Has anyone in Rockville, MD tried it?
I'm about to head over there but I'm expecting that the deal is dead.

They never allowed it at the local CC. I was only trying to get four games I wanted. Damn...

At 12-noon PST, 12/13/04: They're on to us at the Crossroads Mall in Bellevue WA. I overheard the manager who was walking around asking all employees if they got the email about the price error. The database was also updated to reflect different pricing.

bleh forget that then :?

Shoot man,
No deal in San Bernardino, Ca. The lady there said they had been instructed to do all those kinds of sale manually. To the guy who posted about this area yesterday, is the deal still good at the Moreno Valley Store? Thanks

Looks like deal is dead at most stores anyone else having luck. I was gonna go back and get more later today but looks like not work it.

I got 4 games I am happy. :)

I was going to make a return trip as well, but I got 6 games, which is 6 more than most people got.

Went to the Circuit Cities in Arundel Mills and Catonsville, MD. Both did indeed ring up as $5, but the cashiers were under instructions not to honor it. Anyone have luck in MD?

There are defnitely some games that I wanted, but I just didn't think that this was worth the effort or the likelihood that I would have to return the games. Anyhow, when it comes to deals...there are some deals that you feel as you must have and other that you'd like but just don't want. I guess what I'm trying to ramble about is...don't be bitter about this deal. If you got in, great....if you hesitated, like it seems that many had, no worries. These are all older games, though good games, that if you haven't played yet...are worth waiting awhile longer when it is less than $19.99 (or $15) general selling price everywhere. The next generation is closer than we all realize, and there are going to be many, many more clearances to come.

anyone try the CC in Corpus Christi?

I'm planning on heading over there in a bit. I hope its not cleaned out yet. LOL

I remember the CC 4.99 right after I got my second stash these two FATWALLET people took everything. Bums lol

Anyways Im heading out there in about an hour.

Yeah, those damn FWers, not letting you get a third "stash".

lol well my first stash was for my little neice (shes 3 and she loves her gamecube games) Thanks to all those who helped in finding kid games for her ;) . The second was myself but it was about 4 games (RECV, Mario Party 4, Disagea, and two others I forgot already lol) The FWers got about 3 baskets and filled them up. They mustve had 70 games in there. I felt bad for them because they werent going to get anything in there. Seemed like ebay resellers told me they were from FW.

You know, I'm wondering if the District/Area Manager for the Alabama CC's is a complete asshole. All of the CC's in Alabama are really anal retentive about any kind or price matching, clearance sales, etc. Getting a price match @ CC here is a damned near impossibility.

A friend and I went to CC this morning to hopefully take advantage of this deal in Fort Worth, TX. No luck. They scanned the games and then looked at each other for a second and then went to talk to a manager. One of my friends games rung up at $0. We asked them how much they would be, but they were like they are 2 for 30 like our ad says; we just have to override the price. So we just said "oh thought they were cheaper" and walked out.

Congrats to everyone who got in on the deal.

I was just giving you a hard time, glad you seemed to take it in the joking spirit in which it was intended. Yeah, I've been reading the FW thread on this deal, trying to keep people from cleaning out the stores and pulling the Walmart scam, but my comments are falling on mostly deaf ears.

Edit: Actually, that was a bit harsh of me. Many FWers are posting that they only got 4 or 6 games, but the ones getting 30 and planning to scam are pretty vocal.

Good question. The only CAG's I know of in Montgomery are non-posting hoarders. I saw two at the local BB at that clearance with 2 baskets full of games, clearing everything off of the shelf. I'm not going to get into the normative argument of if that's right or wrong.. but if you are going to take advantage of the site, give back a little at least.

Yeah, now it's time to head back and grab some more. I only have enough money for 4 more, so I'll make it count. Too bad a lot of my games are GH's or PC's now, but I'll find some. I just hate how they're so unorganized in their game section, I believe that's a coast-to-coast thing though.

