I'm probably the most deserving of this. I know very little about this game and what better way for me to learn about it than actually getting this very set?

If your a hardcore Ikargua fan you would already own the game LIKE ME :)
I'm hardcore by encourging as many other people as possible to buy the game too, at work, message boards, email.
If you love Galaga you have to love Ikargua!!!

I have downloaded and burned the Dreamcast version of Ikaruga 3 times, on 3 discs, just to play this game (every one of them work too, that's how much I love the game).
Then I played it for about 10 hours, and went out and bought the import version because I love it this much (although, I overpaid those people on JNL in NY Chinatown, never shop there unless you are prepared to pay $5 to $10 more than ANYWHERE else). I can take pictures of it to prove it :) Seriously, I love this game and can't get enough of it, if I get this package, I would give my left nut to CheapyD as appreciation (although, I am not sure if CheapyD cares about my left nut).

I dont own Ikaruga, but I play it at the arcade all the time. I can get through the game without losing a life now and I would love to try some of the extra options on the console version to give me an extra challenge. This is one of the best shooters ever created and one of the best games I have ever played in my life. I made a giant Ikaruga poster for my room. I think the best moment is when I was in chinatown, playing the game and some asian guy was like "wow your good." Coming from the guys that can beat pretty much anything in the arcade, blindfolded was a great compliment. I would really enjoy the Sake set, not only for show, but for use. I also would love to play the console version so I can get my high score onto that internet ranking system and check my scores against others. I could replace my old crappy, blurry B&W poster with the prize one. Maybe its my ADD, but this just seems like the one game in my life that I can truely master. Besides, I must have spent well over $100 on it in the arcades by now, and I still cant get enough. Cheapy, Thanks so much for this opportunity.

I'm so hardcore I played it and beat it before everyone else did on DC (and not any burned copy neither). I tried to get my friends to play it with me, but they'd all suck. So I resorted to playing 2-player games with both hands. No, I'm not any good like that Japanese girl, but I can still kick some serious ass. With some sake in me I'll be able to switch black to white faster than Michael Jackson.
In short, I love Ikaruga! And I deserve to win dangnabbit!

I have never win anything in my life. I am what you might call a perpetual loser. I am still a virgin at 22; nope never got laid. I have never even had a girlfriend. Winning this could change things for me you know. It could help me shed this image I have of myself and things can pick up you know. I have never won anything, it's just so sad.

My name is Sergio Gonzalez, and I've heard great reviews about Ikaruga. I was actually planning to buy it, but since I might win it here, I bought other games. I surely deserve at least the game itself, since it looks great and I love shooters

I deserve this game because I am avid fan of this genre, I have always loved these kinds of games and I also collect rare and hard to find games so this whole set would just be adding to my collection, also 5-10% of the video gaming population will enjoy this game, its a very hard game and most people will give up on it rather quickly, I will play this game for years to come because I heard nothing but great reviews on it, also those sake cups might also come in handy after a long day of work....
so to put it bluntly, I deserve this game because I will cherish it, I will play it for years and love it, hey, it has to be a amazing game if its the sequal to Radiant Silvegun, which i own and is amazing, and this game from what I hear is even better, so PLEEEEEEEASE choose me.
Chow and good luck to all

I deserve this because every weekend I volunteer time reading to underpriveleged children. That and I once saved Don Knotts' life. And I invented the internet. And I also just got diagnosed with hair cancer. And if I don't get it, I'll cry.
Okay, maybe not, but it just so happens that I love sake and I love Ikaruga. Is this a coincidence? Not so much.

Well, I guess I am most deserving because I bought a Gamecube here thanks to a deal that NintendoFanGirl posted here. If it wasn't for that, I might not have even bought one. I have heard alot about Ikaruga. I have played a decent number of shooters in my time (Silkworm, Alpha Mission, Galaga, Einhander, Galactic Attack, Gyruss to name a few). I know Ikaruga is made by the same people who did Radiant Silvergun and I'd like to see what makes this game so appealing.

I'm so hardcore I gave this lovely picture even MORE engrish. (at the bottom)
Well, surely no one can deny that *I* am undisputably, undeniably, and scrumdiddley-umptiously deserving of such a fine game set for...what's it called..Ikarugi. Ikari warriors? Crap, I forgot the name and I'm too lazy to open another browser window to see what it was. Anyhow....ummm.. pictures encouraged, you say? ...how's about THIS beauty:

Why am I the most deserving? Well, one time I was walking down the street and I saw this dude from Japan. Naturally my first instinct was to start throwing rocks at him but then I noticed he had some funny looking kanji on his jacket. I decided to investigate. He told me it was from a game called Ikaruga and offered to show me it at his hosue, against my better judgement I agreed. When I arrived in his shack (the term "house" seems to generous) I walked in and was amazed at all the shooting games he had. Within moments I was playing everything from classics like Raiden and 1942 to modern games like Giga Wing and Radiant Silvergun. I was playing and loving them all and had a great time despite my Japanese comanions numerous attempts to slip his hand down my pants. After exhausting the collection I saw a small box with the very symbol he had been wearing on his jacket, surely, this MUST be the Ikaruga he had mentioned. I asked to see it and he simpy chuckled, he told me only those who pass the test may play. He left the room and returned with the very sake set offered in this contest and told me I had to beat him in a shot drinking contest. I agreed and began drinking, nearly made one of the worst mistakes of my life. Soon the guy was on me like Rosie O'Donnel on a lesbian made out of ham. What he didn't count on was that I could actually hold my liquor, apparently something he couldn't do because as I stumbled up to run he mearly fell on his face. I was too disoriented to grab the game for my cube and could only stumble onto the street in terror. I still lay awake at nights remembering that day, damn I wish I had gotten to play that game.
So. for fighting off a drunken pervert I believe I'm the most deserving of the game, and as for the sake set, don't I sound like I need a few drinks?
I hope I win a copy of this game. The leprechans who live under my bed keep coming out at night and stealing my copy. I'm wise to them now though. I set a trap up, and all I need is the bait.
I'm the most deserving one because I want to have the game, for me it's hard to find it (were I live) and it would be a nice game to add to my collection

i deserve this because i love the game so much, everytime i go to fryz, the first thing i do is play this game (which has been there on display for a while). the only reason i havent bought it so far is b/c i have been waiting for this contest.

Ever since KOTOR for the XBox moved in with us, my Gamecube and I have been, well let's say, distant, and with Fable and Doom III in the wings, it doesn't look like we'll be spending much time together. We need something to spark that 'ole feeling. I miss having the wavebird in hand, mashing buttons like a madman, and Ikaruga might just be the thing we need!
Sake fan? Damn right I am! I'm so hardcore, I'll drink the stuff at room temperature. Yeah, it tastes like sweaty socks when it's not hot, but sometimes emergencies don't allow time to steep a pot of water!
Not to mention, the contest ends the night before my birthday. What a great gift idea!

-Elementary school: 1943 (NES) and Grape Soda, $5 (bought from friend) and $.75 for 12 oz can.
-Middle school: Raiden Trad (SNES) and Coke, $19.99 and $1.99 for 2 liter.
-High school: Raiden Project (PSX) and Lemon-Lime Gatorade, $29.99 and $2.19 for 16 oz bottle.
-College: Ikaruga (DC) and Beast, $39.99 and probably around $.07 a can (though case after case, the dollars do add up)
-After college: Winning a CAG prize pack that captures a lifelong passion of top-down shooters and drinking, all in one package...Priceless.
For the rich and uninformed, there's MSRP. For everyone else, there's CAG.
*EDIT* Am I a sake fan? Until you can identify every crooked table in every bar in your town/city (for Sake Bombs), can blindly taste the difference between Sapporo and Ichiban, and have had your throat operated on twice from yelling KAMPAI! you are not a sake fan. Here's to you, CheapyD. <slams hand on table, sake falls into mug, chugs beer w/ sake and catches glass in teeth>

Hmmm...so far, I have been a failure and a loser; I have never won anything in my life. This contest has given me hope. </playing the pity card>
On an unrelated note, one time, I was walking down this narrow corridor and ran into a rival gang wearing all black. Our gang wears all white, so I was in big trouble. Then I remember reading about Ikaruga and it's innovative way to avoid being shot to death by enemy bullets. So, I turned my shirt inside out so that the black was showing. Same with the pants. Then, I started running past them as they fired their bullets. Haha! I was invincible! It only required a minor emergency operation to get the bullet out my neck since I didn't have a black scarf.

