since it seems that some players are better then others in certain jobs maybe it'd be a good idea to break some players into what they are best at. We need to find out who is a good at what.

Some specialties could include:
Defense, Offence, Support, Sabotage, Scout, Sniper, Driver, Gunner, Rocketman, Pilot.

A real balanced team should have people that fill all those job well. Nothing is sadder then being on a team with no defense, or no one using the veichles.

This idea has been tossed about before, and it's simply not going to happen with a casual clan such as this. Plus, being a good player means being able to adapt to whatever situation you find yourself in. What you excel in should determine part of you prerogative, but not all of it. I'd be perfectly happy if a player were good at lots of things as opposed to being great in just a couple of areas.

Add me to list gamertag below....

dude, we already sent you an invites months ago but you never played with us so you were cut. staff, let's hold off on the re-invites for now.

everyone, here's how it is: if you're not able to play with us regularly (meaning a couple hours a night, a couple nights a week), you don't belong on a clan. or, at least not ours. yes, we're a fairly casual clan, but we're still a clan. we're all dedicated to playing with each other, learning from one another, and improving together as a team. we're very large and multifaceted, yes, but playing together often is something we all have in common. if you just want some good people to play with when you get online, put a couple of us on your friends list, and hop into the non-invite custom games that we play. we're very friendly for the most part, and i'd like to think fairly welcoming to strangers.

also, please don't sign up just to be associated further with CAG. we all love the site, but the clan is for actual gaming. i've noticed several people who sound excited when joining, then just end up never playing with us when they're on (if they're on at all). point is, if you've been cut once, you'd better have a good reason why you should be allowed back in and commit to actually playing with us for a change. no hard feelings to those that got cut already of course, i'm just saying maybe a clan isn't for you. any questions?

would this apply to those that work 3rd shift as well? i know it doesn't matter to me after this week, since i am getting laid off, but its just a general question. i get on when i can and as of next week, i'll be a regular at practice.

well i am getting on here in a minute.

Too many great games lately, but I'm starting to practice in the training games with my brother. I really sucked in a match I had with fellow CAGer's the other night. I hate small maps, I do much better in maps with vehicles.

alright cool. it shouldn't be a problem for me to be to practice starting next week, unless i happen to work another 3rd shift job during my lay off.

yeah for me its this and kingdom hearts on the ps2. somehow the gba version got me to go back and start this one over. but yeah, game time will be a plenty for atleast 2 weeks for me, then i must search for a job.

I should be on tonight no problem to layeth the smacketh down on some roody-poo candy asses. So warm up your controllers and pick up a pack of smokes, cause when I am finished, you are definitely going to need a cigarette break. Also any reference to my girlfriend yelling at me and being heard through the mic, because I can only kill 3 of the 4 guys attacking me will be considered a personal insult and will be dealt with via a pistol whipping.

(faint sound of various beeps and typewriters)

THIS JUST IN

Those of you who have noticed your Rumble stats reverted to zero will be happy to know that Bungie has isolated the problem and returned everyone to their Rumble Pit rank as of December 31st.

After a period of investigation, we’ve discovered what caused the rankings in the Rumble Pit matchmaking playlist to be reset on January 1st. We have isolated the problem and we can revert player rankings to the point before they were reset.

After some discussion, we decided that this would benefit more players than it hurts, but rankings achieved since Jan 1 will be reset to either their status on December 31, or for brand new players, simply reset to level 1.

This server update will take place at 2am PST tomorrow morning, in order to minimize disruption to the service. During this period, stats for those Rumble Pit matches will be unavailable.

We realize this process will cause some aggravation – especially for players who’ve been working since Jan 1 to regain their ranking, but we feel far more players will benefit than suffer. For those who are annoyed, we genuinely apologize. Fixing the rankings should also alleviate the mismatches that inexperienced players have had to suffer through. There was a point about a month ago that i thought I was gonna kick the addiction but then a whole new depth to the gameplay seemed to appear. The little tricks you can use and finding out about them is quite fun. I played for 13 hours straight saturday I haven't gamed that much in a row since I was a teenager

A few of us ran into some cheaters last night, using the modem exploit cheat.

There were two matches, one of them a CTF Wraiths on Coag:
One minute we're making nice progress towards the second score, then we're all sitting at the "Re-connecting" screen for about a minute, almost two. Once we came back, the other side had ALL the vehicles, ALL the weapons except for a couple, and they had scored once in response while we were sitting around doing nothing. This gave them the advantage they needed to win 2-1, since they monopolized all the vehicles for most of the rest of the game.

The other one was a 4 x 4 Team Slayer game on Burial Mounds:
I was making my way to the rocket launcher, and then within one step of it, everything went on "pause". When I came back, the rocket launcher was gone, I was well past it, and was being sniped by someone. Suddenly, one guy was left, as his other three teammates had disappeared. Just the sniper left. I hopped into the Ghost, made it to where he was sniping from, and then ran him down with the Ghost. He quit the game right afterwards.

JimmieMac, azn, greendj and I were there for both the games. After the matches, I left them all feedback for cheating.

I went to look for the games in my games history and couldn't find them, for some reason, otherwise I would've posted them.

Your games list may not have updated yet. My list hasn't finished updating from last night either. You did the important thing though: you reported them through Live. ALWAYS do that, if nothing else.

