Did anyone else pick this up today? I actually like it... it's more actionheavy than the city tour that was Jak II (though there still are moments where you do a lot of trekking by foot). I like it thus far. Still prefer the Ratchet and Clank series over this one though.

Gonna pick it up today. I also prefer R&C over J&D.

Fair warning to everyone: this game is SHORT... I'm 3 hours into it and nearly 45% done... err... what?! I'm going to hurry and finish it up so I can use it as trade bait for my DS.

I went to get mine today and this is what happend as posted on my site:
Those of you that know me personally know I have an over-abundance of patience. I can let things roll of my back with the best of them. Regulars of the site also know that we jock the EB Games store run by Wraith any chance we get. I want to share a story with you that is a shining example of why that is.
I just had lunch with Dots and since I preordered Jak III at Gamerush due to a sweet promotion I figured I would go pick it up. Ship date was Tuesday so they should have it right? I walk in there and tell the clerk that I have it preordered and tell him my last name. He tells me "Well the games haven't really been prepped". I look over at the Gamerush counter to see tons of boxes presumably filled with games. I ask "But you guys have it right?" He says "Yes sir". I reply "But you won't give it to me?" He says "Nope, try back tomorrow".
I have shopped at this Rush not very long but the Manager is really cool and generally takes care of the crew. Since when is it so hard to walk over and open the box and give me the game? There was an older couple in the store browsing movies and that was it. Nobody else in there. Since when did it become so difficult to do your job and please the customer? Wraith's employees don't find it that difficult and often go out of their way to help customers. Lesson learned I guess. Back to shopping exclusively at EB with Wraith.

Jak 2 is pretty long, I'm surprised the third is short.

The 'length' comes likely for the QUEST FOR THE 600 PRECURSOR ORBS... why the caps? Well, the search is by far the most asinine thing added to an adventure game in eons... basically, you give a totem or ? sign 4 metal head orbs, then you're given a chance to go and find the location that is shown in the 3 second still. Sure, that might have been easier, say it, the bacgrounds didn't all look the same? It took me 15 minutes to realize that one of the locations was up in the air, and not on the ground... oh gee, way to go, Naughty Dog...

Hmmm I'm planning on picking it up this weekend. i wonder why its so short this time around? Maybe it's because Naughty Dog had less time to do this one?

They built a system of tag team development with Insomniac to push games out the door in about 6-12 months so I don't think that is the case.

Was the 11 hours worht it? That's not bad if the story/gameplay was good. I'm just thinking of MGS (Metal Gear Solid) which I thougt was short but was one of the greatest gaming experiences I have ever had.

It REALLY helps if [you] play the games in order, start to finish. Jak and Daxter make events of Jak II make sense... and the events of II make sense in 3. And the ending of 3 is fulfilling... it's not a letdown like most game endings are. Without giving it away, basically all the loose ends are tied up, but it leaves the door open for more adventures, which, if you're a fan of the series, is a good thing.