Ok. Here is my entry...
I would like to win this giveaway, not for myself, but for my fiance. I've have tried really hard to expose her to the wonderful world of gaming. Yet, everytime I bring home a "sure thing" it falls flat on its face. I think it's time for a change in strategy, and Ikaruga is the perfect game to start with. It's multiplayer, which she will like because we can "share" the experience. It's fast paced, which she "should" enjoy because she mashes those buttons like a heroin junky slappin a vein. And it's the GameCube version, which we will both enjoy since we have two Wavebirds. (Anyone else notice how easy it is to set aside the Wavebird, roll over and love your woman for a bit, and then get right back into the action WHILE you cuddle with her afterwards?) The saki set would be an added bonus because we love to booze it up every now and then. What better way to play games then all boozed up?

Plain and simple, no one can deny this -
I am the most deserving of this fabulous prize package for this simple reason. Later this year, In OCTOBER...I'm getting married.
(bye bye videogames)
That being said I will need to be doing a lot of drinking.....
( here's where the sake set will prove useful )
to get through my married years and when I am told to go sleep on the couch..having a CUBE version of IKARUGA there to open its arms and invite me to play.......MINT.
WINNER !!!

The reason why I deserve this game is because it's based off of my adventure. By winning and thus playing the game I could compare how good of a job they did on my adventure and to see if they did it justice. That is why I should win.

Well I can get through all of Ikaruga without losing *ONE* life. Not only that but i once spent 24 hrs straight on it (well okay, it was 18hrs and I took a luinch and dinner brake somewhere inbetween). Not only that, but I'm an alchoholic, and a sake set is just what I need.

I really, really deserve this game. Here's my story of woe. So I had saved up my lunch money for a little over 7 months just to buy what I knew would be the ultimate gaming experience. Since I didn't want to disturb my poor mother, I decided to walk the 27 miles to the game store with my 53$ in my hand. Well when I was 3 blocks from the store I smelled fire. Checking to see what the disturbance was, I discovered that the local orphanage was on fire! Well I knew what I had to do! Wrapping a wet towel around my face, I ran into the burning building. The children were all running around screaming and I scooped up 4 at a time carrying them out of the building. One particular child, Guadaloupe, had excessive smoke inhalation. Well I knew that I had to save this poor kid, so I ran the 1.3 miles to the nearest hospital clutching him close. Exhausted, I arrived at the hospital and insisted that Guadaloupe be taken to the emergency room. Well because Guadaloupe did not have his insurace card on him I was forced to use my 53$ to grease the palm of an orderly. Needless to say, I was able to save Guadaloupe's life, but unable to purchase Ikaruga. To this day I have not been able to save up enough money for the game, but this is the perfect opportunity to finally be the happiest boy in the world. So don't just give me the game because of this sad story, do it for Guadaloupe!

I am a hardcore of the series and own every single one of them out there. Nope, I dont sell them for profit like others, I own them cause I want them!!! As a hardcore fan, Ikaruga is already in my collection and played to death. 2 reason I want to win:
1. I'm afraid by playing too much of my copy, my GC and my game might break down. I will be nice to have a 2nd copy, though I dont mind buying again.
2. I want the teaset!!!
so, these is why I deserve to be the winner.

As part of a court order, I am forbidden to have any alcohol. I can't even find a store that will sell it to me.
So pathetically, I have to rely on contests to win my precious nectar.
I'd even take someone soaking an envelope in the sake, cutting it into small confetti, and allowing them to take pictures while I snort the alcohol pieces.

What old school gamer could not love the idea of a Atari/Treasure game running on a Nintendo system? Anyone with a true sense of good taste would be thrilled to own a copy. I would have a copy right now but I've searched high and low for Ikaruga to no avail. I NEED Ikaruga. Kneecaps beware!

I believe that I am most deserving of this because I love the game, but I just don't have enough cash to pay full price for it. I've once went on a three hour marathon (my longest gaming marathon ever) at my cousin's house with this game.
I've also missed out on all sales of this title, so the only option has been full price, and even once I came up with the cash, all stores in my area were sold out.
This set would definately be the ultimate Ikaruga package for someone such as myself.

So I've got to tell you why me, Joshua Clarke, is most deserving? Well, it's me, Joshua! That's all you need to know...
Need more eh? Ok, well I've been a gamer since I was 5 years old. Now, I'm 21, so 16 plus years of experience. I'm as old-school as they come, and I've never had the opportunity to play the old-school shooting goodness that is Ikaruga. Plus, I really like Sake. So, taking shots of Sake while I die over and over at Ikaruga sounds like a way to make my day. Don't you agree?

blackinches deserves this because, blackinches was playing this awesome hard ass game by importing it for dreamcast. and would love nothing more than being able to play it on blackinches' gamecube. blackinches has been a big fan of treasure ever since radiant silvergun, and wishes there were more old school shooters.

I'm most deserving because I havn't played ikuragua yet, and I really do like sake and i mean really, because it's the only alcoholic beverage that I consume on a weekly basis, also like to eat sushi with sake. If i had the sake set i could consume my sake in a stylish fassion and play ikuragua, i might iven like it because i just like japanese stuff, but even more if had quite a bit of sake. in the end i would really like the sake set, even more than other stuff, but i'm to cheapass to buy it myself, so just let me have the sake set and let me enjoy my sake even more. Maybe i'll be drinking more often with that. I JUST LOVE SAKE

I need this prized set to complete my soul.
You see, there is a vacant spot on my quaint mantle at home. To the left sits proudly my Billy Idol memorabilia, to the right, every single piece of merchandise I could scrape together to form my tribute to the long-cancelled 80s show, "Small Wonder "(the one with the girl robot).
Laugh or giggle or smirk as you may, but the middle spot has been waiting, waiting and hungry for that perfect set to fill that empty spot, and I feel that Ikaruga is IT. I have never had as assuring feeling as I do now. As sure as Barry Bonds is that he has another HOME RUN the moment the ball cracks off the bat, I am sure that this Ikaruga set and my "mantle of love" were meant to be together. Won't you complete my trio of tributes? Won't you grant a man his dream? Won't you realize that "Small Wonder" never got the airtime it deserved?
http://members.a1above.net/smallwonder@surfbest.net/Photos/smallwondercouch.jpg
You won't find a better home for that illustrious set than mine, I can assure you that. I will gaze upon it and sing its riches daily to my friends and family and other passer-bys. You have a rare chance to give that Ikaruga set the honor that it truly deserves. The crowning choice is in your hands. I just hope I appealed to your hearts.
I would like to thank the judges for their ears. I thank the makers of Ikaruga for such a terrific game and generous prize package. I thank Billy Idol for the solid, if slightly inebriated, years of entertainment. But above all, I thank the people who brought "Small Wonder" into my life. Those short but tender years in the late 80s...hopefully I can recapture that taste of glory with the Ikagura set. Thank you all.

i already have the game on both the dc and the gc. i will pass this copy off to my 11 year old nephew who is learning that there is gaming life beyond the "big" titles. his love of shikigami no shiro surpasses that of the average american 11 year old's.
as for me. well, hell i may be the only person who both thoroughly deserves and will make great use of the sake set. i have provided photographic evidence in support of this claim.
so where's my motha grabbin prize yo?!
[edit] okay so the photos didnt work. ill trya again later. maybe ill make one of them my avatar.
[edit] you can see my photographic evidence in the show yourself gallery. i've got a $20 dollar haircut. it's really an 8 dollar with a 12 dollar tip. i try to spread the extra cash around. don't want the gubment gettin it. my barber thanks you CAG!

