I just came back from the Madison Heights, Michigan store and no luck. I could see the 2 options on the cashier's screen, but i also saw that ESPN NFL 2k5 and College Hoops 2k5 for the xbox rang up for $19.99 each.
I also noticed that the employees were buzzing about, seemed like something had them all feeling cheated. So I think at one time this morning it worked and they are unhappy campers right now.

I went to 2 diff stores in Rochester NY. One they just price adjusted it back up, not saying a thing. The second one, she was all flustered (she knew they were wrong), and she ended up giving them to me 2 for 20 instead of 2 for 30 after the price adjust. Not good enough of a deal for me.

So far, yes... but you have to buy it in multiples of two... so if you buy both KD and MAT2 at the same time, it SHOULD go through... but I've been strictly sticking to the PC/PH/GH titles with 2 per so I can't personally confirm it. I'm going there right now. I'll have news later tonight all.

For some reason, Drakengard (which is $20) doesn't ring up as $5. It rang up full price.

Also, I don't think CC carries Katamari Damacy.

While I'm excited, and quite frankly, rather surprised that this glitch is still in effect, I'm a little hesitant to try it again as I think I just got lucky with my cashier selection yesterday... Also the CC near me seems to be pretty much tapped when it comes to GC games (I own most of the better ones).

Sooo if anyone has a CC that they know is doing the deal and has an abundance of copies of Animal Crossing or Need for Speed Underground (possibly SMB2 as well if one of the other 2 is missng) for the cube and feels like being nice enough to pick them up for me, it would be very much appreciated ;)

It works in minneapolis at the Ridgedale store. There were at least three other people in there buying games all from different registers so who knows how long it will last. The manager helped me and looked at the till funny but rang it up after I asked if they were 5$ each.

I think the fact that Everything or Nothing and Prince of Persia were stilll marked at 39 and 49 is what confused him the most.

I spent no more than about $40. I was shocked when I came into this CC though. Because there was no one around but me and the employees didn't know what was going on until he rung up my transaction. There were sooooooo many GH, PH, and PC games after I left. I only got the ones I wanted and left for others in my area. The manager was called, but he was like "meh, it's not his fault, we'll just price adjust them later".

So i'd get them asap.

The main rule of thumb is that the games MUST be 19.99 and be bought in multiples of 2. I had a game for 19.96 and it didn't work. Good luck to everyone.

This is heavily YLMV (your luck may vary) . . . its up to whether or not the clerk realizes its an error decides to do anything about it . . . whether or not the manager has informed the clerks about the problem.

Last summer's $5 sale is probably helping . . . clerks have seen these prices before.

I recommend just grabbing 2 games and if you can get it to work do a few more pairs. If they see you with 20 games, an "alarm" may ring in their heads.

Just got back from the brand new Elk Grove, California store and the deal is still in effect. They don't have the biggest selection, but for $4.99 each, how can you complain?
The cashier even double checked the price and made a comment that the games were really cheap. Clearly, no manager has advised them of the correct pricing.

I just got back from circuit city as of 1:46 ET. The games are still ringing up 5.00, however everybody was informed the price was wrong. Because when I went to the register, the old man that i choose said "2 for 30" so i told him that I just needed to check. After the total, he called the manager over because they were all doing that. The manager was running all around the store. He was really ticked off. and I heard him say this.

"somebody in virgina is going to loose their job over this." "they did this to us all last summer" :lol: so I ended up getting stuck with a few 15 dollar titles, which ill just return on my next way through there.

BTW Onimusha 3 is 12.00 there.

I went to the CC in Colma CA last night, and got four games at $5. I put four games in my basket quickly, and was searching for more, when I heard a big commotion at one of the registers. The manager was saying, "We have to give them at the sales price, so void the transaction and rering the games." Some dude had a stack of like 30 games, and there was a crowd of people and employees around him.

I quickly took my basket to another register, got rung up for $20 + tax, and ran out of there.

I saw a guy with a ton of Xbox PH titles go to two different registers before putting his stash of games back on the shelf, so I thought it was a no go. I tried it anyway with 2 games and it worked out fine. Maybe the other guy just had too many. Got Ratchet and Clank: GC and Jak II. I wanted Sly Cooper and RC1, but I couldn't find them. Should've asked if they were supposed to be in stock.

