Have you ever stayed at home from work or school in order to play a video game? I remember a few years ago, when LOZ: Majora's Mask came out, I skipped school for a few days in order to play the game. I did this to get ahead of my friend in the game, who was also playing it at the time. Please share any times you have done this, it should be interesting.

PS - I'm sorry if something like this has already been posted, I did a search, but nothing came up.

I cut school back in the day to play Ice Hockey for the NES.

I thought it was the coolest game...back then.

Didn't stay home, but was a couple hours late to work playing Simpsons Hit and Run. Luckily my boss wasn't there :) And a couple of times when I wasn't feeling well, and was actually somewhat sick, a game tempting me was the factor that caused me to call in.
And I skipped class all the time in college playing Vincents Hollow, a text mud.
I stayed up from 6 pm till 830 am playing it once, took a 1/2 hour nap, took a shower, then went to class, proceeding to snore through it. After that I decided to just skip class if it was that bad.

Not for a game but I'll always remember when PS2 came out I camped outside a Walmart all night, called in sick the next morning and stayed up all day playing my brand spanking new system :!:

Yes, I have a few times to play my friends in Madden tournments at a friend's house. We use to hold them at each other houses and at the highest point of the tournments we would set up the game systems outside on the porch with TV's and play the finals in front of everyone in the neighborhood.

We didn't play for any prizes but just to have bragging rights.

Guilty for Shenmue. I called out of work twice to finish that game

Nope, there's never been a game that makes me want to skip school, I can handle waiting a few hours.

I haven't, but my best friend in middle school always seemed to get mysteriously "sick" when he got a new game :) For Final Finatasy 1 and Ultima:Exodus he was sick for like 3-4 days each.

I spent a ton of time playing Age of Kings when I got laid off in 2001, though. All I did was play that game and go to the pool for like 5 weeks straight.

I don't think this counts, but I will post it anyway. I once was going on a business trip and was supposed to travel on a Friday (driving). Due to a snowstorm though I decided to wait to go until Saturday. Since I would be working/traveling on a non-work day, I decided not to work on that Friday and instead played (and finished) MGS 2.

Once , when Legend of Zelda OOT came out I talked my brother into driving me up to Best Buy to get it when it opened, actually about 20 other people standing around waiting too.

I don't blame you, thats an excellent game. I've never skipped school or work to play a game, though I've thought about it before.