I feel I need this because I am a crazy fan for games with a challenge. My gamecube sure hasn't been touched in awhile, my wall lacks a poster, and I sure could use a sake set :).
Holy jumping @!#% (as George Carlin would say) I hope you're joking, Requiem. You just gave me the willies, dude. My skin crept so much it shinnied right off my arm and down a storm pipe into the comforting darkness of the sewers.

I started playing Ikaruga with the dreamcast import. Then it came out on gamecube. I tried to preach to my buddy Swanson how awesome Ikaruga is. I tried to show him how to get it cheap. He laughed and gave one of those no commitment answers, like "when I get to it," or "I might be there." I still kept pushing, I wanted someone to get decent to play through the game with me. I invited him over to play, he started to get into it, until he realized you could bump each other. After that he would only play to try to bump me into the wrong color bullet. This of course was annoying, but at least he was playing Ikaruga. I still don't have someone to play it through with me. But if I win this I am giving the copy to Swanson. Maybe, just maybe he will play through it and actually learn to appreciate this awesome shmup and want to give it a true try. But probably he will just lure people into playing so he can bump their ships. At least more people will be playing Ikaruga.

I must admit that I may not be the most deserving person for this game, for that title is reserved for Mr. Michael Jackson himself. "Hey, I'm black! But what's this!? Now I'm white!" This being said, I think that I'm definately the SECOND most deserving person to win this contest. Why you ask?
Because just like my idol Machoman Randy Savage, I am full of beef and spice. When the madness is just too much for me to handle, I must drop the elbow on evil flying robots. This is where Ikaruga comes in. Not only do I have the determination to actually see this game through until the end, I also have the fortitude and admiration to proudly display the other pieces of the grand prize. The poster, how it will look glamorous adorning my wall. The sake set? Proudly displayed on top of my television. While sailing through the skies, changing colors to manhandle my enemies, i will display my gratitude by yelling one thing. OH YEAH!

You should pick me, because I just got an Xbox. What does that have anything to do with a gamecube game? It has much to do with GameCube... I have been searching for a copy of Ikaruga for quite some time now, and it would be just the thing that would get me back into playing my 'Cube. My friends, online and off are all pissed off with me because I preach so much about why/how the Xbox is the best system out. Please, for the sake of all mankind, help stop my fanboyish preaching by getting me the Ikaruga game... Oh yeah, and I have the Saturn import of Radiant Silvergun. All I really play nowadays is RS and Xbox... please help a poor soul like mine :(

When I first heard the spiritual successor to Radiant Silvergun was coming - I knew I had to be there. Treasure, a mucho-loved fan developer, was releasing Ikaruga on the SEGA Dreamcast! I couldn't wait!
Before the release, I whipped out Radiant Silvergun for the Saturn and played a bit to get back in to the shooter style of play - and placed a preorder at NCSX for Ikaruga! Finally, the day came. I invited a friend over and we had an absolute blast playing this top-class shooter.
I've been wanting to pick up the GAmecube version for a long time, and bonus material is so awesome, the poster would look so rad on my wall beside other greats like Metroid Prime!

I'm so hard core that when I get the set, I will trade the Poster & Gamecube game for a Dreamcast version. Then I will play it the way it's suposed to be played. I'll even go the extra mile and turn my TV on the it's side so I can play like in the arcade.

I am probably the least desverving because I have heard of this game and have heard how good this game is, but haven't even looked into it :(. I have never even played it but it sounds really good, I also love shooters ;), but others deserve it more than I do.

i dont deserve it (dont deserve anything) but if you find it in your heart, here is why i should.
i am an ultra fan of shooters. i own evrey r-type except 3, i downloaded mame and over 200 arcade shooters. i actually own the original arcde cabinet for r-type. i beat einhander. i almost beat r-type delta. asteroids is one of the best games ever. shooters > than all other genres r-type final is the messiah (i like r-type a lot), but r-type leo is the best arcade one. (most people probably dont ven know hers a leo)
in all, i love shooters, but i dont own this game. and i can hold on to the sake until im legal

I know I don't deserve it but I know someone on here that does. Minx is the most deserving of it. Basically because she was the one to post things like the girl playing two fighters and getting the insane chain combo. She has done a lot for the community here and feel she is probably the most worthy to recieve the game.
Either her or NFG. the only reason I put minx ahead of NFG is that Minx had those two guys gyrating their stuff and that still makes me laugh!
Support the people who do Nintendo right by giving us good deals and making us laugh!!!!!

I met up with a friend nightly for a few weeks to practice 2-man Ikaruga on Normal mode in an attempt to beat it with 3 continues. Unfortunately we were unsuccesful as after reaching level 4 my friend would die very often which eventually led to some yelling as I astutely pointed out that he wasn't sharing the continues and was just wasting them. Some fighting ensued and now I play Ikaruga by myself. My friend and I haven't really hung out anymore after this incident.
I'm most deserving for this prize package because I gave up a friendship to be able to play Ikaruga without having to deal with a communist continue stealer.

This is my story. There may be others like it, but this one is mine. It is one filled with action, adventure, and tragedy, but unfortunately no triumph.
It starts off ordinarily enough. Like many of you, I ordered Ikaruga from BestBuy.com only to get screwed.
I then went to every store in town just to find it. During that "road trip," my car broke down and I was forced to walk in the rain, up and down mountains, and through dangerously muddy terrain - all to become the proud owner of Ikaruga.
I didn't succeed.
After that, I sold my house and hitchhiked across the country. On my journey, I ran through burning buildings, leapt across rooftops, and got the girl. Yes, I got the girl, but I didn't get Ikaruga. :(
Finally, after many days and many miles, I saw it - one last shiny copy of Ikaruga. All I had left was $40 and change - just enough to get the game. It was finally going to be mine.
Then I was mugged.
My money was gone, my hopes and dreams were gone, my chances of getting Ikaruga were gone.
Now I have no money, no car, no house, and no girl (she dumped me after I was mugged - I guess she was using me for the money...or Ikaruga).
Winning this contest is my last hope.

I love Ikaruga. I used to play it every night with my boyfriend for the time we had it. We had a massive amount of hours clocked on that thing. It was crazy.
Then our friend made us give the game back. :(
I went insane and tried looking everywhere for a copy, to no avail. Best Buy? No. GameStop? No. EB? THey just laughed in our faces. It's apparently pretty rare around here.
I had a few ideas, but then my lovely signifigant other assured me that killing the friend, and pillaging the wonderful glowing-game-of-absolute-awesome-and-funnness wasn't an option. I felt like crying. Never again would this poor gal be able to see and destroy the glorious black and white enemy ships, let alone do so alongside her companion.
I tried asking again, but the answer was still "no". "Are you sure?" "yes." "I know of a good place to hide the body, noone will ever know!" "NO." "Awwwwwwww. :("
I still have nightmares of playing, then large demon hands yanking the game away from me. Help me. I must play again.
In conclusion:

I want the prize pack so anyone in my room will know I like Ikaruga. I bought it a month ago ,and it sure is a fun game. If I win you can give the game I won to someone else since I already own a copy. Also if I win I'll buy some sake ,and wait til I'm 21 to drink it. Then on my birthday I can get super toasted, and pee on the neighbors flowers. Then I would make out with these girls. http://www.drunk-girl.biz/pics/past_vip_002.jpg

I thought of the sake set and poster that would come with it. They'd look key in my room. So I decided to enter, so that I may have a chance to experience the awe and wonder that is Ikaruga!

i DESERVE this game for all the trouble i went through to get it the first time...heres the story(and yes it IS true)
It was a fine day here in central wisconsin while i was hitchin' a ride over to my local gamestore. I saw a poster for a new game that they had recieved, the game was ikaruga. I had heard about it for the dreamcast but never actuall got to play it. I was so pumped that i was gonna get the game. I reached into my pocket to grab my wallet and low-n'-behold it wasnt there...i must have left it in that old farts' truck i got a ride in....."man" i said as i thought to myself"how am i going to get this game....i NEED to have it"...........with no money in my hand and a guilty feeling soul i casually but nervously walked out the door.....with the game snuggly tucked under my belt. I knew it was a bad thing to do but I HAD to have the game......while i was UNKINDLY disturbed playing Ikaruga 2 hours later by a knock at my door, I smelt fear streaming into the air.....i looked out the window and saw.............A POLICE CAR........I just knew i was screwed right then and there. I was dragged down to the local police station, made to return the game, and pay a 900$ fine for shoplifting and a week and a half of community service.....i still havent paid off the fine and was banned from the local ga,estore.....and that is the reason i DESERVE the Ikaruga set.

