I just won a copy of the game Rhapsody on ebay for 61 dollars and some change....I've been looking for this game for ever and I'm always losin' bids In the last minute. Well anyway In the title description It says Rhapsody for the PS1 or PS2 Mint condition etc. so I bid and won. I start to read the small print at the bottom and It says comes with everything but the manual..WTF..thats not mint In my book but he did mention It...now the problem should I just buy It and learn a lesson or should I be " That Guy " and contact the seller and try to Renig on the deal ?

It depends on how you feel about your ebay account. I personally hate people that do that, but its up to you.

It'd be easier to give you an opinion if you posted a link or picture of the auction.

Yeah, screw that person... You can't say a game is in Mint condition unless it is.

I would pay the guy for listing It but I hate to buy something for that price when Its not complete .

You can try to talk to the seller about it and see what he will do, but its your mistake and if the seller doesn't want to do anything you should honor the deal.

In my book, that'd go under the "deceptive listing" catagory....

YoshiFan1

I'd try to get a lower price and see what the seller says.

Edit - just looked at the auction and the description clearly states no manual is included in regular size text.

Although the title could be seen as misleading, I think the description was very clear.

Without seeing the auction and exact wording ect... I'd say you're obligated to buy it. You said yourself that the guy had in the listing that the manual wasn't included. Mint doesn't mean complete, mint can mean a lot of things, mint disc, mint case. I use mint to describe things that aren't complete. If the disc is mint, then it's still mint whether there is a manuall with it or not.

Of course you can always just not pay, you'll probably just take a negative feedback (maybe) and 1 strike which really doesn't mean shit. It's way too easy for e-bay buyers to back out and not pay.

he said it was mint, not complete. i would say contact the dealer and see if you can work something out, but it is also your fault for not reading first.

dude i dont mean to be a jerk, but it clearly says it right there.

if you dont want to go through with the deal, e-mail the seller, and ask if he can get the person that bid $60.75 to buy it...if not, be a man and go thoguh with it...

i hate non paying bidders

I think it's just your fault, the guy CLEARLY says it doesn't have the manual and it wasn't in the picture either. It's not like it was burried in tons of tiny little disclaimer text. The whole listing is basically 1 sentence with a couple bullet points. How far exactly did you read before you bid?

Maybe they used someone else's picture or it just has the insert cover (it seems like rental copies often have that problem)

Nah, multi-disc games usually have a front and back insert and manual

Mint Condition means the game/item is in superb condition, Mint doesn't mean complete. "Fine Print"?, it's right there in plain sight that it says it doesn't come with manual. You have no one to blame but yourself, I would understand if it was under a mound of text but in this case it's pretty obviously there. I wouldn't stiff the guy, i'd myself would go through it or tell him to give it to the last person that bid.

Since you didn't fully read the auction its your own fault.
However, I would say pay for it ( hey you bid and won) and then maybe
note in his feedback something about Mint doesn't equal manual missing.

Well I'm going to go ahead and pay him. 1 .I still think thats a good price on that game and 2. thats my wifes account and I would never here the end of It she got any kind of negative feedback ..And a valuable lesson was learned and just like President Bush said Quote "There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again." —George W. Bush, Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 17, 2002

Mint doesn't mean complete. Mint discs, mint case, mint manual (new manual) it's not suppouse to be complete.
It clearly states "the only thing missing is the manual". Nothing misleading here. Sorry man. It only takes one time to learn. O:)

its your fault for not fully reading the auction....you cant read part of it and assume the rest....if im bidding on a car-door, i cant assume the car comes with it...dumb example? maybe...but you get the point, you're obligated to either buy or be an ass

What he said. I'm sure you can resell it on eBay and take a $5-$10 loss. Just take it as a lesson I guess.

Buy it, I've seen the game go for 80+ a few times. You got a good deal. I'm sure you can find a copy of the manual somewhere for cheap if you want it that badly.

It's your fault for not reading it right.

Even though it looks like you've decided, I'll give you my 2 cents. If this were me I'd either

(a) Pay him and move on.
(b) E-mail him and tell him I stupidly didn't read the entire auction so I didn't realize the manual is missing, and would like to cancel the auction if he is okay with that? If not I totally understand, just let me know and I'll pay you straight away.

I'd lean more toward option (a) as the guy says up front 'no manual' and doesn't try to bury it under a ton of text or whatever.

I'd pay him and move on. This is the thing I hate about selling used and/or broken stuff on eBay. I've been selling off my old Transformers but most of them are not in that great of shape. I'm very clear about the problems and the condition of everything but I know sooner or later I will get a negative feedback because someone can't read. I wish there was a third party judge for feedback bu it is just impossible to do this...

No manual is not MINT. I would renig and tell him to put in the title disc is mint no manual.

I agree, i see "mint" as different from "complete". Mint would imply that the game is in mint condition (i.e. no scratches). You can see if the seller is reasonable enough work something out with you but they might not be since its not really their fault.

People use "Mint" to mean a variety of things and it causes major problems, and a general miscommunication when these types of terms are not well defined. Usually it's ascribed to an item to increase it's value fraudulently. Every time I get one of those Ebay surveys I add my 2 cents about defining terms of item conditions (grading standards), but it seems they havent listened.

The term "MINT" when describing the state of an item or it's condition means something uncirculated, unopened from manufacturer seal, or in such condition that it does not differ from the moment it was produced.
If it has even a hair of a scratch or a fingerprint or scuff, it can not be considered "Mint". I'd much prefer the term "Excellent" to describe a retail item that has been opened. So all you kids out there who have never traded a coin in your misdirected, short lives: STOP SAYING THINGS ARE MINT, they're not unless you're an anal retentive collector who actually KNOWS WHAT THE FUCK HE'S TALKING ABOUT !!

In the case of a mint "game", the case, manual, and disc not only should be present, but should show absolutely no signs of wear whatsoever. When you buy a "game" in a store, you get all those things, don't you?

If the auction describes the DISC as mint, that's another story and you're an idiot for not reading the listing.

That sucks not only does he screw you on the mint but it takes a month to arrive. ebay sellers suck.

Anyhow I hope you enjoy the game, its one of the few ps1 RPGs I haven't had a chance to play.

Not to be a downer but I haven't seen too many good reviews of Rhapsody. Most say it's the least fun game from Japan 1 aka Nippon Ichi.
