Punisher & Mercenaries demos

What did y'all think of these demos on the new OXM disc? The Punisher was enjoyable, but short. The "interrogation" thing was interesting, I dunked a guy in the piranha tank, but I held him under for too long and he got his face eaten off :lol:
the action was decent, Max Payne/Dead to rights style stuff. One thing that did bug me though was that I got through the demo very quickly, and without dying. I hope the demo was on 'easy' or 'normal' difficulty, as it was way too easy for me.
Mercenaries was ok too, the graphics were not impressive but the gameplay was good. You can get into any vehicle or turret and blow some crap up. The controls & interface were kind of awkward, but having an instruction manual will obviously help.
I will get both of these games, Punisher I'll probably get as soon as it comes out with my Gamerush credit :) Mercenaries I will get either used at Gamerush with the 'trade 3 get a pre-owned for $10' deal, or when it hits the 20-30 price range. Your thoughts?

Oh yea I forgot about the gore in the Punisher. You can blow people's heads or arms off, and they stagger around for a couple of seconds before dropping dead. So, soccer moms, run out and grab a copy for your kids! :P

I played the PS2 demos (free at EB), I loved the Mercenaries demo and liked the Punisher demo much more than expected.

What are the vehicle controls on the XBOX Mercenaries?

BTW, did you know you can turn around at the beginning of the Mercenaries demo and go to a town and steal anyone's vehicle (including military hummers)?

I really liked the Punisher demo but I agree that it was way too short. Ill be picking up the full version when it hits $20 or so.
Mercenaries was pretty fun, but I didn't have much time to play it. Ill have to play it some more in the future.

IYO CAGs what is worse, the Punisher or Soldier of Fortune for those of you that have played both of course. I really don't care about gore, but the game looks interesting.

punisher - i thought the demo was better than expected, i expected garbage, i still don't think it was compelling, i think it is going to be a run-of-the-mill third person shooter that will score 6.0 to 7.1

mercenaries - i thought this was really good, there was so much variation of things that you could do, i kind of see this as a combo of armed and dangerous and freedom fighters with some hitman thrown in, some of the interface and inventory controls were a bit wierd but i am sure they will be pretty easy to get used to, my one complaint is that the graphics (while decent) are a little too cartoon-like as i was hoping for hyper-realisitic with a game of this type like fsw

both demos were pretty easy which is not something i usually find to be true

i definitely will get mercenaries (i already pre-ordered), i will not get punisher

finally got my magazine in the mail and dove into the demo this weekend.

LOVING Mercenaries and Punisher was pretty fun to only i hate how short the demo was. Mercenaries is a release day buy for me. :)


Anyone know what the unlockable is this month or how to do it????

I'm definitely getting this game, but probably not when it comes out because Unreal Championship 2 and Doom 3 come out around when it does.

Punisher - I haven't played this demo yet, but I saw my friend playing it and it looked pretty tight. The dual shotguns were pretty cool.

Mercenaries comes out next week, Doom and Unreal come out in March. :wink:

Well, I have the demo but I've yet to play the games. I'll give it a whirl today. I'm intrigued by both games though and may finally have to break down and use some GameRush credit. Hopefully they have a NEW trade-in deal after this other one ends.

i dont get what's so great about the mercenaries demo...i played it and liked it, but it's nothing to write home about...i wanna try out the punisher demo though after seeing some gameplay footage :twisted:

I finally played them. Punisher was good...but too short to really tell TOO much about it. Looks decent though.

Mercenaries was cool also. I went in a little hap-hazzardly, so I didn't really do much in it.

I was impressed with both... especially the punisher. I really expected it to suck... the quick kills are crazy and interrogation seem to have some different responses from different people. Mercs was cool, though I didn't like the sniper rifle at all... the machine guns and RPGs are plenty to kill everyone.

Yeah, I just wish Mercenaries was on LIVE. Then, it could be one of the BEST games out there.

I still haven't played the Punisher (anybody done with it and want to pass it on, I'll pay postage) but I thought Mercenaries was pretty good on the PS2 (hopefully better graphics on Xbox) but the controls were slightly awkward for a minute or two. I did enjoy calling in a carpet bomb..can't say I've ever done that before in a game.
