View Full Version : the fun with screen names thread

ok I know we all must wonder what some folks screen names mean so let's play a game. The person that posts after me needs to guess what my SN means. After he guesses I will edit my post to show the answer. And then the person who posts after him has to guess his. Game on!
answer is Jeremy Larlee. The advantage of an odd last name is no competition for email addresses

WhipSmart has some significance too, if anyone cares to venture a guess...

Seems too obvious, but I'd say doubledown is a blackjack reference.
Chickenhawk
The character from the Warner Bros cartoon. The sometimes nemesis of Foghorn Leghorn
It actually came from a song parody (a parody of what song I don't recall) that a co-worker had heard on X-mas. Something along the line of "Chickenhawk, the Christmas Bitch". That whole holiday season that guy called me that and Chickenhawk kinda stuck from then on. Maybe this is the source of the parody, or....
Also: Chickenhawk is the name of a documentary on members of NABLA - Men who love little boys.
...this could have been the source as well. I didn't know this at all. Makes me want to change my name kinda. :? Nah!

Judging from your screen name and avatar, you are a middle-aged white man working as a cologne salesman in the mall. You get no support from your boss, your wife or your ex-wife, who cheated on you with the lawnmower boy.

Answer: My last name is Gift, but that was too plain, so Gifuto is the romanji for how it would be written in katakana (this lousy minor has to be used for something). Then I added a "The" for more flavor.

Good try.
It's a combination of two names
Warren Buffet - (the Oracle from Omaha)- This man borrowed 10K and invested it in the stock market and now is one of the richest men in the world. Started and CEO of Bershire Hathaway.
Gordon Gekko - Wall Street Raider from the move Wall Street played by Michael Douglas. Douglas won best supporting actor that year for his role. It was also his first serious role (previous movies were comedies) which now has made him the guy in Hollywood to play an Investment Banker. One of the best written movies of all time.
EDIT: You can see one of my favorite lines by Gekko in my sig.

Well, the last couple of posters have already been exposed, so I will hazard a guess as to WhipSmartBanky...
We already have the 'Banky' part. I believe that "Whip-Smart" refers to an album by Liz Phair.
Now, who wants to take a crack at mine? Here's a hint: It's not a drug reference.
The meaning behind "Zincdust": I came up with my screen name back in 1996, back when Goldust was one of the monster heels in the WWF, and one of my favorite wrestlers. I randomly picked another element from the periodic table (Atomic #30: Zinc) and became... Zincdust!
Yes, a boring story, I know. 8)

Pretty good, I did love both series on PS1, and that's what the 123 means, the first three games in each series. I'm kind of indifferent now, but I've moved to the Jak and Ratchet games.

Haha, I've gotta say that's a pretty good one! I've never looked at my screen name that way before! Funny guess, Wshakspear.
Rapsodist is really just a small word play on "rhapsodist" which means (and I'm taking portions of Merriam-Webster's definitions here): one who delivers highly emotional literary works, extravagant discourses, and/or epic poems. I did remove the "h" from the word to highlight my love of hip hop and how it's a primary influence on me.
The truth is that the term "rap" finds its roots in the word "rhapsody" so my wordplay isn't really altogether unique. But I still think that it works since most people don't seem to realize that aforementioned fact.
(I suppose this is a similar situation to the title for that MTV show "FANatic" which thought it was being clever but didn't realize that the term "fan" was already an abbreviation of the word "fanatic." Stupid MTV execs...)
