Here's the entertainment software listings from the Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), Los Angeles/Orange County (LA), San Jose/Silicon Valley (SJ), and Washington state (WA) Fry's Ad(s). These prices are valid only for the dates listed in the subject line.

The items listed below are as they appear in the Fry's Ads. If an item is listed as "SJ only", for example, it could still be on sale at other locations (i.e. - San Diego, Sacramento, Austin, Houston, NV, AZ, OR, IL, GA), but it only appeared in the SJ ad. We have noticed that the Dallas Morning News and SJ Mercury News often run very similar ads. Also, the Chicago ads are often similar to the Seattle ads. However, since these ads are not available online, I cannot confirm them.

If anyone knows of a website to view any further ads, please let me know.

Unless otherwise indicated, items below are listed in all four (DFW, LA, SJ, and WA) ads.

Does anyone know if that vampire game is any good and if it's coming out on a console? I have a PC gamming machine, but I prefer playing on consoles.

I'd hardly call Metroid Prime 2, Need For Speed Underground, and LOTR Third Age for $40 lousy deals, but to each their own...

I have an important question, and I hope someone answers it for me -- I bought Metroid Prime 2:Echoes for 49.99 at my IL Fry's on Wednesday. It's on sale this weekend now for 39.99. I have not opened it yet. Can I get them to lower the cost for me on my purchase to match the new sale price? Or do I have to return it and then re-buy it? These games I'm buying this season are costing me an arm and a leg, and I'm trying to pinch any pennies I can.

Thanks in advance.

Well, since the sale price ($40) ended yesterday, you're probably going to have a tough time getting that price today.

EDIT: Looks like some Fry's still have the $40 price running.

Hey Luckychunk - I go to that IL Fry's too. I wish I had known about the MP2 deal, but since Fry's has sucked so much lately I just got it at BB for $45 with a GGC. To me it's really not worth the drive and the hassle for the other $5.

I also had the misfortune of trying to return something to Fry's once. I can honestly say that you should probably consider cutting your losses. If it's more than a 20 minute drive for you, just use all that time to dive into MP2. Unlike a lot of other games this season, it's totally worth the full price. Amazing game.

Umm. All this is assuming that they even still have the 39.99 price this weekend. Yeah - you should check that first. :)

I know for a fact that Metroid Prime 2 is 39.99 this weekend. I just received the 11/19 Friday ad in The Sun-Times this morning. NFSU2 is also 39.99, as well as a few others.

I'm gonna be back there this weekend -- I want to pick up Alien Hominid, NFSU2, and possibly Taiko:Drum Master. My plan is gonna be return Metroid Prime for in-store credit, and then re-buy it for the current sale price. I'm in no hurry to rip into Metroid, as my current backlog of unplayed games is over a mile long. My goal is to economically afford all the games I can this season.

Not all Fry's ads are the same, as indicated in the first post on this page. The IL Fry's ads has some variances that aren't seen in other Fry's ads.

I go there quite often, and some of the staff already recognize me. Hopefully, my plan will succeed.
