and then beginning to hit stores the same week, we were all surprised. Expect for the two-pack series to continue. The slated lineup for series 2 of the two-packs is as follows: Bushwackers (Luke and Butch), Demolition (Smash and Crush), and British Bulldogs (Davey Boy Smith and Dynamite Kid). It looks as though Jakks is having troubles with Ax with him not wanting to give up his likeness; reason for the replacement. Just because they can use the name, doesn't mean they can use the appearance. Again, this is all tentative information."
Smash is great, but Crush is kinda eh. They later discuss the possibility of a Demolition 3-pack (some three packs have been developed already, such as a Andre-Jake Roberts-Big John Studd in referee attire set, so it's entirely probable).

Many make the argument that racial stereotypes are a constant in pro wrestling. I would tend to agree, although I would say that I rarely like it (even if it means that we get to see Rob Conway wrestle).
WWE.com lists their introduction as such:
"According to article on parents.wwe.com posted earlier today, WWE is introducing two new Arab-American characters on Monday Night RAW. Muhammad Hassan and Khosrow Daivari are U.S. citizens who have grown up in America. They love their country. However, they now face a new and different kind of relationship with their fellow U.S. citizens as a result of being Arab-American in a United States still struggling with the tragic events of September 11, 2001. RAW will explore the challenges Hassan and Daivari face as Hassan tries to make his mark as a new WWE Superstar under the guidance of Daivari as his manager."
If any of you recall how the WWE worded the introduction of Eugene Dinsmore and Zach Gowen, it is very similarly worded. Essentially, they want you to believe that the WWE will give fair, intellectual storylines regarding the trials and tribulations faced by these characters. If any of you recall how Zach Gowen was shown on TV, and how Eugene currently is, you can see the incredible discrepancies in how the business end of the WWE protrays characters and how the TV end of WWE treats these characters. If you think, even for a moment, that this will be anything but a complete abomination of a storyline and an insult to our intelligence, you are the complete definition of a 'mark.'

The thing is, this stereotype is not just racial it is religious as well. That being said, religion has had a small part in wrestling....
Brother Love
Reverend D'Von and Deacon Batista
Reverend Slick
To a lesser extent...
Kane
Undertaker
Mordecai
The main thing is that those were all either comical (the first three), or over the top (the last three).
It is pretty obvious that they are going with a very "real life" aproach to the Mohammed Hussan angle. That is where the danger is. The only thing comparable is when the Nation of Domination had its run and the recent "militant" angle with Teddy Long using a racial slur against white people. Those had the potential to create unstable atmospheres in the arena and so does the Hussan angle IMO. Remember, Kenzo Suzuki was supposed to come into the WWE as Hirohito an Kenzo wisely told the WWE of the negative impact it would have in Japan. If WWE isn't careful with this angle, they could offend a lot of people.

Gene Snitsky is supposed to be a big dumb lug though. From what I have read, his characters promos are throwbacks to the 1980's on purpose. "When it comes to hardcore, you just have to think of ECW. I mean they had the hardcore matches (in WWE), which were a sorry imitation, and that just basically meant you were going to go tip over the taco stand, or maybe you’d bring a plunger to the ring – that was hardcore."

Say what? Yeah, she was attractive, but I wish I saved tapes of her first few months in WWE. Man, that was off the charts. Even Jackie Gayda probably gave her pointers.
It's funny, I've become less and less inclined to watching the main shows; I much prefer Heat and Velocity. I think it has to do with being able to watch wrestling matches and seeing (1) no interference, (2) a more classic approach to a match, (2) 5-7 minutes minimum, and most importantly (4) no screwjobs or run-ins (or, very, very few). It has a completely different feel than Raw or SD. With all the cleaning going on, I'm worried that Jazz and Rodney Mack will be gone soon.
Anyway, Gail Kim and Chuck Palumbo were both on Heat this week; they even gave Chuckie a new name: "Custom" Chuckie P (he was a muscle car lover or some boring shit). So much for that.
I think the best thing out of the house cleaning will be this: mass open shit-talking about WWE. I love WWE videos, but if I have to watch another wrestler painstakingly talk about how wonderful the company and locker room is, I'm gonna puke. It's the worst sort of contrived propaganda, and I look forward to hearing what some of these nitwits will say unbridled.