No. There would be a legal issue if they were marked or advertised at the low price and they tried to charge you more, but even then I think it varies state to state.

Just went to the CC in Conshohocken and the deal was on...I started with just 2 games to test it, they rung up at $20 a piece, I was like well there is a 2 for $35 deal, then I said actually I think it was 2 for $10...He then hit some button for the package 1 and it rang up at $10 for both...I was like sweet, you mind if I go back and get a couple more, he was extremely cool about it...I went back and ended getting 24 more games...I looked directly for him, he came over to help me out, he was getting lots of looks from co-workers, they seemed to be clueless about it...So if you are in the area, I would try that location, as the Valley Forge one seems to be a no go...They're selection was decent, not a lot of sports titles, but I can't complain for the price I got em' at, that's 26 games for $130

I am down to trade with anybody, was looking for PRGR2, Rallisport 2, NHL 2k5, World Championship Poker, and MVP Baseball, but they didn't have them...I'll trade a Guilty Gear for them, email me and let me know if you're interested

So, I was ok, and I took a few games to the register and when he done ringing and going to hit total, they call out his name over the intercom and have him dial some number. When he begings to dial, a manager come running out the office and puts him to the side and tells him that they have to manually input the prices. :x . So then he tells me that he is sorry about that, I was o'well, I came here just to get the spiderman 2 dvd for a gift, but I gave it a chance.

If any can be kind enough to get me a mario golf, Zelda windwalker, and midway treasures 2 I would really appreciated. Thank you.

I work at CircuitCity in the videogames department. The "deal" was in fact true (someone who visits this forum came into my work and told me.) It covered ALL games for $19.99, not just PH or GH games. ANY GAME for $19.99 had the glitch. The problem was with the DPS system, so only the store managers can override it and price adjust to $15. I bought about 25 games (some for friends) for $5 each, but my manager told me to quit after about the 10th customer. I'm sure corporate HQ knows about this now, and they have most likely fixed the input into the system. I know I haven't posted here much, but that is what happened. You see, the deal was SUPPOSED to be all GH and PH games were 2/$30, but someone messed up at corporate and made it 2/$10, and thus they were $5 each.

All games came up as the right price, no notes or anything) so i come up to this very nice older clerk and everythign was going fine till she noticed that something was flashing at the bottom of the screen. And that was the end of it for me basically. It was a notice sent to all terminals saying that the price needed to be fixed manualy. Note: she already got all four games rung up and i could have been on my way. Hell she told me the total too and just as i hand over some money she pull this s!it on me?!?!?!?! none the less i demanded to talk to a manager and i recorded my conversation with the manager and after telling him of the women ahead of me, he said no go, sorry blah blah. BUT THE LADY already told me the fucking price. Quick to fix that she delted the transaction before the manager got to her terminal. I even asked people behind me in line if they heard her say what the price was.

yeah, you just need to get lucky, and the cashier is key, try a couple games first, if it's a go make sure to ask that very same cashier if you can go back and get some more, get your games and bring them to the same cashier and see if it works, it's in the system, so all they have to do is scan it and hit the promo button, it helps to have the add there from their circular for the 2 for $35 deal, cus' when they input the code for that it will come up $10 and then you will be good to go...Good Luck everyone...

Thanks to Nephets for confirming that this does work on GBA games as well. I suspected it would, but I was really only after the four games that I picked up so I didn't try it. The only way this could be better would be if it was another $5 clearance sale instead of a glitch.

Yeah, the problem with the CC here is it's a small town, so the only register open during the day is the customer service desk, at which a mangaer is always right next to the cashier, so there is only one register to go to, right next to a manager. She knew instantly when I brought them up and even told me The Suffering which is not a PH didn't qualify for the 2 for $30 deal. It's cool though, I wasn't even going to try as I have enough games, but I just couldn't resist in case it might have worked.

Yes, they can do this. I've seen them do it, first hand.

CC, after the $5 sale in July, really cracked down on their reps buying stuff on store hours. Even worse for putting stuff off the floor so they can buy it when they're not on the clock.

They could also write him up for it, as well, from what a couple CC reps in my neck of the woods have told me.

I went to check out Circuit City for this sweet deal around 1 PM today. Picked up Castlevania LOI and Sly Cooper GH to make sure I would get them for $5 each. Cashier rung them up, both $5 each and he didn't notice anything about the price!

