This is the markdown list for a store in the Atlanta area. Most of the prices ending in .95 or .99 should be nationwide while the .98 and .48 prices are the YMMV. From what TubTub stated apparently it depends on what isn't selling at your local TRU, so I guess the solution is dont buy games from TRU for a few months and mabye we'll see a 99cent Halo 2 LE or a going out of business banner...here you go.

The fast that La Pucelle already dropped to $24 at my store totally shows the YMMV of it. I want to get excited about it but there were a few games on the last thread like this that i wanted but ended up not going down at my store. YMMV indeed.

I seen Fatal Frame II (Ps2) with a red tag on it on Wendsday. The only problem was that it was behind the counter (along with La Pucelle) and I couldn't see the price.

I picked up some of these games last week as well.
Castlevania: loI was $10
Turok (ps2) was $3.48
Turok (XBOX) was $5
Tenchu was $5

Hopefully this means at least Manhunt will be cheap as well.

My TRu still has Manhunt at $30.

Last week, I checked and Xbox Manhunt was $25. PS2 Manhunt was about $15. I did buy the Manhunt Strategy guide for a penny though. I figured I was going to pick up the game sooner or later.

I've been wanting to get Manhunt (PS2) and $15 sounds like a pretty good price. I rented it from GameFly when it first came out and realized it is a game that requires a LOT of patience and time - time I didn't want to spend holding up another rental from coming in. I turned it back in after a few days.

I'm also kinda waiting until I get a PS2 headset since I hear it is a little more immersive to have "The Director" talking only to you in your headset. You can also use it to attract the attention of your enemies by talking into the mic.

I guess I'll post this here since the threads already started. Besides the tons of price drops at TRU tomorrow(Thursday), there will be a ton of mark ups too. A lot of games will be getting a $1 or $2 mark up or higher. For example, Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green will now be $34.99 instead of $33.99(the first 2 weeks they were out the TRU retail was $29.99, slowly they've been getting higher). Just to give you guys a heads up next time you walk into TRU.

But now for a little bit of good news. TRU has started sending out an R-zone catalog to people on the mailing lists with a bunch of coupons in it. The catalog lists all the games and their new prices. Final Fantasy 1 & 2 for GBA is $34.99 in the catalog, but $29.99 in the stores currently. The original EyeToy is shown at $29.99, so I wonder if this is a universal price drop coming up. There are, also, many coupons inside, such as one for $10 off any $100 Nintendo purchase with no exceptions. I'm guessing they forgot to put excludes hardware, but if you get lucky you'll be able to get a DS, GBA SP, or Cube for $10 off. There are quite a few other coupons, but I can't remember them all right now. The coupons are good starting 12/3.

I just got back from TRU (the Tucker location in the original post) and I bought the following:

Siren - $10.98
Xenosaga - $14.98

I pricechecked Devil May Cry and it came up as $20, but at half off... and that would have made it $9.99

In a different vein, at BB, I got:

Front Mission 4 - $14.99
Metal Arms - $9.99

BTW, I may end up going back tomorrow after I do some more research on the titles in terms of reviews.

This was kinda of a strange sale. There was several hot buy signs out and decided to pick up DMC and MAOZ for the heck of it. Strangely, they rang up for less than the hot buy price. After they rang up, I went back for Xenosaga but it rang up the hot buy price so I decided to shelf it.

Additionally, the green tag clearance items had an additional 50% off. I thought about getting Eternal Darkness as a gift for ~$9 but decided against it.

I stopped by my TRU tonight and scanned a ton of games. Picked up:

Beyond Good and Evil - $4.98
Fatal Frame II - $17.98
Siren - $10.98
Sword of Mana - $8.98

They had some others, like Castlevania LOI and Bomberman Generations for GC for really cheap, but I passed. Also, the PSOne/LCD Screen combo was only $39.98...I may have to go back for that one.

can someone clarify?

I went down to TRU tonight again to pick up some green tag stuff. I didn't find anything really good(at least not till I get the $10 coupon in the mail) so I found some green tagged legos for my little brother. I go to checkout and they ring up at green tag price. like I said before, around the store there are tags to the effect of 'get an additional 50% off green tag price' with 'additional' bolded and underlined. I saw some right next to the regular green tag signs so I figured it meant you could get 75% off. so I get to checkout and the employees say green tag is only 50% off and the other signs(...'additional'...) are saying the same thing as the earlier signs. I took them and showed them the two different signs next to each other and asked the difference(why would they have two different signs that in the end say the exact same thing) and they just said 'the signs mean the same thing'. I decided to say 'fuck it' and just left. was I correct in assuming that it means 75% off green tag items? if so, how can I get this through the employees' heads? thanks.

tubtub
12-03-2004, 12:15 AM
The green tag sale is still just 50% off. There were a select number of stores that upped this to 70%, but only about 50 of them. The ad says an additional 50% off green tag merchandise because green tag merchandise is 50% off the marked price. Green tag merchandise is mostly old stuff thats marked down so you get an "additional" 50% off the clearance price. Most people may not know about the green tag sale so it makes more sense for them. For CAGers, they've known of the sale since August so additional to them means 50% + 50%.

