Great show, guys.
Wombat -- check out the first episode of the first season of "Life After People" on the History Channel for more info on Hashima Island. They give a pretty creepy tour. They make it sound like no one is allowed on the island due to the crashing waves and crumbling buildings. Also, http://weburbanist.com/category/abandonments/ is a great site for creepy/artsy-looking abandoned places.

Long time listener, new forum member (I hope I'm posting in the right place). I found Wombat's twitter comment to be insightful, because it made me laugh out loud, before I heard he got backlash comments from it.
I thought the tweet was funny. It's called, "Humor" and Wombat has it.

Also, I was wondering if any of you had been to both Disney in the US and in Japan, and which one you thought was better.

I agree with Wombat that Resident Evil had HORRIBLE controls. Moving around should not be a constant exercise in frustration.

Glad to see the CAGCast back after the empty week. I always like the talks you have about Japan, despite how little you may speak about in the show in general. I actually heard that Japanese companies were bringing English into their workspace, so it makes sense that Japan as a whole would have some implementations of English for tourists.
You think there will be a cross-over game where characters from Left 4 Dead, Dead Rising 1 & 2, and Undead Nightmare where they have to get Zombrex or whatever MacGuffin they want to use in that game?

loved the Fallout New Vegas talk, Wombat brought the funny as always. I guess it's no wonder why when looking at the strategy guide, the main quest is about 50 pages, with the Side Quest section being 4 times as large! I can't even do the first side quest perfectly b/c my skills aren't where they need to be
and I'm with you Cheapy on the NFS Demo. I first tried it on the PS3 and only had the option to be the cop available. It was pretty difficult to ram the car b/c as I would steer into the opposing car, I would almost lose control worse (using the Porsche Boxster pursuit vehicle) Then I got it the next day on the 360 and noticed a race with a normal car popped up. While it was fun, it just wasn't earth shattering, and the control seemed a little off, for being so heavily compared to Burnout and made by the same developers, it did not feel like that at all. I do think the AutoLog is pretty cool and has potential, but games like Blur have already done this, so I don't see why EA is thinking its so revolutionary (?)

I don't know how insightful this is but I've got to defend the PS3. Yes, the updating is ridiculous. Nobody mentioned the garbage web browser either. It tries, but it fails miserably.
Having said that there are some great things about the PS3 that I think put it ahead of the Xbox. First and foremost, the exclusives. Uncharted 2 is arguably the single best game of this generation. God Of War, Demon's Souls, Heavy Rain, Ratchet & Clank, Metal Gear Solid, Little Big Planet, Killzone, Resistance, and Infamous are just some of the exclusive games already available.
You should also look ahead to next year at the exclusives. What is coming up for Xbox? Gears of War 3 is all that immediately comes to mind.
The PS3 on the other hand will have LBP2, Killzone 3, Infamous 2, Resistance 3, The Last Guardian, Twisted Metal, Motorstorm and more.
Aside from the variety of games there are other benefits to the PS3 over the Xbox. There's free online play while Xbox Live not only costs $50 currently but is only going up in price. PS3 also has Blu Ray and a non proprietary, easily upgradeable hard drive which allows you to store video/music/photo files.
Also to me the built in batteries of the PS3 controller are much better than removable batteries. There is a $30 Energizer charging station (http://www.amazon.com/Playstation-Energizer-Power-Charging-System-3/dp/B001H4NMNA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1288356332&sr=8-1) you can buy which eliminates the need for the USB cables and it works flawlessly. I very highly recommend getting it. There is also one available (http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Energizer-Power-Charging-System/dp/B003LJZUYS/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1288356442&sr=1-1) for Xbox controllers though I haven't tried that.
Anyway, I own an Xbox also and will agree on a few points: There are exceptions, but yes the 360 in general gets the better multi platform versions of games. Also while you pay for Live, it is a better overall experience than PSN. If you are a shooter or sports game fan and like to play with friends online often, the Xbox is a better deal quality wise.
Lastly, we can all agree that the Wii sucks. Fuck motion controls.

Regarding the Sony PSP Phone rumors, I think there's something there. There is space in the gaming ecosystem for something like it, specially if it runs on Android. If this phone is available with the major carriers and subsidized, has access to regular Android apps and also a custom PSN store with PS1 games and some PSP or PSN games, movie rentals, etc it could be a very hot item.

Great to have the show back. Another quality episode.
Wombat piqued my interest in that Hashima Island. Looks absolutely creepy. Apparently they just recently re-opened part of the island to tourists and it was the final level of killer7.
And Cheapy, definitely try and make it back to Undead Nightmare. Quite literally some of the best DLC I've ever played. Rockstar's mix of horror and comedy is great throughout. The combination of B-movie horror and the Wild West makes for a super interesting atmosphere and story.
(Also, Ship is still insane for not liking Red Dead Redemption )

Don't trash the tank controls of the earlier Resident Evils. I felt like the awkward, I think awkward is a better description, added to the horror element, because if shit hits the fan you needed to keep your cool and start to slowly turn your character around to run the other direction.
I was a defender of RE5 right before it came out, but after playing it and then playing the DLC it really is an outdated scheme.

Glad to have a show this week.
Cheapy I only disagree with you on one thing with the PS3- the batteries. While your situation is valid (not playing for a while, dead controller), a rechargeable lithium battery is far superior to me to freaking AA batteries that you have to keep replacing. Everytime I have to replace batteries for Wii/360 controllers it drives me nuts. I have 2 Dualshocks so I just plug the other one in while I'm playing.
Maybe when the batteries die and quit recharging, I will change my tune...
Shipwreck for next show- what did you buy in Japan?

I don't know how insightful it is... but... one wonders if Tokyo has burned to the ground numerous times, yet now they have more advanced toilets does that mean the West could benefit from burning a few cities to the ground and rising from the ashes like a Phoenix (a phoenix who likes a fresh posterior)?