Everyone else goes to the blue waiting screen while one guy stays in the game and he either kills you or takes the flag or arms the bomb.

The good news is that Bungie has already started banning accounts on XBL for cheating. The bad news is that you will still bump into people that cheat every once in a while. Take comfort in the fact that they wont be around for too much longer.

how does the Bungie secret agents prove that a standby cheat was used? it seems that there could be random accusations coming from sore losers unless there is some definitive proof that it was used.

I hope the twinks that tried that crap on us last night in CTF get tossed.

Most of them were in the "Dead Poets" clan, if I remember right.

The moron who thought he could snipe us all into extinction by himself in Team Slayer and do 50-0 while trying to use the cheat, pumping up his stats a bit, banning's too good for him.

The odd thing is that I started the game and was in the game, though recovered after a bit, while azn, greendj and Jimmie said they never ended up starting the game until the paused bit from the cheat was done with. Must be my industrial-strength DSL connection.

^^^^^^

do YOU cheat? ;)

lol, j/k....but yea, on games like CS, if the person loses, they usually say something on the lines of...

"OMFg!!! u HaXX0r, you fugGin Hackkkked the GamE!!!111oneone"

dunno about Halo 2 though..the players usually just say they are using a cheap tactic like in TS, everyone camping or something...i dont see how that's cheap though....its just another tactic...

Have you ever seen the flash cartoon about the computer nerd that accuses someone of hacking and cheating on CS? It is pretty hilarious. He goes onto a forum requesting a script for the ultimate hack. He ends up giving his pc a virus and kills himself. It's been a while since I've seen it, but your post made me want ot go find it.

I was an admin on a server and probably banned at least 2,000 people off of the server and sent in about a hundred recordings of hackers to get them banned off steam. It really made playing tedious because I was being an admin more than a player.

They are no more of a marketing strategy than having a sponsor really. That is the extent of their relationship with Ubi, save for the fact that one of them works at Ubi and basically began the whole thing.

And I imagine they will present some competition. What I want to know is HOW MUCH competition.

By the way, If was able to setup a clan match between the CAG elite and the Frag Dolls (http://www.fragdolls.com), would you guys be interested?

That would be awesome. If they accept, though, we'd have to elect a team to play against them. Also, what would we play? I'm guessing just straight up Team Slayer, which is what I'd be down for.

Keep us updated on this one. Sounds like it would be a lot of fun.

Sorry to all who couldn't find a spot tonite. Every practice as more people show up, it becomes harder and harder to make rooms for everyone. I know many of you were sending me and others messages asking for invites. But it's first come, first serve folks. The moment a spot becoes available, we'll do a spam attack, and whoever gets there first gets the spot. Again, sorry if you couldn't find a room tonite.

In lighter news, the Major Clan Match team ripped a goddamn hole in the collective XBL community. None were safe. Out of what was at least 20 or so matches, we only tied twice, and lost a Slayer game 49-50. The rest of the games were completely unanswered flag caps and bomb plants. It was quite a sight.

lame, my connection was unbelievably crappy the entire night and i could barely stay in a match without lagging out. comcast will be assuredly be getting a call tomorrow.

anyhow, i'm glad so many people showed up for practice tonight, but it's kind of pointless having it if all the more elite guys go play together separately. what do you guys (the elite - zewone, ledhed, arikado, ugamerx, murc, jimmie, narnian, jugsta, ryan, zero, cheapy and myself off the top of my head) think about having an additional practice night on wednesdays and/or mondays at around the same time for just us to play together and do clan matches in? i think it's important to still have you guys leading the regular practices, because that's the time for the newer guys to be learning from us and make the clan better as a whole. us more hardcore guys are on a lot on others days anyhow, that's why i set aside practice as a time for everyone to play together. i know it's more fun to just play the super-competitive matchmade stuff every time, but i for one also like playing with everyone and seeing the rookies improve. thoughts?

I couldn't help but feel like a shithead leaving the practice game earlier. I think you're right Rock; as much fun as the clan matches are, practice nights are there for a reason.

The biggest problem I see (other than the above) is the fact that so many people show up for practice now. While this isn't a bad thing in itself, it makes things a bit hard in terms of organizing solid rooms.

Trakan

Since not everyone can get in on practice anyways, what about making it split practice? I realize it's not the best idea, but that way everyone could practice once a week, if at all. The elites could still practice on Mondays or Wednesdays, if that's going to happen. Eh, just an idea.

Yes, yes they do. Also I also agree that we should be helping the newer players considering it is called "practice" for a reason. I mean us "elite" players need to be a coach like figure training the rookies and developing players. Thursday will be a different practice night, agreed?

if the better players are not going to be playing clan matches and it's pure practice then there should be no VIP room with all the good players. The better "well known" players should break up and host their own rooms and show the kids the ropes.

And just in case.

You're right, and we're addressing the problem as we speak. If more than 16 people are on next practice, the staff players will split and form seperate rooms. This will work, as long as there is no ninny-hammering along the lines of, "But I want to be in the other room."

We should have about 4-5 "elites" in each room guiding the teams and players. We need to think of some training methods also. We need to have some more of those weapon specific training matches

We didn't lose after you left until that last match where we were destroyed.

We bumped our rank 2 spots in both minor and major clanmatches. It was honestly the most fun night of playing I've had so far.

As for the "too many people" issue, I think we should set aside a different night for clan matches and such. I just don't want it to be called "elite" practices because it feels like we'd be distancing the rest of the clan.

