I recently started playing Resident Evil Zero for GameCube. Anyone here ever play this game before? Are the faint sounds of footsteps those of survivors?

If you hear footsteps, tread carefully. Leave the ribbons you find by the typewriter to free up inventory space and use L in combat to lock-on (usually head shots do nicely, hold L and tilt the analog up, fire away)

Just beat this yesterday. Interesting experience. The gameplay is actually quite linear if you're smart about everything and search all the nook and crannies. It's tilted a bit more towards action, but lacks the set pieces and atmosphere of the best in the series. The puzzles are a bit less obtuse so you're less likely to run to Gamefaqs in case you get stuck. We only need gamefaqs once the entire time. Our completion time was like 13 hours and 50 minutes.

Then my friend and I jumped right into Resident Evil. In retrospect, Zero ends up being a nice little prologue as to RE, both in terms of story and gameplay. The atmosphere isn't as developed, the gameplay and puzzles are simpler, it's not as hard, and there is a distinct lack of dread in the game. But if you like RE (old), you'll enjoy this.

Ahh ... RE0 -- the forgotten series entry. Hard to believe this is the only RE game that hasn't yet been ported over to any other console.

It's been ported to the Wii under the "Resident Evil Archives" banner, for whatever that's worth.

This title I need to resume some day soon. I left off just after entering the mansion. I dreaded the encounter with that lurker in the hallway on the left.

Personally, I think this is the best game in the series. It was easy as hell, but I had a blast playing it, unlike RE3 and anything after that. Most games aren't able to startle me because thanks to RE0, I now always expect scary shit to jump out at me when I go into bathrooms.

Just bought Resident Evil Archives for Wii. Will be starting that soon. Never played the original. The tank controls pissed me off. I'm older and more patient now, so hopefully i can live with them this time.