Just got back from my local CC here in Marietta,GA and got 6 PS2 games for $4.99 each. They are:

Ace Combat 04
FFX
Xenosga Ep 1
Ratchet & Clank Going Commando

*** All 4 of the games mentioned above were in PS2 Greatest Hits boxes and priced at $19.99

I also picked up:

SOCOM II - sticker price was $49.99 - regular looking PS2 box
FFX-2 - sticker price was $29.99 - regular looking PS2 box

I tried to get several of the GameCube Players Choice games like:

Super Smash Bros Melee
Super Mario Sunshine

but they would not ring up at the $4.99 price.

It turned out to be the best Monday I ever had buying multiple games.

Thank You Original Poster - you definately scored some major points on that call.

Yeah LOL I was lurking around there earlier. The thread has almost 20, with numberous posts that say they bought 20 ect. Its all cool to buy 20 games if your going to play them.

If your going to sell them I hope someone explains to them what GH means lol.

No luck where I live. I asked the clerk and she said the employees got caught buying games themselves for Christmas presents and now that manager has to adjust the price so they are $14.99 each. Damn I found about 10 games with the original packaging (I hate the greatest hits covers) that I wanted, but no go. :(

ALERT!!! I scored a few games at the Mesquite TX CC today!! So as of 1:30 PM it is still good there!

I got SOCOM 2, Rise to Honor, Mario Golf, and Sly. I wanted more but didn't want to look suspecious and get nothing. Might try back later today or tomorrow if still good.

THe deal didn't work on Scaler, Sonic Collection, High Roller Casino, or ESPN COllege hoops 2k5.

I saw that copy of Scaler, I never saw it anywhere else but at CC.

Either way, I thought the deal there would have been dead by now (I went around 11ish), whenever I went there with my cousin the cashier he was with rung them up full price (manually), my cashier let me have them for 4.99.

I went to the one on Eastern and Tropicana. It seemed like I was the only one that knew about the deal (I was the only person in the store). They had pretty much every Xbox title that I was looking for. The only GC games that caught my eye were Animal Crossing and Mario Golf. I was browsing the PS2 section and it seemed like thay had a good selction there too.

This was around 11 PM though.

And the people with stacks of 30 bring the whole thing to a quick end . . .

Deal is dead at the Racine, WI store.

I got 8 games last night (knew I had to go at 8 pm!). I did it with 4 and then 4 more games.

When people grab big stacks . . . it can't last long.

There aren't many of these games that I want anyway . . . I searched today and could only come up with Midway Arcade Treasures 2 and Finding Nemo (xmas gift). The deal rang up again, but the clerk started to manually adjust the games . . . so I asked and she said they had to fix the glitch.

I bailed . . . too bad . . .

I got last night (none of the Xbox were PH!):
Mario Golf (Players Choice)
Animal Crossing (Players Choice)
Project Gotham Racing 2
Crimson Skies
Socom II (GH sticker only!)
OO7 Everything or Nothing
Top Spin
Rising Sun (not a great deal but I needed an extra)

False, its go at this store. I just did it 10mins ago! Got 6 cube games for $30

I hit up the CC in GlenBurnie for 4 games, but that was as soon as they opened. Very tempted to get more but I didnt want to raise any flags and kill the deal for anyone else (including my own friends & family:D).

The two CSRs at the counter seemed very disgruntled so they probably knew and didnt give a flying F--k.

BTW, I was gonna try the CC at Arundel Mills, but I've always had bad luck with deals(even "legit" ones) and pricematches at the bigger, newer branches of brick & mortar chains.

I went back again at 11:30 am but the same clerk told me that it was a price mistake and he had to call the manager to manually overwrite the price to $14.99 per game. So, did everybody get all that they wanted from the sale? Since really, it's basically over for a lot of places (places here are locking down on it).

I saw a copy of GTA: VC I regret not picking up: Drakengard, and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 as well. I would have picked those up but I decided against it to leave it for others to choose.

I also wanted to get Sonic Adventure DX, but it was 14.99 in the register, not 4.99, so I put it back.

The Mesquite CC had a pretty weak GCN section, PS2's was decent, but I really wanted ATV Offroad Fury 1, I love the sequel and got it there, but the first one just brings back more memories of playing it with my friends, so, it has a bit of nostalgia value on it. I know it's like 6 dollars PO, but still, I wouldn't mind paying 5 dollars for a new copy.