Is anyone interested in getting on for practice before the official 9:30 CST practice on Tues & Thurs? I am in NC and it is hard for me to stay up and practice later than say 10:30 CST (11:30 EST). There seemed to be a quite a few of us on early last night.
I'm not suggesting we move practice or anything, maybe a few of us could start a little earlier and then join everybody at 9:30 and drop off as some of the Late Night crew joins. The more CAG practice as teams the better!

I don't wanna hang myself on this one but I had more fun last night than I have had in awhile on XBL and really want to take that same group of people in on more matches in the future. I do want to reinforce the idea though of using Proximity Speak to fool your opponents, this goes for everyone even if you aren't in bigger clan matches. I can think of about 5 times last night on Headlong when me and jimmiemac came in at the bottom and I started yelling into the headset to bring the bomb in from the top that we caught the other team with their pants down. I mean so bad that I walked up one after another and shotgunned four guys in a row who were all looking up at the top including a rocket guy. Jimmie planted the bomb and we had a point 30 secs into the round. I really hated leaving when I did but I needed sleep and although I know people are suggesting Wednesday as a "Clan Team" night I was thinking how hard would it be to swing it to a weekend night where most of us could play a little later?

Is anyone interested in getting on for practice before the official 9:30 CST practice on Tues & Thurs? I am in NC and it is hard for me to stay up and practice later than say 10:30 CST (11:30 EST). There seemed to be a quite a few of us on early last night.
I'm not suggesting we move practice or anything, maybe a few of us could start a little earlier and then join everybody at 9:30 and drop off as some of the Late Night crew joins. The more CAG practice as teams the better!

Just a thought

I like that idea. Starting practice at 10:30 when I usually go to bed kills me the next day when the alarm goes off at 5:00. On Tuesdays I can usually play from 7:30 - 9:00 Eastern. Maybe this way the rest of us can get in some ranked team matchmaking (not clan matches) so we can increase our skill and ranking in something other than rumble pit. Usually when I'm on there are only a couple of other CAGers doing there own rumple pit thing too.

Did anyone get kicked off XBL last night? I did twice. I'm trying to figure out if it was my ISP or the XBL service. I had no lag, but all of the sudden the screen would freeze up and the dash would try to go to "troubleshoot network". Well the network checked out and I was able to sign back on,but I lost my spot in practice.

I think my PC was dl'ing some pretty big files last night. Can that affect your XBL connection?

My two cents.
We had a crowd of people last night. Maybe instead of identifying two days as practice days why not have every night be practice night? Each staff member could have one assigned night to run the practice(maybe some would have two) and clan members would be encouraged to make at least two practices a week. Also in helping new members maybe some of our better players could do a class. In the class they could walk the new guys through some tactics than maybe do some scrimming.

Yeah, they could be causing you to max out your bandwidth and create a bottleneck.

That's a good idea. I know the first couple of practice games I was in, I felt like I was riding the coat tails of the more experienced. Now that I am more familiar with the maps and tactics, I feel like I actually make a contribution.

Could someone fill me in on how clan matches work...like who plays in them...who decides when and against who?

Last night, I showed up for practice and didn't see much in the way of practice.

Tried to jump into games that Ledhed sent invites for and couldn't get in, as it was full with matchmaking matches. Ended up stumbling into a room with most of the clan, and a few non-clan members, Mooky's roommate for one, and a few random people I didn't know for others.

Problem is, all the people who would have made rooms as staff were in that same game, so that sort of nullified the idea of practice.

This isn't to say that the group in that room shouldn't have been playing, it's more that all the staff was in there, kicking ass and taking names. Kudos to them for doing so well.

After a few games with not a lot of clanmates, I decided it was time to call it a night early, so I did.

Reading the "Unauthorized Halo 2 Guide" was more insightful than last night's activites for practice & training.

if the better players are not going to be playing clan matches and it's pure practice then there should be no VIP room with all the good players. The better "well known" players should break up and host their own rooms and show the kids the ropes.

And just in case.
"But I'm lvl 16 and the other cags are noobs"

Then maybe you should think about joining another clan.

You're right, and we're addressing the problem as we speak. If more than 16 people are on next practice, the staff players will split and form seperate rooms. This will work, as long as there is no ninny-hammering along the lines of, "But I want to be in the other room."

I am glad to see that you guys are already working on this.

I'm not saying that you guys are responsible for me having a good time or anything. In fact, I have really enjoyed the practice sessions, and have felt that I have improved because of them. In short: I am appreciative that you all are making the effort.

Could someone fill me in on how clan matches work...like who plays in them...who decides when and against who?

Basically, Staff players need to be present for Clan games, be it Major or Minor. The current staff are:

Rocksolidaudio
Zewone
Me
Murcielago
Arikado

ONLY clan members can play Clan games, and you can't mix and match teams and players. It's one clan vs another clan. Minor Clan games play just like Team Slayer and Team Skirmish. Major Clan games play just like Big Team Battle. The only difference is, instead of having an individual rank during these games, the rank you see is the Clan rank, which will fluctuate accordingly with your performance, just as your individual stats do. You also can't pick a team to play against; you simply go into clan matchmaking, and a team is picked for you.

I'd like to reemphasize that NOONE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES should ever play a Clan match without at least one Staff member present, preferably two.

