What is your vote for Deal of 2004?

I vote for the TRU coupon.. getting games for free or next to nothing? Count me in... a close second being the CC mistake, simply because there were a lot of good PC/PH/GH to be had that normally went for $20 but were SO much more worth it at $5...

i wud say the $5 clearence at BB..since i have really bad luck when it comes 2 loopholes *CC errors* so i guess this was easiest for me :)

You forgot the $5 Ace COmbat 5 mistake. I made the biggest gain here.

Second would be CC $5 games I bought about 25 of them.

I vote for 75% Clearence Sale at KB Toys because I was able to trade-in some of the games I found there at Gamerush for almost twice what I ended up paying for them.

I didn't get in on any of these deals, except for some $5 schlock from Circuit City, so my Deal of the Year was picking up a Neo Geo CD system for $65. Huzzah!

75 % off plus EDGE card off PC games at EB

I am going with the Official CC $5 sale simply because it was the only deal I got in on. In general though the latest gamefly sales seem like the best because I am getting all these games that are actually top notch titles for a great price practicaly new.

Edit: I forgot about the PC sale at EB Games that definately takes the cake, walking out the door with 6 games for $5 beats anything especially whwn their games like Max Payne 2 and Battlefield 1942.

For me, it was the $2 outpost clearance sale. Picked up some great games and DVD's for $2 each. The $5 CC one and the TRU one would've been good, had it not been for the crappy selection at my stores.

I got a few good deals at the TRU sale, but by far the best was the official CC $5 sale. I got a stash of games which I'll be playing for at least another year.

The best deal I got in on was the 75% off used PC games at EB. I got over 20 games for around $35.

EDIT: I even used credit I had to get all of them.

the TRU sale, because I was day late on the CC deal.

what was the story with the official $5 CC sale?
What kind of stuff was it?
I wasn't as active of a CAG'er at that time I guess, cuz I've never heard about it.
The unofficial CC sale was the best for me. So many great games, so little money....

$5 CC sale and the 75% off PC games at EB. I got about 12 games at CC and about 15 at EB. :D

I vote the TRU clearence, as I got crap from CC (didn't even get 2f ro 30 sale), ditto on BB, but at TRU, I got Disgaea and Ikaruga.

A basic summary: back in the earlier part of the summer, CC clearanced a lot of older titles in their video games section to make room for newer games... most of us thought it would be another Rogue Ops type deal but people were confirming some pretty marquee titles during this sale... I know I made out like a bandit (Pikmin for $5? Hells yeah...) during this sale...

The CC deals was pretty ok, the BB and the 2 for 30 at CC I miss out on.. the TRU wasn't that great maybe my TRU was just not that great. The Black Friday deal at EB was the best for me since I actually got a bunch of stuff, but pretty pricy. =T.

So I say I saved the most on the CC deals, it could have been better for me if I had gotton some of the games I wanted.

The first cc sale, I hit 12 circuit citys (some multiple times) and walked out with 100+ games. Marvel vs capcom 2, grandia xtreme, disgaea, ikaruga etc. The only good game I missed was gitaroo man, a cc I went to had 3 of them but I didn't think anything of it until the next day when everyone was looking for it, went back and they were gone.

I missed out completely on the BB sale, and didn't have much luck with either of the CC sales. My local CC had nothing in terms of $5 games, and the one that I went to for the 2 for $10 glitch had caught on and had cashiers overriding the purchase to its 2 for $30.

I would definitely have to say the TRU sale. It was a very good haul for me. Probably pales in comparison to some other CAG, but I was very happy with it. My streak even continued with the YMMV price drops posted recently.

I was able to benefit from all of the above deals, but the TRU deal was the most significant: Besides snagging tons of games for next to nothing, I also managed to scoop everyone on the PS2 bundle for $115. Immediately after that purchase, the cashier got on the phone to let everyone know, and I think half the employees there benefitted from the sweet deal. After that, the TRU employees knew that everytime I walked into the store, I'd be bringing good news. Heh.

