We had a Colecovision when I was a kid and my mom LOVED playing Lady Bug. It was kind of like Pac-Man w/movable walls.

My mom used to play all the time on the NES, mainly platforming games. Her favorites were the Mario games, Milon's Secret Castle, and the Adventure Island series. We used to leave the NES on for days trying to beat Milon's Secret Castle: you couldn't save it, and there was no password, so you had to play straight through.
When I went home to visit for Thanksgiving, I brought my GBA and some games, including Super Mario Land (the first one). She played it the whole weekend.
After games moved past the NES days, she stopped playing. My dad doesn't play videogames or even use a computer. He barely watches TV and movies. He's not into technology, with the exception of his digital camera.

My dad was addicted to Super Mario 3 on NES back in the day, since then he won't touch a video game for fear of getting hooked again and not getting anything done

Both my parents used to. Before my dad died he would take me to the arcade. I would play whatever fighting games were there while he played just as long on a pinball machine or some classics like Centipede or Pac-Man. Mom liked the version of Tetris we had on the old Tandy 1000 and would play it pretty obsessively some nights.

Well if you count endless games of spider solitare and occasionally risk and stratego then yes!
My father used to play back in the nes days but then he moved into rocketry.

My mom used to play Tetris with me. My dad played a bunch of Soul Calibur with me when I first got my Dreamcast. My sister played a lot of Dead or Alive and Virtua Fighter Kids back in the day. Most of my uncles play games too, usually either Xbox or PC, FPS's or RTS's.

The first time I ever went over to my best friend's house over 6 years ago, he was sitting in his living room playing LoZ: OoT. Then I hear his mom at the back of the house in his room shout:
"Alex! How do I kill this dragon thing?"
She was playing LttP.

My dad will play RPGs and King's Bounty on my old SNES and Genesis systems. I've had no luck getting him to try anything newer.
My mom plays puzzle games, Breakout clones, and the original Legend of Zelda.

alongx, I like the avatar...that guy cracks me up.
Anyway, my dad played Atari 2600 with my brother and me when we were growing up but I think he's a little itimidated by today's console's controllers. He did a race on SSX on my PS2 several years back and he was like 'what am I doing!?'. My mom doesn't play at all. One of my uncles I just found out is an avid Tiger Woods golfer on the PS2. He claimed he was even ranked in the top 100 online for the PS2 and after quizzing him on a few things and hearing from my aunt on how much he plays I actually believe him.

When I was a kid, I'd come home to find my parents rockin' on the Atari 2600 and then later on the NES. They would play pong, tetris, Dr Mario, and Mario Kart. My dad also finished the first Zelda. After my dad saw how much time i put into finishing it, I think he just wanted to prove it to himself that he could do it too. He even drew out maps to all the dungeons on graph paper...

Yeah, my dad nurtured my video game habit and pushed me to perfection. When all the other Sons and Dads were in the batting cage practicing, we were at Diamond Jims spending bags of tokens. He bought the first Atari 2600 on the block, and it was downhill after that.

My mother played the hell out of Tetris on the Gameboy Pocket. She played so much that I gave her my Gameboy and Tetris and bought another for myself. She also plays a Ms. Pac Man and a Bust-A-Move clone on the PC and thats about it.
My dad only played some old school games like Centipede and Ms. Pac Man (he is more of a pinball man). He is really good at Ms. Pac-Man and I have a hard time beating him.

My dad used to play games, and he still has his Fairchild Channel F. Ive tried to get him to play games again but he wont.
As for my mom, my brother tried to teacher her how to play some games when he was sick from school once, but I think thats all the games she has ever played, unless she used to play games with my dad.

My father died before things had move much beyond Pong. I found that my mother had an innate problem dealing with moving objects onscreen. She still struggles to use the web and her primary use for the computer is to play Freecell for hours on end.

My mom loves Mario Kart (and a few other racing games) she also playes tile and card games on the PC.
My dad plays games like Tetris and also played Wolfenstein 3D years ago (Doom was far too complex).
I'm amazed that I'm a gamer. My dad hates playing video games, my mom hates playing video games, they hate me playing video games and... they hate video games.
However my 2 sisters like playing video games. I think my sister just got off of Sims on her computer and my little sister likes playing games such as Pikmin and Donkey Konga (alot of Nintendo games).

My dad doesn't play video games because he's color blind...he really wants to play all those World War II FPS but he can't do it because of his vision problems.
My mom pretty much only plays old school type games, her favorite being Space Invaders. Sometimes she picks up a regular game though: I remember she beat Jaws for the NES, and when she stayed with me for a few months she played Zelda OoT on my N64.
One of the funniest things I ever saw was my mom jumping up and down yelling in triumph because she rammed her ship into and killed that stupid great white shark in Jaws.

My dad never played any of my video games, years after I moved out he got hooked on a Nascar game on the Playstation.
As a parent I play games with my daughter who has a Game Boy SP, N64 (formerly mine), and her own Game Cube. Its cool playing the classics with her (mainly the Mario games), and the current ones (Luigi's Mansion, Super Mario Sunshine, Mario Kart). I can't wait until she starts Zelda! The games are too big compared to the earlier ones. I don't see how kids have the time to play them.
Occasionally she will play Socom with me , but not with the headphones. Everyone uses bad language online (including myself)!