As for who plays in a Clan match, it's going to be our absolute best players. I know we like to play around and have fun, but Clan games are not a joke. Please don't think that you have to be anywhere near as good as our top players; if you play with us alot and prove your meddle and reliability, than you'll get the chance to play, I promise. If you can't get your game together though, sorry. We need our best and brightest during a Clan game; it's that simple.

Again, I apologize to whomever couldn't find a room last night. All the staff players (including myself) pulled a pretty shitty move and basically turned practice night into Clan match night. Granted, we did well, but it shouldn't be at the cost of everyone else's time and fun. I promise it won't happen again. Rock and the staff players are all trying to think of ways to better organize practice when we have a huge turnout as we did last night. It's by no means easy, but it shouldn't be.

Also, a couple of players have brought to my attention that some people (I'm not going to say any names) were experimenting with exploits last night. I'm not talking the relatively harmless exploits like the "Flag-Thru-The-Floor" trick; I'm talking "Bungie-sees-it-and-bans-you-or-us" exploits.

I'm only going to say ths once: If a Staff player finds out you've been using cheats during practice or during games played with fellow clan members (be it Matchmaking, Custom, Clan matches, etc.) you're gone. I don't care who you are, what your stats are, or how integral you are to the team. You cheat, and that's it. Have a nice life outside of our clan.

Forgive me for sounding like John Q. No-Fun, but I'm dead serious. NO CHEATING.

The guide shrike is talking about is basically a multiplayer-centric strategy guide. It's a pretty good read, especially if you feel unfamiliar with the game's nuances. You should be able to find it anywhere that sells the normal strat guide.

And yes, when you make your new tag, just let us know what it is and we'll re-invite you.

If we're lucky, the BEST case scenario for that is Bungie getting the person in question tossed. In the WORST case scenario (and the most harsh), they toss the WHOLE CLAN out the door, at least the members on the team who were part of the cheaters' party, if not all of us.

Anyone want to explain to me how they'd make it up to the entire clan if we're not able to play online? No, didn't think so.

If you think that cheats are something you should try and see how they work, go do it on someone else's time and XBox. I'm not getting tossed because someone thinks their skills need a little help from an exploit in the code. I know I'm not top-ranked among the clan, and the only way I'm going to do better is to work at it and practice. There's no shortcut in this process, cheating is cheating. And if caught, bare minimum, you're gone. Worse off, I'm gone by association with you. And I'm sure as heck not going to enjoy not being able to play online.

If you cheat and think you're just experimenting, think again. Don't do it. Don't think about it, don't say "I'm just trying to see how it works", simply don't do it. Code exploits are serious issues that Bungie is working to fix and ones they take VERY seriously with their flagship product. Some morons think that they're l33t in using them, they're just deluded.

Think long and hard before you decide to do something on an "experiment" that has much larger implications than just

Exactly. Remember, every move you make online is tracked and recorded. Bungie knows what to look for in regards to cheats. It's pretty damned obvious when flag caps happen instantly and don't have a route. And if you do it during PRACTICE, well that just makes it look like we're ALL doing it. It looks as though we are there for the express purpose of practicing the damn thing.

Zero tolerance folks. Do it and you're gone. I refuse to be associated with cheaters, and will not be brought down with them when the uppins come.

Anyone that gets me tossed offline because of "guilt by association", you will be buying me a new XBox, a new copy of Halo 2 CE and a new XBL subscription, since the items above now would be made quite useless. Get the hint?

Consider THAT practice.....whether or not what the staff was doing, you learned a valuable lesson....

Not saying they sucked....cause they had some awesome players....but they werent organized.

We were pwned because we didn't have any strategy. Didn't score once and we didn't deserve to with the horrible gameplay we had out there. I tried to push some ideas forth in our matches for strategy and it simply didn't happen. We had people on my team talking offensive strategy when we were on defense and they weren't doing much on defense.

CheapyD himself jumped teams because of the chaos and I couldn't blame him one bit.

Mooky said it right. We didn't suck because we were bad, we sucked because we didn't have a cohesive plan. And rightfully, we did suck because of it.

Not to say teamwork isn't important, but more important is to have really cool matching, but not same color, icons with sweet background colors. Once we get those we will be unbeatable, just like everyone we played last night. And cheers to SgtSlapAHoe, he was a brave man and went down shooting.....and slapping.

I really think the best way to down a wraith is to go find the rockets and make him eat them. If someone boards me i usually just drive up to a wall and shoot which usually kills them if I do it in time

If your on the back throw a grenade. It will kill them faster than melee kills. Also melee hits don't work when your on the back.

Concerning jumping on the back of a wraith you can disable it by repeatedly hitting the melee button 'B', until the panel breaks off and place a grenade on/in it with the 'Left Trigger'. Now the only issue is you must have grenades to be able to do this :?

Okay do you guys wanna know how we got our clan rank from 8 to 9 with the one match we needed when I said I'm getting back on? I'll tell you anyhow. Okay we were matched up against a ranked 11 clan on Neutral Bomb on Coag. They were kicking our ass because they seemed to have every vehicle. On one of there bomb pushes to our base we stopped them but they kept coming and were kicking our ass at our base. So me, JimmieMac and Ugamer sneak out through the teleport. I get the active camo and us 3 keep heading to there base. By this time we realize they still think the bomb is at our base so they tell me to go in to their base by myself since I was invisible. I walk in and notice one guy on the radar. Just as I was about to start arming it he jumps down to the bottom level where the banshee is. He notices I"m arming it and tells his clan and takes the lift back into the bombing room. Of course I notice this and punch him in the mouth so I was the only one in the room now and we score! Awesome. I may not be the best story teller but man it felt good to sneak in that score. We won the match 1-0.