Great show and I really missed it last week.
I really enjoyed the talk between Cheapy and Shipwreck regarding Japan. I would love to hear what Shipwreck bought over there and if there's anything he found super interesting or if research was made on a must buy over there.
Love the Rock Band 3 talk and Cheapy didn't say if he got it on the cheap for that bundle he talked about the week before. Did the company come through? Also a little sad that Wombat gave little input on the Rock Band discussion but what a dis on Cheapy for the pro mode comment. No love Wombat, it's just that Cheapy was really happy with Rock Band and really enjoyed it. You could tell in his voice how excited he is for it. Can't wait to play it myself.
Great show like always and don't forget to review on itunes :)

I enjoyed show... as always. You guys rated the PS3 at 3 (or 4) in terms of your level(s) of satisfaction, and gave a reason why... which is fine... its each of your opinions and I do respect your opinion(s). Is it really the system that's the problem... or is it a matter of your own preference (of xbox 360)? You each raised some legitimate issues with the PS3; However I believe that if those problems were fixed (or never existed) you level(s) of satisfaction wouldn't be any different. [I can ignore the long PS3 update downloads for updates, just like how Cheapy ignored the failure rate of the 360. ]
I give the PS3 a 4.
The main thing that disappoints me with the PS3 is how developers treat the multi-platform games. They develop a game that's up to the 360 standard (of graphics, and sound, etc) and then the port for the PS3 is usually sub par. Its like every multi-platform game on PS3 is an xbox 360 game. I wish that developers would try to get the most out of the PS3 hardware, and if that means a better looking or sounding game, then so be it. In the end, it falls on Sony, because they allowed developers to create sub par software for their platform.
Here's an example:
http://www.vg247.com/2008/04/28/sierra-spring-break-08-ps3-exclusivity-would-have-allowed-double-the-amount-of-objects-on-screen-says-ghostbusters-dev/
The PS3 version of ghostbusters turned out to be sub par, and in the article the developer is indicating that basically they were dumbing down the PS3 version for the sake of the 360... which makes me feel that as much as everyone loves the 360..I wonder if it its holding back the overall quality of games (on the PS3)?

That's changed a lot, though. Vanquish lead on the PS3 and is the slightly better version.
But since the PS3 came out 12 months after the 360, its hardware should have been powerful enough to have almost every multiplatform game look better on the PS3, just like almost every multiplaform game in the last generation looked better on the Xbox. Blame Kutaragi for that.

I forgot about him... he was the dumb ass that got the thing priced at 600 dollars. The ps3 was a 600 dollars system with its main set of games (multiplatform) which came from a 300-400 dollar system.

I just wanted to mention that for some reason i feel like if Wombat is getting left out on some of these podcast. There allot of talk back and forth between Cheapy D and Shipwreck but Wombat has been MIA. I just think you guys work best when all 3 are in the fight together, Oh also thanks again for the great E3 party at the Broadway Bar it was fun to get to meet all 3 of you guys and get to talk.

360 a 3.
PS3 a 2.
Wii a 4.
I played the Wii the most. Mostly for the NIntendo stuff and much of the time playing with my kids and wife. Played it quite a bit with friends the 1st year or so when WiiSports was the rage. Wii controls are the best. Pointing functionality adds alot to console gameplay. Motion controls when used right are an excellent addition. And you still have what is basically a gamepad - analog stick, dpad and 8 buttons. Best of both worlds. Hands apart is also more comfortable. Wii interface (is) the best. Only customizable interface. Least amount of noise interface. Glad kids can't talk to others online. Don't care to talk to or hear 99% of online gamers myself. Best games for playing people in the same living room as you. I like my Battlefield, but almost never break that out for guests. Quietest, smallest and cheapest console.
360 I bought in July when they finally released a real revision. But only play Battlefield:BC2 on it. Don't care much for other games. No time to get into them or feel like I've played most of them before on the pc with better gameplay and shittier graphics. 360's $50+ annual fee to play online sucks. The dashboard is one big series of advertisements. The Avatars are lame wannabees. No style to them. Only really got a 360 because MS screwed up pcgaming and it got to be too much of a hassle. And Battlefield isn't on the Mac natively. Could care less for achievements. Still like my Battlefield on the 360. Maps are small and player numbers are low, but a bit amazing they've mostly captured that pcgaming experience on a console.
Ps3 I've had in the home a few times, but never kept it around. Almost got it instead of 360 for Battlefield. Part of me wishes I did because no fee to play online and you can use any usb/bt headset afaik. But the 360 gets the better version of multi-platform games. Never had much interest in BR. Too expensive. DVD quality is fine by me. Ps3's software is a bit tedious for me.
Now I will say the Wii was more of a 5 for me early on. And in the last year or so has become more of a 3. The main reason is no one else got on board with Nintendo and started making quality games for it. I just don't think western game makers understood the console. Most are too eye-candy focused. And making the same game that came out last year focused.
Also Nintendo slacked off too much. Nintendo is too afraid to really follow through on some of their ideas. They like to lay the groundwork and then move on and lay some more groundwork for something else. Their system is full of groundwork. Balance board, Channels, WiiSpeak, Motion+, Zapper, WiiConnect, ....Some nice ideas, but where's the follow through? Where's the second really kool game to use the balance board? Where's something that really takes advantage of WiiConnect? Where's another Zapper lightgun game? Why haven't we seen more channels? The photo channel could have had and even sold a few sequels.
OK none of this really surprises me. It's Nintendo. And even with those downfalls I still enjoy playing most of Nintendo's games which is mostly why the Wii comes out ahead of the other two consoles.

I stopped playing RE4 really fast because the controls were so awful, so bad I couldn't give them a 2nd chance.
When did you play it? On release that game was a landmark title, and got numerous game of the year awards; it's control scheme wasn't broken.
The control scheme definitely isn't one that stands the test of time though now that we have played competent third person shooters with very doable move and shoot mechanics.
I don't care what anyone says though; the biggest problem with RE5 was the co-op gameplay and the lack atmosphere. They need to go back to a dark game that's much more scary and so they need to drop this stupid thing where they aren't trying to escape anymore and are trying to crack the case. I hate that shit! Just GTFO!!!
They need to go back to fucking zombies, limited ammo and inventory space, and giving the player a sense of urgency! Resident Evil 4 and 5 shouldn't have even been called Residente Evil; they were good, but just weren't anything like the first three games in any aspect other than the characters.

in regards to the playstation phone there are a few things that could happen(or a combination thereof)
1. sony and other developers can develop applications specifically for this device - just because it runs android doesn't mean that the applications have to run on any android device. sony can implement their own market to sell these games, to keep them seperate from the normal android market. people are raving about the quality of games on WP7, and sony has just as much muscle as MS to get developers onboard for their platform. if done properly, this could be a really strong way for Sony to differentiate their Android phones from everyone elses ("i could get a motorola phone but then i wouldnt be able to get Playstation games like i could on the sony")
2. the game controls could be used on already existing android games.. this is usually accomplished by simulating a keyboard IME . this is how Wii Remotes interface with Android games.
also, there is already a small market for keyboard covers that "convert" hardware android keyboards to gamepads.. essentially they block out all but the buttons you would use for games(and give you bigger buttons to push). one guy even tore his hardware keyboard apart to permanently make it a game controller.

