Damn it, I was expecting the sequel to the best platformer I played in the last several years and instead I get a goth prince and janky combat. Ugh. Is it just me, or is PoP:WW a general disappointment?
P.S. Just read about EA aquiring about 20% of Ubi Soft stock. Seems they were preparing PoP by attempting to bury any chance of a wanted sequel.

I found the game to be okay, I rather liked the new combat system and the fact that the puzzles were much easier. I could have done without listening to I stand Alone every 5 second however.
But yes, the new price is a douche, the old one rocked!

It's not how he looks, it's the fact that his personality is gone, he's become the typical macho he-man character and it makes the story a bit less enjoyable.

That's one of the same reason's I didn't like the character of Shadowman in the sequel as much as the original.

The puzzles are easier? Dood, that was the best part of the original. I weep.

Well things go a lot faster so the combat to puzzles doesn't take forever like it use to, but yes they are much easier and more obvious.

Not to mention the spacing of battles. Finished a long puzzle so that must mean I am going to have a round of enemies teleport in. jump, slash. jump, slash. jump, slash...
That's why I probably won't be picking this up unless it goes super cheap.

Wow, I was beginning to think that I was the only one on this website that didn't care for the original Prince of Persia. I had the exact same complaints that you did. The combat of the first one felt like a graphically enhanced version of double dragon, just mash the button till the enemies are gone.

the new prince sells better. They have already sold a good amount of copies of the game, which means more sequels.

So far, I am enjoying WW just as much as SoT. The atmosphere is definately different, but the gameplay is just as good. I never had much problem with the puzzles in the original, so I havent noticed a general lack of difficulty in the ones in WW so far..just feels the same.
Both are excellent games IMO, and I think the attitude change and music are two points that people are completely overblowing.

Actually, I found the fighting action of the original PoP nuanced and stylish if you had enough room to fight in- Slash one, pause, hit the one coming up behind you; vaultslash over the original, sandbank it, then wall thrust into the second one, hit the third to keep it at bay and finish the second one off a moment later...
Still, the puzzles is what made that game what it was.
And the general concensus from PoP lovers is that PoP2 is devoid of most all that made the first one fun, mostly the Prince's attitude, as aforementioned in the posts.
If you can't like your character, you don't care about his plight.

Well the combat system is better since you get 2 weapons and the enimies become quite a bit more challenging, however to make the game flow better the puzzles are a lot easier and often enimies are scattered throughout them, still in obvious places like terraces but it feels like 1 complete game now rather than 2 minigames that you switch between.

Hmm, maybe I would like this then? Well, I'll probably wait to pick it up later when it drops.

You might just consider renting it, its not that long and after beating it I had little desire to touch it again.

I played the Sansd of TIme three times all the way through - I never do that these days... I think the last adventure game I beat three times was A Link to the Past back in 1992...

I am not very far into the second one (I just got the sword/key, and that is not a spoiler), and I think it is an ok game, but not nearly as good as the first. I could not make myself stop playing PoP, but I often find myself wanting to take a break from WW. The environments are too dark, the pacing is off, and thus far I don't find the combat that much deeper than the first. Some cut-scenes can be skipped by pressing 'A', but some, instead of being skipped, run through in fast-motion, which is kind of funny the first time, but annoying if one keeps dying in the same spot. There is still fun to be had here, just not as much as the first go around.
The original PoP sold over 1 million copies across three platforms

I'm surprized no one has mentioned the BUGS in this game. I've played the game for 2 days and had to restart several times. i.e. Stuck in room
