Thanks to you CAGers I've decided to get the linked DVD burner for my computer. I'm gonna go with newegg.com because of the price as long as I get some positive responses from you all. Has anyone ordered there before, was it good or did you have some problems.

On a related note, how easy is it to put this in myself, I just slide out that empty plastic thing and put this in it's spot in my tower right?
I've ordered from newegg before (formely Egghead Software), and I've never had a problem. They've been around for years. Very reputable.

newegg rocks...
Just got an Aopen CDRW/DVD drive and it came without a hitch and their communication was great as well as their order follow-up.

Newegg is a good reliable site, have gotten several things from there. First rate operation.
(On a side note, I removed Kaw's duplicate and duplicate duplicate posts)

Ditto - Two thumbs up for Newegg. My very first order I had to cancel, they had already shipped. They just told me to refuse the package. I didn't have to re-imburse them for shipping/re-stocking, etc. From then on, I always order my computer equipment from them. They're usually very quick also.

Since nobody else seems to want to reply to your other question...replacing an optical drive is extremely easy. It's just a matter of taking out any space filling plastic in your case, screwing the drive in, connecting an IDE cable from the drive to your motherboard, and giving it power. Should take you 10 minutes, tops.

newegg has a great reputation. i have ordered from them multiple times, never had a serious problem. (once they shipped the wrong video card, but the turn around for the correct card was very good)

Yes, they are very reliable. You might even get your item delivered faster than you expect.

Newegg is probably the best online site I've ever dealt with. I've ordered from them many, many times and always received A+ service.

Sorry, it didn't look like it was posting so I kept hitting submit. Thanks to BigDirty who deleted the repeated posts.
EDIT: I received the following message when I was posting the original message in case someone needs to debug:
message_die() was called multiple times. This isn't supposed to happen. Was message_die() used in page_tail.php?

Newegg owns. Super fast shipping, almost everything I've ordered from them I've got overnight (with the cheap shipping, but that's probably cuz I'm in SoCal as one of their warehouses is.) Even something that shipped from their New Jersey warehouse I got a day or two before the projected delivery date. Newegg has great prices too.

Excellent choice on the burner.
Tell you what, I'd wait until the day after Christmas to order it though. You might get an even better price (or free shipping, at least).

That's what I've decided to do, although even 66 bucks is a great price I think.
