I haven't got a CD in years, I refused to pay for music, BUT I'm kinda paranoid with all the lawsuits, so I just don't listen to music anymore.

I haven't bought a cd in a long long time either, but I might get this one... truth be told it's such a hassle to download music these days, that it's almost cheaper (considering what I can do with the time) to just buy the cd.

I used to love LP but this idea makes me sick, I mean its friggen Jay-Z that's half a step up from Nelly.

I'm not too big on the whole mashups trend. The Grey Album was very good, but the buck stops there. I saw the video for the LP/Jay-Z collabo and didn't think much of it, so I won't be getting that CD release.
And zionoverfire, Jay-Z is much more than a half-step above Nelly. I'm not really a fan of Jay-Z -- I don't think he's done anything truly great since Reasonable Doubt -- but comparing him to Nelly is just a horrible thing to do. I don't agree with the way that Jay's taken his career but I can't really fault him that, and he does still possess great skill on the mic when he works toward loftier goals (witness his introspections on the Black Album). Nelly, on the other hand, holds no musical or intellectual interest whatsoever for me.
One thing I do find strange about the LP & Jay-Z mashup: While I'm not a huge fan of Linkin Park (they make some catchy tunes but they're too "angst" for me) I do know that they have great taste in underground hip hop, their own lack of rapping skills notwithstanding. I find it a bit strange that they're now working with Jay-Z, who's the opposite of past LP collaborators like Aceyalone, Zion I, and Chali 2na, but I guess LP just couldn't pass up the opportunity to work with someone of that stature in hip hop.

I used to really hate Jay-Z, basing my opinion off his singles. However, once I listened to some of the stuff off The Black Album, I changed my opinion. Encore by itstelf rocked, and I also like 99 Problems so far. As far as LPJZ, I'll definitely buy it. If the rest of the songs are half as good as Numb/Encore and 99 Problems/One Step Away/Points of Authority, it'll be a great CD. One thing I'll definitely give Jay is that he is a freaking awesome producer, and has some great beats, like the one in the original Encore.

I was disappointed by LP's latest album but I'm definitely looking forward to this one since I love Jay-Z. I don't buy CDs anymore since I just Torrent or IRC everything these days.
I actually didn't enjoy the Grey Album that much. Thought it was overrated. It was just the "in" album to like at the moment.
Jay-Z vs Nelly? WTF? No comparison at all. I can tell by the posts most of you aren't rap fans anyways so some might not be able to tell the difference in their styles.

why would you refuse to pay for music? that's ridiculous. if you actually enjoy a cd, why wouldn't you buy it?
anyways, i'm certainly not looking forward to this. i think both jay-z and linkin park are pretty horrible, so i can't imagine that the combination of the two will be very good. unless it's so bad that it actually goes full circle and becomes good again, but i doubt that.
i hated that "grey album" crap, too. i mean, it's like "hey, there's this really great album by the beatles, i wonder if i could take parts of it and make it suck." well, mission accomplished.

I think there are only six tracks. All of are just different twists on existing LP and Jay Z songs.
1. Dirt Off Your Shoulder/Lying From You
2. Big Pimpin'/Papercut
3. Jigga What/Faint
4. Numb/Encore
5. IZZO/In The End
6. Points Of Authority/99 Problems/One Step Closer

The Grey Album is an unofficial release that gained tons of notoriety for being the breakthrough mashup project. It was mixed by DJ Danger Mouse, using acapella tracks from Jay-Z's Black Album and instrumentals from The Beatles' White Album. (Black + White = Grey) You can find the MP3s at http://www.illegal-art.org/audio/grey.html
