View Full Version : MTV's "Made"

Has anyone watched this show? To cut to the chase, they find someone who's either an outcast, fat, an extreme nerd, short, tall, etc, that whine a lot, and can't fit in. MTV then makes them over and sees what happens.

Okay, so this is what's wrong with society. America and the youth in America has some bullshit idea of normalcy that doesn't exist. We're all longing to feel the need to fit in unless you're some egotistical bastard that thinks they DO fit in. So then you're in a dilemma. You want to fit in, but you don't want to be cocky.

Episodes include a dork who wants to be made a prom queen, a nerd who's a right wing anorexic republican with a love for dancing like a fool and words like "spiffy". So, what's MTV do? Make him feel worse, naturally. They change his hair, spike it, give it highlights (which actually did look better), preppy clothes, and here's the kicker.. his trainer is one of cosmo's "ten hottest guys", so he's going to have this guy breathing down his neck every few minutes.

My god, what is wrong with this.. MTV is what's wrong with this society. I met an awesome girl the other day, who happened to be in my economics class my senior year.. she doesn't really go out much and her self confidence was shattered by her father and ex boyfriends. One ex cheated on her, and her dad cheated on her mom and every other wife, so she's anti-guys, and i've spent the past week trying to convince her that she's an awesome person and one of the most amazing people that i've ever met in my life, which isn't a lie.. her thought process is amazing and I respect her opinion.. she thinks for herself, which is great.

Anyways, sorry for the rant. MTV just pisses me off with their forced bullshit ideas of normalcy and just trying to change people in general. I'd like to think Darwin's theory applies to society.. I just don't understand how crap like this gets put on TV. This kid needed help BAD, but if MTV had let him be, he would've eventually found someone who liked him. Fucking MTV.

I've seen it a couple times and haven't watched it for some time, but the only one I remember is different from the whole makeover thing. It was some nerdy kid trying to make the basketball team or something. Actually seemed like a good idea for a bit because it let the kid know how it felt to be on the other side of high school and the hard work that could go into making a team like that, etc., etc. But if it's become just another makeover type show, then it must die. There's way too much of that crap on TV preaching to adults now, we don't need one that preaches to high school kids too.

Once you get done bangin' this chick you should go thru her wallet, steal all her money and cards, just to mix it up a bit, this way she'll have a new story to tell people.

Or I could try.. you know, to not be a stereotypical guy and not go after sex and (gasp) actually have a meaningful relationship..

Ha, turn it on MTV. Some chick is wanting to join a football team. I can't wait to see her get sacked.

It's just that it's hard to say the words "an awesome person and one of the most amazing people that I've ever met in my life" without sounding like a sopping wet vagina, you were close to pulling it off but you're still way off.

Those GI Joe videos are hands down the funniest thing on EBaums. My favorite has to be the Pork Sandwich one where the special ed kids are making something on the stove and burn the whole house down or the ice pond one where the kid falls on the ice at the beggining, the absolute funniest part of that one being when the kid falls ("hahahaha ahh fuck").

I know exactly what you mean. I'm in that exact same boat right now. Except it isn't senior economics. And I agree about all of pseudo-normality that MTV portrays. And I'm not an outcast or a nerd or anything, so its not like I'm just saying that because I don't fit in. It can just be really damaging to people.

You identify with Scorch on a personal level.

Ladies and gentleman of the jury, I give you the evidence but it is up to you to make the conviction.

That must've been a kickass Lit class. I was first introduced to Rammstein by the movie xXx (Triple X). Ever since then I've been a big fan. I'm just patiently waiting for a US tour.

Yeah it was. It was for a lesson on translation. We had to listen to du hast and get the lyrics of the song in German. Then we used internet translation tools to translate into english. We got some really strange stuff when trying to translate it into english.

cell phones because people lock out the outside world, get cancer and spend hundreds of dollars, I like old rap (public enemy, Run DMC) but new rap blows, that's not my opinion, it's true, and I don't really mind AIM, it's just not a great thing to be associated with.

How do cell phones make you lock out the outside world? If anything they help you stay better in touch with friends coworkers etc.

Scorch: Dead on. MTV, after catering to the 'cool' teens, is now trying to do public service by helping the 'not-so-cool' change their image to that of every-fucking-body else.

Whatever happened to playing music videos? MTV Generation people, wave 2, are sickening.

What does the shaq-fuing M in MTV stand for these days?
Right on; this channel sucks the big long one. I saw a commercial today for some Sweet Sixteen program where they show a "square" boy from the 50's getting his first peck on the cheek and then they show a "hip" boy from now about to get his first lap dance at some chicks Sweet Sixteen. WTF?!!!
Is this the norm? Is this what the kids should be doing these days? Boys being pimps and girls being sluts. When MTV throws on our lap a bunch of unwanted pregnancies and STD victims, we all pay for it through taxes and Medicaid programs. For my resolution, no more MTV or MTV2. Zilch, nada. I don't want my MTV.

Yeah, I watched it this morning. She pussed out on a hit and landed on her back the wrong way then whined about it. Once her doctor said it was okay, though, she was magically 100% better..

I've been seeing that all day. It's apparently some real-life thing about girls or guys turning 16 and it's going to show us how times have changed.

Seeing as how most parents hate MTV in the first place, and only teens are watching, they're only telling people what they already know. I don't mind if there's SOME reality stuff at NIGHT, like Bam or Newlyweds or other things like that, I can take them in small doses.. but right after the ball dropped to 2005, they had a three hour Pimp My Ride marathon. Have you watched TRL lately? It's hilarious. They play 20 to 30 seconds of each song.

Now VH1, with its infinite "I love the xx's" (80s, 90s, 70s, etc), Surreal Life (Flava Flaaaaaaaaaaav!) and the HILARIOUS show where they put hidden cameras in cars to catch people singing.. that can stay. I love VH1. They're starting to put more and more reality crap on there.. get ready for another round of Osbournes on MTV, too, the "final season" starts soon.

You know what's cool though? That one show that has game characters dancing to music.. at least they play some music.

One of the girls from my school was on made 2 years ago. She's wanted to be an actress. Mtv got to be a major pain for her though following her everwhere she used to just randomly get up and leave to get away from the camara women. Worse off that toward the middle did she not want to be one the show but mtv made the school make another play just so she could star. The play however was about her and the mtv garbage so how could she not be the starr. Cool thing about it however is many people at the school didnt like the cameras being there so explatives and innapropriate gestures were always being done at the camera. So even though she said she regeret being on the show , everybody got a laugh out of it.