Might just be because I've been watching more movies than playing games lately, but the PS3 has been my go-to system, especially with the new disc-less, 5.1 surround, 1080p (YMMV) Netflix app. Combine that with my excitement over Kirby and the new Donkey Kong Country game and it looks like my 360 might be cooling its metaphorical heels this holiday season. Although, maybe if I had a copy of Vanquish...?

Another comment about the ps3 built in batteries:
Cheapy.. if your battery is dead, remember you can get power from a laptop too, that way you're only slightly tethered.. just put your laptop on a coffee table or on your couch while you play.
or you can buy an ac/usb adapter for like 2 bucks anywhere and plug into your wall socket.

LOL Tank Controls are awesome!! People seem to hate on those old school RE controls, but I don't mind them. They added to the survivor horror experience, in that you had to be on your game and know where you were at, at all times ! Even though the camera angles could screw you over! Anyways, great show guys! Keep up the good work!

When did you play it? On release that game was a landmark title, and got numerous game of the year awards; it's control scheme wasn't broken.
On release it was also a GameCube exclusive, and its controls worked perfectly with that control pad because they were designed around that control pad.
And that control pad had the best left analog stick of any controller but it also had the worst right analog stick. So it's not hard to understand why a third-person shooter developed solely for the GameCube between 2001-2004 used a system where you moved with the left analog stick, then held down a shoulder button to also aim with the left analog stick.

Oh and wombat, you got dangerously close to the new Kotaku review scheme when talking about who should care/buy it for Fallout 3: NV. We'll let it slide this time, but stick to the 3 word CAG-style in the future.

in regards to the playstation phone there are a few things that could happen(or a combination thereof)
1. sony and other developers can develop applications specifically for this device - just because it runs android doesn't mean that the applications have to run on any android device. sony can implement their own market to sell these games, to keep them seperate from the normal android market. people are raving about the quality of games on WP7, and sony has just as much muscle as MS to get developers onboard for their platform. if done properly, this could be a really strong way for Sony to differentiate their Android phones from everyone elses ("i could get a motorola phone but then i wouldnt be able to get Playstation games like i could on the sony")
2. the game controls could be used on already existing android games.. this is usually accomplished by simulating a keyboard IME . this is how Wii Remotes interface with Android games.
also, there is already a small market for keyboard covers that "convert" hardware android keyboards to gamepads.. essentially they block out all but the buttons you would use for games(and give you bigger buttons to push). one guy even tore his hardware keyboard apart to permanently make it a game controller.
So I think there's kind of two schools on this Sony phone: people who want more of a phone (apps, touch controls, texting) and people who want more of a portable gaming console.
My problem with all of this is that I don't want anything extra. I just want one less device in my pocket. If I had a phone that could play PSP/DS quality games, but could also call, text, surf the web, and listen to music on, I would be in heaven. As it stands my options are: carry separate devices for those functions (my phone, my iPod, and my PSP or DS) or buy a superphone (Android/iPhones) that compromise on one or more of those functions and be tied to a crappy network.
BUT....I do think Sony stands a pretty good chance of making this happen if it is going to happen, compared to Apple, Nintendo, or Microsoft.

C'mon Cheapy. You like the fact that the 360 uses fucking batteries as a point to why it's better than the PS3, and the PS3 is "inferior" because of it? What is this? 1996? Dude, you're grasping at straws there on that point. It would help if you actually turned on the PS3 every few months. I shouldn't have to be searching around my house for fucking batteries if I want to play my games for an extended period of time on the 360. It sucks the life out of them after a couple days. I love the fact I can just charge my controller through the system on the PS3 without buying extra charging stations and/or batteries like on the 360.
Here's my run down. I can't force myself to give anything a 5.
PS3: 4
The PS3 is my main system of choice. I like the controller better, in terms of feel and stuff. Free online multiplayer is nice. I also like the PS3 exclusives more than what the 360 offers. The hardware is more reliable too, and I have more options in regards to the HD. The download times are just awful and incredibly slow, no matter what you do. Downloading a demo could take several hours. By the time you're done with it, you don't care anymore. The system updates are the worst because they more often than not add nothing to the table. It seems like every time you pop in a game there's an update. It's a drag. Sometimes it feels like you're doing more updating/patching than playing actual games.
I also don't like the fact that PS3 multiplatform games sometimes get the shaft and have issues that the 360 version doesn't.
360: 3
Hardware is awful. It's too damn loud, and I'm just waiting for the red ring. Controller uses batteries which is super lame. Not enough hard drive space (I'm using 20GB system), and because MS doesn't allow for third party HDs like the PS3. The 360 HDs are just a complete ripoff. I also don't like the fact you have to pay to play online multiplayer, when the PS3 does the same exact thing for free and there is virtually no difference between the two at this point. My downloads are even slower than the PS3's so I don't even bother with demos or anything from the Marketplace, which doesn't matter anyway because I have no damn space for them.
Very few must have exclusives at this point that's worth buying the system for. However, as a cheap ass, the games are generally cheaper on the 360 than the PS3. PS3 games never seem to drop, and the deals are always cheaper for 360 games.
I'm also leery of downloading anything for the 360 because of MS' handling of the original Xbox and how that stuff is just completely gone now. I think it's a huge issue that's never talked about. They still haven't said how they're going to handle 360 DLC and games down the line. We'll probably all just end up getting screwed over.
Wii: 2
I don't really play my Wii, but there's some great games on the system. I can't stand motion controls and I think it negatively affects a lot of games. I wish I could get into it, but I just can't.
On the RE1 controls, I never noticed it back in the day, but after about 15 years, they do pretty much suck. They're still amazing games, but sometimes those controls can get to you.
Good show guys.

I'm pretty excited about Kinect and Dance Central. I love dancing games and this one looks like it's going to be a lot of fun. I know most CAGs don't seem to like it, but I can't wait for the Microsoft Store to ship my $99 Kinect Sensor!
I'll also definitely be taking advantage of Target's Buy 2, Get 1 sale next week to get cheaper Kinect games and while I agree that the Kinect is expensive even with the deals, it's probably cheaper than what others have paid to play Rockband/Guitar Hero.
I think the Move/Kinect will probably succeed. The Move has been selling well in Europe/US (I think it's sold something like 2.5 million so far) and I've been pretty pleased with what's out so far along with the games on the horizon. I think the Kinect will do well (based on the pre-orders), but I think the problem will be in the number of games. However, if it sells like the analysts think it will, then developers will be quick to support it.
...I just hope Sega releases a new Space Channel 5 on either the Kinect or the Move and/or they re-release Space Channel 5 Parts 1 and 2 on the PSN/XBLA with optional Kinect/Move controls.

