this is a petition going on online that asks Capcom to be a little fair to gamecube owners and port some of playstation 2's exclusives to gamecube because they have ported almost all of gamecube's exclusives.
http://www.petitiononline.com/port2gcn/petition.html
Capcom said that they decided to port RE4 to PS2 because the fans wanted it to be done so maybe they will listen to this petition too.

Wow.
I am signing this right now. I have all three systems, but I wish that when Gamecube gets exclusives, they would stay exclusive.

Yeah, wont do much. I think Capcom is driven more by money than its fans now. Just look at how they treat their 2D fighting fans. Capcom Fighting Evolution, gimme a break.

what do you mean? I have a ps2, xbox, and a gamecube. I just think that capcom should be both ways on the matter. They promissed nintendo that these games were going to be exclusive and they turned their backs on them.

it's all about the money now man. sucks ass and all, but there isn't much you can do about it. i am by no means a ps2 fanboy, i have all 3 consoles and most of the time i play them just as much as the other ones (unless i get a brand new game).

have faith. I heard somewhere that the only reason why capcom ported RE4 was for the fans of the series that wanted it for PS2. If there is enough signatures then capcom has to consider doing this to satisfy us and to get some money out of it too.

this too can happen. Look at the grand theft auto series. Once exclusive to the ps2. Xbox owners everywhere wanted this game on their system and eventually, they got the games.
tell your friends about this petition. Its the right thing for them to do it because of this unfair preference that capcom has over ps2

I am pretty sure pettitions had a big impact to porting over the gta series. Also the x-men legends video game listened to petitions on which characters should be in the game and they are even taking suggestions for their next game.

i don't think petitions did anything for gta. i think Rockstar just wanted more money so they ported it to the xbox. i wish they had San Andreas out on it now as i would love to have a custom soundtrack for it. i have the ps2 version and it seems pretty good, let's start a petition to have them port it to the xbox sooner (j/k).

Even if you hate gamecube, this petition is just to show capcom that they should be fair. Forget about the systems and look at what happened. They promissed exclusive games and they lied. It is kind of like a breach of contract.
I agree I have been playing xbox lately but this petition is about the idea of them being fair and not so much the games.

Anyone else find it odd about the timing on Capcom's announcement for the PS2 version of RE4?
It seems like it's been done deliberately to spite Nintendo.... perhaps for pushing back the release date from November to January to avoid Halo 2 and all the holiday crunch.
It's not just that Capcom announced it over a year before it will ship but strange that it's also just as the hype for the GC version ramps up with the release of the RE4 Demo to stores (just played it at Gamecrazy tonight - looks great).
Also, with RE4 being one of the biggest releases this winter, you have to figure it would have been a huge x-mas system seller for the Cube. Now, it's another reason for PS2 fanboys to talk smack about Nintendo.
Especially for a game that's already a couple of years late (wasn't it first announced when the GC first came out?), I can't see any reason why Capcom couldn't have waited until the 2005 E3 to announce. I hope Nintendo can get back some of that investment money they threw away on Capcom.

I was just about to bring up what Johnny Postman did. Don't you guys (and gals) think that it's a bit odd that Capcom decided to announce RE4 being ported to the PS2 before the GCN version even came out? It's a blatant "screw you" to Nintendo...

David, while I applaud you're desire to see fairness there are several facts that make this a pointless endeavor:
Capcom is simply doing this because it means more money.
The PS2 has a larger installed base and the Cube is thought of as being a secondary choice. The CG to PS2 conversion process for capcom is like saying "Hey all thie cany we're selling to kids in this class? lets sell it to the kids in ALL the classes!" so for them to say "HEY! lets spend all these profits on makeing something that wont make the money back!" is not in the cards. It's too big an investment for too little a gain.
The exclusivity they planned with Nintendo isnt working out for them and they need to stop the financial bleeding. So it's not about fairness it's about what keeps them in buisness.

And while we're at it, I'd like to be two inches taller, 40 pounds lighter and ten years younger. And a pony. I want a pony!
Time for a reality dose here. There is only one form of petition in all existence that matters to third party publishers. You get a tally mark every time you go to a store and buy a full priced GameCube title. You vote with your wallet and you get as many votes as you wish to purchase.
That is it. Nothing else matters. All of the Gamecube owners had their chance to encourage Capcom when the earlier RE titles came out. They sold badly. The reason those game are now 'rare' is that the initial production run was so badly received that there was never any incentive to produce more. I had no problem buying all of those for $15 or less before they all passed from the retail channel. Yet now GameCube fans feel they are owed exclusive access to the latest game in the series.
You had your chance and voted against Capcom's further exclusive support. In an election where stuffing the ballot box is fully encouraged you instead stayed home and left it nearly empty. Now the decision makers are responding to the apparent desires of the electorate.

Sometimes I think it's best to not bother with a console until it's dead. Everything is then a known quantity and there are no disappointments. But some people cannot help but become emotionally invested in the fortunes of a product that has little to do with their life. That is a part of my youth I do not miss.

Really dude, owning all three isn't always an option. This is the whole reason why console wars exist. If you can own all three good for you but not everyone has that kind of cash. Or time. Or interest.
As for petitions, I'd like to think my petition against another VanDamme Streetfighter movie helped a little even if it was only signed by a few people... but then again they probably realized it was a shit idea without my petition.

Due to the recent backstabbing events taken place regarding Capcom, a petition has been started in order to inform them that us GameCube owners would like to see some popular, successful PlayStation 2 titles ported onto our GameCubes.
Capcom has said that the Resident Evil 4 port was due to popular demand so in response us GameCube owners would like to see games such as Street Fighter, Onimusha, and Devil May Cry get released on our favorite system.
In just ten days our signitures have gone from under 100 to over 1200 showing that many of us share the same beliefs, even people from other countries are signing up. Please, all you have to do is click on the link below and sign away, we're counting on everyone.
http://www.petitiononline.com/port2gcn/petition.html
If everyone who is a member to these forums and signs could post a quick reply that would be great. It would help to keep the thread alive and noticed. Thanks you guys! And please, spread the word as much as you can :D .

Anyways, dont be mad at capcom, gamecube is getting the game way ahead of time and the graphics/load times should be better. Well at least in my eyes they are. Capcom had fans and stockholders telling them they needed to do this and when it comes down to it, that is how they get paid. If your boss tells you to sell the worst game you have played to parents buying a PS2, then you have no choice but to do it because thats how you get paid. I think it was said best in Futurama, "You gotta do what you gotta do." A company has got to make money and thats it. As for DMC or onimusha on gamecube...well i dont think Onimusha sold well at all on Xbox so for what reason should they port it to gamecube?
As a fan of all consoles id have to say there are certain things worth fighting for. I think that petition should be saying, hey you said RE4 was exclusive so you better add more or subtract to the PS2 version if you want me to fork over 50 bucks now instead of buying it used cheap when the PS2 version comes out!

It's not backstabbing. Capcom isnt making enough money on the Nintendo deal so the contracts natural loopholes are being used to their benefit. If there's a expiration period on the contract (which makes sense for capcom if things dont workout...the way things obviously occured) then they can wait untill it expires to make the deal profitable again by porting it to another system.

Honestly, the only Capcom game I'd want on the Gamecube would be Street Fighter, and I doubt I'd buy it anywhere near full price.

I think the coontract with nintendo expires som time next year which is why the ps2 version is coming out much later

most of the comments for the petition are so childish nobody would take it seriously.
It's still good for a laugh, with all the people saying they were lied to and cheated, and other people making vague threats against capcom, yet others implying it's a sound business decision without knowing the first thing about the financials of the situation.
