GTA San Andreas
Metal Gear Snake Eater

Neither are exclusive and will be available on XBox next year.. more than likely, anyways. I doubt MGS will be exclusive to PS2. What the hell is God War?

And why is UYA and Jak 3 not on that list?

Halo 2 .. DOA Ultimate.. Doom 3.. Ghost Recon 2.. MechAssault 2.. Blinx 2.. KOTOR2.. Forza..

There are only 2 that are somewhat impressive. FFXII (which from the looks of it, doesn't exactly seem like my cup of tea) and Snake Eater (I don't care what all the naysayers say, Hideo Kojima makes good games).

Tekken 5? Come on. There are at least 7 fighting games currently on the market that are better than Tekken 5.

God of War looks pretty good, but it doesn't look like a must have.

GTA isn't exclusive, and after putting in a few hours is definitely not a good reason to buy a PS2.

KOTOR 2 is coming out for PC 2 months after XBOX.

For the general public the PS2 is the system to own because the games are so varied. Also to add on the list - Kingdom Hearts 2 and Shadow of Rome.

Ex. Three of the Xbox games listed at the top- Halo 2, Doom 3, and Ghost Recon 2 are all FPS so for people who do not like shooters they're not very good reasons to own an XBox.

Gamecube's lineup is mostly made by Nintendo and games like Mario Party and Tennis are okay. It seems like they just keep making sequels or updated versions. Mario is getting stretched thin!!!

That's true, PS2 dominates all consoles for the best exclusive games. Next year, there's only around 5 games I consider worth owning for both Xbox and GC, while PS2 has about 50.

PS2 has dominated at the beginning and still dominating now.

There are so many good games for the PS2 that i'm actually starting to dislike it. This year has been too good for the PS2 and I can't keep up. I just beat Katamari a week ago and I think i'm going to pack up the system for a while to focus on the Cube/DS.

I don't care what anyone says, the PS2's library of great games easily out numbers the GCN or Xbox's library, 3 to 1. Multiple great games, with high ratings and much anticipation, come out monthly (more like weekly) and rarely end up dissapointing. PS2 is in an estimated 20% of American homes and it's easy to see why. The game selection speaks for itself. How many times do you see a game listed for just the "GCN and Xbox"... probably never. It's always "Xbox and PS2" (Street Fighter Collection, Manhunt, Silent Hill 4) or "GCN and PS2" (Megaman: Command Mission, Virtua Quest). Then the PS2 gets the games that are supposedly exclusives (Riddick, Harvest Moon: AWL, Resident Evil 4, Killer 7, Viewtiful Joe) and it's own collection of games from past consoles (Phantasy Star Trilogy, Sega Classics, Dragon Force), as well as the vast majority of Japanese niche titles (Katamari, Mr. Misquito, Gitaroo Man), it's own games (Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, Twisted Metal, Sly Cooper, Ico, Mark of Kri, Gran Turismo, Hot Shots Golf), a large number of 3rd party exclusives (Virtua Fighter, Tekken, Grand Theft Auto, Metal Gear Solid, etc.), almost every Square Enix game (Final Fantasy X - XII, Dragon Quest V & VIII, Kingdom Hearts), Atlus (Disgaea, SMT:N, SMT:DDS)and the largest amount of arcade style games (Time Crisis, Taiko Drum Master, Groove, DDR, Karaoke revolution, Pop n' Music, RE: Dead Aim, Play, Seaman 2, Sega Superstars, Typing of the Dead) available for a home console.

But... At least with the GCN or Xbox, you know the exact 10 games you want each year, so you can go out and buy them without much dillema, and right when you finish 1, it's about perfect timing for the next one to come out. In that respect, I think the PS2 might be "too much of a good thing".

I think it's funny that you run out of hate for XBox Live so you start bashing the game and system. Since when is a game P2P when there's more than two people? You have to pay to play online on most PC games, usually game by game, and for your internet connection. Of course there's a limited number of games. There's a limited number of games for EVERY system. The wait for PC and PS2 games have nothing to do with XBox Live vs. PC multiplayer.

Doom 3 is already out for PC.
Ghost Recon 2 is coming out to all systems.
Blinx 2 sucks, I played the demo.

Well duh, but it's exclusive to consoles via XBox. I wasn't aware that GR2 was multi-console, though, so thanks for informing be about that. Seems XBox gets a two or three week lead, though.

doom 3 is already on PC so its not exclusive...and kotor 2 will probably go to pc as the first one did...

Once again, we're talking about console exclusives. PC is not a console.

No matter how you break it down, it all comes to your favorite type of game.

Sports, Racing, Fighters and Shooters are generally better on the XBox. Sports and Racing offer custom soundtracks and extended support for XBox Live, which is much nicer than PS2 online. Shooters are best for it due to the controller and graphics.

