Here is what I have in mind: 8-10 players, All-Star difficulty, best 4 out of 7, fighting up one from the bottom. The winner will personally receive a prize from me. If we get an even 10, it will be a 10 man league.

Only myself and two other people have officially signed up. I thought there was an interest in it, but I guess everyone is too busy. I sent PMs out to everyone, but it has been three days, and I realize even a 10 player holiday tournament was too ambitious. Instead, we are going to have a more exclusive tournament.

Here is what I have in mind: 4 players, Pro difficulty (like the CAG league), best 4 out of 7, fighting turned up. The winner will receive a reward that I will personally ship out.

It will probably go for more than one day. Best case scenario, you get knocked out in four games. Worst case: you go to 2 straight 7 game series and play all 7 games.

Anyone can try to bring more people for an 8 player tournament, but things seem to run smoother in smaller numbers.

the fighting i think, according to pm is on the default, i voted for a click up from none- it will only cause bruisers like andrew peters or domi to fight, meaning that unless hacked to death, miro satan or marian hossa wont fight. it actually really can turn a game around.

Yeah, thats the best way. You would never see Modano fighting Domi.

Oh--regarding the difficulty level, I would prefer Pro but I can settle for All-Star if that's what the majority of us want.

And with fighting, I think we should have one notch up from zero. I'm pretty sure the current CAG league has fighting turned off, as I've never been in a fight, but I think minimal fighting would be cool. Just not too much.

Sorry I have not responded to your PM but I'd be available to play in the tournament. When did you plan on starting it?

I'm going to be on vacation from work the week of xmas so this would be an ideal time to get a bunch of games in. I also would be available to play in the evening the rest of the month because of a smaller work load. (Thank You Holiday Season! :D ) I can play anytime after 7pm cst during the week except Thursdays. Weekends depend on what I doing.

im not sure how it is online, but in my franchise one click above fights sparingly. i recommend not swiping people with sticks too much. :twisted:

I think for now we are signing into the first tournament. We were going to make a new tournament but the original CAGXMAS one now looks like it may be eventually filled up.

I need to know by 10pm, but it sounds like All-Star, 4 out of 7 series, fighting 1 up from bottom are the preferred settings.

I think you can change league settings before it starts without restarting everything. It seems easiest to just get this one up and running before we start another one.

Maybe its just my blood pressure, but it's literally making me dizzy trying to figure out a hockey league, a hockey tournament, and the same with football. Adding another tournament just makes it that much more confusing. The first one should be deleted now if we're not using it to avoid confusion.

That's weird the football game lets me change league settings before it starts, maybe its just some of them though. The hockey is a little more inclusive when it comes to options.

CAGXMAS 2 has been created. The password is CAG. Teams are to be picked on a first come first served basis. I chose the San Jose Sharks, but I will give them up if anyone wants them.

You can hook and slash, as it is done alot by some players. Your only punishment will be the penalty box, although penalties are left on default.

Right now, 7 are signed up, 2 are going to this afternoon, and the only person I haven't heard from is Zewone--although he will sign up as he is reliable. From the looks of it, I can get the brackets generated late tonight or sometime tomorrow.

Let me clear up the fighting, it won't happen all that often. I said a while ago it is unrealistic for Modano to fight a guy like Tie Domi. The fighting should mainly happen only with the enforcers....one up from the bottom. I'm sorry if the wrong impression was given, but that is the setting. Apparently, I mistyped the OP, but I said a few times that would be the setting. Now it is fixed.

I apologize for the confusion.

As for the difficulty, the CAGNHL Turbo league is on All-Star, and it was requested in this league to have it be put on All Star. No one put forth an arguement for Pro. I figure it would be a nice change of pace and be a little more realistic to the real NHL game.

i know exactly what you mean. nothing makes me more pissed than when heads just sit back with thier defenders, giving you no chance to get near the net. from my experience, its just as bad on pro, and it pissed me off so much i cant even stand it. i do think though, that cheapassgamers arent wackassgamers and will play the game instead of letting the computer do it. heres to hop.

i believe what you have to do is go to the box score for the game (try this link, if not just go through the league site (http://leagues.espnvideogames.com/t/game.php?l=64054&g=38458)) and at the bottom of the page it should give you option to either award new jersey with the win or reset the results. if that doesn't work, i have no idea, becuase that's how you do it in league play.

