Cheap ass link (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=62054&item=8150860 055&rd=1)

Is this guy crazy or what? My favorte part is how shipping is $19.95 to the US but Alaska and Hawaii cost more.... like the $450 mark-up won't cover it... Sheesh...

Maybe it's plated with Gold and comes with a diamond encrusted controller? and maybe a few dozen games?

What a jerk-off.

Needless to say, he just lost money with the eBay fees it took to list that. I don't see any sane person buying that. And if someone insane does accidentally manage to buy it, they'll never figure out how to pay.

This new PS2 is so small and slim and already has the ethernet port built in so no need to spend extra on an adapter!
Oh thank God! I was worried about having to pay $40 for a netowrk adapter. \:D/

how much is it to sell an item on ebay?

These are the basic fees. If you don't buy anything special like a highlighting, bold, subtitle, etc., this is how much it costs.

Insertion Fees
Starting or Reserve Price Insertion Fee
$0.01 - $0.99..... $0.30
$1.00 - $9.99 ..... $0.35
$10.00 - $24.99..... $0.60
$25.00 - $49.99..... $1.20
$50.00 - $199.99..... $2.40
$200.00 - $499.99..... $3.60
$500.00 or more..... $4.80

Final Value Fees
Closing Price Final Value Fee
Item not sold No Fee
$0.01 - $25.00..... 5.25% of the closing value
$25.01 - $1,000.00..... 5.25% of the initial $25.00 ($1.31), plus 2.75% of the remaining closing value balance ($25.01 to $1,000.00)
Over $1,000.01..... 5.25% of the initial $25.00 ($1.31), plus 2.75% of the initial $25.00 - $1,000.00 ($26.81), plus 1.50% of the remaining closing value balance ($1,000.01 - closing value)

He didn't get anything special, so it cost him almost $5 to list it.

So I'm guessing there's no shortage of these. I haven't been looking so I'm not sure.

I hate how we as eBay buyers get raped on shipping. I buy old consoles via eBay b/c they are hard to find where I live so I have no alternative. They usually charge me $20 shipping then I get the package via USPS and it says $3 right on the stamp. Great!

I know what you're saying. Some sellers go way overboard with "handling" costs. I think even UPS ground shipping would be less than $19.95.

I once paid a seller $4 to ship a DVD box set and when it arrived a few days later I saw $7.25 on the postage stamp and it was in a Priority Mail box. Just depends on who you deal with.

yeah, I try to approximatre shipping costs but packaging and time are worth something too. As long as it's ballpark I'm OK with it...

I had that happen to me when I bought my TG16. The guy wanted $20 to ship it, when I knew it'd cost $15 maximum. He bitched and moaned when I told him this, so I said fuck it and sent him the money. Then I get it and it says $12.xx on the stamp, the box was a free USPS box, it had no insurance, and used old newspapers to pad it, so it's not like he spent any money on the shipping materials.