I like old school games, and its always great to play games that are old school but use today's technology. I really want to play this game, because the last shooter I played was Raptor for the PC (yes that is very old). I am to big of a cheapass to pay 40 bucks for this game, so I am going to win it and conquer it.

My name is Adam. There are two parts to my story, the first being I'm an alcoholic. No joke. I've been to so many AA meetings I can't remember what happened at my first. I'm also only 19. Stunning, I'm sure. Being that I drink so much, I flunked out of college. I'm currently living with my parents. And my God it's awful. They won't let me have any goddamn booze. I can't find work so I have ZERO funds. And my friends won't get me booze because they know how much of an alcoholic I am. About the only thing I've been able to do to get away from the crippling pain is play the Gamecube my parents bought me for Christmas. But through very, very extreme means (means i never care to relive) I have managed to obtain a bottle of cheap sake. Now I know, sounds like my problem is temporarily solved...but it's not that simple. That's where the next part of my story comes in. I have obsessive compulsive disorder. And that's why my problem isn't solved. I CANNOT just drink this sake. I HAVE to drink it out of sake glasses. I just can't drink it out of anything else. You have to understand this. That's why I MUST win this prize. Please, please, if you don't want to see a man waste away from lack of alcohol, you will help me. Then after I drink the sake and temporarily keep my pain at bay, I will have another game to pass the agonizing time. Please.

I'm most deserving of this game because I'm a poor college student that can't afford to buy the game normally. Not only that, but my major (Graphic Design/Digital Media) requires me to spend almost all of my extra money on stupid supplies/programs for school, so I have to be a Cheap-Ass Gamer to get anything new.
I've played the game for Dreamcast, but my disc (I downloaded it) doesn't always work. I would really like to have a true version of the game instead of a bootleg, since I think bootleging games is a horrible thing to do. But, due to my financial situation (as stated above), I can't get the game. I'd settle for just the game itself. I don't even need a sake set and the other stuff.

I'm so hardcore that I once killed a guy because he bad-mouthed Ikaruga.
The dude was all like, "You know what?!"
And I was all like, "What?"
And he said, "Ikaruga sucks--and so does CheapAssGamer.com..."
And I was all like, "NO YOU DIDIN'! Its one thing to insult my mother, its another to insult my personal body odor--but to insult Ikaruga AND CheapAssGamer.com--in the same sentence--thats blasphemy!"
To which he retorted, "Whatcha gonna do about it?!"
My non-chalant reparte, was of course, ripping off his limbs, one by one, beating him unconcious with them, and eating his liver. I also managed to slaughter his ENTIRE family--even distant cousins, and used their blood to paint my shack in the woods, from where I plot to destroy modern capitalist society. Except of couse for videogames, especially Ikaruga, and websites such as CheapAssGamer.com. Thats the good kind of capitalism. Thats the kind of capitalism that lets me play fun and exciting, and reasonably priced, videogames in my red shack.
I drew a picture to help describe the scene:

I think I'm more deserving of this game because I've always been a Nintendo fan since I was knee-high to a jackrabbit. I really haven't had much experience in shooters like these, but I definitely want to give Ikaruga a shot, and since the times I've had a chance to get it and other titles have come out, I figured this'd be the best way to have the title right now. The game's received much praise and I'd really like to see what the fuss is all about.

I am the biggest Ikaruga fan because it is the closest thing to being a Radiant Silvergun fanatic without having to spend $250 on Ebay for the game, not to mention having to buy a Saturn converter and having the Saturn hooked up to the TV.
Honestly, I always enjoyed Treasure video games (from the Genesis Gunstar Heroes to even the Treasure team produced Konami classics).
When I first heard about Ikaruga, I knew I had to import it for the DC and I had a blast playing it. It was my most expensive game ever, at $60, and it is worth it for a game to kick my ass every session.
I had played the predacessor, Radiant Silvergun, in Otakon last year and I was impressed by it's dificulity and my lack of gaming skills.
I actually have a GC and I to test my Ikaruga skills with warm Sake.
Please, please, pleeeeeaaaaaassssssseeeeeeee.......... Pretty please. No, really.... please, please, please, pleas,e plea,se, pl e a se ....... Give it to me..... NOW !!!!!!

I can't put my love for Ikaruga in words so I will do it another way.
*cues the song "just the two us" - Will smith *
(Just the two of us, yeah)
Just the two of us (Just the two of us)
Just the two of us (Just the two of us)
From the first time the I held the controller in my arms
I knew I'd meet death before I'd let you meet harm
A CAG shouldn't speak aloud bout his feelings
My love and my pain don't make me too appealing
I take the disc, and grasp its glory
Put it in my Gamecube and wait for the fun.... ory
As I switch from light to dark, I feel my heart melt
Cause I knew I loved you more than life itself
Then to my knees, I begged the Lord please
Let me be a winner, that's all I needs
Dodge right, Dodge left, Red Button, Blue
Ikaruga, I pledge my life to you
http://www.geocities.com/dharmeshpatel304/profiles_patel.jpg
(Look how happy this game makes me)
Just the two of us, we can make it if we try
Just the two of us, (Just the two of us)
Just the two of us, building castles in the sky
Just the two of us, you and I.....(karuga)
Did I just sing to a game?... *hangs self*
--Special Thanks to Will Smith--[/img]
I deserve this because I don't think there's anyone else in the history of CAG that's missed out on the $9.99 EB Rygar deal more times than I have. I need some hard Japanese sake to ease my pain and what better to drink it from than an Ikaruga sake set :)

Getting this game will definitely ensure that I will not get some nookie with my wife! But it will surely be worth it, because we will be able to spend quality time together playing all night long, just like we do with Mario Kart right now.
So to sum it up, Ikaruga will help keep my marriage from falling apart.

If I were a hardcore Ikaruga fan, then I wouldn't be entering a contest to win a copy of the game....I'm doing it because I'm a Cheap Ass!
Save the sake set for the real winner, just give this Cheap Ass Gamer second prize.
(In other words, I should win for being so altruistic. :))

I deserve this game because I'm such a huge fan I tattooed a matching set of Ikaruga symbols on both of my nipples.
This left one is the white side, the negative hurt a lot more because they used a lot more black ink.

I think I deserve this prize the most because it would benefit my entire family. I have been wanting to play this game for months, but I have never been able to find a copy in stores - not even for full price! I would get maximum enjoyment out of the game, especially if I knew I had won it and not bought it. The poster would be framed and made the first wall decoration for my room. The sake set would look great in my mother's china cabinet, and if it comes with sake, it could calm down those fishies that have been swimming in my father's stomach for the past five years (since his last business trip to Japan). As for the promotional box, provided it's big enough, I might be able to fit my little sister in it and ship her off to some far-away place[/dream].