Hey, I want to rate my consoles too.
Keep in mind that I've only had my Xbox 360 for less than two years ( I bought it when Street Fighter Iv came out), and that I bought my PS3 a few months ago.
Xbox 360: 4, leaning towards a five. I was completely bummed when I got the RRoD five months after getting my Xbox 360, but I got my console back in less than a week (and I live in Puerto Rico, go figure). Other than that, and the annoying people who love to call me $$$$er/spic/$$$/jew whenever I'm playing against them, I must say it's a very good console. My console doesn't make any noise (weird, considering it's an older, Kung Fu Panda/ Lego Indiana Jones bundle console), and while the whole circular scratch thing that happens when you accidentally tip your console or something drops on top of it while playing a game is pretty annoying, and paying for being able to play online with your friends is pretty annoying, I can't really complain. Most of the games I own are Xbox 360 games, and it is very rare when I get a bad connection when playing online, but that has to do with my shitty Internet provider. Most people complain about the control, but I really like it. It's comfortable, it is way better for fighting games than the PS3 controller, and I can plug it in, use batteries, or use a rechargeable battery pack, and I think it's good to have as many options as possible when dealing with one of the key factors to your playing experience.
PS3: 3, leaning towards a 4.
I bought because I wanted a Blu Ray player, even though I'm using an old TV (but it looks really good, and it doesn't lag, which is awesome), and there were some games I've always wanted to play like Metal Gear Solid 4 and Demon's Souls. I was a PS2 fan-boy, and I loved 6the controller, but I don't know if it's because I haven't touched a PS2 controller in many years after my console broke down, but the controller feels pretty stiff compared to the Xbox 360 controller. I've only played Super Street Fighter IV online on the PS3, but it seems that I get better connections on the 360 than on the PS3, although somebody told me the PS3 networking thing works better when you play online with people who live in your area. I still have to play more PS3 exclusives, and while I own Super Street Fighter IV for both PS3 and Xbox 360, I tend t6o buy multi platform games for my 360 more often, since they are usually cheaper than PS3 games. Blu Ray movies look awesome and very crisp, and I'm hooked with Demon's Souls, 3D Dot Game Heroes, and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, but I must say, I've still have to experience "that" game that makes me go nuts over my PS3. Also, I agree with you guys about the whole PS3 updates every time I want to play a game, or every now and then when I turn on my console. It is annoying, and while the Xbox 360 also has regular updates, they seem to be smaller in size than PS3 updates, which take like half an hour to download, which is ridiculous. Also, having to get a Bluetooth headset so you can talk with your friends on PS3 while playing is even more annoying than that cheap, Xbox 360 headset. Sure, I can get one on the cheap online, but Sony should at least bundled a cheap one with the console, like Microsoft did.
I thought about getting a Wii, but the whole "setting-up-the-sensor-bar-and-calibrate-your-Wiimote" things is a turn off for me. There are games I would love to play like Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Sin & Punishment, or New Super Mario Bros, but I can't justify getting a Wii right now. I can't say it is not tempting, especially when that new, Red Wii bundle is just around the corner, but I don't think I'm going to use it as much as I should.
Also, I really want to try out Fable III and Fallout: New Vegas, since those are the only "holiday season" games I'm kind of stoked about, but I haven't finished Fallout 3 (or the expansions), and I just recently started playing Fable II, so I guess I should finish what I have. I'm more interested in what Fable III has to offer, since Fallout: New Vegas looks exactly like Fallout 3, but I would love to try them as soon as I get rid of my backlog.
Last, but not least. I'm not into cellphones (I don't own one), and I'm not an analyst, but the PSP Phone reminds me of the N-gage. Sure, it is a nice idea, but considering it runs Android, which I guess is what most phones (except for the IPhone) use, I don't really see people going apeshit for it, like they do for anything Apple related over here. Hopefully, I'm wrong, but I don't see the average person, who is probably not a gamer, harassing his mobile service provider to stock up on PSP Phones so he or she can get one when there are so many better (or worse) options out there who appeal to a broader spectrum of consumers out there
Anyways, Happy Halloween, everyone.

Cheapy missed a perfectly good opportunity to say, "After Shipwreck used my toilet, his buttcheeks was warm." :D
I totally agree with Cheapy's criticisms of the PS3. It's so annoying to have to charge my controller using that tiny little cable that came with the system. I never have that problem with my Wii or 360 controllers, since I can simply put in a spare pair of batteries.

Am I the only one who liked the tank controls in the original survival horror games?
Sure, they were awful, but it really gave you that "helpless" feeling that is hard to find these days.
In a game like Deadspace, you always feel adequately equipped for any situation, making it less "survival" and more a shooting gallery.

Great show guys. Personally, I have gotten a fair amount of enjoyment of out the Nintendo Wii. While it doesn't have all the online features you would want in a modern system, I've drifted away from multiplayer over the years. I don't have to explain how bad people get on Xbox Live, and that has put me off from playing competitively, unless I know someone with it.
By the way, I'm surprised CheapyD didn't plug his Giantbomb page on the show. I was hoping Wombat would see it and start editing the wiki as a prank.
Don't you guys think that the best way for sony to get devs to make it android base? I'm sure more devs are looking in to android as the future of mobile games.

As video game podcasters/reviewers you feel like you have to play a lot of the new games. Have you heard the stat that only like 5% of the games sold are completed? How does an average person with a job, family, etc., who isn't into only one game a year (i.e. Madden or COD) find the time to play. I have a huge backlog and am making a vow not to buy anything until I get through it. Is the industry being overrun by Good* games (*that deserve a playthrough)? Is it setting itself up for backlash as supply outpaces demand, I mean the casual crowd brought in by the Wii fad, and soon by Kinect, are fickle and will drop these gimicks like they are hot. I'm just frustrated and overgamed.