Anyway, to explain to my fellow CAGers, I had to pause and I didn't think Nick Zero would flip out if I did. But he did flip out. I'm sorry that I needed to pause--it's not like Xbox Live is more important than the real life situation that I needed to attend to. So Nick Zero flips out and tells me to wait for whistles to pause in the future. I said OK and I apologized, because now I knew that pausing in the middle of the game pissed him off. I thought that was the end of it--I had unintentionally done something which angered Nick Zero and I apologized and said it wouldn't happen again. Then the next thing I know is he turns off his Xbox in the middle of the game.

Not to be an ass or anything, but grow up. I said I was sorry, and it's a freaking game. It's not like it even led to a goal or anything. Nick Zero and I have come to terms. We want to know what the CAGers in the league think should be done.

Should we pick up at Game 4, with me leading the series 3-0?

Or should we re-do Game 3, with me up 2-0.

Personally, I think we should go with choice A, because Nick Zero quit the game in his anger even though I apologized wasn't ever going to do it again. Because he quit, my 1/2 game of hard work of maintaining my 1-0 lead is down the drain if we replay the game.

He of course thinks choice B, as he says I "altered the game" with my pause.

So anyway, just let us know what you think.

Alright, both parties have contacted me through PMs and I heard both sides. I will break this down in my eyes:

Story as I see it:
TJordan was up 1-0 in the final 2 minutes of the second period. TJordan paused the game on a loose puck that could have swung the game in the favor of Nick Zero. This pissed off Nick Zero and he quit the game.

Message to Nick Zero:
Couldn't you have played through the final period anyway? There was still alot of game left, and from the looks of the play by play things looked tight. Is it possible you were frustrated that you couldn't score and looked for something to place blame on? After reading your AIM conversation with TJordan, it sounded like you were also pissed at netcamping and him not controlling his defenders. Did he only pause that one time? Sometimes something very important may come up and the game has to be paused, especially if you have children or pets. Also, I read your AIM conversation with TJordan. Did you really need to be so profane?

Message to TJordan:
Constant netcamping and not controlling your defenders isn't cool, and you apparently admitted to doing it through the AIM you sent me. I know from my 2 games with you that you do seem to pause the games at times that cause a disadvantage for the other player. While you had the lead on me at all times, I especially noticed in our second game (when the game was closer) you would pause the game when I would narrow your lead to a goal or two. While it didn't bother me, I could see how it would upset Nick Zero in something for higher stakes rather than a simple exhibition game. You may not have known, but its a respect issue to pause the game when you have control of the puck.

My questions to both parties:

1) Was that the only pause?
2) How bad was netcamping/not controlling defenders?

This is supposed to be a sim tournament that is being played for fun, and I'm not too happy about this. I want the both of you to reply to this message, and then we can determine what will happen. Also, I would like the feedback of other users on this matter.

I completely understand why Nick Zero could become upset with my pause, however it's not like I pause to purposely screw up the other person. It really offends me that anyone would think I pause to cheat. I would really like to hear from other people I have played about if they think I am cheap. From now on I will always pause only at whistles.

Also, about the netcamping and defenders issue, this also really offends me. I try and play as fair as I can. Now when I told Nick Zero that I netcamp, I meant I like to jam up the front of the opposing net with lots of traffic to enable me to get deflections and rebounds. How is that unfair? Isn't that just playing the game? Maybe you guys have a different definition of netcamping?
And for the defenders, I don't play cheap D at all. I do play laid back defense and I like to let the opposing player make the first move. I don't go right out and try to nail the guy because this leads to too many breakaways. I skate backwards, wait for them to make the move, and then accordingly check or poke check. I don't think that's cheap at all. I would also like to hear from my fellow CAGers about this issue too. Do you guys think I pleay cheap defense?