Ikaruga was my third Gamecube game, but damn, was it more fun than Wind Waker. I played this game for over 50 hours, and that's not including how much I played the Dreamcast version. I love this game to death and play cooperative a lot too. It's too much damn fun, and replaced Warcraft 3 for my addicting game fix for a while
Edit: and I would gladly hang that Ikaruga poster up on my wall, which I only deemed the Ninja Gaiden wallscroll so far worthy. Also, that sake kit will be very nice for my friends and I too. I think I am too fanatical over this game and any related stuff...I even have the soundtrack in mp3 format on my computer!
Also, I traded in this game by accident and have been leeching off my suitemate's copy until I can get myself hands on a new one, but unfortunately I'm a cheapass. :(

Well, I couldn't do any worse at this game even if I was drunk on sake, so it wouldn't hurt to give it to me. Seriously, that is a great prize set, whomever wins will be well rewarded. I got in on the Best Buy $19.99 deal and "loaned" my copy to a friend, with the understanding that he didn't need to return it until he'd beaten the game. Needless to say, I don't expect to ever see it back.

What can I say? I'm a cheap ass gamer. I haven't bought this game yet. However, the fine folks at Game Crazy in Clementon, NJ have done a tremendous job at getting me absolutely hooked on this game. During the cross promotions between said company and ours "a national Pizza chain.. no plugola here" We played Ikaruga for about 2 hours straight taking turns. This game is just pure gold. The nice scaling and rotation of the backgrounds as the heroes are flying around, but yet, still keeping the 2 dimensional favorite games such as Raiden and "hmm was that SNK shooter Flying Heroes or something like that?" Then theres the shield issue, as everyones screaming at me and other players, GO BLACK! NO WHITE! NO WHITE! BLACK,WHITE, etc. GO.. I DONT KNOW! Quite possibly one of the first shooters to give me a headache playing that night, but thats ok. Its just a furious flurry of white and black bullets and I like it.
Cheers! :)

I've always wanted to play this game, and never been able to find. I'm also an aspiring alcoholic, so those shot glasses will come in handy. Ikaruga looks to be an awesome drinking game. With a shot of whiskey everytime my ship gets blown up, I'll be in the hospital in no time!

I think I deserve this package the most because I am quite a big fan of TREASURE's work. This is one of the games responsible for sparking my interest in the development team as well as the shooter genre itself.
Why I really would like this package is because I am a rabid collector of game merchandise. There's never too much merchandise, and unfortunately, there seems to be a lack for this kind of stuff these days, at least in the US. So, I would love to get my hands on this package, especially since it is branded by such a fantastic franchise. Coincidentally, I also favor sake over other alcoholic beverages, so that sake set looks very inviting.

Everything you are about to here is true and this is why I am the most deserving Ikaruga fan. Once again let me repeat this is true! I kid you not. I've played Ikaruga to death. I know the game backward and foward. I played the game so much that I actually ended up in the hospital. I was hospitalized for lack of sleep, damaged corneas, a damaged hand and malnutrition. I had to have surgery on my hand to have my thumb repositioned. Also my fingers became so curled that they had to be repositioned. My eyes had also become damaged because of the constant playing. I needed to have laser surgery to fix them. I also did not sleep or eat while playing the game was malnutritioned and deprived of rest. I was in the hospital for TWO WEEKS!!!!!! I even have the scars on my hand still and my right hand is a little limp and will never be properly positioned again. That's not the end of it all. I loved the game so much that I got a tatoo of the kanjis for Ikaruga on my arm. But the tatoo covered up the tatoo I had for my wife which said her name. When I refused to remove the Ikaruga tatoo she DEVORCED ME!!!! Thats right I am DEVORCE BECAUSE OF IT!!!!! So please I don't think their is a bigger fan than me. Everything I told you was true. So please let me win so I have something to show for all of this. There is no bigger fan than me.

Do I deserver it? Probably not. There's people far more dedicated then I, I mean all I did was manage a 27 million score, play through normal without dying, perfect bullet eater run, and stayed up late on the last night of the Ikaruga contest trying to beat this French guy who was ahead of me (I'm too much of a Yankee to let that one go). Then I was all sitting on the last bosses head eating his first wave of white shots and saying how I AM THE FUNKY CHICKEN OF THE SKIES! But before that, Ikaruga has sedimental value to me. *wavey flashback lines*
2001, fall, My brother was raving about some new game from Treasure. The unofficial sequel to Radiant Silvergun. Well, I love treasure (and I love my DC. 62 games is a nice collection), so it had my attention. Shmups had always been my older brothers kind of games, but this one somehow made me fall in love with the whole genre and the first one where I was better then him. I played that game for hours each day, then in 4 months I decided to give it a rest, no arcade near me will ever get it so no one will ever understand how good I was. Then the GC version was announced with an online ranking (talk about being kicked in the balls). I remember getting the GC version and finding out that I suck. Well boo. So I continued to practice, and I got better. Better then I ever was. I remember my friends getting this game and the looks on their faces when they saw me play. I remember giving a speech in school about how to play this game. This game became a part of who I was, then the ranking shut down, so now I make stupid videos of monochroming various levels.
I like the idea of a free sake set, free stuff is the best kind of stuff. And a backup copy of the game would be cool. Also, I always wanted one of those promotional pieces, I love huge novelty boxes.

"So there's me an' Ikaruga, and we're all inseparable, right? Just big time in love. And then about four months in, I ask about the prequel. You know, Radiant Silvergun. Dumb move, I know, but you know how it is - you don't really want to know, but you just have to...stupid video game bullshit. Anyway she starts telling me all about him - how they played for years, lived together, her gaming system likes me better, blah, blah, blah - and I'm okay. But then she tells me that a couple times, he brought other games...you know...like Bangai-O...to bed with them - ménage a tois, I believe it's called. Now this just blows my mind. I mean, I'm not used to that sort of thing, right? I was raised on Nintendo. So I get weirded out, and just start jamming on her A button, right? This is the only way I can deal with it - by calling her a rental, and telling her that she was used - I mean, I'm out for blood I want to hurt her - because I don't know how to deal with what I'm feeling. And I'm like "What the fuck is wrong with you?" and she's telling me that it was that time, in that place, and she didn't do anything wrong, so she's not gonna apologize. So I tell her it's over, and I walk.
No, idiot. It was a mistake. I wasn't disgusted with her, I was afraid. At that moment, I felt small - like I'd lacked experience, like I'd never be on her level or never be enough for her or something. And what I didn't get was that she didn't care. She wasn't looking for that game anymore. She was looking for me, for the Banky. But by the time I realized this, it was too late, you know. I had to return her, and all I had to show for it was some foolish callouses, which then gave way to regret. She was the game, I know that now. But I pushed her away...
So I've spent every day since then chasing Ikaruga...
So to speak."

Definitely would like to win this set. I would give it to my brother who has a Gamecube. Fond memmories of playing Air busters on the Sega Genesis. I think I still have that game along with Thunder Force 2 and 3, R-Type (sega master system), MUSHA, Target Earth. Man I missed the good ole days of the shooters.
I think I am the most hardcore fan because i actually bought a sega saturn and had it modified just so i could play radient silvergun, and yes i bought it for $150, so basically i shelled out around $300 just so i could play an earlier version of this game.

I will turn my TV sideways; down cups of hot Sake, before each round; stop calling my local EB Games, GameCrazy, and GameStop to ask if they have it available for $20; find out what those Chinese characters on the cover actually mean; play it in co-op with my brother; try to finish it by myself; and then file it between Hunter: the Reckoning and The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition. I think the promo display and sake set are the real gems in this contest. My previous experience only includes the NES versions of Life Force and 1942; and misc. arcade games. I have done lots of online review research, and Ikaruga is currently one of my must-haves. I initially registered on this site just to enter the Ikaruga contest, but have found it to be a very good source of locating great prices on new games. I will continue to use this extrememly useful forum for locating the lowest price on GameCube games. For example: I learned today LOTR:ROTK is now down $10 more to $30 at BestBuy! Wow! Tracking games like stock is actually pretty fun! I Love it!