At the risk of seeming like I'm gloating, I happened to see a bit of Batista back in his 'leviathan' days, when HWA (Cincinnati) was a developmental group. One public taping (I don't think they taped anything, though) had Sean O'Haire vs. Leviathan. It was, bar none, the worst *men's* match (see how I covered my ass there!) I had ever seen. From that point on, I was bothered that either guy earned a single paycheck in wrestling.

MorbidAngel4Life, the main thing about Tomko is that other than "boring" chants he gets, he doesn't seem to get much reaction out of the crowd compared to other guys. He has a great look though. I'll simply call you a knowledgable fan :D . All of the terms like mark and smark aren't all that important to me. A fan, is a fan, is a fan...thats all that matters.
I had heard of HHH as Terra Ryzing but never actually saw any of his matches in WCW. I think Kevin Nash was named Oz and Vinnie Vegas at one time also. Undertaker was "Mean" Mark Callous. It's neat to see where these guys that are stars today started from.

The WWE has released Rico. We wish him the best in his future endeavors.
– According to Dave Meltzer @ wrestlingobserver.com, two more WWE releases are likely coming later this week. In total, 12 wrestlers have been given their notice and thus far, WWE has announced 10 of those.

Steiner was released awhile back. Did you see some of his matchs versus HHH? Especially the horrid rematch? The guy was winded a MINUTE into the match, and he had trouble picking up HHH. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big steiner fan but he seemed to have quite a bit of trouble wrestling.
The biggest dissapointment release wise for me has been Gail Kim, she was a very good wrestler and she was one hot canadian asian. Rico is pretty dissapointing to because he had talent.
My guess is they are releasing Nunzio and Val Venis next.

With this week seeing ten cuts made to the active roster of wrestlers in WWE, many are wondering, as we've mentioned 100 times, if they will be next. Well, we also reported before that two more cuts were planned, so some of those worrying will be doing so for good reason.
Apparently, the cost-cutting won't stop with the talent releases. Rumors are circulating amongst the wrestlers that WWE may stop paying for wrestler surgeries, and there is some talk that with the lightneing of the two seperate rosters in WWE, it's very possible that the brand extension could be coming to an end.
Keep an eye out for updates on the other two wrestlers who we expect to be officially released within the next few days.

The WWE released Johnny Stamboli, Rodney Mack, Jazz, Gail Kim, Chuck Palumbo and Nidia from their contracts today. We wish them the best in their future endeavors.
As we reported earlier, the WWE locker room is on edge right now. The only explanation given thus far is that all of the firings were financially related.

They've got talent sitting there sucking up the funds. They finally realize that the brand is starting to become crap. With Vince having (basically) no competition, he can do whatever he wants. Remember Katie Vick? Think he would've done that if Nitro was still on the air?
If they're doing this for financial reasons, look for injured people to be cut. I think the only ones on the injured roster right now are Chris Nowinski (expect him to be cut) and Mark Henry. Henry might be down in OVW training, though. Cena and Kane are out filming new movies.
The BEST possible move that I could see: Flip the script on the brand split. Make Raw the primary talent ground and make Smackdown for the developing guys. I'd watch Smackdown more often. Kick off Big Show, Booker T, all three Dudley's, Eddie, Hardcore Holly, Cena, Angle, RVD, and Undertaker to Raw, and give Smackdown Garrison Cade, Henry, Matt Hardy (Face it, when he jumped to Raw, his career died), Maven, Rosey, Hurricane, Sylvain Grenier, Tajiri, Tyson Tomko, Edge and Christian.
It's a good idea, I think. It'd give the main eventers something to fight about.. the developing "not-quite-there" stars could feel proud. Edge and Christian would headline Smackdown, sorta like the "new blood" in WCW's dying days.

