Well, I've only been to Bluefield and a couple other places before and it didn't seem that much different. It's got a rep for people being stupid, inbred hicks but it would be unfair to generalize the whole state in that fashion. It's like any other place, there is good and bad.

It's not a bad state. You've got places like:
Seneca Rocks - a rock climbing mecca
Spruce Knob - cool alpine flora
Lost River - the river that disappears
New River Gorge Bridge - you can parachute or bungee jump off the world's largest steel span and the second highest bridge in the United States.
Harper's Ferry - restored old town where Rob't E. Lee and J.E.B. Stuart captured John Brown.
Cheers - great bar in Charleston (don't know if it's still there or not)

Then you have great native brook trout fishing, virgin forest and....ah...oh yeah... the ticks, a lot of copperheads, and a lot, and I do mean a lot of people with blond hair and blue eyes that look amazingly alike on the homely side. :shock:
