To clarify for all the newcomers:

The deal this week is supposed to be on PH,GH, etc games. (ie. games at the 19.99 price point) If you take two games to a clerk and he uses the sale package in the computer, they will ring up for 5 dollars each, not 15 dollars like they are supposed to. This is apparently a glitch in their system. Some stores will let it go, some will flat out deny you the deal. It is not advertised that way and using the argument that others are doing it will not fly. Try it at your own risk. As of 12-13-04 when the stores opened, it was still ringing up that way in their system.

Seriously, there is this one lady, a manager type, who works the front who is always super cold to me whenever I go in there, she remembers me from the $5 sale last summer and my price checking madness (when I brought like every game in the store up to the front to be price scanned to see if it was on sale). She barely even says hi to me when she rings me up, if I had to tell her to push a specific button to get it cheaper, she'd probably clock me in my face. She scares me.

While I agree that going in with the mindset of screwing CC rather than getting cheap games is a little off, I think people are being a little harsh with the noobs. It is a system error, not a cashier error. Yes, it is an exploit, but it does not require cashier error, it is just in the system for a lower than advertised price.

Why they'd have the games set to 15, and have a package deal set doesn't make sense (maybe they have old stock and want to make sure to cut down on manual overrides).

I work at CC and package number 2 is when we have a promo package options come up before you can even ring the item up. Package 1 is usually just selling the item as is and package 2 is when you are ringing up a promotion. I don't work until tomorrow morning so I can't confirm until then.

I don't post enough to be considered a regular, but I've got a bit of a post count behind me. This deal is legit, but YMMV. I went to CC here in Spfd, MO, and brought up two PS2 greatest hits to the register. At first the guy rang them up without using any sort of coupon button, and they were full price ($20 each). I said I thought they were supposed to be on sale, so he deleted each item, and rang them in again using some sort of coupon button (I didn't tell him to push anything). They both rang up at $5 each. Apparently this had happened before this morning, and they had to get a manager over to price override the games UP to the $15 each they were supposed to be.

So, the deal is legit, but I got screwed in that both cashiers (only 2 cashier stations in the whole store!) knew they were supposed to be $15 each and wouldn't sell them for cheaper. I didn't feel like hassling the manager to honor the $5 each, so I left. I don't need to be spending the money anyway.

Holy crap, my CC is the complete opposite. The workers there will seriously pricematch anything. This is why I become excited when people post online ads stating that games are only $4.99. Heck, my CC even pricematches online ads when it clearly says that the game is sold out.

Go into your local CC and pick up any Players Choice or Greatest hits game and have the tard there ring it up using package #2 (The one for Platinum hits, etc.). They will all ring up for 5$, not $15 like they are supposed to!!

This seems crazy to me too, although I could probably get away with it at my Circuit City. Remember when they mispriced The Sims 2 at $39.99 on launch week? The ad said it also came with a $10 gift card. My Circuit City not only did that, but accidentally used the $10 towards the purchase AND gave me a $10 gift card. They refused to take it back and argued with me when I pointed out their mistake.

I don't like taking advantage of the stupidity of others, but when they're stubborn AND stupid, that's another story. I'll try going there tomorrow to give it a try and confirm if it works at all.

Yeah, that's what I had planned to do. I'm low on money as it is. I don't have the funds to horde games. I was just using $200 as an example. If it did ring up at $5 a piece, I still would probably only get 2 or 4.

I work at CC and package number 2 is when we have a promo package options come up before you can even ring the item up. Package 1 is usually just selling the item as is and package 2 is when you are ringing up a promotion. I don't work until tomorrow morning so I can't confirm until then.

It works... who would've thought. I went and picked up 6 games for $30. Not only did the people at my CC know about it, they were exploiting it too. One of the girls that work at CC came up and even flirted with me and told me that there was a glitch and that the games are ringing up 2 for $10. I acted all surprised and did some recon. The cashier knew it had to be a glitch, but sold it to me anyway as he said "it's not my fault... I just stock the games" with a wink. He speculated it would be fixed by tomorrow morning though... and I think the only reason he put it through for me was because there was no one else around to object.