The same thing happened to me and a few other clan members in team skirmish last night. Playing assault on midship, their whole team was in our base attacking and somehow azn_playa slipped the bomb out and three of us (Arikado, Azn_playa and I) went to the other base and scored while pimpinc(i think) was fighting all four in our base.

My guess is that the biggest hurdle is that "The Frag Dolls" are a marketing effort created and financially supported by Ubisoft. I'm sure if we wanted to challenge them in Rainbow Six or Ghost Recon, it would be no problem.

I bit the bullet and decided to put up a post:

Hello there. I'm also a member of CAG, as well as a member player in the Halo 2 CAG Clan.

In CheapyD's post, he made a one line introduction, to let people know who he is and what we do at CAG. It didn't sound like a plug to me, merely an intro, and if it came across that way, CheapyD isn't one to toss out cheap plugs for CAG. That's not our way. CheapyD does a lot of work in keeping the site updated and ferret out numerous deals, and fellow CAGs help one another.

CAG is a site that has helped me greatly expand my gaming collection and save a few dollars doing it, in deals we find in B&M stores, as well as online. That's only one purpose for it as well, as people trade and sell games there, discuss games, as well as many off-gaming topics ranging from music to politics and numerous other things. We're a social group as well as fellow gamers, part of which is the Halo 2 CAG clan.

Our clan has worked long and hard into a good, solid gaming group, and we've been discussing the chance to see how well we would compete against the FragDolls. We've heard a number of things about them, and we'd like to see how well we would compete with them.

CheapyD's post was to offer up the possibility of a match with the FragDolls, and I have talked with him, as well as many other CAGs, knowing that he didn't come onto this forum for a cheap plug. He had only the interesting in finding out if the CAG clan could have a chance to meet the FragDolls, nothing more.

I personally would like to see such a match, or matches happen, and see how our skills match against one another. I hope that we could all work past this poor first impression and engage in some meaningful dialogue towards that end. Hopefully, we can move forward and see what happens.

Again, CheapyD's intent was only to try and work out a match between CAG and the FragDolls. I know this without question and hope you all can understand that, over time.

lol, zewone sent me an invite once, probably thinking that my skirmish level was somewhat high seeing as the shown level for me was 9, but that was actually for team slayer...when i got in his room, i thought we were playing team slayer, but him and crymson were playin skirmish and i was like "uhh...i'm only level 3, i'll just leave you guys to play, heh..." lol, they were like level 10-13 on skirmish

All these CAG clan leaders talked about splitting rooms up to make things fair...then tonight after a shitty gametype everyone leaves into an invite only game leaving only but a few out. I hate to be the one to bitch...but why the hell didn't you just tell me to end the game if you people got sick of it? We could've broken off into the equal teams that were talked about and everyone could've still played fun games. Also, if your going to load up a matchmaking game at least make the room open so that people can get in, I was stuck trying to port over the ten people from mine, to figure things out and make fair rooms, and can't cause the party is closed. I sent messages to nearly everyone who was in the invite only room and no one replied. At least drop me a line on what's up instead of leaving us sitting there waiting to find out what's going to happen from the damn clan member screen. I just don't understand how we can have staff and the damn overlord in a single room and go back on everything that has been talked about on this thread about making shit even out for everyone. That's bullshit that such "higher ups" don't lead in game with all the preaching done on these boards...

tonight was a bit different because it wasn't practice, so things were a bit more casual. also, i didn't quit your party, i lagged out. after resetting my modem i ended up with that group, figuring you would have a good amount of people in your group to do matchmaking with - if you need a staff member in your group to help lead things, just holla. it really was just coincidence that myself, zewone and murc ended up together. you guys seemed to want to play more relaxed, chaotic games anyhow, so organizing a serious custom game didn't seem like the easiest thing to suggest. sorry if it seemed hypocritical, but it really wasn't. trust me, if i thought we could have easily gotten a couple bigger good custom games going i would have spoken up - i much prefer playing those over big team battle.

Rock, sorry to say, but that excuse dosen't hold up. Ask anyone who you were playing with...yourself as well. I did message the overlord and every staff, and most others asking what was going on and if we could organize things. I might've send two to some people after the first one, which was sent a few minutes prior to matchmaking when the group was still in the pregame lobby, where the second message was basically me being pissed off. Instead of everyone jumping ship, how about you ask us first if we would like to do more serious games? I'm sure that would've worked out better instead of just assuming what the other 15 clan members thought. When you say organizing...there was none. I tried to do it, but no one answered my messages...in fact, what happened was the opposite of organizing. I don't mean to be a dick about it all and I've never complained before...but after all that's been said on this thread I thought things we're going diffrently.

Since this threads about to be gone...

I have to agree with Ryan on this one. We were in the middle of what seemed to be a good game, and one that was moving along nicely, and suddenly, there's a burst of lag, and then just about all of the Red team and half of the Blue team were gone in a second. With that group that left were rocksolid, JimmieMac, zewone, murc, NarnianCrusader, Pimpinc333, then CheapyD was right on the heels of everyone else who left. No warning, no saying "Hey, can we end this game and do something else with ranked game", just gone out of the game in the middle. Poof, in a cloud of smoke.

