So I took a history of Rock class this semester at the U looking for an easy A. However I came out of the class learning alot about rocks history. So I made a list below of what I think to be the best rock artists of all time. However I'm sure no two lists will be the same because peoples tastes differ alot when it comes to music. So I was wondering what other people thought, and what your list would look like. Lets the debating begin:
1. Elvis Presley
2. The Beatles
3. Bob Dylan
4. Jimi Hendrix
5. Pink Floyd
6. Led Zeplin
7. The Rolling Stones
8. The Doors
9. The Band
10.Metallica (earlier years)
Another mention which is one of my favs is Peter, Paul, and Mary, but I've come to believe I could be the only one who likes this group.
I know that I have left a few off, but this is what I think is a good list.

BTW, it's Zeppelin, not Zeplin.

What about The Clash, The Ramones, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Pearl Jam, And, to a lesser extent, Morbid Angel and Mayhem, because they influenced a lot of Death and Black metal bands, respectively.

Ok so I think this is a good start on a list. The only definite change I would make is take Metallica off the top 10 because Led Zeppelin is good enough to cover that area in music history. Metallica should be down the list a few since they came after a lot of other groups. You need to add the Ramones in there because they started punk rock for the most part. "The Band" should be further down on the list. You have them listed at #9, but they should be more like #38 or so. You could put David Bowie, Kiss, The Smiths, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Cure, The Grateful Dead, or AC/DC in there close within the top 20 since this is a list about music history and these were all highly influential rock bands..