You should be like, "Just go ahead and ring it up as $19.99. I'm feeling rich tonight." :)

But thank you Trakan and hiccupleftovers for the clarification on Drakengard.

It's on at the Matteson, IL CC.

I got:

Mario Golf
Animal Crossing
Lord of the Rings:Two Towers
Medal of Honor: Frontline

There was a tense moment when the cashier rung me up and stared at the screen like "This can't be right." She asked a co-worker who said "I know some have been ringing up for less. Just go ahead." *whew!*

Thanks OP!

The Tempe/Mesa CC on Southern near the Fiesta Mall was still doing it with no sign of hostility towards the "glitch." I picked up BG:DA and NBA Street 2 to test it and I'm going to head back to get a couple more.

Glad to see that he who broke the original CC $5 sale gets in on this one as well.

Yeah, now it's time to head back and grab some more. I only have enough money for 4 more, so I'll make it count. Too bad a lot of my games are GH's or PC's now, but I'll find some. I just hate how they're so unorganized in their game section, I believe that's a coast-to-coast thing though.

The deal's over at this CC, too. I brought up MG:TT, COI, Rise to Honor, and some other game. The guy was nice enough to make all of them 2 for $30, even though only two qualified. They all came up $19.99 except for RtH, and he overrode them to $14.99 each, but I didn't have the money. I just told him I thought they'd be cheaper and didn't have the money and thank him anyway.

I'm not mad since I did get the other two even when I thought it wouldn't go through. It did give me a reason to get some gas since it has dropped $.17 since I last filled up before Thanksgiving. I do wish I would've grabbed another game or two to try, but I'm thankful that I got what I did since I have enough games to play anyway. Congrats to those of you that could do it twice.

Drakengard is $19.96 -- it wouldn't have worked anyway.

Edit: beaten by quite a few people. Maybe I should present this to my boss as evidence that I actually was working for a few minutes? Probably not.

Every time I come back to this thread it seems as though it explodes with another 10 pages.

Yep. It's almost moving as fast as the first 4.99 CC thread.

Just this deal isn't nearly as good. Any PH/GH/PC title that I coulda thought of I couldnt find, with the exception of Mario Golf and Crimson Skies, both of which I had wanted for a while.

Hey man, which CC did you go to?

I have family in Ft. Worth and am down there about every other weekend. I usually go shopping around the Hulen and Ridgmar area to find most my deals when I'm down there.

This deal is rad.

Picked up 4 the first time:

GC- Mario Golf, Luigi's Mansion, Super Monkey Ball
PS2: Ratchet and Clank 2

And 4 More 5 minutes later:

PS2: Lord of The Rings 2, and 3 that weren't greatest hits!! (Castlevania, Midway Treasures 2, and ESPN NBA 2K5).

The clerks just said what a gerat deal it was. Amazing!

it is true i work for cc and yesterday and part of today all and i mean all (ie epsn titles included) 19.99 titles for consoles only were ringing up at 4.99 each. but like it was said in a prevous post it had to be an even number of games. but now they fixed the price and will not sale em for 4.99 a piece and the the package which is listed number two on the screen will ring em up at the correct price by tomorrow when cc opens

so for any columbus ohio CAG's, the one on sawmill rd is golden. no one cares, at first they were ringing up my games and they said that it was the 2 for 30 promo but then the clerk said my total and it was only 31 so i hit the jackpot. I am going to check easton but i doubt that one is still active. also both golden sun and advance wars 2 are ringing up as 4.99 at least here in columbus. enjoy it while it lasts

Well, I got back from my Circuit City a few hours ago. I wanted Jak II and Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando so badly. They didn't even have Jak II in stock, so I picked up a copy of Vice City instead. Unfortunately, like wubb mentioned a couple of dozen pages back, the Fairfax VA location is very much on top of things. The cashier manually adjusted the price from $5 to $15. Sad for me, but I can't really complain, since it'll take me forever just to open the unplayed games in my collection, much less play them.

Congrats to any CAG who managed to score a few cheap games from this glitch! And remember to thank the OP!

Agent Nipsey reporting from the GA location (Duluth)

Mine is an interesting tale...

