So... I asked for cold hard cash for the 1st time ever this Christmas, and I got $400 bucks. I'm going to buy a refurbished iBook with part of that money... but I'm going to treat myself to 1 game. Heres the list that I've come up with. Vote for one... I'll probably buy the game you guys pick because I'm impartial between these. I might just buy two if the total isn't over $100 bucks. BTW... no Halo 2 because my Xbox (and my Live account) is back in college.
EDIT: Hmm... I just realized I also have a $25 buck target gift card. So if I can squeeze out THREE game for around $100 bucks (+/- $10) that would be excellent. So I'm thinking that PoP and MP2 are shoo ins (I'm not a big fan of the MGS series... I like Splinter Cell better... and even then I;ve only played the 1st one). What should be my third... keeping in mind my $110 price ceiling.
EDIT 2: I bought Pop and MP2 @ Target for about $50 bucks (after my gift card). Then I went to Best Buy and bought Viewtiful Joe 2 (I got an extra $50 bucks). And tomorrow I'm gonig to go to BB and buy the Xbox version of Tiger Woods 2005 for $32 after GCC. COOLNESS. I can't find Alien Homind... TO THE INTERNET!

I know it is not on your list, but you have pretty much every current console, and I personally would pick MGS3. You can pick it up cheap used and the game is amazing.
if not that, then Metroid Prime 2, only due to the fact that the first was good and the sequel is also supposed to be really good

Is MP and PoP @ $38 bucks in the B&M stores, because I don't see it online...

Need for Speed Underground 2. Perfect example of a game that doesn't follow your theory.

Yes. Tomorrow.

Not a theory. The gameplay is still the same, added to the fact that the only dramatic changes were light and dark worlds as well as MP.
Plus the response on the game is just as good as the first one.

Not to mention the extremely, extremely, extremely annoying product placement in the game.

I mean, seriously.. Cingular and Burger King, not to mention the glow from Best Buy's store sign that rivals the light produced by the north star..

MP2 is just as good as MP1 but I voted for VJ2 because it's simply more fun.

Metroid Prime 2 seems to be the clear frontrunner from the ones I've played - and this is coming from someone that didn't particuarly like the original MP. Make it your definite, and if you have some extra cash pick from the others (or grab MGS3 as someone else said).
I'd personally avoid PoP:WW. I picked it up at a local place that still allows opened-game returns, and I was very glad that they do. It's a badly done rehash of the original.

Echoes is the best choice from the list, although for me it wasn't as gratifying as the original MP. I dunno, the story just seemed kinda thrown out there, and I was too impressed with the light/dark world mechanic.
That said, it's still a great game. Pick it up.

My friend said Mario Power Tennis was pretty good, so I voted for that.

The two I would have considered are Metroid Prime 2 and Prince of Persia:WW. Having played both, I have to go with Metroid Prime 2. If you didn't like the first one stay away because it is more of the same, but the game just seems more polished this time. The puzzle elements are quite good this time around. Warrior Within is good, but it feels a bit rushed. The game isn't manhunt. Sure they added blood and the Prince looks grizzled, but the game is essentially the same as the first one.

I'd stay away from Prince of Persia, I get the feeling it will suffer the same fate as the 1st one and be 20-30$ in a few months

It already has double the sales of the first, so I doubt that will happen. At least as fast as it did for the first. And it still took about 7 months until the first hit 20.

I would go for Alien Hominid (Gamecube). Awesome game, and like someone said, it might not be around for long. Of course, there is supposed to be an Xbox version coming out in February '05, so you could always wait for the best version to come out. :) Hey, the Gamecube version is $30 at GameStop.com (I don't know if any B&M stores have this for cheaper, haven't seen any deals on it).

Metroid Prime 2, unless you want to wait a little. It should be 20 bucks soon. If you want to save the 17 bucks, get PoP:WW

For 3 games id say Mario Tennis, Alien Hominid and Prince of Persia WW if not that one then MP2. I own Mario Tennis and it is veryvery fun. Its a game that anyone who comes over gamer or non can have fun with and learn, alien hominid besides being cheap seems fun enough from what ive played and i love metal slug and contra. PP WW or MP2 i would say depends on which ones prequel you liked better.