It's all a part of marketing and getting people into the stores. Did anyone else notice this week that Dragonball Z games are $5 off this week, but all the signs in the store say in huge letters "Save $5 off" followed by in smaller print "any playstation 2, gamecube, or gameboy advance dragonball z game". Dragonball Z is put at the last line though so most people assume its $5 off every title.

OK, I picked up three PSOne/LCD combos tonight--1 for me, 1 for eBay (I know, I know), and 1 for a friend. The good news: $39.98, and they still have (not kidding) probably 15-20 left.
I would be happy to pick some up for people, but I'll need non-credit card PayPal up front. After tax and shipping/insurance, it will probably be about $50, but I'll look into it further. PM me if you're interested.

Definitely have to check my local TRU tomorrow. I could really use one of those PSone/LCD combos. I already have a PSone but for that price in my current circumstances it would be a step up from only being able to use my portables (Lynx, Game Gear, GBA, DS) for gaming. I just found out today about a six month contract position that I'd definitely need to get an apartment nearby to avoid a killer commute but I wouldn't want to live in this area any longer than necessary. So the bulk of my stuff would stay in storage.

The Tucker location may be 'on to us'. I was there today and one of the staff said 'oh no, not again'. Now, I took it was just random talk and left it alone. Later on I heard the same person say 'I just know he (referring to me) is going to ask us to 'check the prices' on all of those in his hand. If you want the damn games, just buy them for crying out loud.' With that, I placed all that I had down and left the store. I went to GS and got Luigi's Mansion, Metroid Prime, and Viewtiful Joe with their BOGO deal.

You should have grabbed another dozen at random, just to make them feel relieved when you only asked to have your original selections checked.

They have a lot of damn nerve resenting price checks. If it was really such an onerous task, why not just mark the shelves correctly and be done with it?

I would have told them "If you kept your pricing current and basically did you job I wouldnt have to do this!"

Then proceed to ask for a manager and nail his a**.

There's one in Augusta where my girlfriend lives. They have the old school paper slips for their games, and you can take THOSE to any scanner in the store and have them scanned for price checks. I may just end up going there when I take my next trip down there and buy the games if they have any listed. And yes, it IS gay that the scanners aren't in the R-Zone. If I hear 'it's priced as marked' one more time, I'll go crazy. And besides, here's an oxymoron for you: the TRU in question was crowded. A TRU crowded? A sight comparable to the Loch Ness monster: many have claimed to see it, but few believe it.

I also make it a point to leave ANY store the minute I feel threatened or pestered. I mean, I know most employees get the Christmas chip on their shoulder, but shit...

I wouldn't mind picking up Sword of Mana or Fire Emblem at cheap prices, but I dunno if I want to take the trip down to my TRU (like a 20 minute drive) for a YMMV...

And, for whatever reason, I feel weird telling my parents that I'm going to Toys 'R' Us. And to buy games? Shit, my parents are still trying to get me to "grow out of it."

In Grand Rapids, MI (Alpine Ave) I picked up:

PSOne with working LCD screen - $49.98
Fire Emblem - $24.98
Sword of Mana - $9.98
And the cashier conveniently let me use the "$10 off 2" coupon to ease the pain.

They had a number of other games marked down; I remember:
Soul Calibur II (PS2) $4.98
Red Faction II (PS2) $4.98
Hmmm. My memory's going. I can't remember any others.

For those interested, the 28th St/Beltline store didn't have any markdowns, no LCD combos, no Fire Emblems.

Do you know what stores have the 70%?

That's how all the TRUs I go to are--it's really nice to just take a dozen slips and scan them without having to deal with the employees.

And yes, it IS gay that the scanners aren't in the R-Zone.
I don't know if a situation like that can have a sexual preference.

And besides, here's an oxymoron for you: the TRU in question was crowded. A TRU crowded? A sight comparable to the Loch Ness monster: many have claimed to see it, but few believe it.
Incredibly, I witnessed the same thing at my TRU tonight. I even commented on it--"I haven't seen a Toys R Us this busy in close to a decade..." Could it be...the end of the world?

Maybe....just maybe....there may finally be a backlash against Wal-Mart. Remember, Wal-Mart was stealing business away from TRU.

People are starting to get hip to the fact that Wal-Mart might be bad for all other business and America in general.

Yes, I went to TRU today and it was pretty busy too. It seemed odd. I thought maybe there was a sale I didn't know about. Maybe it's just the normal Holiday rush and I just never noticed it before because I haven't shopped at TRU at Christmas time since I was 7.

My bf and I went Microwave shopping and all of the stores we went to were very busy (Walmart was particulary bad).

I went to TRU and got a good deal on Castlevania: LOI for PS2 and Metal Gear Substance: Xbox.