I'm a huge Ikaruga fan because I bought the imported Dreamcast version (how could I possibly pass up the successor to Radiant Silvergun) and beat the game on the hardest difficulty level. It took at least 8 hours of straight playing with one of my friends over, but it was worth it. And of course, I was a fan of Radiant Silvergun as well. I bought a Saturn, modded it, and bought the import copy of R and played the hell out of that one too. Will I open the Cube version, should I win? I don't know, but I will keep it some place far away from anyone who hasn't the proper respect for the Ikaruga and Radiant Silvergun legacy.
Apart from my Ikaruga fandom, I'm a hardcore collector of games. I've got tons of rare, very hard to find titles, and have quite a few OOP, sealed games including Suikoden II and Super Metroid (which I'm not going to let go.) As a collector, while Ikaruga isn't extremely rare, the GC version makes a valuable addition to my collection.
I need to upgrade to the Cube version to continue my streak of Ikaruga madness. What an awesome game.

What describes devotion? Is it the fact that ive played this game countless hours, waited my 2 weeks to ship it from japan the first day it came out overpriced? No, Devotion is when you worship something as holy as this. devotion is just, but are ones to say we are devoted? No, we are not, and in this, we shall overcome not only ourselves, but our sense of morality. And in this, my feeble attempt to win this holy package, I say that i AM devoted...

So I'm a newbie to Ikaruga, but not to space shooters. I would spend nights staying up playing them on my Snes and Nes.
One night, I was supposed to study for this big math test in school the next day. Of course, i decided to play my video games. I stayed up late, so late infact that i didn't get any sleep, for the first time in my life. So I go to school the next day, trying to stay as far away from my mom this morning so she couldn't see my tired look.
I had math 7th hour, so i had to stay a wake the whole day. SO the math test comes, and it is all about sums and Sigma. Well the Sigma sign looks like the ship in my nes games, so i got bored (i didn't know the information again) so i drew a mock screen on back of the test. I went back and did work on the test, barly squeeking away with a C, but alas this wasn't the last test i would take, or the last time i would have alll nighters. So i failed the class.
Whatever, it was well worth it. I still hold the records in my house.

Well, it's very unlikely that I'm most deserving but I'll give this a shot.
I've never played Ikaruga, or Raidant Silvergun. I've only seen Ikaruga in motion once, at Gamestop (the clerks were whoring it, meanies).
However, I've also heard that it's one of the most impossible games ever. Quite frankly, I'm up to the challenge. I'm constantly trying to better myself and whenever tells me that I can't, I'm the type of person that says "Oh yeah?" and usually make an idiot of myself, but oh well :p
Just today, I moved up to 4 on Tempest at the arcade downtown (thank God for Rascal House and old school) and I'm gonna keep trying until I get to 1. It's a long way there, but hey, I got awhile.
I really wanna play this game, if nothing else, just to prove that I can. I love hard games and Ikaruga sounds right for me!

Ikaruga is a game that all of my friends associate with me. I'm evangelical about Ikaruga's greatness. I pre-ordered the dreamcast version from ncsx, bought the domestic gamecube release on it's release date, and also bought the Ikaruga Appreciate DVD. All in all, I've spent over $150 on this game. I don't mind in the least, as it is my favorite game of all time.
I can get to chapter 5 on one credit. My high score is 7.2 million (which is impressive or pathetic depending on your perspective, since the best players get 36 million). I've put roughly 80 hours into the game.
If I were to win, the gamecube game itself could be distributed to a second-prize winner, as I have no need of another copy of the game. I just really want the sake set and poster!

I'm most deserving of this prize package because I'm a big cheap ass gamer. I buy used games, use coupons, and Greatest Hits games to save money on games. I browse Cheapassgamer.com almost daily to look for good deals on games. I like to drink sake and the sake sets come in handy while playing Ikaruga.

Well I once open mouth kissed a horse, everyone tells me that's pretty hardcore, usually right before they stop being my friend. Doesn't really relate to Ikaruga but if I did win I would finally be able to get that coveted <checks notes> ...second game for my GC.

I deserve this game for a few different reasons.
1. I am a game programmer and in my final project for college my 4 friends and I worked on a 3d side-scrolling/top-scrolling shooter. We love to see old school games brought onto the new generation of consoles.
2. I havn't seen this game before and would like to try it out.
3. I support any 3rd party developers that release for Gamecube which in my opinion is the best console (NINTENDO forever!)
4. This is my first post ever on this site even though I've used it alot. A true example of cheap assidness I only talk when I can get something for free.

I don't know if I am one of the most deserving of not, but I'd like to share this quick story with you. My wife tolerates my gaming hobby, to a great extent. But one day when I came home with a new tv set solely to play one game, she started to pull the leash on me. What I had done was buy a cheap-o tv from Wal-Mart to set the tv on its side so that I could play Ikaruga in its fullest of glories. I knew that the tv would slowly ruin itself away by having it on its side, but throwing caution to the wind....Ikaruga is worth it, and to be frank, the tv wasn't that expensive....but a cost nonetheless. I don't know if I am the most deserving, but I could really use the prize as it would help to soften the blow. We both love Japanese food and sake, and she would come to realize the extra tv was worthwhile.

Hiya,
Enter the world of shooting. Projectile-based gaming. A very entertaining genre. Yes. I must admit, I had always liked shooting things.
So I was playing Ms. Pac-Man one day and I turned and saw a gentleman playing Time Crisis 2 and I thought "An interesting pedal/shoot concept, but it costs a dollar to play". As the naive superfly I was, I decided to give it a go. It was a wonderful experience, though quite unfortunate. As a top agent for the VSSE, your family does not receive life insurance if you are killed in action by a barrel. Discouraged, I set off to find another shooting game.
Suddenly, I heard screams of pain and anguish -- I spun around (no less than 1080 degrees, coincidentally the temperature of the heat I tend to pack), and a sight to behold was before me -- a boy no older than 5 was standing naked from the waist down, with a frantic mother screaming at her 13 year old son who had a fascination with 'water pumping'. It did not take me long to notice the game behind the scene; House of the Dead 2. Having received an allowance bonus for unclogging my neighbor's toilet with my face, I figured it was worth a shot. So I played. It was difficult to focus on the game while simultaneously admiring the literary genius of the dialogue that the developers clearly spent copious amounts of time on. I began to cry when I had put a human victim out of his misery, and had to explain to his wife that "There was nothing we could do". From the sexual innuendo of the frightened "Don't come!" girl, to the societal statement made through the fact that "G" was actually a white male, the game was too much for my feeble mind to process. Thus, my search continued.
Before my next trip to the arcade, I had visited a friend of mine, whom I only use for his videogames. I saw him playing a game once, that you might be familiar with. I believe it was called "Duck Hunt", from what the cartridge said, but from his active vocals and body motions, it seemed a more fitting name would be "Dance Dance Sweat and Clicking-BAMF!" The gameplay seemed very intuitive. Whereas in most games you actually aim from afar and try to shoot your target (similar to range shooting), this game offered the premise that your 'gun' was actually a 'lightning trigger', as was indicated by the screen flashing with every click. It would seem that the objective was to strike ducks with lightning bolts. The motivation of humiliation was astounding, as your dog companion would soundly jest with 8-bit blurbs at your sexual inadequacy. I had then made the conclusion that sexual adequacy is then inversely proportional to the distance your 'lightning gun' is from the television screen. This game hurt my feelings.
"Perhaps I should consider different methods of shooting," I thought. And I did. I began to shoot splotches of urine on my bed as a weekend hobby, but quickly decided the entertainment simply did not outweigh the olfactory aromas. I tried my hand at shooting pool, but soon lost interest and developed a hobby of fondling balls. I lost $205 trying to "shoot the moon" in the card game Hearts, my academic standing at Virginia Tech for shooting the bull with professors, a fatal addiction for shooting up, and a few years in prison for shooting Old Yeller.
Upon my heterosexual release with my virginity still intact don't tell anyone or I'll slit your throat, I made my way to the local video game store. I casually entered, and there it was, a sight beyond the gods. You see, having spent time in the cell, I had achieved the highest level of boredom possible, in between anal recuperations. My mouth only knew one taste, and it wasn't that of the splendid piece of half-chewed gum that lay before me. I began to pick. It wouldn't come off. I ran to the nearest shelf and grabbed the nearest game, hoping the CD would serve as an appropriate scraper. Apparently, they do not keep the CDs in the boxes on the shelves. My attempt to retrieve a CD from behind the counter was soon halted by a severely athletic and divine-smelling young prodigy with an affinity for looking handsome, eating his own modesty, and breeding large amounts of poo poo head. [/madlib]
My instincts drew me to my piercing wit, but I knew that I must restrain from causing serious psychological harm so soon after being released and reformed.
The 'Gamecube' I had liberated did not turn out to be a miniature oven, as I had predicted. According to television, it is in fact a 'Game Console'. However, I do not place much faith in this claim, as this is the same television that suggested the young man at the store had died of brain damage, when, in fact, I am positive that he had died from a mangling of his jugular vein.
Thus, I am entering this contest to verify my proposal that this 'Gamecube' is not a toy to be tinkered with, but a tool for personal air conditioning. The built-in fan, while miniature, has no relation with playing games. It astounds me that people would actually attempt to make games for the strangest products these days -- for calculators, cellular phones, and now this, the epitome of portable coolant/window demolition/concussion box, or the 'Gamecube', as they call it. To prove my theory (and to disprove the power-hungry game developers), I intend to conduct scientific experiments comparing the uses of the 'Gamecube' as an entertainment console, versus its uses against my head (for which I will require the sake set). Should I be chosen as the recipient of your offerings, you can expect a full report on my findings. Thank you for your time.
~Kap