I get there, no PH/PC titles worth the trouble of buying...I ended up finding:

Jak II
WWE Smackdown: HCTP
Splinter Cell
Hot Shots Golf 3
THUG
Sly Cooper 1

I get to the register and play it cool, hoping it still would work... the cashier misentered something and Jak II rang up full price, the other 5 rang at $4.99. So I said take out Jak II. She had to restart the entire purchase again and they all rang at $5 and I said see if Jak II would do it, and it did. She then says $21, but looks amt the screen and then at me. I say I was here last night so it's cool. The doorman (there last night) vouched for me as I said hello. She then proceeds to take my credit card and ID and rings me up. I leave the store and realize something. The reciept shows only FOUR of the games, and not the SIX that I bought (the other two showed up as PROMO - no charge), but they were all in the bag. So, at least for me, I scored 6 for $20.

Wait, it gets worse. My CD that I bought last night would not play, so I went back to exchange the music CD. The same cashier sees me and says she hopes I'm not going to buy anymore games because they were aware now. She says SOMEONE came in right after me and attempted to buy FIFTY GH/PC/PH... FIVE-ZERO... As soon as the total was $250 instead of the $750, she knew something had to be wrong. The guy said 'hey, it's supposed to work, it's a glitch; that's what everyone on *WAIT FOR IT* FatWallet says. You just ring any 2 of those titles and it's 2 for $10.' Talk about not knowing when to shut the fuck up... but that's him and I'm me and I still have my 6, so thanks CC!!!

In short:
PC/PH/GH regularly priced at $19.99 (there are some higher or lower so they won't work)
Certain PS2/Xbox/GC videogames priced at 19.99

Basically if the regular retail price of said item is $19.99 and you buy them in pairs of 2, it SHOULD work... but the crackdown is acomin... some stopped Sunday, some today (my store), some might tomorrow... some might just let it go as a pricing error and honor ir all week... usually when Target misprices or prints something not yet out, they have a huge sign near the door stating the ad's error... CC's are basically doing as necessary, either to let the holiday traffic do as they please or shut it down before SOME folks go apeshit and try to buy the whole store.

The glitch, more or less, isn't doing the 2 for $30 on $19.99 Hits-esque games. It's taking $15 off per title that happens to be $19.99, Hits type title or not, as long as you have an even number to buy.

I would say that the game is over at the Northpoint store in Alpharetta, GA. I got 8 games at lunch without trouble, but tonight, there was discussion among cashiers when I was ringing up.

Strange happening, too. I had Splinter Cell and Crimson Skies for a friend, and PGRacing2 for another buddy, and Mario Golf for me.

Skies and Cell rang up at $5, but the other two rang up AS THE SALE SHOULD WORK. $15 each. At this point, a guy was attempting to get the girl to override the whole transaction, but I kinda raised an eyebrow, and he waved it off and let me get my 2 cheapies, so I walked with the 4 for $42. I think I'll be returning both of them, but I didn't want to rock the boat at that point.

Anyway, I was totally thrown off by this. Anyone else had any actually ring up at $15 each?

As per my story, the computer will flash a screen that says something about 'key in amount of PC/PH/GH'. If they say 2, then it will drop the games down to $4.99 each. If they enter just 1, it rings full price. I'm guessing some titles just wouldn't slip through.

Got lucky at the Flint store this afternoon. Took Project Gotham 2 and Crimson Skies to the register to see what would happen. Both rung up at $5 each. So I went back and got a bunch more:

Atari Anthology (PS2 and XB)
Crash 'N Burn (PS2)
Psi-Ops (PS2)
Second Sight (PS2)
Return of the King (GC)
Outlaw Golf 2 (PS2)
Amped 2 (XB)

...among a couple others. They seemed a little picked over. The cashier was cool. She said she planned on getting in on it later in the day. Only disappointment was no Nicktoons Movin' and I would have preferred Crash 'N Burn for XBox, but for $5 I'm not complaining. Thanks OP. Let those who dissed you die in horrible agony! As of 8:30PM Union, NJ CC is still a go! Grabbed Manhunt, and FFX2 (Both non-GH covers) for $10. I ran into a some parents buying games for their kids. A guy said he came back after seeing the games ring up for $5, so I helped him find some that would be cool for his son. One woman was buying games for a foster kid center, and when she heard from the other guy, she bought about a dozen. Apparently some cashiers their knew and did not care (One was kind of encouraging it), the one I went to did the  "this can't be right, but shaq-fu it all if I care". So NBA 2K5, Midway 2, FFX2, and Manhunt 4 for the price of 1!! Vive La CAG! \:D/

Mixed success at Vestal (Binghamton), NY.