Made me wonder why we started the game in the first place, if a bunch of us were going to drop out mid-game without a word. With all the bitching we all do about people leaving mid-game, why should we do it ourselves?

If people wanted to go do ranked games, why not just use some common courtesty and just say so? Why not wait until the game ended to go off and do it? What purpose does scooting the middle of the game do?

I wouldn't have any issue with people doing ranked games if they just wanted to wait until the end. Doesn't look good as a clan member to see most of our staff sequester themselves in a room and do what they said they didn't want to do during practice. And yes, I know it wasn't a practice night, why not just wait until it's over?

anyone, on a positive note, and hopefully to stop arguing before it happens, i'm announcing a NEW CLAN SCHEDULE led and i (sorry z, couldn't get ahold of you, i assume you're cool with it) just worked out:

TUESDAYS: 8:30 P.M. CENTRAL - EVERYONE IN THE CLAN IS WELCOME. WE WILL PLAY LARGE CUSTOM GAMES WITH WHOMEVER SHOWS UP, SPLITTING THE ROOMS UP WHEN THEY GET FULL. STAFF MEMBERS WILL LEAD, AND WE WILL PERIODICALLY HAVE NEWBIE TOURS ON THE SIDE.

WEDNESDAYS: 8:30 P.M. CENTRAL - EVERYONE IN THE CLAN IS WELCOME. WE WILL BREAK INTO GROUPS OF EIGHT OR FOUR AND PLAY MATCHMADE GAMES (TEAM SLAYER AND BTB). EACH GROUP WILL BE LEAD BY A STAFF MEMBER.

THURSDAYS: 9:30 P.M. CENTRAL - THE 'ELITE' CLAN MEMBERS (WHOM LEDHED, ZEWONE AND MYSELF DEEM APPROPRIATE) WILL PLAY CLAN MATCHES. THE REST OF THE CLAN IS ENCOURAGED TO PLAY TOGETHER IN CUSTOM OR MATCHMADE GAMES.

this way, you can have fun and learn on tuesdays, prove yourself on wednesdays (and improve your ranking), and graduate to thursdays eventually. this will start next week, by the way. any questions?

I have to agree that it was kinda rude to leave in the middle of the game. I don't really consider myself that great of a player, but it seems like most of the staff don't really feel like training or playing with some of the not quite as good guys to get better, even on practice nite. I dunno, just an observation. Please flame as needed. :D

Also, in regards to the Wednesday games:

How many staff we have will determine how many rooms can be made. It will be one staff member for the smaller groups (Team Slayer and Team Skirmish), and two if possible for Big Team Battle, as there would be twice as many players. As always, these rooms will be first come, first serve; we'll do ou best to mix it up and try to get everyone in, but it will require patience on everyone's (including staff's) part.

EDIT: I'm an idiot. Just ask shrike.

although i don't have near as much to say as they do, i completely agree with them on this. its pretty bad when everyone bails on the so called "JV" team and leaves us hanging. ryan is atleast stuck it out with us and hung around. again i know this wasn't a practice night, but does it have to be a practice night for people to be courteous? albeit most of use were invited, but that was in the middle of our game, and we didn't want to jump shit right in the middle.

i know its just a game and all, but aren't we supposed to be a group on the game? isn't that what a clan is about, teamwork and respect? where was it at tonight?

Edit: And on a positive note, I'd like to thank pimp for showing me a few pointers tonight and actually not giving me shit for not being a great player.

Also, rock and I realize that the current times for practice aren't practical for everyone. For the sake of continuity, the times will stay the same for now; but we welcome any suggestions or ideas for a more balanced timeframe. We know no one schedule will work for everyone, but we would like to find the best possible solution.

We kept trying to tell you to stop the game…..but after the 8th round of the same map….no one would end it…or tell you to end it. Believe me, me and jimmie mac were screaming for it to stop….So I left and sent invites to 7 people to start some Matchmade games. Talk about being rude all you want, but those games were getting as fun as watching your parents fu(k…..(not very)

I didn’t invite you, cause that was your game……figured you were happy playing it…..

Theres getting to be too many people in the clan to make everyone happy….and some people will get left out in the rain once in a while, it sucks….but it happens.

This is a great reason of why I’m happy I’m not Staff….I don’t have to kiss other players ass and walk on eggshells to make people happy for something I’m not even getting paid to do….Just because people are Staff, everyone thinks that they’re should be 3 in every game holding everyone’s hand…..making everyone happy with the joyous event of only their presence. (Not talking for Staff, but mearly a concept of what I see...again, not talking for Staff)

Staff, I am not jealous of you one bit….when I get online and play….I get to play….

There's a lot of bitching online, and when I say it here I get 14 trolls for every comment…..Staff messaging me tell me to “watch my mouth” and shit…..

Remember when I came up with the idea of the draft and 6 people said it was stupid in a row? Now we use it almost every game?

What about breaking the team internally into Elites and Non-Elites?? I caught hell for that one….BIG TIME……So why is everyone calling the 8-10 key players Elites now?? Like “Elites should play Frag Dolls” for example……There are no Elites people….Everyone thought it was stupid….. (And “JV team” is just as bad people, come on)

Well here’s another “you heard it here first”…... (New guys to the clan) People aren’t paid to be Staff…they’re guys just wanting to play Halo 2 too….JUST LIKE YOU.

