Cleaning "gunk" off of game cases

I have a couple used games from EBgames.com that still have the trade-in sticker on them. Is there something that will take that sticker and the remaining gunk off of the cases?

Peel the sticker off as carefully as you can...then use "Goo Gone" on a paper towel. Apply sparingly, so you don't cack up something by soaking it - works great.

90% Alcohol will take it off.

Goo Gone should be available at most retail stores....I know Grocery stores carry it too more than likely. So, yes...WalMart should have it.

I use tape, sounds crazy but it works. You put tape on the gunky spot, press down, and peel off. If it doesn't take out all of it, just keep doing it until it does, but the sticker has to be off.

It may not be a very "cheapass" solution comparitively, but I prefer to get new cases for games where the case has been damaged or has gunk on them. (My obsessive compulsive nature won't allow my games to have grimy or damaged cases :P)

You can get standard black dvd cases for movies/PS2 games at Sleeve City for 50 cents each or cheaper if you buy in bulk.....

You can find green cases for Xbox games online too, but you'll have to do a bit more searching to find a site that has them in stock and at a decent price.

I usually use the sticker itself to get the rest of the stuff off..
similar to the tape solution mentioned earlier...

Just peel what you can carefully and use the remaining sticky part on the back of the sticker to collect the rest of it. In combination with tape this usually works best...

I don't like the googone solution because it leaves an oily coating on your games... you can tell someone has used goo gone on it before!!....

If the sticker is really low quality then it won't work... so use tape.

You can get spare cases for free at Block Buster sometimes (or probably most other rental places) Just ask nicely and they may let you grab whatever they have for free. Many BBs just throw them out anyway. I've heard some also sell them in bundles for fairly cheap.

Lighter fluid also works wonders for getting the sticky stuff off. Its what we use for getting rid of the crap left by old pricetags on used books at my campus bookstore.

When trying any of these methods (I use Goo Gone) make sure to remove the game cover from the jacket before you start. That way if you end up making a bit of a mess you do not ruin the game cover as well.

Goo gone works, but I've had great experiences with Zippo lighter fluid. Give that a shot, it's always worked great for me.

After using Goo Gone, I wipe off the surface with a paper towel sprayed with Windex (or any general cleaner like 409). My hopeless game cases look like new thanks to Goo Gone!

Then try WD-40!

One of the hardest stickers to remove was the Circuit City Barcode/securiity tag. A bit of the old WD works wonders, and most people have a can around the house.

I always take the sticker off VERY slowly, once the sticker is off and there is still some GOO left, use the sticker you just peeled off to take off the goo ~ alternatively you can use a piece of tape, this way there's no mess/smell/scratches left from using abrasive cleaning... It takes time, but I always get it to look perfect.

My friend uses rubber cement remover and he says it 's actually much better than Goo Gone. He even uses the stuff to remove stickers off of GBA cardboard boxes. I haven't tried it yet so I can't verify his claims.

Yes, heat the sticker off first, then use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. This stuff works really well.

now if i could only get the sticker residue off of my outer cases of some of my dvds without damaging the images, then i'd be set.