I tried it once with Midway Arcade Treasures 2 and Atari Anthology. They both rang up 5.00, so I went back for 6 more that I wanted. Then when that worked I got greedy... I went back for about a dozen more. I tried to get gifts for people, and a few other games I wanted to round out my collection. In my haste I picked up a Max Payne 2 (19.96), and I'm not sure if it was just that or what, but they all rang up 15.00 except NFL Street (PS2) and Manhunt (PS2), which both rang up 5.00. I walked right over and returned the 10-12 other games, and decided to cut my losses. I got 10 games that I really wanted for 50 bucks, so I'm happy.

Thanks OP!

Yeah, I went last night at around 6:30 PM and they already caught the error and price adjusted it. Also, if it didn't have a PH, GH, or PC label they wouldn't even hit the button to apply the promotion so I couldn't get Project Gotham 2 and Everything or Nothing because they didn't have the special labels. Hey did you notice that the selection of titles is pretty poor at the Fairfax Circuit City? Anyway, since you and wub are in the area let me know if you have any titles for trading.

You paid $4.99, don't return them pretending that you paid $19.99. That is low. You can probably trade on here for what you want.

We need a new term in our language . . . YLMV . . . Your Luck May Vary . . . this glitch would be a perfect example.

In the afternoon, I got shut out (it worked last night) then someone says they did it successfully at the same store 3 hours later.

The key factor right now (until they fix the computer) is your luck at the register.

What do you think YMMV means?

YMMV to me is more about selection. You may have to drive to find what you are looking for.

YLMV reflects the fickle finger of fate . . . one clerk pushes the button another calls the manager . . . simple luck.

Hmm, I read about this yesterday when nobody believed the guy. I decided to pass when I read it was actually working. I've still got games from CC's last $5 sale that I've barely touched. There are only a couple $20 titles that even interest me that I don't already have and they aren't titles I think I have to have. But I have to say, it's so hard sitting here reading about the deals some of you guys are getting. It makes me want to go out and grab a couple just to say I was a part of it.

Sometimes I wonder if I get more of a rush landing a cheap deal than I do actually playing these games.

My trip to CC was OK. I was only able to pick up 2 copies of 007: Agent Under Fire (1 for me and 1 for my friend). There were tons of games and the employees were clueless (Durham NC). I only had 5 min becasue i was on my way to tennis and was already late, so I just grabbed those games and hurried out the door. Best part was my conversation with the cashier.

Her: "I bet you thought these were gonna be $30 right?"
Me: "Nope, I knew they would be $10"
Her: "How?"
Me: "The internet, cheapassgamer.com"
Her (sounding like she has no clue): "The internet...what?"

And I leave out the door to return tomorrow hoping that she will be working again..

Not that many of us, that's why most of the deals are good for days after the sale starts.

I saw another guy there as I looked around thinking if there was anything else to buy. He was buying two GH games, most likely to test the water. I tried to give him a thumbs up, but didn't want to look suspicious. His eyes were wide watching it being rang up.

The only competition I've really had was this damn eBaying-FW'er at the Toys R Us sale earlier this year. Damn dude had a frigging shopping cart full and only the bones were left at 9:15 when I strolled in.

I went today (San Francisco) during my lunch break and got Jak II and Sly Cooper. Would've picked up a couple more, but selection was weak - mostly ATV's, sports games, and a bunch of Rise to Honor.

Great deal, but just like a lot of people here I've got more games to play than time. I probably won't even get to play the games I picked up until summer.

Thanks to the OP.

Now that I know this was a mistake made by someone at corporate, I can't help but feel like I took advantage of a business. I for one am someone who will correct a cashier when I know they've made a mistake. If they give me $15 back when they should've given me $5, I make things right then and there. (I can't exactly do that with the games I now have sitting in my home (two of which I've opened up).