I hope Kidman is next. Fuckin' useless, he is. Tho I think it actually will be Nunzio, Akio (was he let go recently too?), Scotty 2 Hotty, or Val Venis. Mark Henry's always on my list, but I think he's got something going on that they have not fired him yet; honestly, if I recall he is one of the highest paid guys on the roster (a move WWE has regretted since day one, and would have gotten out of long ago, if they could).
Good thing they kept people like Heidenreich and Christy (the diva search winner); they even hired one of the other diva search contestants. I wonder how that makes the 'dirty dozen' this week feel. jesus.

Man, now Rico is released!
You know, I wouldn't blame the wrestlers for being mad at all. I love that little redhead Christy Hemme, but the fact that WWE was offering a $250,000 contract for a person with NO wrestling skill is a slap in the face to guys like Rico. I don't blame Christy for that, that is Vince's fault. Also, if there needs to be budget cuts, then Tough Enough should have never had another season. Maven is starting to look better, but the best thing that came from Tough Enough was Nidia and now she is cut! Other than on those two, Tough Enough has been IMO a waste of money that could have been used on people that put years into the business and deserve to be there.

Well, if I may look on it a little differently than I had been...
At least these guys aren't getting the "creative has nothing for you" treatment that people like Chris Kanyon and many others did.
Truly, I despise the booking of TNA, but there is just a severe glut of worthwhile wrestlers now that could skyrocket TNA to national (more than regional) prominence if they (1) killed Dutch Mantel and Jeff Jarrett and (2) booked for a national, and not a southern, audience (but that's just a corollary of (1). Think of the money they could save if they hired wrestlers instead of Hall and Nash.
I'd kill to see most of these guys get a real chance. God only knows the WWE never offered it.

I agree with that. As a wrestler, even he had to realize his "ass" could only get him so over. I honestly think if it wasn't for the Billy and Chuck angle, he would have been gone a long time ago. The man just couldn't stay healthy.

man billy and chick were my favorite tag team...i loved that angle. I give them credit for doing it as well. Hardcore is a big name in smackdown so i hope its not him. shannon moore is good but it might be him. bill demot and nowinsky work of scenes so i doubt it will be them.

WOW... Rico stuns me... the angle with him and Charlie Haas was taking off I thought, until Rico got hurt. Maybe Goldust can return now to be WWE's official homo again. He can help Booker T defeat JBL!
Anyway, TNA has to be drooling over all these new available mid-card WWE wrestlers. If there's two more cuts, look for it to be Nunzio and Chris Nowinski.
Hopefully this does signal the end of the roster split, it only makes sense since Vinnie Mac has basically removed the bottom portion of his roster.
Honestly, I like all these cuts. Basically Vince cut a bunch of crap that couldn't draw for shit. True, I liked Gail Kim, Rico and Chuck Palumbo, but they were all far from being "over" with the fans. Although, I really think that Rico could've got somewhere had they brought him back, but too late now.
The other thing this does, is puts pressure on a lot of the guys to perform better or risk getting the axe themselves. Perhaps the rosters will merge and the WWE will improve now.

Gunn was in hot water with WWE for quite some time, but it seems as what ever personal issues WWE saw with him, TNA either sees past them or will help out with them.
As of now, Gunn is not expected to debut right way. It would be interesting to see what name he uses in TNA, as the name “Billy Gunn” is owned by WWE.

It's interesting to remember how hard it is to recall the sheer unpopularity of tag teams that later became very popular. In particular, BG and Road Dog were thrown together, and for the first few months, people hated it, calling them "Dog-Ass." They, needless to say, were not over.
Then they threw Funk and Jack over the stage in a dumpster, and the rest is history.
APA? It took those two over a year of tagging together to get any recognition. At first, they were simply "Bradshaw and Faarooq," until somehow they became popular; in these guys' cases, I don't think that happened until they split from the ministry (though I may be wrong).
Wrestling's funny like that; somethings take forever to work, so sometimes when I see crap, I understand. Anymore, I expect it.

