View Full Version : Metroid Prime ending on Tech TV

I think we've all seen the end of Prime.
But one part particularly struck as weird - the awkward hosts take the time to point out specifically that Samus is a girl.
Did I step into a time warp back to 1986?
Were there people that actually assumed she was a male character all this time?
Or, did people just never play through the original?

If you've ever seen them answer viewer emails, you should know they don't know jack shit about games. That show is a disgrace to gamers everywhere.

Tommy Tallarico knows nothing about games and is a graphics and sound whore(he gave high heat and guilty gear x2 like less than a 2) and seems to have the worst taste ever. Also the whole channel is built for the casual gamer, when no casual gamer is going to watch that channel(no one cares about some gay Madden Challenge)

Uh. There are still some people that don't know the "secret" about Samus. Yeah. They're just a little behind the times..

You know, there are many times in the game where you see the reflection of her face in the visor. But yeah, TechTV and G4 are horrible, horrible networks.

Doesn't change the fact that people are stupid ;-). It seems everytime I sit down at a new location (public) and play Melee.. there's some guy who mentions something about Samus and says "he" several times, until someone decides to correct him. I just don't get it.

The view in the visor isn't exactly damning. The male leads in the recent Final Fantasies aren't exactly the most masculine looking characters to begin with... people could just chalk it up to those crazy femine looking male heroes from those japanese games.

I hare you all. Im my 'hood there isn't regular cable or even dsl. My 'hood is in a 2 mile "hole" in the comcast Network. I sooo wish i could know all thoes wonderful chanels you all speak of.

The thought that popped into my head when I got to thinking about it was "I wonder if there's any homosexual guy gamers who fantasized about Samus, only to have a 'Crying Game' moment at the end of the game."

LOL! I watch Judgement Day and Electric Playground just to see how weird they score the games. I think it's ok for Tommy to be a sound whore, since that's where he got his infamy in the business. My beef with the reviews is that they are so inconsistent. You can't trust either of the guys' opinions because they are all over the radar.
G4 itself is ok but they need some better shows. Cheat is the biggest waste of time EVER. I mean, they direct you to their website during the show! If you already have internet access, you don't need to watch Cheat!

Morgan says "for all the noobs out there...yes Samus is a girl...". Or at least something close to that. She was making a statement that was obvious to most, but not all and calling those who didn't know a noob. Believe it or not, some gamers are less than 10 and might not know that.
Having said all of that, I love X-Play and I loved it when it was Extended Play. I trust thier reviews more than any website review I've ever seen.

i had a friend, thinking he was all l337, and how he owns with that samus guy. im jsut like its not a guy. he was genuinely shocked.
and tech tv isnt that bad. x-play kinda sucks, but some of the other shows are good. screensavers actually helped me.

Why? Unless it has glaring errors, or is unpopular, you can just about bet that "X-Play gives this game 3 out of 5"

3 out of 5 on X-Play means it's average. And I agree there are a lot of average games out there.
You could make a case that the "out of 5" doesn't offer much to separate games. I would agree with that. But really when you listen to the review you can usually tell if it was teetering on a 4 or maybe a 2. I listen to the pros and cons during the review to help me decide. But more often than not I just buy games I know I'm gonna like.