I got both games for only $10.99. Castlevania was only marked down to 12.98 and Metal Gear Substance was a green tag game that was only $7.50 after you took 50% off. Then I used the R'Zone mailer coupon buy two games under $19.99 get $10 off and it brought it down to $10.99 so I got both games for $5.50 each! The best part is that the cashier let me keep my mailer coupon so I can do it again before it expires on Dec. 31. Today, was a good day :)

Also, they had Fire Emblem (GBA) for $27.98. So I guess some of these clearance prices are very YMMV.

I went to TRU back on Saturday night since I was in the area of Jantzen Beach. That locaton's TRU is still old school, with the paper tickets and the bulletproof video game booth. Some of the games I wanted like Sword of Mana wasn't even on the wall! But I saw Hitman 2 for $6.xx and had to scan it. I also scanned Siren. Siren came up $19.99, and the Hitman 2 price really was $6.xx and I got it. There was a copy of Sword of Mana in the bulletproof videogame booth, but it rang up 29.99, pfft.

While I was there, I picked up Jet Grind Radio for the DC, and two Max Payne 2 guides for free. The FFXI guide was only $5 off at $15.99 for the Spring 2004 version, and another guide was half off for $7.49. I need to make a trip to the Clackamas and Lloyd Center locations.

Actually, I do notice that too - that TRUs have price scanners that are all out of range of the zone. I only know one store near me that still uses the ticket system and those tickets can be be scanned by yourself. But then again most of the tickets are not in their correct pocket and do not truly reflect their stock. Sometimes seeing the actual games in their plastic cases gives a bettere representation of their inventory.

Only if you are black and were with two other friends. One of the guys there was buying a dvd remote, but the cashier told him it might not work with his PS2. The cashier was saying there is a playstation 2 plus (besides the PStwo slim thing) or something, I have never heard of that.

Nope not me, there is one cashier there that is pretty cool(the longhaired guy who looks like he has done a lot of drugs?) He alerted me to the $7racing evolution, and that bloodrayne was on sale(it was a few dollars cheaper for bloodrayne at the la cienega store so i got it there)

I am white and 5'9 and usually asking for price checks on everything in the store. :D

I went to the Porter Ranch TRU in San Fernando Valley. Full price on every game I checked against on the OP list that was possibly a nationwide price.

There is no nationwide price. I went to 3 TRU today and prices were different in all 3 of them.

For People who PMed me. Castlevania was $19( I didn't even bother). I picked up 5 Fire Emblems for $13 for 5 of you, (TRU with $11 FE was empty) I'll ship them for $18 each. Please Pm me if you still need them. Otherwise I return them back to the store.

The TRU in Lloyd Mall in Portland, OR is actually closing. They started the closing "sales" yesterday and I headed over there. Picked up another Siren for $10.98 (I still have one left to sell to a CAGer), RE: CVx for $5.46 or something, my cashier kept pressing buttons on the register before I told him that was the price and showed him the list. I found boxes of Maximo: Army of Zin on the floor, but there was none in the glass case behind the cashiers or in the back. BUM. I also scanned Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga because it was the first time I ever saw it in the store, but still $34.99

This morning, I called the store and asked when the REAL store closure sales were going to start. They said to call back sometime next week and see, it would start at 20%. I don't know how much lower it'll get, but this store is the closest to me and easiest to get to. You bet your wallet I'll be going once a week!

Picked up Siren for $11.98 at the Culver City, CA TRU. Also the guy in front of me was picking up R Racing Revolution (PS2), it was in a display of $14.99 games. But it rang up as $7.99 so I tried the GCN version and it rang up $7.99 as well. Not a bad deal. Will probably go back and pick up Castlevania LOI since I passed on it last night.

Lots of copies of aria of sorrow at the culver city store, but they are ringing up at $30. I did get castlevania LOI for ten bucks and rtype final for $10 but that was it.

Also, R racing revolution is ringing up at $15 today, i asked the cashier about this, saying "wasnt the price on these lower yesterday" and he said they raised the prices.

They did this about 5 months ago during the green tag sale with games like soul calibur 2 and prince of persia(they were half price and then went back up)

Props to anyone who got aria of sorrow cheap. I envy you.

Oh and they would not accept my photocopied couopon for the "$10 of any 2 titles under $20" and i made a nice color copy and sized it up and everything. but still decent deals on lament of innocence and rtype final imo.

I was going by the OP's information that read:

This is the markdown list for a store in the Atlanta area. Most of the prices ending in .95 or .99 should be nationwide while the .98 and .48 prices are the YMMV.

These sales are usually ongoing until they sell out. It's a clearance

I finally made a stop to my Toys'R'Us today. I picked up Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance for $6.28, Castlevania: LOI for $9.98, and Soul Calibur 2 for $9.98. Seemed like my TRU was on top. They had most of the games marked down to their correct clearance price. AOS rang up for $23.xx for me (passed on it), also.

Shame I didn't have the $10 off two games $19.99 or less coupon... Would have made the deal all the sweeter.

Will they PA if I come back there that day with the unopened game and reciept?