Why am I the biggest fan of Ikaruga?
Because I don't own it! Seriously. My friend imported the game so long ago for the Dreamcast, and as soon as I played it, I knew that I loved it. I had never really been a fan of shmups before I tried Ikaruga. Sure, I like Gunstar Heroes, Silhouette Mirage and an assortment of other ground based action/shmups, but i never really took to the 'flying' ones.
After playing Ikaruga, however, I couldn't put it does! It was perfect! Hard, so very hard, beautiful, and, of course, breath-takingly fun!
Sadly, I could not afford it (I'm a University [Canadian] student) so I was left with nothing when leaving my friends house :D
Finally, it came out for the Gamecube, I waited and waited, but none of the stores around my area ever carried it...and they still don't to this die. I only hope to have a chance to play it, and own it!

i love ikaruga; this game is oldschol gaming bliss, and I really enjoyed playing this game both single player and with co-op partner that wasnt half bad. I bought it the first day it came out for the gc in the US (almost had to import it i wanted it to much);but, my gamecube disk got stollen out of my backpack a couple of weeks ago(Luckily my memory card was not in there with it at the time). Winning this contest would make up for me losing my original copy of the game.

i would pay $20 just for the sake set, sake is awesome and it doesnt give you a hangover due to the rice-base lacking the impurities of beer or say bicardi 151 (at least most brands won't, some sketchy labels I would watch out for) plus unlike almost all other alcoholic beverages, sake can be enjoyed either hot and cold, and combines decently with beer for sake bombing

Well, I'm so hardcore my mind has gone numb with the thought of the sake set and oversized box. I have a serious 2D shooter problem, in the area of about 50 of them so far. I have this game for the import dreamcast, and would really like to have the GC version too, but am currently too broke from buying games to pick it up. I have also started picking up store displays and other such stuff, so this would fit in very well with the rest of the stuff that is crowding my house.
Anyway, blah blah blah, send me the set please.

Hm...I'd love to lie and say I can cure cancer or develop an AIDS Vaccine but I cant....
The truth is: I am a cheapassgamer. I love free things and this game looks AWESOME. I love this contest and I just would love this collection.
Being 24 I grew up playing games like Gradius and R-Type. I have not played Ikaruga but I am a fan of shooters. I would like to see younger gamers play games that take skill. Do not get me wrong I love new games and I like to see how they have changed over generations and fads. Remember Sega CD FMV games? That is one genre that I am glad died.
I am getting way off subject; my point is that I am not a fan of Ikaruga (just because I have not played it) but a fan of shooters.

I'm borrowing this game from my friend and let me tell you, it made me want to run out and get it at Fry's for $40. But being the cheapass I am (I rarely buy new games full price), I held out for awhile. Then I saw this...
Anyways, a couple reasons I want this set. First off, I've been playing shooters since I started gaming, mostly with Gradius and R-Type. Gradius on the SNES kept me hooked and taught me the Konami code quickly (although in Gradius III it was L and R buttons instead of left and right). Also, I'm half japanese and this set would be a good thing to have for my parents or myself in college. My mom told me about the significance of the title Ikaruga, meaning both mottled dove and a classical age in Japanese history and thus being a fitting title for such a game.
Also, this game kicks tremendous ass and brings back memories of shooters from back in the day (although I still have a shooter game on my calculator).

I have an update to my post. My now estranged wife came over today to pick up some things for my house. She's moving into an apartment that I bought for ourselves in New York City. While she was over she must have snuck into the entertainment room. After she left I went to play some Ikaruga and I found the disc cut into tiny pieces and "Enjoy your game now you ASSHOLE!!!!" written on the box with a big black sharpie marker. I don't know what to do now. I have no wife, no game. I have nothing. Look at me. I'm begging you to give me this prize pack. I disgusting and disgraceful. I hate myself and what I've become. Please take pity on me. I need this pack more than ever. I've hurt my wife and I've feel terrible. But now I don't even have Ikaruga. Please I beg you give me the prize pack. I'm the biggest fan and now I have nothing. Not even Ikaruga.
Righto, well, I'm a new user. This is my first post. Wanna know why?
BECAUSE I REALLY WANT THAT IKARUGA PRIZE PACK!
All crazyness aside, I'll be completely honest with you and say I've never tried the game. But I love shooters and I've heard this is one hell of a hard game. I love a good challenge, Shinobi and Shattered Soldier took a good chunk of my life thanks to its unforgiving difficulty. So cheapy, I'm a good guy. I love animals, I clean behind my ears, brush my teeth at least twice a day, and I own that little purple box we all know and love. So, ummm...can I please have the prize?

I should win the Ikaruga sake set because of my combined love of Ikaruga and sake, which can be seen by the following story.
How I got Ikaruga.
On September 6th, 2002, I sprung up bright and early in the morning and called the nearest import/export shop to see whether Ikaruga for the DC had arrived. He told me yes, and I was off. I raced at top speed in my high performance automobile.
http://www.andrewlong.150m.com/secret/fzero.jpg
I arrived in 0.05 seconds (I sped as much as possible on the way there), but found what appeared to be the only copy in another kids hands. I walked up to him and said "Give me the game, now" but he laughed and said to make him. So I uppercut him so hard that his head exploded. Then a group of ninjas jumped out from a secret exit with weapons in hand. With amazing precision, I disarmed all of the ninjas who, by now, were crapping themselves with fear. I bitch slapped the boss ninja. He fell over and crawled out of the store and his sissy henchmen followed. I left the money for the game on the counter (the cashier ran away) and went down the street to drink to my job well done. I drank upwards of 10 gallons of sake, and bought drinks to appease the locals as well.
http://www.andrewlong.150m.com/secret/sake.jpg
I then proceded home and beat Ikaruga 15 times in under 5 minutes (I am just that good)
*please note some or all of the above story may be exaggerated or fabricated

I can say with confidence that I am the most deserving of this prize package. Each item in the pack was meant for me:
New Ikaruga game : Ok, I admit, I get the feeling sometimes that this game and I were not destined to be together. First some background information: I first received this in a used gamecube lot off of ebay. But alas, the game was so scratched up I couldn't even play it. Disheartened, but not beaten, I set off on my quest to find a cheap ass deal for Ikaruga. While I missed every single Ikaruga deal to date that has graced this site, I know that this is the deal that will change my luck (What's better than free, eh?).
Ikaruga sake set : I'll definitely need this to help me drink away my sorrows after I fail my physics midterm tomorrow -- the day this very contest ends. Coincidence?? I think not.
Large Ikaruga promotional box: How large is this box exactly? Because I need a place to stay over the summer....
Ikaruga poster : Riight, the poster...Umm...I need the poster because...my new large box would look ridiculously drab without it? Oh, come on, just gimme it....I'll tell you my deepest, darkest secret! *pinkie swears*
Well, that about wraps it up. I have to say I think that went pretty smoothly. Especially that last part...nothing like finishing up an argument strong.