This situation is a little different, though (different than a cashier handing me extra cash). The fact that I have a reciept makes this a legitimate transaction, because it says that their price is $4.99 for each game, and that is what I agreed to pay. The reciept is a statement from their company that they are totally o.k. with the game going out of their store at that price.

If Circuit City falls on hard times in the next few months, it's certainly not my fault for buying games at a loss price. It's the fault of the company for not having procedures put into place to prevent mixups in their nationwide store-computer system when some goofball doesn't spend enough time double-checking his/her work. Shouldn't they have at least two or three people cross-referencing their database pricing? I would think that'd be wise.

There, I'm feeling a little better now. Thanks for letting me vent.

My first haul I picked up NBA 2k5, NFL 2k5, Guilty Gear and KOTOR.

Then I just went around 9:30 p.m. and picked up another copy of NBA 2k5 for a friend and Crimson Skies for my wife as a stocking stuffer.

Well I went to one CC out here and at first the lady saw them come up at 4.99 and she seemed like she was about to give them to me but then she seemed as though she remembered something and said she had to take to customer service since her computer just then brokedown. I came with her and they tried to adjust the price. i calmly said no thank you and left the store. They said that earlier in the day they were allowing it but then they got an e-mail stating to not allow it anymore. They had a really good selection of PC/PH/Gh games. It seemed that hardly anyone came there and especially the ebayer and hoarders. Oh well, I'll just pick up the games that I really wanted at a later date eventually. Maybe tomorrow I'll try another place. Just if anyone cares, I tried Mr Peanut's CC today.

Green-Bull
12-14-2004, 12:48 AM
Today around 5:00 PM I was at CC looking. Some time later the nice lady (that was there last year around the holidays when games were $15.00) came around the corner and asked me if I'd found any deals. I asked her if the store was doing the $5 deal, which was really a glitch? She said how'd I know about that!?

I said the internet & cheapassgamer, much like I did last year. :) She said someone had came in earlier and did it. And then I said something like, well, are you still letting people do it. She said yes. When I was ready to checkout she directed me to this new girl (who was a Hottie I might add). Then I got the deal.

I got all, but 1 of the Xbox games I wanted. Even though I don't have an Xbox, I was planning to get one with my GameRush credit sometime soon. They didn't have Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams though. I went in hoping they'd have Wolfenstein, Rallisport Challenge 2, Project Gotham 2 and SH2:RD.

What I got for Xbox -
Wolfenstein
Rallisport Challenge 2
Project Gotham Racing 2
Midtown Madness 3
Agent Under Fire
NBA Street 2

Funny thing is, I was telling this other customer (who was a lady) about how she should price check the games. Later on, when I was checking out, she was right behind me (wouldn't you know it). So when all these games were ringing up at $4.99, I told the ol' tramp :) (you'll see why I call her that in a minute) that there was a glitch were if you buy the $19.99 GH games it rings up at that price. I don't know if she heard me though. I don't really know what she had in her hands, but I recall a sports game, maybe baseball, with the player wearing clothing with some red on it. Don't know if that was a GH's or not.

Anyway, later on around 9:00 PM I went back to pick up a copy of Namco Museum (I think that's the name) and another game. When I got to the check out I asked if the $14.99 Namco game would be reduced to $5 even though it wasn't $19.99. The hottie that'd checked me out earlier said I couldn't do that no more. Why you ask? Because the woman that was behind me at the checkout counter earlier in the day had a hissy fit because hers rang up more than mine did. I'd have paid money to see that! :)

See, that's what you get for trying to be nice and help someone get a decent deal. Now I wish I'd kept my mouth shut and not went out so soon after buying the games. I would've liked to see what the crap went on and what she said. Although if I'd stuck around, they might've made me return my games. But I'm satisfied with what I got. I wasn't planning on getting but like 2 other games maybe (KillSwitch or Tenchu).

This isn't going to hurt CC all that much or make them fall on "hard times". It lasted only 2 days, those who purchased the games were small in #, and CC reacted swiftly enough for it to be stopped before too much harm was done. The games would have been clearanced in a year or so anyways when the new systems start launching, and most of the consumers in the gaming market are more interested in newer titles anyways.

