i ggot a dreamcast off of ebay a monmth or two ago... about a week before ebgames .com started selling them. dammit. anyway i hooked it up for the last time last night and it will only play 1 of my games! well i didnt actually try all of them because it was late and my friend was over so i just tried my multiplayer titles. i tried soul calibur, marvel vs capcom, chu chu rocket, and street fighter alpha 3. the only one that loaded was sfa3. the others just brought me to that menu screen. none of the games are new, they were all aquired through trades here but all are in absolute mint condition. is this similiar to the ps2 disc read error? how, if at all can it be fixed?

Sorry Metroid, I just gotta ask, are you trying cdrs? Not all dreamcasts are able to read the efficently. Other than that I would blow some canned air in there. Also early dreamcast models can easily suffer heat problems that could result in DREs. Ill let you know if i find anything else out. Sorry :(*

Try taking out the memory card when you load the game. You can put it back in after the game boots up. For some strange reason, this is a problem for some dreamcast systems and games.

they are the original games. it is a model 1 but i doubt it overheated since the first time i plugged it in was last night.

but you got it off ebay, it could have overheated and been messed up to begin with. What date is on the bottom of the system?

Ok, try this,
Turn the system on with a game that does not working, with the system upside down. Sometimes in systems the laser assembly becomes disaligned, and when its upside down gravity will force the laser back in place. Let me know the results

street fighter alpha 3
resident evil code veronics
sonic adventure
heres what doesnt work:
shenmue
marvel vs. capcom
chu chu rocket
tennis 2k2
soul calibur
i tried each game with and without the vmu and it made no difference. i actually got marvel vs capcom to work once but it made a loud buzzing sound the whole time and then froze when i was in a fight.

boil thost bad boys, DC games that don't boot sometimes need to be boiled. I know it has worked for a few people.

Metroid, try this. Turn on the DC and then insert the game. See if the system is set to autobott when a game is in, or manual. IF the auto boot doesn't work then change the settings to manual, turn on the system insert the game and then select playing it. I know it sounds redundant, but this was a problem for me with a couple of games. Good Luck

Sorry I meant autoboot. Not autobot (Transformers on the brain).

Try cleaning the cd. It may be just dirty.