As others have said earlier in the thread... PLEASE do not got up there with a stack of games and tell the cashier what to do... try to be very subtle and "out of the loop" on this one... this is a glitch, not a sale, being low key and polite will definately help you get in on it, the more overt and greedy you are, the higher your chances of getting shot down become (and ruining the deal for everyone else in your area).

I tried today. My CC had a specific game department and they all knew about it.

Tomorrow I shall try a CC near my university but I would still like to know if this works with non-GH games cuz I want to get MAT1 and Atari Anthology too.

My CC has a game department but they were clueless of the deal. She said wow these are really good prices for the games. The guy on the way out of the store who checked my bag said the same thing. :)

I would expect that since corporate made an error they will correct the prices in their system sometime on Monday.

Guess I won't be able to get in on this deal :cry:.

i havent actually gone to the store yet, but i was just looking in the print ad for the 2 for 30 deal that apparantly is the cause of the glitch.... anyway the fine print at the bottom says there is a limit of 3 games per customer (which is weird since its 2 for 30) but i just wanted to point that out because some people might get the shaft if they try to get over 3 games, but im sure this is YMMV or YMMSA (your manager might suck ass)

The guy who rang up my games was cool. He actually urged me to go get some more games and that they had to give it to me at $5 because it's against the rules to charge the customer more than what the computer says. Haha, rock.

Not as good a deal, but 7.50 each is better then 14.99 each after GGC. The selection was crap though. I only wanted Mario Golf and Sonic Adventure 2 and they didn't have either, but a friend of mine got about 6 games he wanted.

Nest I tried the CC by Florin. I guess they went out of business so that was a wasted trip. I'm too lazy to drive out to elk grove just to save 10$. So I don't know what those stores are doing.

Thanks for the advice but that one's just about as far and it's going to be way crowded by the mall I imagine. I guess I'll just have to pass on this deal. Hopefully others are having goodluck with it

I don't understand how this could not be a glitch. The sunday ad says 2 for $30 meaning $14.99 each. This deal is 2 for $10 or $4.99 each. Kinda intuitively makes sense that it is a numerical error. My guess is this will be dead by Tuesday.

It's definitely a glitch. And this isn't the first time CC has screwed up. I remember when they had an offer where you can get KOTOR for $10 ONLY if you reserve Halo 2. But you could have gotten the game for $10 without reserving at all.

For this deal, the glitch is that it's subtracting $15 instead of making the games $15

What was interesting is that the employee that checked me out today said that they HAVE to sell it to us for $5 because the manager is not allowed to charge the customer more than what the computer checkout says.

Thanks to OP and the Indy CAGs. I got Mario Golf GC and Kingdom Hearts for $10.58 total at the 82nd St. store. No questions, no problems.

One of the employees was having a discussion with a manager when I walked in. That employee and another then proceeded to pick out GH games and take them to the front counter, I assume to pay for at the ends of their shifts.

I'd bet this thing is fixed sooner than later.

Well, I'm glad I gave it a go. It seems I was the only customer at my local Circuit City who knew about the deal. I managed to get 007:Agent Under Fire (PS2), Medal of Honor: Frontline (PS2), Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (GC), and Metroid Prime (GC). A nice cashier seemed to know about the $5 deal and was very happy to see me get those games for such a great price.

I attempted to get Super Smash Bros since it's a Player's Choice title, but it wasn't part of the deal unfortunately.

I just came from the CC in Burbank and everything went well. I got Mario Sunshine and Mario Golf for $10! I was a little bummed though about not being able to get Smash Bros. I coulda sworn it was a $19.99 game but it kept staying at $30 so not luck on that. Great find nonetheless. Thanks OP!
