I'm getting a new radio for my car soon, and the satellite radio looks pretty cool except for the monthly fees. No commercials and tons of sports sounds great, but would I be better off just getting a regular car radio?

I would definitely go with satelite radio. It is much better than regular radio, plus the stand up comedy channels make long car trips fly by. I would go with the kind you can take out of your car and plug in at home.

Sirius will have Howard Stern next year, so if you enjoy him, it's a good investment.

XM is cheaper but the signal cuts out a little more because the satellites rest on both coasts. sirius has three satellites that cover both coasts and the mid.
sirius sound quality is alot better than XM.

sirius also has the NFL, which though is almost over would be cool for next season, if u liked football that is. I think Xm has MLB if u are interested in that

A guy I work with has Sirius and he loves it.
It also has a webapp you can use to listen to any station from your computer - So you can still use it even when you are not in your car. I'm not sure if XM has that feature or not.
If you live in my city, its a must. There are NO good radio stations here. The quality is way better, and you can always look up to find the artist and title of each song. You also get TV shows on radio. Some channels are even uncensored. Also, XM has some stuff they charge extra for, like Playboy Radio (don't ask me).
They also have like comedy stations and stuff.

Satellite radio is definitely awesome and worth it. I have no experience with Sirius, but I have XM and it is totally awesome. They have such a broad variety of stations and there are commercials on only a few of the stations, but very few even then. I would definitely get satellite radio--whether you should get Sirius or XM is beyond me, though.

I've got a 10 disc cd changer in my van and I haven't even turned it on since I got XM radio back in October. What can I say? I love it. Something for everyone and the quality is fantastic. I bought one for my wife's car to begin with and within two weeks I had ordered one for myself. I also have the home kit too so you can bring it inside and hook it up to any home stereo system.
I can't tell you which one to get, but I do know that XM's stock is going through the roof while Sirius' stock is falling.

I would rather have just have an in-dash 6 disc changer or even an iPod. I'm too picky about music.

Wow, i'm even more glad i just signed up this after all the good things you guys have said about it. I am getting a Portable XM2go MyFi thing for free after I sign up for just 6 months at $10.00 each month. No contracts or anything after that. Includes a home kit, car kit, and remote. Me = happy Jedi. :D
