I have a request to all of you PC guru's out there. Somhow or other, whenever I right click on something on the Internet, my little display box deal comes up, with the usual stuff. (IE and Windows XP, by the way) However, looking down the box of stuff, it seems  >>>FREE PORN GALLERIES<<< is one of my options. How can I remove this?! I've clicked on it, and it does nothing, and I just want it gone!

I used Spybot Search and Destroy, but it is still there! To make myself more clear, I can right click on my desktop, and the usual box will appear. If I load an Internet page and right click anywhere on it, that message will be one of my options. I've cleared my cookies, deleted temporary files, etc. and it is still there. Any more help?

Yeah err I might of had something like that once.

I simply reinstalled IE since I couldn't get it out, but then I switched to Firefox and no problems ever!

Well a search on "FREE PORN GALLERIES" turned up 2,192,492 pages, so I'll get back to you in a little bit.

FYI, it was my dumb friend who was looking at the porn when this showed up! I let him into my room while I ran down to Subway. The next day, there it is!

Don't forget to use Ad-Aware. http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

Ad-Aware will catch stuff Spy-Bot doesn't, and visa-versa.

This might seem a little rudamentary, but look through your add/remove programs list for anything suspicious. Google anything that does. Basically, it sounds like a shell extension that got installed somehow. Any good evil villain would hide it from the Add/remove listing, but you never know.

You could try this to manage shell extensions, but note I've never used it, and I don't endorse it at all. I saw it at Shellcity.net - a good site that hasn't steered me wrong yet, but user beware.

[Nevermind] - http:// frank.neatstep.com/index.php?t=projects/ftm

Edit: There's got to be a way to edit what shell extentions run from within Windows, but I can't remember what it is. I guess it's best to ignore that link and let somebody else tell you how to do it with Windows.

And for those who mentioned it, what do I do to get Firefox and delete IE? What are the differences? I've heard a lot of people say Firefox is good.

In general you can edit your registry with regedit and look here HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MenuExt
to find the right click option and remove it. Of course you have to be comfortable editing your registry, very bad things can happen if you dont know what you are doing.

Fuck! I just used AdAware and it didn't get rid of it either! :bomb: Ok, guys, I'm ready to switch. Tell me why Firefox is better and how I go about getting it...please...

firefox is the best when you are looking at sites, I only use IE for sites that i trust like ign, cag, espn, cnn etc.

Fire fox rarely crashes, has faster load times, and no popups! just go to google type in firefox and you'll find the modzilla site with it.

WARNING: this will remove ALL additional context menus in IE (including Googletoolbar, flashget, etc)

1. close all IE windows

2. paste this into notepad:

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MenuExt]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MenuExt]

3. goto file/save as and enter "context.reg" WITH QUOTES (prevents notepad from making context.reg.txt)

4. run the file and answer yes then ok

Rig, try Hijack This :

http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html

Read thru some forums like this : http://www.techsupportforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=50 to decipher some of what the program returns. It's a great program.

Try doing a system restore a few days prior to when this problem occured. Goto START>PROGRAM>ACCESSORIES>SYSTEM TOOLS>SYSTEM RESTORE.

Just choose 'Restore to an earlier time' and give it a few days before the problem started on the calendar that comes up.

It's been on here a while, so I wouldn't know when to set it. I think I'm going to use Firefox for a while and if I like it, delete IE alltogether. The one thing I don't like about Firefox so far is that words (on this site) seem to scrunch together tighter than what they did on IE.... Thanks for the help so far guys, and I may try some more times to get that off...

you can run msconfig if that's what you're speaking of... it's just easier to re-install IE and then go get Firefox... it blocks 99% of pop-ups and i rarely get any adware (i run adaware and spybot once a week, 5 things at most, and i do a hefty bit of downloading). BUT KEEP IE FOR WINDOWS UPDATE!!