Another thing that you need to look at is that the hardware. The wii uses CD-Rom technology that was used two generations ago. The 360 is using DVD-ROM technology, the same technology that they used on the X-Box. Sony is always trying to be innovative and trying to make advances. Though, by them doing that it hurt them in sales by releasing a $600 dollar system that only helped the 360 gain a larger grip hold on the third party market. The majority of all third party games where developed for the Playstation 2 last gen because it was the best selling system. The Wii can not handle the graphics like other current gen consoles so the next in line is the 360 with the higher consumer base.
If I had to rate my overall enjoyment of all three, both PS3 and 360 would be a solid 4. The 360 has brought some good games out and has also innovated the online experience. Oh, and of course they came up with a universal bragging right of how big of a gamer you are with the Gamer Score. They have done so much right with online and creating a great community it is awesome. They have also been cock blocking Sony by getting mainly timed exclusives to the system making consumers think that it is only available on the 360. This has even mad Sony start putting "Only on Playstation" on its games two years ago. This was never done in Sony's history before.
Of course the bad things with the 360. Their overall online marketplace has hurt the consumers. We now see content on disc that is only unlocked by purchasing the DLC for it to unlock. Their over all Microsoft Points system is confusing to consumers and the average consumer is not aware that 80 points equals a dollar. As Wombat mentioned, they have the worst customer service I have ever had to deal with, Sony is awesome in this department. Of course the huge failure rate is unacceptable period. Finally, they have no real first party line up to rival Nintendo or Sony. I would like to see more First Party titles come out for them instead of seeing them pay for third party time exclusive. If they pay a Developer to develop a game for them, it would be nice if they actually owned the property. Sony was able to secure Ratchet and Clank through Insomniac, why can't Microsoft secure the actual rights to games instead of a year of exclusiveness?

For anyone in the US, if you go to Xbox.com and sign in > Accounts > Upgrade/Manage Accounts > click on whatever automatic renewal is highlighted you can shut off (or set up) auto renewal after going through a few ad pages.
And personally, aside from not being able to check my inventory unless I go to a Pawn Broker, I really, really like what they did with Fable 3's menus. In fact, I like pretty much everything in the game. If anyone is having frame rate problems, turn off orbs; it worked for me, at least.

I know exactly how Wombat feels about his Gold subscription getting automatically renewed since mine is coming up on November 1st. I found out the hard way when they had that one dollar for a month of Gold deal awhile back, the time it took me to phone and cancel before the renewal had me rethink the value of a dollar.
So when I decided to pony up and get a Gold subscription (mainly for access to the Forza 3 auction house) I thought that since I bought the Gold membership from a retailer that I wouldn’t be held at renewal gunpoint when the time came, I was sadly mistaken. Microsoft had my credit card information and they were willing to use it against me, so I decided to do something that I feel pretty proud about. I switched my billing information from my current credit card to a pre-loadable credit card someone had given me with one dollar left on it, then I tested my theory by trying to buy points with no avail...You blood suckers will never get my credit info again, take that Microsoft!!!

Wombat is absolutely right about the Imaginext Batman gear. My son recently received the Batmobile, Batcycle, and Joker's Lair for his 3rd birthday and he literally went batsh!t insane with excitement. He has been playing with them for weeks non-stop. I'd be willing to bet that Cheapy's son will love it.
Re: Kirby's Epic Yarn
I bought this on release day and my 5 year old daughter LOVES it. She's played over 20 hours over the past couple weeks in hour or 2 hour increments after school. She has played through the first few levels to gain beads and decorate her in-game apartment so many times that I honestly think that this game will be HER Super Mario Bros. levels 1-1 and 1-2. Additionally, with the possible exception of the two SMG games, this is the best looking game on the Wii.

It's too bad the the force unleashed 2 isn't getting any love. As someone who bought the Sith Edition last year, I had a blast with all the dlc, the story, and concept. BTW, the Force Unleashed came out in 2008 giving them about two years to make the game, but I'm sure it ended up being less than that because they had to start from scratch with no staff (which most likely killed the spirit of the game), hardly any time to think of a good continuation of the story. and no time to have more of everything people loved about the original.

I think Kinect will have a good launch, as opposed to the Move - which had no game support. Sony should have waited until they at least had a workout game. Like it or not, those are good performaers. Playstation Move Heroes should have been a launch game, not waiting 6 months for it.
The problem with game development for the Kinect, however, is without an analog stick all action games will have to be on rails, which will be tiresome trend after a short while. I'm not sure an on- screen joystick like some Iphone games use would go over too well. But maybe this might close the gap a bit with PC gaming, using Kinect for point and click uses.
And Wombat, you don't need to use your basic weapons in Fable 3 to have them evlove. I never used them, but they continue to change color and shape depending on my overall actions in the game. Hey guys, love the show and hearing about the new releases helps me figure out whether or not they are worth picking up around launch. I hadn't really considered doing that with Rock Band 3 until you guys gave it such glowing reviews!
Keep up the good work, the three of you work great as a team!

Oh Cheapy, why do you not go into the PS3's XMB and have the controller shut off after a bit while its not in use? Its under "settings" and its under "power settings" or something like that....

On the console discussion: I agree with CheapyD on the batteries thing. I have an Eneloop charger and extra batteries and it's so nice to pop out the battery pack, replace the batteries, and keep on gaming wirelessly.
My personal rankings and why:
Xbox 360: 5
Despite being on my fifth 360 (Only paid for two, the Original and my new Slim) I love the thing to death. Plus, the hardware improvements on the Slim are very noticeable. With my original, I had to install my games to keep the noise down, which ate up HDD space like crazy. My Slim is quieter without installs compared to my original with installs and I now have 186GB free on my HDD.
There's also the whole Xbox Live thing (I pay for it because I see the value in it and, thanks to this site, I've never paid full price), all my friends are on Live, I prefer the controller, I like the game selection, and my annoyances (Buying stuff with points instead of cash) are minor.
Wii gets a 4 because it's a great party console and it has Virtual Console. I don't own a lot of disc-based non-party non-Nintendo first party titles, but I love what I have. The only real ding to it is it feels more like a compliment to the HD consoles than a counterpart.
PS3 gets a 1 because it died 18 months after I bought it. I had similar hardware issues with PS2, so I should have expected it. "It does everything" but the damn thing won't live long if you use it for everything. The primary use for the PS3 was Blu-Ray/Upscaling DVD player and it got a ton of use in those functions. I also used it for gaming, but I found myself playing multiplatform games on it over the exclusives.
If my PS3 was still alive it would be a 4 because I was really looking forward to inFamous 2 because I loved the hell out of the first one.
Overall, I thought you guys did a good show. Like Wombat, I loved the hell out of Fallout 3 but unlike Wombat I can't justify giving New Vegas a shot. I may pick it up when it hits $30 or goes GOTY (Assuming they have the thing playable by then) but there's just too much coming out and too much I need to catch up on for me to buy a broken $60 game.