(Staff) This clan wont last at this size….you’ll get tired of walking on eggshells every time you play and you’ll break the clan down to 16-20 people at most…..it will happen, give it time….feel free to get pissed off at me on here, cause when I go online you’ll be telling me how right I was…..and besides, why do these people have to be IN the clan? Why not just add them to your friends list? These people dont have to be IN the clan to play the 800 custom games we play. The "non-elites" arent even playing clan games....at all....why are they IN the clan? Can't they just be on my friends list?

I personally think I’ve brought a lot to the table in the way of HALO 2 stuff for CAG…..but I’m not going to listen to people talk shit about the clan, (but I’ll know not to stick up for the clan here, or else my own clan will go ballistic on me) or have people in the clan complain every time someone leaves their game…..this isn’t Middle School….this is just a game, that we play online, with a bunch of people we’ve never met….

Maybe its fun for some people to hear nothing but bitching online, but for me its not….and I’m not obligated to stay in any game. Ever.

In before the lock...thanks for the invites last night. I wanted to join, but i had a buddy over and we were doing a bunch of slayer training. He refuses to do BTB for some reason. As soon as he left, I got one BTB in and my 3 year old woke up wanting me to put her back to bed. I told her that we had talked about this before, "Halo is primary, and you are secondary...now go back to bed and close the door" j/k

anyways, i stuck it out until the end which was a loss in the last 10 seconds.

one thing i was thinking that could have made a difference in that game. when a sniper is picking out asses off like cold fatility was, we need to call out his location as best as possible. when he is spotted, someone should hunt him down. that guy had such a crap spot, but i couldn't find him until the end of his ass kicking streak. oh well my .02. next time my little girl get an extra dose of dimetapp before bedtime.

This is basically what I anticipated would happen eventually. I am glad that there are ground times being setup for future gameplay so as things are more well defined, but eventually I knew people's feelings would start being hurt when they were excluded. It does really suck that we can only have 8 people at the most for our Clan Matches. And that some people may not get the chance to clan battle with me, or Led, or Zew, or Arikado, or any of the other defined "Elite" at this moment. But I think this is the best time to start setting up some sort of ranking system, for those strictly interested in clan matching, to decide who gets to make "big show". The idea that would work for me would utilize a seperate site or thread or something where we could show basically a ranking system and people's performance on the ranking system would be acsertained by their performance in practice nights. That would be fair to those interested and those not. And once we get an idea of whom the better people are we can better plan the clan match and appropriately setup back-ups incase someone can't show. On top of this we would be able to setup numerous Major Clan Battles at once and spread out or team with other equal players. Just my two cents but if we want to be effective as a team and fair to the clan this is what I am feeling.

Mooky you make some good points in there but you have a piss poor way of wording them with a little bit of tact you would probably get hassled less. I think why we have so many folks is that this is still a casual clan at heart and having the extra people hurts nothing at all. Maybe th eproblem is that we need more staff or maybe add a few more levels into the clan where we have like second and third level staff to go along with the main staff

Sounds like an Excel Spreadsheet to me. I hardly go to the Bungie site, but I'll check it out tonight and see if what kind of data is provided. Maybe from this, I, we, or someone can put a system together. Anyone else have Excel skills?
That would be fair to those interested and those not.
Fair yes, but it will take a lot of work to get this idea off the ground.

You know, you hit it right on the head....this IS a casual clan. Nothing more....

I havent played a clan match in over a month and I've been trying to get people in the clan up to speed to play with us...but the 50 people who play once a month online are a good reason why this clan is going no where. I really loved playing with you guys.....but I've out grown the clan.

When I get online, I want to coordinate and win....not train people who play once a week at best. The custom games are getting tiresome and I'll add Staff to my friends list and play with you guys one in a while....but I have no say what the clan does....and it seems like its getting further away from being an elite team of players to get online and dominate and more of an extention of peoples friends list.

I'll leave the clan tonight and starting up my own clan....It was great playing with you guys. Alot of you are awesome players, but I just need to play clan matches. I want to come online to play to win....

It's really hard for me to leave the clan (I really went overboard at times sticking up for it, and lost some of the respect of other clan members) , and I'm sure you'll do better in this topic without my Hothead comments...

Tonight will be my last night in the clan, and I dont want to be unfair and pursuade people to be in my clan to be "better" or anything....I just want to have a team willing to play as a complete unit.

Theres getting to be too many people in the clan to make everyone happy….and some people will get left out in the rain once in a while, it sucks….but it happens.

This, unfortunately, is pretty true. I don't think we're too big, but our size does require patience on everyone's part. Part of having a clan this size is that not everyone will get to do everything, and no one person can be everywhere at every time.

This is a great reason of why I’m happy I’m not Staff….I don’t have to kiss other players ass and walk on eggshells to make people happy for something I’m not even getting paid to do…

I've never felt like I had to walk on eggshells or kiss ass since becoming staff. It requires a minimal amount of my time (time that I already spend playing Halo 2), so compensation isn't a concern either.

There's a lot of bitching online, and when I say it here I get 14 trolls for every comment…..Staff messaging me tell me to “watch my mouth” and shit…..