The Fatwallet asshats weren't alarmed soon enough and in great enough numbers to really deal the blow that they can deal, so that was curbed. As a percentage of loss in sales, in real terms.. this is a very small loss. As demand for the Greatest Hits continues to sink as they age (and newer GH hit that price point), they'll end up just taking up valuable shelf space/wherehouse space anyways.

Also, this will have a minimal effect on any future clearances in the near future. The $5 clearance is on games with even lower demand, below that of Greatest Hits.

So now that I've said my opinion on the matter... and hopefully reassured a few people.. open up your games and play em with no worries. With as many games flooding the market in comparison to the amount purchased, you'll be seeing another $5 dollar clearance in the near future (I'd say around March or April).

This thread got about 600 replies today, way too many to read.

In general how did it go today? Did people get the games, or did most stores refuse to sell them at 4.99? I didn't have time to go myself.

From reading the last page, the error was not fixed last night. It's bad enough the mistake was made I can't believe they didn't fix it at the first oppurtunity.

Maybe this was only designed to look like a glitch, when in reality it was planned to last for a short period of time. Why would they intentionally do this? To instill just a hint of guilt in the minds of people who came into their stores and bought all the games for such amazing prices. It's probably their plan to see their share value decrease a little over the next month or two (and make it well known), and then know that people who "stole" the games will be a bit more loyal to shopping at CC (thanks to that subtle guilt feeling that's gnawing in the back of their minds) when they are looking to buy one of those big screen HDTV's. . . In the end CC will have taken command of our minds in such a subtle way, that we won't even realize they've manipulated us.

Yikes!

If you haven't read the posts don't bother posting yourself. The deal only seemed to convert $20 games to $5. So SSBM didn't count and neither did the $15 games. Heck, as far as I know, those games SHOULD be eligible for the REAL deal and they weren't from what i tested on Sunday.

i tried a different CC today I told the guy working there the situation and he was cool with it. This particular store still has the old "slide the receipt into this pad and sign, please", and it took a few extra keystrokes for the discount to go in. I picked up R&C:GC and Sly Cooper. Going to try the Mills store AGAIN tomorrow during lunch and find a cool cashier...gotta get that Psi-Ops and Midway Arcade Treasures 2!

Yet another St. Louis CAG. Cool. :D

The Mills had a few copies of Psi-Ops when I left there this evening, so it should be there for you, and a few copies of MAT 2 as well. However, when I went back to pick up the few games I hadn't matched to CAGs who asked me to find items for them, they changed the prices at the register, so you might not have any luck with the Mills store. From my first batch, within 10 minutes, the register was only knocking off $10 off the two games, not the $30.

If the store still had the "slide into the slot and sign" register system, it must be either Ferguson, South County or St. Peters locations.

Neonglow is looking for a copy of Psi-Ops, you may want to talk with him and see if he's still looking for it, if you score an extra one you're willing to send his way. I'm sure he's not the only one.

I have to agree with Nephets on this one, I think the official word to change them back to $14.99 went out via email this afternoon, and I'm sure the price changes have been pushed to the registers by now, or over the evening hours.

Well, it was a wild couple of days, but all good things must come to an end. It's official. The deal is dead tomorrow am. They have seen the error of their ways (Thank you, CC Corp price guy!) and it was scheduled to be fixed in their system tonight after closing. But, after reading all the posts on this and other forums, it would seem that a good amount of people got in under the wire.

My greatest joy in all this is the thought of all the little ones out there on X-mas morning opening all the games that mom and dads didn't think they could afford, but then this happened.

To quote CC, this was "Just what I needed!!"

Merry X-mas again!

Anyhoo, here's my list:
01. Ratchet & Clank
02. Ratchet & Clank 2: (Going Commando, I think?)
03. Sly Cooper & the T.R.
04. Xenosaga Ep. 1

Bone thugs fans, thought I was one of the few left, no one ever talks about them. I managed to get all 14 games I wanted, plus one for a friend (and extra copy of nba 2k5) and some to sell to get my money back. Though the only thing I couldn't find was nhl2k5. Tried 3 stores and couldn't find it. Though strangly, none of the employees I dealt with seemed to have heard about the sale, except burlington ma. They were clueless around 1 p.m., but had stopped it when I went back at 7. You should have seen the guy in front of me the first time, he bought 6 GH games after seeing the 2 for $30 sign (he mentioned the sign and the 2 for 30 price to the cashier when he brought them up), his eyes bugged out when the guy said the total was $31.