Yeah the reason I remember the original Force Unleashed came out in fall 2008 was because it narrowly beat Quantum of Solice for the Best License game award on my podcast, mainly for its story tieing it in with the original trilogy. On pure gameplay, I think Quantum was better.
I think Thor's spot on because 90% of the staff was fired right before the first one came out, then the producer of the first two games and also the longest tenured employee left at Lucasarts left this summer and 90% of the staff was fired before the second game came out. Also the company has changed presidents 2 or 3 times in the last two years.
Cheapy don't forget the Undead DLC added two new multiplayer modes. 1 is not a major addition (land grab) but the 2nd is an undead horde style mode on a timer. It's basically a combination of Gears 2 Horde and LFD on speed. You only have a few minutes on each wave and if you don't kill the undead in time, then respawns and ammo drops are turned off for you, and the zombies keep respawning until you die.
If anyone hasn't bought any Red Dead pay DLC, then I would HIGHLY suggest the $20 bundle available on XBL and PSN which is all 3 pay packs in 1 (essentially B2G1F.) The pay pack from Sept. that added multiplayer Liar's Dice, Poker, and Horse Races, along with a new multiplayer mode, a new multiplayer weapon (exploding rifle,) and a lot more multiplayer hunting grounds is worth it owning. Then you get the Aug. pay pack for free (which was just multiplayer maps, skins from the first Red Dead game, and a new weapon.)

Great show guys! You totally sold me on RockBand 3 with the Keyboard...Now to try to convince my wife that the $130 keyboard bundle is a worthy investment to "learn a musical instrument".
Oh and wombat, you got dangerously close to the new Kotaku review scheme when talking about who should care/buy it for Fallout 3: NV. We'll let it slide this time, but stick to the 3 word CAG-style in the future.
You might want to check dell.com to see if they're still selling that bundle (at least on 360) for $99.99 and free shipping (not sure on tax.) They were earlier this week.

I agree with the assessment of system enjoyment.
I like the xbox, but I don't enjoy the community that much. The PS3 is nice, but they seem to be spending so much time and money to market it and not enough to flesh out their system. Half-assed home, half-assed PS+, half-done XMB. You'd think they would learn from everywhere else. And the Wii just feels like it's randomly gasping out as it dies.

My ratings for the consoles:
XBox 360- 4
Have to knock down a point for the hardware failures. I'm on my 5th system (only bought 2- launch unit and HDMI Arcade unit in Sept. 08) and that's just unacceptable. Only thing saving the 360 was the PAST lineup of exclusives and its online network blowing away anything else available. Also the controller is awesome for anything that doesn't need to use the D-Pad (old school arcade games/fighters.) Best lineup of games, and plenty of games available for under $30 new or under $20 used.
PS3- 4
Much more reliable system overall but older units are starting to fail. PS3 firmware updates are not an issue if you turn on the console at least once a week to check out the PSN Store (which updates around 7-8 p.m. eastern each Tuesday.) Biggest issues are SLLLLOWWWW downloads regardless of your US internet connection and almost all of the games having to install data to the HDD before you can play the game. Playing a new release can take anywhere from 1-20 minutes after insertion before you can play depending on the install size.
I think the PS3 is a 4 out of 5 now because its exclusives blow away the 360's lineup. All the 360 has left as quality retail exclusives are the Halo, Gears, Forza, and Fable series, Tales of Vesperia (in North America/Europe only), Lost Odyssey, and Mass Effect 1. 360 has no more retail exclusives left for 2011 and beyond other than Kinect games and Gears 3. The 360 does get timed exclusive DLC a lot, but it eventually comes out on PSN anyway.
The PS3 has a huge lineup of first/second party exclusive retail games (GoW series, Killzone series, Uncharted series, Sly Cooper Collection, Infamous, Ico/Shadow of the Collossus collection, Ratchet and Clank series, MLB The Show, MGS 4, Demon's Souls, 3D Dot Game Heroes, Gran Turismo, Buzz, MAG, Socom, Infamous, Time Crisis, and Heavy Rain) plus you have the Move lineup of games which I think is superior to the Kinect lineup when you factor in the games (Heavy Rain, Tiger Woods, MAG, RE 5 Gold Edition) that have patched in Move support already.
Also there are some third party games that have more content on the PS3 version (Batman: AA, Mirror's Edge [free DLC pack], Alone in the Dark, Dante's Inferno, RE 5: Gold Edition, MoH, and Dead Space 2.) Some would even argue that the Ninja Gaiden Sigma series are better than the XBox Ninja Gaiden games. If the L2/R2 triggers are an issue, I would HIGHLY recommend the $5 trigger buttons that slide onto the L2/R2 buttons. That eliminates 90% of the problems I have using the L2/R2 buttons on the Dual Shock 3.
If you're a casual game player or someone with kids that isn't going to be online each night, then PSN is ok because of the free cost, but you get what you pay for. XBL is a superior service, but you have to use it almost daily to get the cost-benefit vs. a free PSN account.
Also if you use your PS3 as a media hub (Play On software, Windows Media Center, etc.) then the XMB beats the layout on the 360 IMO. Also the PS3 is still one of the best Blu-Ray players out there and it's upscaling on DVD's is better than the 360 IMO. Also you can replace the HDD with any standard labtop sized drive vs. being stuck with MS proprietary stuff.
Wii- 1
My catchphrase on my podcast when talking about Nintendo is, "I didn't leave Nintendo, Nintendo left me," so I may not be the best voice on the Wii. That said, horrible online interface, only good downloadable games are pretty much only games from the last decade (Virtual Console,) tons of CRAP shovelware to sift through to find the few worthwhile games, motion controls being on everything when sometimes it doesn't need it, and the controller being uncomfortable to use when sideways (NSMB and Punch Out.)
A prediction I have for 2011 is Sega and Capcom are going to port their mature titles on the Wii (House of the Dead games, Madworld, RE: Umbrella Chronicles/Darkside Chronicles, etc.) to PS3 with the Move. We've already seen No More Heroes go exclusive on PS3 and Dead Space Extraction being included on the PS3 version of Dead Space 2.

I would give the 360 a 4 because of affordability. You have to pay for online (and will soon have to pay more) and Microsoft won't let developers release very much for free. 360 also suffers the most if you compare it to PC gaming. You can get almost everything on the 360 for much cheaper off of Steam.

The 360 Blade sytem was just fine, when they went to the current system that was just a huge learning curve that took something very easy and simple to navigate and made it into a huge cluster fuck to navigate. Than adding the Zune store added loading to look at movies.........? they took something that worked just fine and over complictaed it and know we have to see a loading screen to browse movies. I would love to go back to the Blade system any time. The XMB is nice, but it does need a makeover of sorts, seems dated.

