Well, it looks like I've had my first dead beat bidder. They won the product last week and have not responded to a single one of my e-mails requesting method of payment. What should I do? Is there a way for me to not have to pay Ebay's percentage of the sale since no money changed hands? At what point do I give negative feedback? The item was won on Saturday. Thanks.

There should be a link to how to file a NPB request on your seller page on your MY Ebay page.

I forget the specifics of how long you have to wait and everything, but they should explain it there. You should get all your fee's refunded for the item. As for leaving feedback, be careful because if you leave negative feedback there is a decent chance the dead beat will retalliate with negative feedback for you.

Yes I really wish ebay would fix that problem.

Did the auction specify an amount of time that the buyers have to pay by? I usually state they need to pay in seven days and a lot of people wait until the seventh day to pay. I just keep sending invoices and payment reminders and I haven't had one back out yet. I think you need to wait either 15 or 30 days until you can file a NPB complaint, I don't remember which one.

That was actually one of my problems. With all my subsequent auctions I specified that I had to receive payment in 10 days. But here I didn't mention anything so now i'm just sitting here forced to twiddle my fingers while this ass doesn't find it in his interest to pay me. I'll look for the look that you mentioned jimbodan. I'm still gonna cross my fingers and hope I get payed. Thanks for the help people.

Send ebay a user request and get thier name and phone# (Note: You can only do this on auctions you won or sold). Usually kicks people in the ass when they see that thier personal information has been requested. If that don't work, give them a call!

After 1 week you can start the NPB process on eBay. eBay contacts the buyer and if they don't respond within another week you can request your FVF be refunded. You don't get your insertion or other upgrades refunded (like gallery, bold, BIN) unfortunately. And your item is out of commision for at least 2 weeks while you wait for the NPB situation to finalize. A real drag.

Personally I don't leave negative feedback even for deadbeats. As I fear undeserved retaliatory negative feedback. This isn't the best for the eBay community, but I have to look out for myself.

Doesn't matter if you didn't specify a time period to pay in your auction, IMO. My system is this:

My PayPal is set up to automatically e-mail an invoice to all winners at auction close (big time saver). If they don't contact me within 3 days letting me know when/how they will pay or simply pay me, I e-mail them asking how they intend to pay. Usually I'll e-mail them again a few days later politely informing them I'll have to seek a refund of my fees from eBay if I don't hear from them by X date. If they don't respond to that I start the NPB process on eBay after 1 week or so.

I also give more leeway to someone with great feedback (say 50 or more with 95%+ positive), as I figure it's more likely to have just slipped their mind with these buyers.