Ikaruga, the shooter style is done.
It's a shame since you shine brighter than the sun.
Your difficulty is legendary, incredibly high.
But I keep throwing my controllers now I have more to buy.
People wish that you were just a bit longer.
I couldn't take any more, you hit harder than Chris Pronger.
When all is said and done the modern gamer is lazy.
The fact that you didn't sell well?
That's damn crazy.
Now that we're here lamenting the end.

EDIT: Should I win I will give all contents of this contest away with the exception of the sake set.

I've heard that this games was so great, but I couldn't find it at any of the local stores near me....so I had to resort to EBAY. I've had my GC for a couple of months now, but this is only the second game that I've ever played for GC. I really do like this game and I kept playing it over and over, but I didn't have a memory card to save my game.
And another thing. Yesterday was my birthday. "Celebrated" it with my family, but no presents of course. I even dropped a couple of not so subtle hints on CAG, but nobody seemed to notice

Sorry no pics, because I'm pretty much too stupid to know how to get them hosted somewhere. I must say, playing Ikaruga on your sideways wide screen TV is a sight to behold.
If that's not enough I even have the sound track and actually listen to it while driving. I can play through the whole game in my head just by hearing the songs.

My story begins 6 years ago, on my 25th birthday, when some of my so-called friends took me out for sushi and sake. That night, I drank more sake than any caucasian should ever be allowed. Plus sake-bombs. Plus "oh it's your birthday here's some plum wine." By the time we left, everyone including the sushi chef was plastered. Then we went to a bar, for even more beer. I still don't know how I managed not to hit anyone with a dart that night. So my friends take me home, and about 4 AM the bed is spinning at 5000 rpm. I get up, take about 6 steps towards the bathroom, and it's all over. I'll spare you the details, but this story ends with me renting a steam cleaner.
I have not been able to drink sake since then. This awesome prize pack may be the only thing in the galaxy that can help me re-acquire a taste for the stuff. That, and I lent my copy of Ikaruga to someone a year ago and I know damn well I'll never see it again.

Every single one of my friends who has a GameCube also has Ikaruga. I also enjoy going over to these friends' houses just to hang out. Sometimes we end up going somewhere, and sometimes we just end up staying and playing videogames. Of course just about every single one of my friends simply loves Ikaruga, and so do I. Unfortunately I don't have a copy, so whenever I play I completely suck, and I have to take their lame jokes. If I got a copy of Ikaruga, I would be able to practice and show those mother****ers who's boss. Then I'd be the one laughing.

I should get it because my dollies are too damn hardcore for a friggin' tea party. Mr. Buttons demands a saki bender.

The planets have aligned and foretold of my destiny to win this Ikaruga prize pack. Since most people cannot see the planets, I will tell you of another means by which I was able to predict just how much I deserve to win. So begins my story (try to stay with me).
The first time I saw this thread, I didn't have my glasses on so I thought it said Inindo. As in Way of the Ninja.

I said to myself, "Hey it would be fun to play Inindo because I like ninjas and their ways." So I start a new game. What happns next is beyond explanation. Coincidence does not exist; this is fate:

Yes, it's true. My name fit perfectly into the field. It was as if I were meant to be a ninja. In game, I started hanging with a gang of ninjas. I wish I could be Top Ninja. They tell me it takes a good 40 hours to rise through the ranks that high.

As you all should know by now, the purpose of the ninja is to flip out and kill people. So I suggest you all back out quietly now. Because I'm a ninja and ninjas cut off heads ALL the time and don't even think twice about it. (realultimatepower.net)
Alright, I suppose that isn't a real reason. My real reason is that I'm poor and I've never heard of Ikaruga before. The last game I bought was Inindo.

I have been playing Ikaruga cense it was on Dreamcast, I have this old bootleg I downloaded a while ago and it flakes out on me a lot. I have never beaten it because it will reset on me, but it so AWSOME I keep playing. I even hook up my home made Arcade stick just for that more Feel.
Plus I know that Sake is not a liquor or Wine like some people say, it is Brewed from a Grain, so technically it is a BEER, and that's why Sake Bombs are ok, cause your just mixing beer w/ beer.

I don't have any story about how my wife was killed, dog left me, and why everyone should worship me but does not because I use terms like Noob, Leet, and the ever so popular "Your Mom".
But this is why I'd like to win the prize.
I've been a huge fan of shooters (twitch kind, FPS are a lot of fun though) for years. I remember when I was a kid and my parents first allowed me to purchase a Sega Genesis system with my paper route money- I picked up Thunder Force III, Gaiares, Sagaia (part of the Darius series, but for some reason renamed to Sagaia, Target Earth, and others.
I went so far as to buy a used converted white import Saturn from a person going to Army Ranger school back about 6 or 7 years ago and purchased Thunder Force IV the special pack, The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, the sequel to Target Earth known in Japan as Assault Suit Leynos 2 and I even got my hands on Radiant Silvergun (all of the above are imports because SOA did not release them in the US- )
I'd very much like a chance to play Ikaruga and if I'm deemed worthy, I'd like to win.
Thanks!
Andy

Recently I have been watching a lot of Japanese cinema, and it's impossible not to think about how much sake the characters drink. Sake is on my mind all the time now even though I've only had it once, and I remember drinking it and at the bottom of the little glass was a picture of a naked girl to reward me for having finished my drink. Needless to say, I was pretty impressed by this experience, and I'd love to have the ability to serve my own sake to friends and family, watch my cinema in style, and then go deep with some Gamecube gaming.
I hope this set comes with naked girl pictures...

Well I believe I'm the biggest and most deserving of this prize. First off I weigh in at 522 lbs ( pretty big huh! ) and I'm an Ikaruga fan. When I'm not fishing with my son Iggy( He's a dwarf ) I spend countless hours playing video games with him. We especially like a good shooter. Due to the fact that I'm slightly overweight and Iggy's slightly short ( he gets this from his mother, she's also a dwarf ) we tend to get picked on a lot. you know like "He's got so many rolls he could start his own bakery kinda thing" Also, Iggy's in High School and tends to fit perfectly into gym lockers. Well a lot of the time when I'm picked on I get the insatiable urge to sit on my abuser and squash the breath right out of him..... but I refrain. Iggy also in recent months has exercised great self control.... he has on numerous occasions been suspended from school for upper cutting his abusers in the crotch. Instead of acting on these hostile feelings and physically hurting someone, we go home and shoot and frag our video enemies till the urge subsides. Recently we have not had a game that challenges us which means we spend more time in public which leads to more abuse and the possibility of us hurting someone. So I guess you can see why I am the most deserving person to win this prize. It just may stop me from killing someone

I love seeing all the people who post for these drawings and I look at their post total and it is between 1 and 10. Not that I care, its important to promote the site, and its good for these people to see what's going on here, and maybe they will start posting more. I just wish for a world where the lurkers aren't the majority and therefore more likely to win contests.
On a side note that is not so much a side note as the above note was, I do not want Ikaruga sake set. Someone else would be better served, as I would only resell it in order to purchase a different game.