I agree with all the system ratings from the point of view of what you like playing games on. However, if you are going to start to factor in hardware differences then you also have to factor in cost and additional features. PS3 was the most expensive when it launched (I think I paid Best Buy almost $1,000 the day I got my system) but it came with features that a redesigned 360 still lacks. Most notably blu-ray, user replaceable hard drive, and wi-fi. Microsoft released a wi-fi adapter, but it was overpriced and underpowered (can't work with WPA2). For the same price you can and should get an Apple AirPort Express which is way more useful (I don't travel without one). So if you wanted to add a larger HD and wi-fi to your 360 then it was about another $250 and don't forget the extra $150 for the HD-DVD drive.
I think dollar for dollar PS3 is a better system, but prefer the 360 from a personal POV. By the way, my launch system never died but my 60gb model died in under 6-weeks.
I've been hearing about people learning the guitar parts of songs by playing rock band 3 (with pro guitar, of course). Hit that up!

I can't speak on redheads, but I would assume they would treat them the same way as blonds. No one would dare touch me. However, I bring blond children with me and old people are coming out of nowhere to stroke their hair. That's about as disturbing as I will deal with. Those kids were goddamn celebrities out there, like no one had ever seen blond hair before.

The original Resident Evil had horrible controls, but when you look in retrospect, the game was a major leap forward in horror games. Most past games are horrible if you look at them in today's eyes. Goldeneye, for instance had horrible controls, but back then, the game was a major leap forward in fps's on the consoles.

I never said it wasn't easy to use, and never mentioned ads. I said it was half-done.
According to what the PS3 likes to promise people, it doesn't have all of its features. But this happens to all of their so-called projects. Thus, it is half-done, like everything else they have, until they at least do what they said they were going to do to catch up to their promises.
I'd like it to actually 'do everything.' But before then, it can continue running for president. (You know. Advertising empty promises to gain popular vote.)

I feel it's missing proper customization. Why can't I turn off stuff like 'music' and 'video' if I don't want them there? If i'm into design, why don't they make a smaller dev kit for dynamic backgrounds rather than (supposedly) requiring the main dev kit? Why remove OtherOS? Was it to stop people from playing SNES roms on there? All it did was infuriate the 'hackers' more, and caused the reverse engineering process to go by much quicker. The cross-game chat would be nice. And maybe my own personal avatar rather than their 50 cent ones.
But I have no actual problem with the XMB. I don't see how you translated what I said into 'it doesn't work.' I said it's half-done. That's it. It's like a really extended beta to what they want to fully accomplish before making it 'better.' Minecraft isn't close to being finished, but it's still incredibly popular and it works really well.
I do prefer the XMB's simplicity over the 360's. But the way you guys defend it makes it feel like the whole Mac vs PC thing.

Same here, except I'm waiting for Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate edition to drop in price. I loved KOTOR 2, and I heard the game is pretty similar in terms of how you play it. Plus, with this edition, I get EVERYTHING this game has to offer. It's such a great deal, but I don't have 60 bones to drop on it right now. I completely agree about the handling in NFS: Hot Pursuit. Handling is just a bit sluggish
It does feel a bit weird, but the drifting seems just right for some reason. Either that, or I was just able to manipulate the controls so I could win the races easily. I say if the game handled like either Burnout Paradise or Most Wanted, then it would be amazing.
Speaking of Burnout Paradise, does anyone know where I can get the Ultimate Box for under $20 for the 360?

I stopped playing RE4 really fast because the controls were so awful, so bad I couldn't give them a 2nd chance.
Even though they're basically the same controls, I could barely play RE5 for some reason. I beat RE4 twice, and I actually like those controls. For the time, it gave the right amount of intensity within certain situations in the game. It would have done well with a sprint button instead of just a run buttion, though.
I saw a playthrough of RE5 a few months back, and it's easy to see they should have just let you freaking move when you shoot. In the later levels, the guys have freaking guns!

I wonder if there was a black guy with a large briefcase running around on the island lol. That's very interesting, though. Never thought that place was based off an actual place. This may also explain why the Heaven Smiles are invisible to begin with. I already know that Emir had to give up his Third Eye during Smile .

Shipwreck...in regards to the escalators in Japanese department stores and escaping during a fire, they often have very large and wide stairwells, usually in the back...I generally seek them out when I'm leaving because they are usually completely empty and you can go down them much faster than the escalators....Esp in stores like Takashimaya times square, which might be 14 stories tall, and it can take a long time to get out the building via the escalators.

Another good show. I definitely feel like Black Ops is going to at minimum score below a 90 on metacritic by default regardless of whether or not it's a better game then MW 2.
World at War was up the standard that Modern Warfare offered and was even better in some regards. But WaW wasn't really treated to anywhere near the same level of critical acclaim because it was made by Treyarch who many journalists still unfairly consider to be a second class dev.

In my opinion the Ps3 is a better console than the 360. There are more quality exclusives on the ps3, such as MLB the show, uncharted, god of war, etc. But the main reason you guys forgot to mention is that the ps3 can be your main entertainment hub. It sounds like you guys use your ps3 only for gaming, but I use my ps3 to watch tv on the play on media server, watch blue rays, surf the net, to display pics and videos to friends and family when they visit, to play movies off a USB drive and of course play games. I am sure there are plenty of people out there like me.
Since launch I've had 2 360s and while I do like it, there are a few thing that drive me crazy about the 360. I hate having to find batteries for the controller, unlike cheapy, I don't have an endless AA battery supply. I hate the interface, and the avatars. I hate the nickel and diming for wireless adapters, hard drives, online, etc. The only thing 360 has in it's favor is that our friends are on live, and people always go where there friends are.

Thanks for another great show. I can say I look forward to listening to you guys every week, which is the only podcast I listen to.
Shipwreck, thanks for the tip on Alundra. Any possibility of a retro game recommendation every other week or so? It doesn't necessarily need to have been released on one of the game download services.
Thanks guys

Good show guys. Totally agree about Game Dev Story. The only problem with it is that it's so hard to put down you'll finish it really quickly. I wish you guys had talked a little more about Ship's Japan trip though. Otherwise, good show overall.

Great show guys. Welcome back, Shipwreck.
In my opinion the Ps3 is a better console than the 360. The quality of game exclusives is completely subjective, some people would rather play Gears, Halo, and Fable. I also believe that Cheapy has mentioned in the past that he has a mac mini or something hooked up to the TV, so he wouldn't be using the PS3 for streaming since he has a better solution.
PlayOn and playing video, music, and photos off USB drives are things that the 360 also does. And companies have been making rechargeable AA batteries for decades now. You don't need an endless supply. If you keep a pair in the controller and a pair on the charger, you never have to stop playing or have any wires going across the living room. An Xbox 360 controller retails for $50 and the PS3 Controller retails for $55. That $5 will buy you 4 good quality batteries online. And it's not like you have to factor in the charger as another expense for the 360, because a lot of people need batteries for remotes, cameras, toys, wireless computer peripherals, and even toothbrushes.
Another solid show. I have been so busy over the past few months the CAGcast is the only time I get my gaming fix.