I've got to hand it to you folks: you've all done a great job getting cheap games into gamers hands.

The only one of those deals I participated in was the TRU green tag sale, so I vote for that.

How could everyone forget about one of the best trade-in deals of all times with the trade 3 for $10 at Gamerush.

I was able to pick up GTA:SA, Fable, and PoP:Warrior Within for about what one of these would cost new by itself.

GameRush seconded. All of thier sales kicked as, considering you could technically give them a steaming pile of poo and get gold in trade.

My favorite has to be when gamerush had the trade in any 2 games and get any preorder for 30 with the trade in 3 games and get an extra 5 dollars for each game. Glad I could pick up MGS3 for cheap.

But from the poll, I would choose the 5 dollar clearance at circuitcity.

This is easy. For me the best sale was the official $5 sale at CC.

CC for sure. I got 2 copies of Marvel vs Capcom 2 for the PS2 for $10! Plus I got plenty of other games I had been wanting (RE, Pikmin, Disgaea, RAD). Best deal ever, not just 2004. For me at least.

cc $5 sale, eb 85% off used pc games, tru $10 off coupon

i cant choose one of those alone...however, the OP should update the poll because there were much better sales than the ones listed

Definitely the CC $5 dollar sale. Picked up 80 games (only a couple were doubles for friends), timesplitter 2, etc. It was just a great sale since I made it there the night before and kept coming for two and a half weeks after. Picked up some crap but it was worth it at $5 dollars a pop. Almost made it on the $5 dollar mistake at CC but didn't and missed the $2 overstock deals and Ace Combat 5. Tried getting in on the deal at BB but some employee wouldn't give the prices saying that they were wrong. did get in on the TRU Green tag sale initially and picked up about 20 games (quality was better though) but the $5 CC sale takes the cake.

The real CC $5 sale, I think pretty obviously. I can't even count how many games I got from that sale. Ah, the good old days...

I got lucky and picked up over 20 games at the "2 for $30" CC mistake last month. I also became instantly addicted to CAG as a result. (Thanks for creating this forum CheapyD!)

Circuit City's $5 clearance was awesome (even though I've traded in much of my purchases), but the best deal(s) of the year for me was GameRush.

I've traded in so much crap that was just sitting on my shelves (most of them "what the hell was I thinking?" purchases) and replaced them with a lot of kick-ass new games for next to nothing after the trade in values.

$5 CC clearance. I ended up with 2 Ikaruga and 2 MvsC 2, among many other games.

Those of us with Game Rush's nearby had gaming heaven last year.

My vote goes to the combo trade in 2, get a preorder for $30 and combine with +$5 extra each game if you trade 3 (sweetened with profit goldmine's like drake). I made out like a bandit. Ended up with every big release on release day I wanted.

Metroid Prime 2
Paper Mario 2
Donkey Konga
Metal Gear Solid 3
Baten Kaitos
GTA

all for next to nothing. now that I think back on it i'm wishing I took more advantage of it.

The CC $5 sale was the only one that I was willing to drive 2-3 hours round trip to get in on, and the horse did pretty good on that deal, nabbing 6 or 7 games, most of which I actually played.

Oh the BB $5 sale was actually pretty damn good too, maybe even better, I price matched the games at CC and got Sphinx, Wario World and Freedom Fighters for $9.50 total.

Missed out on the CC $5 pc/gh/ph mistake, I certainly would've grabbed a handful of games had I known about it in time. But I wasn't gonna make the drive again just to find out that I could no longer get in on the deal, probably would've tried though had I been back home.

The TRU green tag sale didn't mean much to me since all the games sucked; so once again I didn't bother making the trip to get them, even if they were for free in some cases.

I went about a week after it started and i still was able to pick up 3 or 4 games........i wish i could have goten there earlier though.