I sent you that message because, as jlarlee has already pointed out, you lack tact when you speak. You make alot of good points, but your wordings always sound like an insult or a challenge. They are invitations for shit to get blown out of proportion; do you think it's coincidence that the two major incidents of contention during these clan threads were a result of something you said?

Remember when I came up with the idea of the draft and 6 people said it was stupid in a row? Now we use it almost every game?

If I recall correctly, there was alot of support for that idea. I'm pretty sure I was the only one against it at the time; I still don't think it's the best solution, but for now it works fine.

The "Elites" and "JV" terms weren't started by any staff players; they just somehow unofficially became part of the clan. When one person says, someone else will too; and before you know it, that's what it is.

Well here’s another “you heard it here first”…... (New guys to the clan) People aren’t paid to be Staff…they’re guys just wanting to play Halo 2 too….JUST LIKE YOU.

I appreciate the sentiment, and I'm not being sarcastic.

Many of them are in my friend's list. And that's basically what the Clan list is; a big, communal friend's list. People can look at it and know that the people playing are fellow CAGs, which makes it that much easier to jump in and start playing with them. I always thought the idea, from the get-go, was that the clan would be part casual, part core. By that I mean, there will always be casual members to play custom games with and do regular matchmaking and such; but there would also be, naturally, "Clan" players who are willing to set asde some extra time in their schedule to play actual Clan games. So far, ithas been this way; and while I thought everyone would be able to flow with it, obviously it has created some tension. So rock, z and I are doing our best to figure out what will make the most people happy.

EDIT:I'll leave the clan tonight and starting up my own clan....It was great playing with you guys.

So be it, have fun. I wish you the best of luck with your new clan. It was good playing with you too.

That was on the first game, and I heard every word of the commentary, mostly from Jimmie about it. When it was over, you happily jumped into the next one, as well as everyone else there.

I didn’t invite you, cause that was your game……figured you were happy playing it…..

I didn't expect an invite, and I have no issue wih that. I was having fun and enjoying the game. Until it ended prematurely. The leaving in the middle is what rubbed me the wrong way. Why not just wait it out until the end?

Theres getting to be too many people in the clan to make everyone happy….and some people will get left out in the rain once in a while, it sucks….but it happens.

I like the size of the clan as it is, since with more than 70 people, chances for a large game are usually quite good in the evenings. If we all showed up at once, it might be a little hard to get some good games in. "Some people will get left out in the rain once in a while"? WTF is with that? I've never felt that way playing with the clan, and even with my skill level less than others in the clan, I'm enjoying every minute that I have, even when I'm getting pwned by superior tactics and teamwork.

If you think staff is for kissing ass and walking on eggshells to make people happy, then you need to rethink what staff does. I don't need staff holding my hand, just providing some leadership during the specificed practice period. Beyond that, any leadership is a bonus. And some people do things because they like them, not because they're paid. Money isn't always a motivation. When I'm online and play, I play. One way or another.

There's a lot of bitching online, and when I say it here I get 14 trolls for every comment…..Staff messaging me tell me to “watch my mouth” and shit…..

Remember when I came up with the idea of the draft and 6 people said it was stupid in a row? Now we use it almost every game?

Find me trolling on something you've said, and I'll be happy to comment on it. And for draft, I thought it was a good idea, and I've done it twice on my own. I stick to the end on my game, with my people, because I picked them, and I take responsiblity for what happens.

I know that there is a wide range of skill levels among the clan, and any marking of someone as "Elite" or "Non-Elite" is just smack talk. Unofficially, we all have a pretty good idea who the "better" players are among the clan. We're all here to have fun and play online with our fellow CAGs. And for the "JV team" comment, the buck stops with me, since I was the one who brought it up, as a joke. And apparently, it stuck, and continues on.

Well here’s another “you heard it here first”…... (New guys to the clan) People aren’t paid to be Staff…they’re guys just wanting to play Halo 2 too….JUST LIKE YOU.

No argument from me there.

](Staff) This clan wont last at this size….you’ll get tired of walking on eggshells every time you play and you’ll break the clan down to 16-20 people at most…..it will happen, give it time….feel free to get pissed off at me on here, cause when I go online you’ll be telling me how right I was…..and besides, why do these people have to be IN the clan? I personally think I’ve brought a lot to the table in the way of HALO 2 stuff for CAG…..but I’m not going to listen to people talk shit about the clan, (but I’ll know not to stick up for the clan here, or else my own clan will go ballistic on me) or have people in the clan complain every time someone leaves their game…..this isn’t Middle School….this is just a game, that we play online, with a bunch of people we’ve never met….

Maybe its fun for some people to hear nothing but bitching online, but for me its not….and I’m not obligated to stay in any game. Ever.

Again, if you think that staff has to walk on eggshells, then you really need to think on what they're supposed to do.

And about how the clan is, sizewise and who plays in clan matches, that's always your opinion. As part of the clan, I always stick up for it, and if something isn't right among it, I say something. I greatly appreciate your strategy guide, as it's been quite helpful, as was the recommendation for the Unauthorized Halo 2 Battle Guide.

If I'm in a match with my clan, going good or bad, I stick with it, since there's always some good to be had in it. If I dumped out of the game, then people would be bitching about me. I wasn't bitching, just expressing my displeasure about the game ending early. Maybe I'll listen more carefully about people wanting out of the game, though unless I have control over it, there's nothing I can do about it.
