I recently purchased a V600 T-Mobile phone. They told me (as did the brochure) that text messing and AOL Iming was FREE to receive. So I leave my phone on AOL most of the time, but I noticed my balance was quickly going down. So I did a test and signed my phone on to AIM and then IMed it from my computer... come to find out its been charging me like 20 cents every time somebody sends me a message. When I called to complain they tried saying all texts originated from my phone, which is completely BS because the time he gave me for the last text was the one I sent from my computer.... I am still on hold (have been for 10 min) , so I guess they are trying to come up with some excuse for this, but its really pissing me off... anyone else use T-Mobile and have a problem like this?
No, but I am giving a free bump so everyone can see this. Thanks for the info.!

I am on prepaid, and I am STILL on hold (this is the 5th time). They are trying to tell me I have sent 8 text messages just today (that Ive been charged for) , when I havent even sent one. All I have done is send IMs from my computer to my phone (to see if they were charging me for incomming messages), which obveously they are. If they don't fix this for me I guess I could report them to someone?

Ok now I am really fucking pissed off, after being on hold for an hour, he comes back saying... oh when you sign on to AIM on your phone it automatically sends EVERYONE on your mobile list a message which you are charged for. I proceeded to tell him it does say AOL is free and there is no mention of the charge anywhere, he basically said "too bad". I am going to turn them in to someone (just not sure who) .. who can I call to complain about this? Basically I've been getting ripped off out of a couple dollars a day just because of their false advertising.

I don't see anywhere in my paperwork that it charges you everytime you sign on AIM. They said it sends a message to everyone on your list (charging you for every one) when you sign on. The only thing they have mentioning AOL is that it is 10cents to send and free to receive... Who can I report this to? I am really pissed off

Maybe try speaking the CSR's manager or supervisor or maybe write a letter/email their coporate headquaters. Just a thought.

well are you using the aim through tzones? or do you have a built in client? i didnt know that it would charge you everytime you sign on....what i recommend is using the im forwarding feature on aim itself...that way im assuming your not signing on through their tzones service and you can reply to anyone who sends u an im.,

You need to mention you have a lawyer. Most places get scared and will refund your money. What works better is if you really did have a lawyer. What you do is find a lawyer and tell him you will pay him like 80 bucks to write a letter for you to their company. Most lawyers starting off could use the cash for just writing a letter.

My phone just has a AOL Instant Messanger mode where it actually signs you online. Basically what he told me is when you sign on it sends out a message to everyone on your list saying your on (I have never seen it do this with anyones phone before) and you get charged for every single one. The thing that pisses me off is in the paperwork and brochure it says AOL Instant Messaner.. 10 c to send, free to receive. When technically they are charging you just to sign on to the service, and I can't find this mentioned anywhere..

I've never really bothered signing into AIM on my phone, but thanks for the heads up. On a side note, YM is a far superior messaging system.