PS2 is THE system to own for story-driven games (RPG). There is no doubt an abundance of innovative games for PS2 (Katamari Damacy), RPG's (Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, La Pucelles, Shinga Manga Nama Who Cares Because I Speak Japanese, etc), and sports. For some reason, you're more likely to find two people playing next to each other on a PS2, whereas with XBox you're more likely to find someone alone playing over XBox Live.

Gamecube is the system to have for adventure and innovative titles. It's not particularly dominate in any particular category, but hands down, Gamecube has the largest selection of exclusive games, such as Resident Evil (the remake), Eternal Darkness, and quite a few others. I would mention Super Monkey Ball, but, thankfully, it's coming out for XBox.

The PS2 had really been disapointing me with exclusives, but that has definately changed lately with Shadow Hearts: Covenant, Katamari Damacy, Shin Megami: Tensei, Ace Combat 5 and GTA: San Andreas. It always ends up going back and forth though, for awhile GC had all the games I wanted to play, then it was the xbox and now it happens to be the PS2.

This thread is so funny to read! Fan-boys seem to gravitate to such a topic. Each system will have its good and great games. Each will have exclusives....thats why I just buy all the systems. I know thats not an option for everyone, but it allows me to play whatever game I WANT to play. The PS2 DOES have more total games for it...but thats an endless loop there. They came out first..they have the bigger market share, so its only good business to make games for it, even niche games. Games seem to look better on the Xbox and Gamecube cause they are more powerful. Nintendo's exclusive games have always been their strength and I assume that will continue. The Halo franchise and some of the other Xbox games are really awesome too. There are some PS2 games that I really enjoy as well. To me, I prefer Xbox games if given the choice just cause the controller feels more comfortable to me and I like custom sound tracks when they are available. But that doesnt mean that I would get rid of any of my systems. I enjoy each of them and play all three (for if you count GBA) all the time. I just find it so funny to listen to folks argue which is the better system. Owning one or the other doesn't make ya better than someone that might have one you don't like. Why argue? Actually...keep it up. Its entertaining :)

I think it's funny that you run out of hate for XBox Live so you start bashing the game and system. Since when is a game P2P when there's more than two people? You have to pay to play online on most PC games, usually game by game, and for your internet connection.

I think what he meant by P2P is that a lot of Xbox multiplayer games use P2P technology instead of a client/server technology that most PC games use. P2P relies on the host user's broadband connection which is typically not as robust as a "server" in a online PC game.

As far as having to pay to play for most PC games, actually, that's not really true at all. There are no FPS games for PC that I am aware of that cost extra for online play. It is a feature that is built into most current FPS (not to mention sports and racing) PC games. In fact, that is why the majority of these games are purchased - to be played online.

MMORPGs are a different story, but you have to pay monthly fees to play them on consoles as well.

To play the typical PC game online you need a PC and a broadband connection. These are the same requirements for playing a typical online-enabled PS2 game (I don't know anyone who purchased broadband access simply for their PS2). To play online with the Xbox, you obviously have to pay for the Xbox Live service as well. I'm not willing to spend that extra amount of money just to enable my console to be playable online. $70 is a little too much for me - hey, I'm a cheapass! Sure Xbox Live is a much more standardized online experience compared to the PC (and PS2), but most PC (and PS2) users deal with the hodge-podge system they have because it's free.

Until PS2 (or PS3) starts charging for basic broadband access, I'll hold off on buying an Xbox. There just aren't enough exclusive games (that aren't FPS games - I don't do traditional FPS games on consoles) for the Xbox to warrant me spending $150. And any FPS game that's worth it's salt on the Xbox gets ported to the PC or came out on the PC first.

I think this is how it is.

PS2 makes some of the best single player games ever
(r&C,J&D,ff.gt.gta,the list goes on)

Xbox the best multi (halo halo and halo)

GC comes out with a good game everynow and then (legend of zelda could be the best game ever though.... It looks AWESOME!)

Yeah, I actually jumped up when I saw the video for it back in May. It was probably the biggest announcement/surprise for me in gaming history, despite how obvious it should have been. The game already looked complete, imagine how it's going to look/be when it's finally finished a year from now.

metal gear may get ported to the PC but you are dillusional if you think MGS 3 is coming to the Xbox. MGS 2 sold like shit on the Xbox.

Thats just because MGS is LIKE shit when compared to Splinter Cell

So very true.

I think the GC has the better multiplayer. Sure, Xbox has Halo, but I find myself, and my friends, playing more games together on the GC. XBL is the best online multiplayer though, IMO.

Though with the new model you PS2-PC analogy is technically correct, it used to be you had to pay about $40 (for the network adapter) to play your PS2 online.

Ah, you're right. How quickly I forget. But that's a $40 one time fee as opposed to a recurring annual fee for Xbox Live.