Decided to go back and look for 2 more games to get, found Soul Calibur 2 Non PC for Gamecube and Gran Turismo 3 GH, went to the same cashier. This time he got a little confused about the price and tried to manually adjust it to the advertised price. People behind me were getting impatient at him and eventually he let me get them for $5 a piece too!

Saw the post late, 8:40pm and got to my local CC at 8:50... browsed for 10 minutes and out by 9:02pm.

I asked a CSR if the 'unadvertised special' on these games was still going on, and he said that it was actually a pricing error... but not to worry because even the store manager bought a bunch.

The selection at the closest CC wasn't that great but I did pick up Midnight Club II and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit II for $5 a piece for the Xbox. They will entertain me a while, then likely be traded into gamestop for 3-4 bucks each

Glad I moved to Salem (OR) two months ago (cleaned out the Springfield store during the $5 sale last summer) Just got back from the Salem store with 16 games...newb behind the counter took forever to ring up the games, kept making mistakes, but I was very patient and helped her figure things out, didn't want her calling the manager..I got a little nervous when she rang a game in twice and couldn't figure out how to delete it, I told her I would just get a second copy :D

Just a note for those in Eugene Oregon, the CC here knows about the error and manually fixed the price when I went to ring up, so the deal is dead at the Springfield Mall location.

Glad I moved to Salem (OR) two months ago (cleaned out the Springfield store during the $5 sale last summer) Just got back from the Salem store with 16 games...newb behind the counter took forever to ring up the games, kept making mistakes, but I was very patient and helped her figure things out, didn't want her calling the manager..I got a little nervous when she rang a game in twice and couldn't figure out how to delete it, I told her I would just get a second copy :D

Ha, you should thank me then. I was in the Springfield store the first instant the old $5.00 sale broke last summer and I only got one of each that I wanted, I left all kinds of goodness for everyone else like RE:CVX and Kung Fu Chaos and so on. When I was in there the first time, no one knew about the sale and I was amazing the cashiers with the prices and the shelves were stocked with almost every game from the list. I went back in a couple days later just for fun to see what was left and the shelves were empty.

Not sure about those locations, but your best bet would probably be the West Broad location (not too far from Sawmill). They have multiple registers back by the video games, and I've always had good luck there.

Still a go as of 3pm in Atlanta at the Buckhead location. There is an 'older' gentleman working at the only register that was open, and he was really cool. Didn't give me any shit, asked no questions, gave me 6 games for $30+tax.
They had a good selection still, too!!

Just got 20 more at lunch at the Almaden Ex store, right off 85 in San Jose, CA!!! That makes 30 different titles total for me! The kids got PS2 last Xmas and only have about 8 games so far. Now they have a TON and I have some also! :-)
There were a couple other people BUYING TONS like I was, but no huge crowd.
The checkout guy was laughing the whole time, saying 'someone at corporate is gonna be in trouble for this mess up' and 'I HAVE to get me some of these when my breaktime comes' He told me they only get a 10% discount, so he never usually buys games from his own store. If they treated their employees better, instead of MAKING $$$ off them too, they might care a little more about losses from deals like this. His attitude was 'sock-it-to-em!' Stupid corporation! HEHEHE
When I first got there, managers were right there in the dept, filling in the new shift. I listened in and all they talked about was how to answer phone calls for the new PS2 units that they are out of stock on. Then the managers all went away and I swooped in.

Woodland Hills, California - the deal is off. The manager saw one guy take a huge stack up, and he instructed all cashiers not to use the package 2 key anymore that day (until the database was updated). Just got shot down at the Culver City, CA CC. I kind of knew when the cashier was hitting so many buttons and swiped a card. I didn't know what to say so I just said "oh I thought they were cheaper, thanks anyways," and walked out.

Looked like somebody else had been shot down too, because I saw a stack of games that were part of the deal dumped back on a shelf before I went to the counter.

My CC said no-go. The games are still ringing up for 2/$10, but an email went out from corporate this morning telling all the stores that it's a mistake. They actually showed me the message and it said that their "publisher" messed up, that they can't update the system until tonight, and in the meantime, they are supposed to do manual overrides to force it to the 2/$30 price.

The also told me that several employees got in on the deal yesterday when they saw what was happening, which was why their selection was so lame. But the manager said the employees are going to have to return anything they bought or pay the full price. That may be just enough incentive for those employees to go work at Best Buy.