Here comes Jericho, interrupting A ROCK promo, how dare he? That was just classic. Rock and Jericho going back and forth on the mic was pure gold everytime. I think Goldust and Booker T was my favorite on screen duo though, they had great chemistry, they never had a segment that didn't crack me up. Remember when Goldust dressed up like the Rock... ha ha ha, that was so great, or when Booker T and Goldust "rated the movies" and both showed what they would've done in the Scorpion King? NWA champion Jeff Jarrett (with Scott Hall) vs. Jeff Hardy
Hardy entered first and did a lap around the ring before returning for a ladder. Jeff Jarrett came out alone. They had Jeremy Borash doing the introductions inside the ring with the competitors like a big boxing fight. During the intros, Hardy brought another ladder to the ring.
Jarrett slammed Hardy into the turnbuckles and set up the ladders in the corners, but Hardy whipped him into them. Hardy and Jarrett jockeyed for position with a ladder but Hardy ran him backwards into the corner with it. Hardy tried to slam Jarrett facefirst into the ladder but Jarrett moved his body and ended up landing stomachfirst over it. Jarrett was put inside the Ladder and Hardy hit a legdrop. Hardy put Jarrett into the ladder, that was standing upside down, and grinded the hinges into Jarrett's back. That was original!
Hardy climbed the ladder towards the NWA belt but Jarrett stopped him. Hardy hit a horrible STO. Hardy did a leapfrog over the ladder into a legdrop on Jarrett, who moved. It looked like Hardy hit the ring wrong. Jarrett whipped Hardy into a ladder. He bridged a ladder between the guard rail and the ring. The fans chanted, “Let’s go Hardy” and “Let’s go Jarrett” to each other.
Jarrett used a ladder like a battering ram, knocking Hardy to the floor, bumping the referee at the same time. Jarrett threw Hardy into the ringpost and set up the ladder. Jarrett climbed up but Hardy dropkicked off the top into the ladder. Jarrett bumped into the ring. Hardy dropped Hardy onto the ladder and hit a swanton on Jarrett, who was spread out across it.
Hardy climbed the ladder but Scott Hall hit the ring and pulled Hardy off into the Outsider’s Edge. Hall took a seat at ringside after security warned him not to interfere. Hardy and Jarrett made their way to their feet. Hardy set up the ladders like a catapult and slammed it into Jarrett’s face. The crowd loved that one. The crowd has actually been the best thing on the show, as they have been alive and loud for everything.
Jarrett and Hardy climbed the ladder at the same time and exchanged punches. Hardy pulled Jarrett off with a bulldog/facejam type move to the mat with the ladder tipping over. Scott Hall pulled Hardy out and began beating him on the floor. Hardy rushed back into the ring to tip the ladder with Jeff Jarrett over, with the idea that Jarrett would get crotched on the ropes. Jarrett’s hamstring caught the ropes instead. Jarrett sent Hardy to the floor, where he took out Scott Hall. Hardy did a running dive off a chair in the ring, taking down Hall and Jarrett on the floor.
Hardy pulled out another ladder from under the ring. This one was huge. Jarrett and Hardy brawled on the ladder. It tipped over with both bumping to the aisle, and the ladder landing on the prone Hall. Both men got to their feet and climbed their respective ladders in the ring. One tipped over but Hardy scooted over to Jarrett’s. He flipped over for a powerbomb off the ladder but Jarrett held on, then slipped off.
They brawled on the floor briefly before returning to the ring. He puts a ladder atop of Jarrett and stomps it. Hall tried to hit Hardy with a chair but Hardy kicked it in his face. Hardy hit the Twist of Fate on Hall. Hardy started climbing the ladder as Jarrett tried to get him with the guitar. Hardy kicked him off but Jarrett came back with a chair to the back. Jarrett made his way to the ring as music began to play.
Kevin Nash, grey hair and all, came to the ring with a pair of guitars. He handed on to Scott Hall. Hardy grabbed the belt as Hall hit him with a guitar. Nash then turned on Hardy and hit him as well. Hardy tried to grab the belt in vain but Jarrett finished him off with a third one and he fell off the ladder. Jarrett grabbed the belt and won the match.
Kevin Nash took the mic said that he noted Jeff Hardy was painted green tonight because he was green with envy standing next to Nash in the bathroom. Nash said that they take over like they always do and take all the money. Nash said that all the guys in the back with the one bedroom apartment hoping to make more money should just realize it’s over. He issued an open challenge to anyone in the locker room.
AJ Styles came out to the ring and took out Hall with a Pele Kick. He took Nash down but when he went to hit the Styles Clash on Jarrett, Nash hit him with a big boot. 3 Live Kru hit the ring and brawled with them but Hall hit the Outsider’s Edge on Killings and Nash hit a powerbomb on BG Jammes.
They showed a pair of feet get out of the limo and the leather pants attached to them. Pyro began going off and the lights went off as a version of Randy Savage’s music began playing. He made his way to the ring as security held him back...and the PPV went off the air.

