NOW DEAD!
Consider yourself lucky if you got in on it!
-------------------------------------------------
Ripped from Ben's Bargains:
Cheap ass link (http://bensbargains.net/rd.php?u1=http://bensbargains.net/cgi-bin/a.cgi?aol&u2=http://free.aol.com/tryaolfree/index2.adp?promo=514700&service=aol)
AOL has been bleeding customers lately. Their new incentive is a free $100 Amazon Gift Certificate with trial signup. The GC is e-mailed within 24 hours, and you can cancel (1-888-265-8008) within the 50 day AOL trial period to avoid any charges.
They are of course going to argue with you and give you a multitude of reasons to stay with AOL. Just tell them you wanted your free Amazon GC and stick to your guns.

I imagine its hard to put restrictions on it if its for use at Amazon, they sell a lot of stuff. so it looks like some people might end up wishing they did sign up.
Also, does it go to the AOL email account or the one we referenced when signing up?

After going to fat wallet and reading their forum on this subject, it seems that some people who signed up early got their codes, but most people haven't gotten them yet. Most people are saying to wait about 48 hrs because they are swamped, others are already starting talk of class action. Anyway, I guess we can just wait and see....

If you wish to cancel your account, there are three ways to do so:
You may discuss your membership with one of our representatives by contacting us at US 1-888-265-8008. Our representatives are waiting to assist you.
I love how they say "discuss your membership" since that is what you'll do, instead of cancelling it.

I've been going over to Fatwallet to check their forum on this topic, and it is funny how crazy everyone is over there over this AOL thing. Some people signed up like 40 or 50 times for this deal, and I think it's because of people like that, that this deal may not go through. I'm holding onto hope though. Anyway, here is the link to fatwallet if anyone wants a good laugh:

Yet another reason why AOL sucks. (Like we needed more...)
They better give us the GC. $100 barely pays for the pain on installation. It even added a toolbar to IE.

When you guys got to your final checkout screen, does it show a -$100 for the gift card above your total?
I keep trying to checkout and and it keeps giving my final total as $110.00 and then when I try to re-apply my GC code I get this message:
This gift certificate has already been applied to your account. If you wish to use this balance towards your purchase, please leave this field blank. If you wish to apply another gift certificate to your account, please enter the new claim code number below.
Do you guys just think it is screwy right now with everyone trying to order, or am I doing something wrong?
So what is everyone buying who got in on this deal?
Also, if you canceled with AOL yet, what did you tell them when you canceled?

Blues Clues - disc for LTM player $9.99

I noticed from reading some of the forum posts at fatwallet, that some people were sent a 16-digit ($100 ones are 14-digits) $25 toys only gift card. I haven't checked back yet to see how AOL is handling this, but if you go back to the previous page of this thread, where I give a link to the fatwallet forum, you may find your answer there. I used my paypal debit card for billing, which has like a $3.00 balance, so I'm not too worried about the billing part. From what I have read on the other forums, they haven't been giving people too hard a time about cancelling. I didn't download the software, and I figure I'll keep the account for the full 50 days to use the webmail address to sign up for other offers without worrying about my regular e-mail being hit with spam. Seems like a win-win to me, but I guess only time will tell.
By the way, my order shipped already...damn Amazon is fast! Thanks again to the OP......
