After seeing TrustCompany1013's impressive game and movie collection, I wondered who has the biggest game or movie collection. I've already lost to TrustCompany1013, but is there someone that has more? Pics of you collections or a list would be nice to include. I can't put pics because I dont have a digital camera.

I won't name any names but I think a friend of mine trumps you all. I don't think he's on these forums but he has I think at last count 10 Steel Battalions for LAN play. I know he has 11 Xboxes. And he has every Sega Saturn and Dreamcast title released in the US. Among other things. His basement looks like Defender's store. Actually I think he has a more impressive collection of modern consoles and games, but he doesn't have the quanity of classics (Intellivison, Atari, Colecovision, etc.) as Defender had.

I know Trustcompnay1013 has a pretty massive collection. SneakyP's is also pretty big and so is JSweeney's (but he hasn't updated it in forever, or so he says). I have roughly 500 games but on my collection at ign hasn't been updated in a while since it just takes too freaking long. Just to get the first 150 up too me about 3 hours.
I don't know how much defender has. Never seen his collection ever posted.
Ryback is right though, I think cfosm (something like that) has the largest collection on the site.

The guy with the biggest collection goes by the handle DreamTR. Odds on, anyway - people with big collections are usually pretty quiet about it, so I wouldn't be surprised if there was someone with more. About 7,800 unique games, not counting protos, which he also has a great number of.
I have over 2,500 unique titles, as does my girlfriend, and the board that gamereviewgod and I frequent has a large handful of people with more than we do. The site he linked to also has our collection pics (although both sets are outdated to hell).

It makes me feel better in some way that my appx. 700 games is nowhere near the biggest. My fiance is happy about that fact, too. :)
I got a lot of my games through game companies through work. I'm amazed by people who straight-up buy all their games and have amassed huge collections. Sure beats spending money on cigarettes or drugs, though.

i dont really brag about my collection, because while they're are definitely a lot of AAA titles in it, there are also a lot of "why the hell would you even think about buying that?" titles....not to mention the fact that my collection doesn't consist of anything b4 ps1....i could give you a big long whiney story about how i used to have a lot of nes/genesis/super nintendo games and my mommy threw them away when i was little....but id rather save that for dr phil

NES - 738 games
SNES - 259

Genesis - 211

Saturn - 44

PSTwoGamer
01-03-2005, 10:29 PM
Well, I'm definitely not a collector. I just buy games because 1) of its quality and 2) because I like it. Maybe I'm not into games as most of you guys do, but I don't need a complete game library of a system. I mean common, I won't be playing games like 'The Barbies' and certainly don't need to have it in my library when it's gonna collect dust. I just think some games are just too crappy that it waste my time and money. Just my 2cents.

if that has anything to do with my collection (which im not sure), let me just say that the tv i have is a big step up from the 19 inch one that i had in my room b4 in the past....and while this tv is only 27 inches, its the biggest that i can fit into my current living arrangements (aka room instead of my future house)...its also only a year old and from wal mart...you can hate me now

I have close to 450 games for many different systems, and I like to think they (almost all of them) are high quality games. I don't run out and buy $5 crappy games that often...

My 400 games collection seems teeny compared to everyone else on this board. :( Then again, I do have the most games amongst my circle of friends. :)
Until I joined this board, I used to think I was spending too much on games when I reached 12 for my PS2 and Xbox and I'd go and do an EB Games trade in to get new ones instead of paying cash. Now, I get games cheaper and I'm up to about 20 total, but I just don't have the time to play any more. What kind of school/jobs do you guys have to allow you to enjoy a collection like that?
gamereviewgod
01-04-2005, 12:43 AM
There are only a few things you need for a huge game collection:
A job (nothing major)
A cheap source (flea markets, garage sales, pawn shops)
Luck
Time.
You won't have a 1,000 games overnight. It's taken me over 8 years to get where I'm at. I've pretty much just worked retail the entire time. I have a great source in a local shop that has plenty of games for less than a $1. I attend tons of sales and somethimes you just get lucky. Buying in lots is good too. Sell the doubles on E-bay, but stay away for buying. Shipping and other people get in the way!
As for time to play them (I don't rememeber who brought this up), not really. I've played everything I own, but only a few minutes max. There are plenty of games that get a standard rotation and popping in a truly awful game and sticking a friend with it is priceless. It's all the more for cataloging than playing. You just never know when a game will come up in a conversation. "hey, do you (game name)?" I'm always prepared!
Now, Portnoyd up there, his collection is awesome. His arcade room should be worshipped. It's gorgeous.

