how allergic are you? My uncle is mildly allergic and hepa filters plus decongestants seem to work.

Or you could try an outside only cat.

My eyes swell up and my nose and throught get all stuffed up. Also I live in Manhattan so an outside cat won't really work

I know there are some breeds that are supposed to be non-allergenic, I think some of them even have fur, but I doubt they are cheap. I think you should try to convince your wife to get a pet that won't make your life miserable.

Maybe an allergy doctor could give you something which would help you. They helped a coworker of mine who is highly allergic to pretty much anything that they tested for. He could not be around cats at all before, and he can now be around them for a half an hour or so at a time now.

Yeah that's how my father is, my mother always wanted a cat but eventually they settled on a dog.

My fiancee is allergic to them only when she touches her face after petting them....I dont know if youre touching your face after, but its a thought...just wash your hands after handling them/being around them might help

Cats Are Cunts
by Triumph The Insult Comic Dog

Album : Come Poop With Me

You know...

Dogs aren’t clever
they eat their own dung
they whine like babies
and sweat through their tongue
The big ones are stupid
the small are high strung
but cats are cunts

You know...

Dogs are filthy
they get ticks and fleas
they drag their asses
and give Lyme disease
you have to train them,
pick up their crap on your knees
but cats are cunts

1, 2, 3...

cats are cunts
cunts are cats
cats are cunts
cunts are cats
it’s easy to learn
so let’s all say that

cats are cunts
cunts are cats
cats are cunts
cunts are cats
so spread the word
through your own habitat

You know...

Dogs get rabies
they drool and they fart
they drink from toilets,
they’re not very smart
they get worms
but they're better than their counterpart
cause cats are cunts

why do you think they call it pussy?

Get a hairless cat. Although i don't know how your wife would like a hairless cat, but it's worth a try. I was semi-allergic to cats my roomate bought one, and my senses went crazy. Stuffy eyes, sneezing ect. I just dealt with it, after a while I guess my body grew a tolerance and Now I hardly get anything at all. So, go hairless, or see how long it takes for your body to grow a tolerance.

If we had more room we'd have a dog

If I remember correctly, my aunt has a "ragdoll" type cat that is non-allergenic. But it was like $700.

When my wife and I got a cat it took me about a month to build a tolerance. I would suggest washing your hands after handling it. Also, don't let it sleep in your bed until you have built a tolerance and get some Claritin (it will get you through the rough times).

SECOND'D.

Also, my wife an I have a Manx cat (the ones without the tails) which are supposedly better on the allergies because of a difference in their skin dander. I really am less allergic to him than to my own cat (a white Turkish Angora). And yes, a (generic) Claratin a day really saves my ass.

Hmm, want my roommate's cat? It's got hair and it's probably retarded, but I'll mail it to you for free.

Damn, I was going to suggest that. I love sphynx cats, I love hairless animals in general. As you said, many times the allergy is much milder with a hairless, and some have no problems at all.

We have around 25 cats here at home... I'm not allergic to them, but my sister is/was. After being around them for a while, her symptoms pretty much went away. Sometimes she sneezes and such, but it isn't very often...good luck.

I have 3 cats, 2 of them for more than 10 years. When anyone comes in my house and bitches about being allergic, I tell them to be a man and suck it up.

I hear Claritin works pretty well, and there are breeds that are less allergenic than others. And you can probably build up a tolerance over time. But don't get one and then decide to get rid of it afterwards.