1. yeah it was the only pause. it was the only pause in all three games as a matter of fact. you know it goes: skater has that extra edge, a pep in his step to be cliche and its him v the goalie. you can feel it in the controller as those familiar with the sport will know that this game is mega realistic, and the momentum is stopped. im all for a pause, but you have to wait for the stripes to blow that whistle, even if they arent calling them :wink:


2. the netcamping isnt horrbile; there's just certain times where it seems like its at the minute it needs to be. im all for total stick control and skating back, clogging lanes, but when the computer controls the wingers, its a little hard to work the puck in or out, since there is no human error involved.

also i apologize to TJ, the leauge and the community, this is mad drama for a hockey game; time is a serious thing, i try to get the most out of it. peace-

This will be the first and last time I do this: I will reset the outcome of the game. My reasoning is that nothing I do will be 100 percent fair, and I haven't heard of either of you causing trouble in games. With that said, if a repeat happens of this, I will be far more harsh, as I already know what I will do. Likely giving ThatsTooBad a bye to the finals.

For future reference: Play through your games all the way regardless of what happens or you will be dropped from the league (barring server problems). I'll take care of any problems later.

Nick Zero and I replayed game 3 and he won 3-2. We tried to play game 4 but we lost connection before the game even started and the game credited him with another 0-0 win. We both agree that this should be reset before we continue our series. So once again lol please reset the series to 2-1 NJ.

I finally played CheapyD in a game and I won 3-2 in 2 overtimes.

Every time I play you we get some nasty lag though.

I have been thinking about this, and I am advancing the schedule to the third round. I know I may have two pissed off players, but here is my reasoning:

1) I have only played ONE game in a tournament I created, and I am getting bored not playing.

2) I have seriously sat around most of the weekend with the XBOX Dashboard on (ask TJordan) waiting for my opponent to come and play. I really couldn't leave to go anywhere as I have been sore as hell from boxing, and Saturday and Sunday are considered prime gaming days. Especially frustrating is my opponent doesn't accept or decline my invites when playing Halo 2.

3) I wanted this thing done by Christmas Eve (this Friday), and at this rate this tournament will drag on until after New Years.

4) I said before Christmas all along. I for one know I will have plenty of new shit to play with on Christmas, and I know hockey will go on the back burner for a little while.

Lets finish off CAGXMAS2 with TJordan taking on ThatsTooBad and I'll face the winner. Lets just wrap everything up by Christmas Eve. The schedule will advance sometime tomorrow. I would do it now, but the ESPN servers shut down on me and I can't access leagues.

I don't know if that's such a good idea...
First off, this is a tournament made for people who like to play NHL, and they wouldn't have signed up if they didn't want to play. Everyone has gotten at least one game in so far.
Second, it is a tournament made for Xmas break. My Xmas break doesnt even start till Friday. Then I have an entire week off to play. Sure, like you said, people will have new Christmas gadgets to play with, but they signed up to play NHL and I'm sure they will be willing to. Plus, many of them also will have some off time from work/school after Christmas, so trying to finish up before then is a bad idea. I'd say we should try to be done by January 1.
I definately think we should give the tournament more time. No need to rush things. Plus, advancing it is gonna piss a lot of people off.

If you really want to play NHL that bad, send me an invite. I'm always on and I'd love to play.

Yeah--that was a good close game in the beginning. I think it was already 3-3 only 10 minutes in. Unfortunately, I made a ton of mistakes with my goalie and as a result you continued on a scoring frenzy while I didn't...
I've never been beaten that bad. Shows how inconsistent I am lol...I beat you 5-0 and 5-2 and then lose like 9-3.

I was only screwing with you about the lag, as it was there. But it was really no different than the other games when you beat me. For some reason, I only have lag problems with this game. On Madden and my other Live games, they all run smooth like I am offline.
