And let the Matrix hate begin..

(For the record, I loved Reloaded and Revolutions.. maybe that's because I actually understood the ending..)

Now the question is... ask for these for christmas or just buy em myself? The situation gets even more complex when one takes into account the fact that I have a MASSIVE list of games to buy (including Halo 2 and Metroid Prime 2) AND I was thinking of buying an iBook (and asking for only some aid to buy one for Christmas). So much to buy, so little money.

Well if everyone's hating the Matrix. I might as well confess I hate the 2nd & 3rd LOTR movies much more than the 2nd & 3rd Matrix movies.

EDIT: Extended editions would be torture.

Was advised that Matrix 2 and 3 sucked so I never watched it (although I probably wouldn't enjoy it if I did). Loved LotR, but still holding out for an even better boxset...

Better Boxset you say?!?!?

Irrigardless of the suckiness or lack of sucking of the sequels, I still will not be purchasing the Ultimate Matrix box set. I already own about half the discs in the set and don't feel-life being forced to re-purchase all the discs in the set to get the discs that I want or missing/the one disc I actually want to replace.

As Two Towers was greatly improved by the extended cut I am waiting quite eagerly for the extended cut of Return of the King.

Only better box set I could think of is if they Jackson were ever able to make the Hobbit, then release it's dvd extended cut in a box set with the 3 extended cuts of the LotR movies.

Great! Do you want to explain the ending to me? I saw the first movie countless times, Reloaded thrice, and Revolution only once. The ending made no sense and was completely unsatisfying. Please explain.

i'm not sure that understanding the ending relates entirely to the movie sucking. 10 minutes of pseudo-brilliance justifying 4 hours of mediocrity?

it was just... disappointing.

I enjoyed Matrix 1 & 2 but 3 was the one that I was disapointed with. It was nothing but sheer overkill.

I can understand why people hated the 2nd one though, some of the philosophically babble was pretty stupid. Still, it was enjoyable enough for me.

(For the record, I loved Reloaded and Revolutions.. maybe that's because I actually understood the ending..)I could not have said this any better!!!

But I will not be buying it again unless they put it out in anamorphic widescreen with DTS sound or a Superbit Edition.

Here is the simplist way to explain the ending of the Matrix trilogy: "Go play the Matrix Online to free more minds and live the Matrix"

Meaning A. Buy more Matrix Merch and B. People will be free'd (like the zion people) while some people will choose to live in that false world for normalcy while others for the amzing power they will recieve once enlightened.

Oh, and this box set is why the only Matrix disks i owned were 1 and animatrix, and those gave me almost 20 at Blockbuster for trade in :) This will be a nice set

Alright there mightier-than-thou. I understood completely where they went with the storyline, but that doesn't take away from the fact that the latter two Matrix movies were poor.

The Wachowskis bought way too much into their own hype, and it showed in the way they chose to present the story -- as a series of overly preachy, verbose, and stale monologues that seem completely disjointed. They forgot about fundamentals like character development (line-reading automatons) and plot, and glazed it over with some (excellent, by the way) action sequences. The audience was expected to have bought into the Matrix mythos hook-line-and-sinker before even walking into Reloaded.

Freud would have a field day with Matrix: Reloaded.

It seems like the latter two movies would have been better suited to a printed medium. The Merovingian speech in Reloaded was really cool and stimulating intellectually, but came across horribly in the flow of the film. It's like if you're banging your teacher, and she decides to stop you and lecture on the intricacies of the Divine Comedy. Jesus, woman, lets get back to the action!

The first Matrix was marginal, the second was complete ass and I didn't even bother with the third. So needless to say, I won't be buying that one.

The First LOTR was great, the second marginal, and the third a step or two below the first. I probably won't buy the ultimate box set of it though. There is a point when you just can't watch any more extras. We'll see though.

I cant wait for the EE, and I plan on picking up the RotK EE Box set. As for the Matrix, my brother owns all three of the films, and thats more then enough Matrix for me.

Thanks for the website it's great but a lot of it I sort of knew. Not exactly as they put it but amazingly close.