This company looks like WCW did in 1995-1996, you have got to give it up.
I'm glad I decided to order Survivor Series instead.
Something about the tna website headline "Hall and Nash side with Jarrett and shock the world!" shows a sincere disconnect with the audience.
They didn't shock shit. The only thing shocking about that show was the fact that the AMW/XXX match was the worst on the card (though there is justification for that).

Really why not do something different and have Hall & Nash form separate cliques and feud with each other. Although, a new age outlaws vs outsiders match would be pretty cool, even if both teams are now well past their primes.

The following is a press release sent out by WWE:
World Wide Fund For Nature Files Claim For Damages
STAMFORD, Conn., November 8, 2004 – World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. ("WWE") today announced that the World Wide Fund for Nature (the “Fund") filed a claim for damages in the English High Court with respect to its suit initiated in April 2000 against WWE. The original suit alleged that WWE breached its 1994 agreement with the Fund regarding the use of the initials “wwf.” In that suit the Fund sought injunctive relief and unspecified damages for those alleged breaches.
In its recent filing, the Fund seeks actual damages for legal and other costs of approximately $575,000 and further asserts substantial monetary claims in an amount calculated as a royalty based on percentages of certain of our revenue streams. A hearing has been scheduled on the Fund’s claims for January 11, 2005.
WWE strongly disputes that the Fund has suffered any damages, believes that it has strong defenses to the Fund’s unwarranted monetary claims, and will vigorously defend against them.
Since November 2002 WWE has complied with an injunction entered in that suit barring WWE from using its former “wwf” website addresses and its former scratch logo.

I like DDP. I like DDP more b/c in his last WWE match (when he was injured), upon taking a superplex, he landed such that his legs folded over top of him (he landed on his back, essentially bent over). His feet, remarkably, came to a point together and both landed in the same spot upon hitting the mat.
Hardcore Holly's groin. I watched that spot with my old roommate for weeks, laughing our asses, off, not knowing that it was so excrutiating, oddly enough, to DDP.

I'm new too this topic but I'm really digging the TNA right now. I hadn't watched wrestling for a couple years now becasue well, it got boring and they didn't have any exhilarating character anymore like they did with The Rock, Mick Foley, etc. The TNA IMO really seems to have a run at WWE which to me has been lagging something for quite some time now. Savage was schedule to appear on tonight’s Impact! taping. He was originally booked in a match for December’s PPV, Turning Point, in a tag team match with Monty Brown and AJ Styles vs. Jeff Jarrett and The Outsiders.
Savage claimed they had an “unsafe working environment” after his run-ins with Hulk Hogan backstage at Victory Road. Hogan and Savage had a conversation backstage and Hogan offered him to step outside so they can settle their differences. Hogan then asked for their issues to be left in the past and Savage ignored his comments and walked off.