Had fun with my friend trying to make our way in the heavy snow, slipping and sliding. The deal was still valid at the CC near Chapel Hill Mall in Ohio till at least 6 when we left there. They only rang up PS2 games though so my friend got nothing out of it and we didn't want to prod as that might have made them check things out more. Apparently we have the most lax manager in the world as they actually came down and changed the price to 4.99 for Baldurs Gate because it was ringing up as 9.99 instead of 19.99 throwing off its pairing with FFX-2. Since my CC got cleaned out during the July sale as soon as they opened that Sunday I'm glad I finally caught one. Thanks!

Managed to grab:
-Final Fantasy X-2
-WWE Here Comes The Pain
-Baldurs Gate
-Tony Hawk Underground
-Castlevania: LoI
and the only GH labeled one of the bunch: Kingdom Hearts
Baldurs Gate is addictive. I had no idea what my friend and I were getting into.

Ok so weird experience last night at the Tallahassee, FL CC. I picked up two Xbox PH games, and brought them up to the register. Ghost Recon was priced at 19.99 and Morrowind was priced at 14.96. At first, Ghost Recon was ringing up at 4.99 but Morrowind wouldn't scan in. So i got sent up to the front desk, where it was the total opposite. Morrowind was ringing up at 14.96 (regular price) but Ghost Recon wouldn't scan. So after 20 minutes of me waiting around for someone to figure out how to do this, or for a manager to show up, I finally left disgusted and frustrated.

I can understand management not wanting to give me $5 games because of a glitch, but i can't stand it when they just plain won't help me, especially when i wasn't pressing for a $5 game, i just wanted to see how low they would ring up. meh... oh well.

The glitch only worked for 19.99 games. And it only prompts the "glitch" if you scan in a 19.99 game first. So they weren't screwing you over.. you just didn't understand the deal.

I also tried to buy morrow wind, but they had marked it down to 9.95, so I couldn't get it as a 4.99 game.

<snip>
Funny thing is, I was telling this other customer (who was a lady) about how she should price check the games.
<snip>

<snip>
The first rule of CAG is do not talk about CAG.
I hope you learned your lesson. :ziplip:

Also, the other poster above you who talked sass back to the cashier and mentioned CAG. I have a quick message for you:

Do not talk about CAG [-X

Now, onto my little story: After hearing about how an e-mail went out yesterday to the staff, I gave up hope on getting on on some CA deals, but since my subway stops right in front of CC in Rego Park, I thought I'd give it a go, especially since I needed a gift for my kids.

Went in, picked up a couple of games: Kirby's Air Ride, Rainbow Six 3, Crimson Skies and SoulCaliburII for the cube and then went to find the kiddies a nice DVD. Then comes the tricky part - finding the right cashier. Luckily right in the DVD section was a clearly overworked slightly dumb looking cashier. On top of that, there was a line, so that a)she would feel bad for making me wait longer if it didn't ring up "right" and b)if she said that she needed a manager, I could just play it cool by saying I didn't have any more time to wait after my wait in line (actually, this was true!). Then comes the setup chit-chat so she would feel more comfortable with me, sympathizing that she was the only cashier in such a busy section.

All that hard work paid off, and I walked out with my 4 games and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang for $30.

My only regret is that I didn't have more time to grab a few more games after it worked for me.

A big thanks to the OP.

I still hold that this deal was more YLMV (your luck may vary) than YMMV. It wasn't store policy necessarily but really just drawing the "right" clerk.

I got in barely on Sun. night I had to "persuade" the clerk to leave it at $5 (got 8 games in two trips which was pushing it) and shot down (just trying to get 2 more) the next afternoon by another clerk who had would not allow the discount. Yet someone got some at $5 later that day at my store! Strange . .

YMMV means that the deal may or may not work for you due to any number of factors. I don't see how YLMV would mean anything different.
