It was to be out today but no one has it.. by no one I'm referring to EB games, who usually gets the Tuesday releases for sale on Wed. They got in every other 11/2 game EXCEPT this.. anyone know why the delay?

Not sure. I just checked EB's site and the 3 local stores around my area do not have it in stock either although EBGames.com supposedly does. My local BB also shows none in stock.
Another thing I found interesting is that it is retailing for $39.99. Have all the R&C games debuted at this price?
EDIT: Just noticed that BB shows it as a pre-order.

I think it shipped today, meaning in-stores tomorrow.

Yes. All R&C, Jak, and Sly Cooper games retail at 39.

You just got it now? I got mine a few weeks ago when it originally came out at BB for $15.

I rented it from Blockbuster yesterday. I'm not impressed, considering the reviews it's had. It's a stock (and fairly boring) run-and-jump platformer, with far, far too many crates to smash. I hope it picks up a bit.

Yep. Usually its only the big online games like Socom that sell for $50, which is really cool of Sony.

I hate to agree here, but I'm with you... the script is still damn hilarious (so far, I've played up to the first Captain Qwark vidcomic) but the weapons are leveling up awfully fast, compared to GC's. I finish one stage and I manage to level up one weapon TWICE... wow... I still feel the second one was better in terms of balance...

The second game took too long to level up... I'd prefer it if they levelled up faster.
Many of my weapons in the first game were just too weak to cut it by the end of the game, I hope they fixed that.

Weird thing, my brother who works at Circuit City said that they do have the game in the back but they're not allowed to sell it until Friday. I always thought they would sell it on Tuesday/Wednesday's when they usually get the games.

Well that sucks to hear, although I'm a pretty big platform fan so I'll probably like it anyway. I loved R&C:GC so if UYA is just more of the same, I'm sure I'll still like it.
I want to hear some impressions on the online play. I'm more excited about that than anything.

I doubt it if I'm going to use the online fuction but can u play multiplayer with ur friends instead of going online?

The game is getting better. The fact that you can use saves from both 1 AND part 2 to get things to unlock has helped (woo hoo! I love the bonus you get with the GC save...).

I beta-tested the online portion of the game, but I don't really like online games. And this game did not change that. You might like it, but it was basically just "shoot every thing that moves, except for a couple of guys on your team." And I don't know if it was a problem with the game or everyone was just being shy, but I couldn't hear anyone talking while playing the game. I'm sure that it's better by now.
Anyways, I'm definitely getting the game, but for the single-player portion of the game.

What do you get for the GC save? I mistakenly erased mine a while back, so I couldn't use it.
By the way, I'm having a lot of fun with the game. The vid comics add a nice change of pace.

I'm still not getting on with this at all. I hate games with crates all over the place that you have to go around and smash. Do the crates disappear as you get further, or does the tedium continue?
At least I'm just playing it as a rental, which is a good thing from my point of view.

You get the Lava Gun and the Miniturret Gun for free from Slim Cognito. The Lava Gun can be upgraded 4 times like the other weapons in the game and at its final form, the Lava Gun becomes a Liquid Hydrogen gun or something... and instead of lava, it shoots a freezing liquid which comes in REAL handy for some enemies... that and the Rift Distupter at max level are my favorite weapons right now.

The rift disrupter is one of my favorites too. Although the duck gun is kind of fun.

EDIT: after upgrading it to the meteor gun though.

You don't HAVE to smash them, you know. They're just there so you can pick up some extra bolts and get some ammo. Also, trying shooting them. In many ways, that works too.

Yeah, the actual time spent smashing crates decreased in the second game... significantly.

Finished UYA this morning... final battle not even that hard... ending cinematic after the final credits is hilarious (LAWRENCE!!!!!!)... Off to play Challenge mode (certain weapons can be upgraded past V5, Ryno III for sale, Infernox armor for sale, bolt multiplier).

Well, the fact you get stuff out of them means that you pretty much do have to smash them, or at least they're a significant part of the game.
Doesn't matter. I took it back to Blockbuster today, a day early. I didn't enjoy it at all. I'm quite surprised, it's the first PS2 game I haven't enjoyed in a long while. Just not my thing, I suppose.

:: readies the flame retardant suit :: For me, that 'game' is GTA: SA... after finishing the story missions, I haven't cared for the side ones at all... don't get me wrong, I enjoyed every minute of it, but now that it's 'over', more or less, the side stuff has little to no interest in me... I might start over someday...

Haha. I haven't even tried that game, it doesn't hold any appeal for me at all. So, no flames from me. :)

BTW, for those with a GC save, you get FIVE weapons from Slim Cognito at different intetvals:
Shield Charger
Bouncer
Plasma Bolt
Lava Gun
Miniturret Gun
Backlash
11-08-2004, 01:06 PM
But are they totally powered down to uselessness, like the free weapons in GC that were from the first game?
I hope not, because I really used the Miniturret Gun and the Bouncer A LOT in GC. Actually, I'd say the Bouncer was my fav gun in GC. Never got the Shield Charger due to $$ constraints.

I liked the Bouncer and the Minirocket Tube in GC. Agreed, I didn't use the holdover weapons too much in GC, but it was nice to have them there occasionally.
I thought the power-up intervals in GC were very balanced. By the time I finished the game, I had all but the most expensive weapon, and I believe they were all powered up except the Spiderbot and the Synthesis thing.
They may be powering up faster in UYA because there's more than 2 levels to them.
Like someone else said, if UYA is simply 'more of the same', I'm in, R&C/GC to me were almost perfect games.

Even though it was only one of the mid-priced weapons, I got the most use out of the Seeker gun in GC.........

They have be adjusted for UYA purposes... they all start at level 1 and can be upgraded up to 8 times (5 under the first game, 3 more times with challenge mode and a Mega mod). Under the Challenge mode, you can level up weapons pretty fast if you didn't do so the first go round. I remember killing one enemy on the intro stage with a level 1 gun and it had enough exp for the 2nd level, and so on.
