Getting started, it is highly reccomended to find a Group

Post in this thread saying what you would like to purchase. Whether you want to get 5 people to buy a single game or map pack, or the entire PSN collection.

If your gamesharing group is meant for multiple transactions, one of your members should look into making a social group here on CAG.

To do this, go to the social group page, scroll down to the bottom, and click create group. Name it something like "CAG Gameshare Group __", and make it invite only. Then after you've done that, scroll to the bottom to invite your friends. This solve our communication problems between groups

ALSO - You can search this topic for games to see what other people have or want, and try and PM them and get something together.

How to Host a Gameshare Group(Thanks to Bastiartadi and fatboyjam for putting this together)
1) Create a dummy email account

2) Create a dummy PSN account

PRO TIP:
Put your address to Portland, Oregon (no tax) as for the specific address, Google 'starbucks Portland' and you'll get it.

3) Add your CC to the dummy account and purchase the agreed upon game.

PRO TIP:
Receive all the payment first before buying the game. Though it might slow the process down, it will keep you safe.

4) REMOVE YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION
PRO TIP:
Don't even think about forgetting this step.

5) Share the game with your CAG buddies.

1) Never change the password for the account so that the others could sell it in the future when they do no need it anymore.

2) When sending payment (via paypal I'm assuming), always type in your CAG username in the accompanying message.

3) You can only have a maximum of 16 user accounts in your PS3 and thus, only have a maximum of 15 game share accounts (15 plus your main account = 16). Deleting a user account will free up one of the 16 slots available for your PS3. See new tutorial below.

4) Only 5 people can 'share' a PSN account (You and 4 others)

How to deactivate your PSN ID from your PS3. (NEW 3/23) (Yet another big thanks go out to Bastiartadi for this)

1) Log-in your PS3 using the account you want to deactivate

2) To deactivate, go to Account Management -> System Activation -> PS3 System -> Games -> Deactivate

3) To delete your account from the PS3, go to Users on the far left side of the XMB and delete the user your PSN ID is attatched to.

NOTE:
Step 2 frees up one of the 5 possible shares on the PSN account.

Step 3 frees up one of the 16 maximum slots on your PS3.

CAG Gamesharing FAQ

Q: How does gamesharing work?

A: It's simple. Once you buy a game, that game is tied to your PSN ID. Basically all you do is give someone your account info, and they click "download again." Both players will have the game, but remember, don't delete the account from your PSN, or the downloaded game will be gone!


Q: All right, seems easy enough, but how does this group thing work, and whats the point?

A: Basically, take the original idea, and add a few people into the mix. Each person logs on to the account, adds their credit card info, and buys the game(s) the group has agreed on. This is helpful to us, because prior to contorary belief, Sony limits us to gamesharing with 5 PEOPLE, not 5 shares per game. The whole group thing meets that requirement. Not to mention, having a single account for 5 people where you add and remove your credit card information is a LOT safer than just giving your account information to some random guy.


Q: This whole gamesharing thing sounds sketchy to me. Is it legit?

Im pretty sure that they said this is the last add on for borderlands but i may be wrong, i want in on this group too since i haven't heard from anyone one in our other borderlands group.
Did some looking around, some reviewers are saying they suspect it's the final one due to a GOTY edition coming out. In this interview with the head of the studio in Sept he says if people keep buying it they'll keep making it, but at the end he also says there are no current plans for more. So I've read the first post and I'm still a little confused/hesitant about game sharing. Could someone help enlighten me on how it works. Is there any risk involved if I only buy from others? Can they somehow block the game once I've paid them or get info of my my system in any way? Say I only buy, does that mean I can buy shares from 5 other people and that's it? So if I buy a share of 1 game it wastes one of my 5 spots?

I'm really interested in doing this but I'm really hesitant at the same time. I know these are probably such basic questions but I really want to cover all my bases before I consider this.

I don't want to clog up the thread so if someone with some insight to share could PM me I would really appreciate it. Thanks guys.

You may have up to 16 accounts on your PS3, with 5 activated systems per account. If you are purchasing a share from someone, you are buying one of the 5 slots for that account. You would create a new user and enter the login info for that account in order to access the download history and download the games. As long as you don't delete that user (or deactivate the account) you may play the games downloaded on any user account on your PS3 (for most games; some games have a 24 hour lock period or require you to be logged onto that account to play)

i hope you don't mean you've shared games by giving your password/email in trade for other games..

there are many who are misinformed about gamesharing and these people believe they can share games ' individually ' on their account, this is not the case ....
if you thought you shared only 1 game you are mistaken, because by allowing a person even 1 game...you've actually given them 1 of your ONLY 5 shares.

The second, is my nephew. When I get stuff he downloads it on his ps3, and when he gets stuff I get it on my ps3.

Same thing happened to me, apparently it's due to a corrupt file and there's no way to find out which one. I had to just randomly delete stuff and retry til it worked.

It took me like 20 tries and every trick in the book, but it worked. I called Sony twice and there were not helpful at all either time. One guy from Sony tech support asked for my email address so he could send me a fix. I said "it's not just information from the website is it, because I've already tried everything there?" He responded "No, this is from our own in-house trouble-shooting". Then he had the nerve to send me this link:

It made me want to go to Sony and pummel people.

Anyways, I basically ended up deleting virtually everything except for the locked saves. I also had to boot up the Recovery menu for both PS3s and Restore the file system. I'll have to load some of the other saves in manually, and re-install all of my game data, but at least I'll be able to keep my progress from Demon's Souls, Street Fighter 4, Rock Band 2, etc. (all locked saves - Sony, you suck). Funny that the locked saves are on all the games that are the most difficult and time consuming to platinum.

It would be ideal if someone in the US could host. If I (Canadian) host then there will be sales tax and I'm going to want to buy it on two $20 PSN cards so that leaves $3.29 left over (enough for a $2.99 item plus tax.) Anyone willing to host something like this in the US? If not, anyone willing to pay one fifth of $40 if I host? Well I was thinking just these titles, I would be open to future games but I just don't want to run into a situation where people feel pressured to pay for games they don't want. And another concern is that I think there's a lot of potential for many Move titles to be crappy. It's not that I'm against the idea but I feel like there are a lot of potential cons to it. I would like it if everyone committed to future Sports Champions DLC though, but we don't have to. Got any thoughts on this? I'm just giving my point of view. We could always discuss future games later and try to agree if we think there's a good title, I would definitely be open to that, I just don't want to pay for something I don't want.

Yeah well basically going out there on CAG basically means you're likely to get scammed in one way.
CAG is easily the best site ive ever seen that offers game trading works well usually on here but some times you get crap like this, don't let it discourage you.