WWE Upgrades to HD With Snell & Wilcox Uses Alchemist Platinum and Ukon standards converters
November 09, 2004
Snell & Wilcox today announced that its standards converters have been selected by World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. (WWE) to facilitate the media and entertainment company’s move toward high-definition (HD) broadcasting. With its purchase of a Ukon universal converter and upgrade of its Alchemist Platinum Ph.C standards converter to include HD outputs, WWE has started its migration to HD broadcasts of its professional wrestling events.
“As a visually exciting spectator sport, professional wrestling is a perfect fit with the level of detail that HD provides,” said Marty Ludwin, senior director of engineering for WWE. “When we decided to make our initial purchases in HD, Snell & Wilcox was our top choice for conversion equipment. The company has a reputation for quality that is second to none and we knew we could trust its systems as we make our own transition to high-definition broadcasting.”
The precise standards conversion delivered by the Snell & Wilcox Alchemist Platinum Ph.C is made possible through its phase correlation motion estimation technology. Alchemist Platinum Ph.C is the most powerful and accurate form of motion measurement in the broadcast industry, with conversions that are virtually transparent. The system is fully upgradeable, allowing customers like WWE to purchase the Alchemist Platinum Ph.C for standard-definition (SD) conversion and easily adapt it to accommodate HD feeds at a later date.
YAY! WWE in HD!

Heh, so far not 1 list of favorite wrestlers has HHH. I find that amusing. And yet he's still the champ.
Well, the difficult thing for a wrestling company to do is determine if a wrestler is hated because they are doing their job properly (Ric Flair, Vader, Ted DiBiase) or because the fans would rather see them die than wrestle (HHH, X-Pac, Glacier).
WWE's problem is (1) they've built up nobody in the past few years, other than Lesnar, (2) they are abusing cognitive dissonance to a whole new level in trying to justify HHH as champ. There may be a third, but making excuses for HHH while they have to fire 12 guys in order to maintain a stable flow of income due to significant decreases in revenue is just plain dumb (and financially suicidal).
HHH did an incredible job keeping the company above water while undertaker and austin were out in 2000 (was it 2000?). To be doing the same exact thing years and year later...well, let me put it this way. There is a reason Buff Bagwell and Brian Christopher don't get booked very much on indy shows anymore.
Anyway, people hate HHH in the X-pac sense anymore (I think), despite many agreeing that he was a great wrestler. Can he save himself, and avoid being cast as the most overtly political wrestler since Dusty Rhodes himself, or has he already doomed himself?
myke.

YAY! WWE in HD!
Who the fuck can afford HD?

Well, you don't spend that kind of money on a thesaurus to go and not use it, right?
I thought the same thing, too. Shame I invited people over to watch it, or I'd spend my time revising some research I'm doing.
Seriously.

I haven't seen a WWE ppv since... WM actually. That's pretty much the ppv per year now. Although I must admit I've always been a fan of the Survivor Series and Royal Rumble. Alas, there's only two "classic" SS matches on the card.

I wonder what music they are going to use.
I hope they are in a decent segment of Impact as well. Would be nice to see them set up a Tag Team match for the belts at the next PPV. They need to come in and take over!!!

Breaking News: Randy Savage Back With TNA Already?
Posted by Matthew Boone on 11/11/2004
According to WrestlingObserver.com, Randy Savage is already re-negotiating with TNA officials to make a return. He removed himself from future appearances, allegedly due to the fact that Hogan's presence at TNA Victory Road provided an "unsafe working environment."
It is not known if there's any chance of it happening, but apparently, the odds aren't terrible.
Many in the TNA lockerroom lost a lot of respect for Savage's decision to remove himself from TNA booking, with some calling his rationale into question.
Ok make up your goddamned mind, you old fogey!