indeed, what is the point of owning 1000+ games when 900 of them are shitty rehashes? I have just about completed my casltevania mega collection(every castelvania game ever made for every home console and portable console), i may even go for the arcade jamma board to finish off the collection.
For one thing, my biggest concern is space, i dont have space for 3000 shitty games, might as well just keep the very best. That is just my 2 cents, if you want to figure out who has more games, whether its defender or someone else. go ahead.
there are a couple of crazy traders on gametz: one is sportbettor, he has a complete NES collection, and over 8000 nes games if you include the dupes. smart guy, good trader too.

What's the point of owning baseball cards of shitty players? It's a collection. It's what we do. The percentage of bad games is surely higher then the good ones, but I certainly pop in a bad one once a while just to do it. It's kind of like an entertaining bad movie. At least with games (as opposed to cards) you can actually do something with them.

There are 2 kinds of collectors:
Collector #1. Those who try and collect everything in 2 differing ways:
1a. Try to collect every game for a certain system or every system and don't give a rip about it being complete.
1b. Those who are like a, but must have it complete, mint, or brand spanking new and factory sealed.
Collector #2. Those who collect for quality AAA games.
I think I'll put myself under the #2 type of collector. I might, if I am lucky have 100 games. Been collecting and playing since Atari. Any single game would make me cry if I sold it. They are all games I could play over and over and over... Also, every single one is 100% complete, some still sealed.

Although I don't have a trust fund like some of you apparently do , I have managed a decent collection on my current salary of rocks and twigs.
Currently 478.
I try to buy quality and niche titles over quantity on most occasions.
I have Fatal Frame, Fatal Frame II, Parasite Eve II, Front Mission 4 and Fighter Maker on order from EB.com. I am just waiting for them to come in. I really need a better camera to take pics with.
I only buy Xbox, PS2 and GCN games complete. I prefer complete on everything but I do make allowances for EB and their PS One games or cartridge games. For example, I got tired of trying to find a decent priced Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance so I bought it cart only from EB. When I do buy Saturn games, I only get them complete now.
I am considering weeding out some of the common titles I have (especially non-complete ones) but I am not sure yet.

I have 142 games across 9 systems... I'm 19 and I work and go to school. I have no idea how people can afford so many games. While there are a few games I really want and don't have, I could never handle having so many games that will remain unplayed.
I could never part with any of my games, except for the small storage of pre-played titles in my closet.

The Xenogears is the Fei Square Millennium Collection. Square released a Millennium Collection of various titles a few years back (FFT, LoM (I think?), Xenogears (Fei/Elly), etc).
Vincent Valentine is just part of the Kotobukiya FF VII line.

I got to show this to my sister. She thought I was an idiot for having 20 GCN, 18 PS2, and 15 Xbox games.
She'll still think you're an idiot, but she will think we're even bigger ones.
As for my collection... I feel so inadequit after this thread.

I'm sorry, but cool and Chrono Cross are mutually exclusive.

BEHOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
32' HDTV
*squints* ... Hey, that's the same TV my boyfriend has! I think his might be a bigger size, tho'... I'll have to ask. (Leave it to the girl to bring up size :P )
Anyway-
My collection is dinky, I haven't broke 200 yet. Which is fine, cuz my goal is to have the greatest 'working' collection I can- I want to be able to have someone who's never played games before come by, and be able to go from Pong to PS2, and play some of the best games that game out. And turn into an RPG player becuase that's my fav and what I have the most of.

I'm middle of the road as far as game collections go. I have about 150 games, but they are all ones that are good. My money goes towards my Star Wars collection, rather than my games. If these load to slow, let me know and I will make them links rather than the smaller images. And also, this is not where I play my games. I play on a 32 inch TV in the living rome. I expect the parent's basement comments, and they are true, but I am still in High School so it's ok.

Nice Star Wars collection!
I used to be a hardcore collector myself, but I gave up a few years back when I couldn't find a SINGLE NEW FIGURE for months at any local stores and the prices started getting above $6 a figure.
I have every figure from the 97 POTF2 line up through the AOTC line (at least up to the summer 02 releases) except Jorg Sacul. I might have some old pics lying around on my PC......I'll see what I can find.

I have a huge Star Wars CCG collection.... not sure what the total worth is, but should be in the thousands.