Great podcast guys, though I do differ a little on the rating 1 to 5 for this gen systems. With the 360 I can't see giving it a 5 with the hardware issues.I'd say a four max,PS3 four, and the Wii 2 at the most.

I agree about the exclusives being subjective no issues there. I haven't used the Playon or streaming on the 360 yet, but the GUI on the ps3 is so fast and easy to navigate, to me it's much better. The battery thing..it is really annoying to me. With the 360 I have to find new batteries often, and I do have a battery charger but it automatically shuts off when the batteries are full, meaning you cannot just leave a set of batteries in it fully charged without constantly manually turning it on again. Perhaps I need to invest in a new solution, but I just feel the ps3 much easier..I keep one controller plugged in to charge and the other I use to play, and I switch these out as needed.
Like I said..I like my 360 even though I got the RROD on my launch model. The two main things for me are , I enjoy the ps3 more as an entertainment option, and enjoy the games more, however I enjoy the 360 for the feeling of community. To each his own.

I'm disappointed that there wasn't a CAGcast while Shipwreck was in Japan. Even Mrs. Shipwreck could have participated for some retro Foreplay action. Sad :(
This was a great episode though. Seemed to flow a little better than usual. I like how the past few episodes has all the twitter/FB/CAG comments being sprinkled throughout rather than in a mostly redundant section at the end. Yeah!
Bring back developer theatre!
I recently supported you guys by picking up $150 worth of domains (5 year term) at GoDaddy, so you better keep it up :D

I find it interesting how Wombat has changed since the introduction of shipwreck into the show. While Shipwreck has been slowly evolving into the controversial ginger tweeter-bomber, Wombat is slowly becoming the snugly old timer who wants everyone to feel comfortable and content (with the occasional joke here and there). Sometimes even Cheapy gets some of it too (in the way of cutting off ramblings with no sultry insult or the likes) and I believe part of it is because both of you feel old, which is utterly ridiculous since none of you are even close to hitting above their mid-forties. My other guess is that your work and families drain you from that scandalous energy we all need. I'm just saying this because I want my two poop-joking, conspiracy-spewing, controversial Internet Space Pimp and rabid Wombat I came to love. Or maybe I just want more poop jokes, who knows? {Great 6 minutes last CAGcast by the way.}
PS- Berating each other is always great fun for fake radio; extent this further to the spectrum of personalities ranging from Bobby Kotick to Justin McElroy for a great time (for the audience, since we don't get the repercussions)!

Enjoyed the show, as always. I own all three consoles, and my ratings for them line up pretty much exactly the same as Cheapy's, for the same reasons. My 360 is my go-to console, and I almost always buy the 360 version of multi-platform titles that I purchase. It gets the vast majority of my gaming time, so I'd give it a 5. I've enjoyed a lot of PS3 exclusives quite a bit, but I use it more to watch Blu-rays than play games, and those horrendous updates knock it down to a 3 almost by themselves. Like Cheapy, I can't even remember the last time I used my Wii. From me, it gets a 1 (I'm sure it would score much higher from my wife and kids, who do put it to regular use)

Resident evil was made the way it was to add to the horror of being trapped and escaping zombies. Don't look at it as "WTF can't get away game sucks" but as "omg how would I really get away if this was real! Omg I'm scarred"

Best show in awhile - good job guys. Regarding the Red Dead DLC that you discussed, I rather like the idea of what the devs did there. After they put all the effort into creating a game world, various engines, menus, etc, why not keep using it to essentially put new games into that world? You can think about it like getting a short sequel where they didn't really improve much, but for only $10! Hell, we get short sequels where the devs don't improve much all the time for $60 a year after the original.
PS: I don't see how you can give a console what has broken on you twice plus on countless other gamers a 5. Shouldn't that knock it down to a 4 automatically?

Good show guys. Looks like Shipwreck unleashed his otaku powers in Japan. Wow, Wombat played games! Can't wait to hear Wombat's thoughts on Fable 3 as he progresses further into the game. I'm still quite skeptical about buying Fable 3.

I guess I'll play ball:
PS3: 5 - I've used it the most, and I've had the most fun while playing both SP and MP (primarily Borderlands). Games like Infamous, both R&C Futures, and both Unchatreds make me proud to own this system
Xbox 360: 4.5 - Though I've also played this system a lot, I've found it to be primarily about shooting guys in the face in order to progress forward. I mostly play the system for SP games only, since I don't feel like dropping X amount of dollars to play online only to get rocked and never play those games online again.
Wii: 3 - There are solid games on there, but most of them either don't need any motion controls or were ports from older systems. The two games I would recommend for this system are Metroid Prime Trilogy and Super Mario Galaxy. Everything else, from No More Heroes to Okami, feel like they could play better with a normal controller. I also rarely if ever am able to connect onto the Internet with the system, so I can't even play games like Brawl online (that's probably just my wireless acting up, though).
I've never tried to tally up my favorite systems' features before, so it feels pretty odd to do so.
Also, have CheapyD, Wombat, and Shipwreck stated the winners of the Vanquish contest? I've been through two contests here, and with my experience I find they're terrible with stating who won those contests. I had to sift through numerous pages in the forums just to get a poorly formatted list of winners. It would just be easier to edit the first page and put the winners' names there, instead.

Cheepy I too share your need for a clean post poo fanny. I started using cottonelle fresh wipes and now I can't imagine a bm without them. They are sold in most major big box stores by the tp. They have the at home box but the big saving grace is the to go wipes that look like those packets of hand wipes. I always make sure I have one on my person (three if eating mexican) at all times. Loved the show.

Nice show, figured it would be with all the games out. Give Super Meat Boy another try, the game is seriously addictive and a great deal at $10. The pacing in the demo does not match that of the actual game, the devs did an great job of scaling the difficulty. It is satisfying to "learn" a level and pull of moves that seemed impossible at first attempt.

Never had issues with my PS3 since I use it the most, occasionally I have to download an update but it never takes that long really. I have a dedicated charging unit for my controllers so I don't have the same issues as CheapyD has when it comes to the controllers. At the same time I find myself going through many batteries with both my Wii and Xbox360 when I do play them. I did have to be careful with my Wiimotes and took out the batteries since I generally do not play that system and I've had batteries explode in controllers before.
Overall I would rank PS3 4(would pick 5 but there is always room for improvement which they have done in the past updates), Xbox 4(I'm tempted to pick 3 since I've had one fail on me), and Wii a 2(It has solid games but I just don't play it very often).

The control style in RE 1,2 and 3 is why I hadn't completed one of the games until 4 came out.
