Welcome to the new new clan thread! Clan practice schedule:

TUESDAYS: 8:30 P.M. CENTRAL - EVERYONE IN THE CLAN IS WELCOME. WE WILL PLAY LARGE CUSTOM GAMES WITH WHOMEVER SHOWS UP, SPLITTING THE ROOMS UP WHEN THEY GET FULL. STAFF MEMBERS WILL LEAD, AND WE WILL PERIODICALLY HAVE NEWBIE TOURS ON THE SIDE.

WEDNESDAYS: 8:30 P.M. CENTRAL - EVERYONE IN THE CLAN IS WELCOME. WE WILL BREAK INTO GROUPS OF EIGHT OR FOUR AND PLAY MATCHMADE GAMES (TEAM SLAYER AND BTB). EACH GROUP WILL BE LEAD BY A STAFF MEMBER.

THURSDAYS: 9:30 P.M. CENTRAL - THE 'ELITE' CLAN MEMBERS (WHOM LEDHED, ZEWONE AND MYSELF DEEM APPROPRIATE) WILL PLAY CLAN MATCHES. THE REST OF THE CLAN IS ENCOURAGED TO PLAY TOGETHER IN CUSTOM OR MATCHMADE GAMES.

Also Everyone talks about BTB and clan matches but I'd also like to play more team skirmish and team slayer matches. With a good team on those you can really rank up quickly because you only have to worry about three other people pulling their weight

well yea but its harder to get 8 solid clan members on at once than 4. If you want to just break off 4 guys and play team skirmish, go ahead

Sorry to see you go Mooky...Narnian...Harmaket... I had a great time playing with you the past few months in all those games. You were one of the first CAG’ers that I played with and I’m sure we’ve had our share of ridiculous games, thanks for the good times buddy! Hopefully we can still frag every now and then once you figure out what your plans are.

As for the new schedule, I think that it's a great idea. I know for all us east coast-ers, only beginning at 10:30 was rough the next morning. Also the Tuesday night training, Wednesday Matchmaking, and Thursday Clan Match seem much more efficient than what we've been doing previously. I'm sure the regulars will still play in all game types on most nights of the week, but to have three specific ones set aside for each type of playing is a definite plus.

About the cuts... If the staff would like to get more serious, then you would have to make a definite decision as to the guidelines for letting people join the clan, stay in the clan, and booting people from the clan. If the rules could be listed on the front page of these threads, members would know what they have to do to get in and stay in. Just be fair to current members and if cutting is going to become a regular thing, it must be adhering to the guidelines that are thought up.

Lastly, why not have practice last a set number of hours? I know that playing custom games is fun up until a certain point. Possibly make practice 2 hours long, and then once that times up, create invite-only rooms to do matchmaking in. This way everyone will get their fair share, and those who would rather play matchmaking won't have to sacrifice an entire night for a four hour long practice.

As a side note, I just found out when my classes will be meeting. One is late Thursday night, so I doubt I'll be able to help out on the Elite team. I know everyone was counting on my l337 skills :twoguns: on our long journey to total clan domination. I'm gonna speak to the Prof about this unfortunate scheduling conflict.

I think one of the challenges the clan faces is that the way we bring in people is not a normal way that it is usually done. I'm not saying its bad just saying different. Usually clans add people by seeing them online and after assesing their skills gives them a clan invite. The more elite clans even have tryouts where like only the top finisher gets an invite. The only requirement to join this clan is that you post on this board. My CS clan I was in had it pretty good. We had a server that was well moderated, therefore we had a lot of traffic since people like playing somewhere that they know cheaters will have the smackdown laid on them. Anyways to make my point is we would bring in people we had played with for months so we knew exactly what we were getting. I really believe this clan will be great if everyone settles down and lets themselves become familar with each other because it takes more than two months to make a good clan.

Here's a suggestion from an outsider ;-)

Cut to 16-20 Members...and make people play 10 games with the clan....if they work as a team, great keep them....if they dont....tell them they dont make the cut.

If you feel bad about telling people that, pay JimmieMac $50 to go to their house and put them in the hospital for a week....(tell him to break the fingers so they never play Xbox again)

You have alot of members who are GREAT players....but cant play a team game to save their life....I'll PM you with a list if you care to know.

I don't think rocksolid wants to cut people based on how they play. I asked and got no response so I would assume no.

I think those cuts came out from people who were non-active, or barely active.

I can vouch for Scorch's not being around being due to technicial difficulties with his broadband connection up until very recently, in conversations we've had among each other.

Two very fine ideas.

Knowing what keeps you in would be a very good idea, since I can only guess on what caused the cuts, which would be in activity. I'm sure a list of criteria wouldn't be that hard to figure out.

I'm up for two hours of practice as well, since that's a nice amount of time to get in a set agenda of things to practice, and from there, do something else.

If some of them don't know about things like arming the bomb, this would be time to give a crash course about it. It took me a while to understand those items, though for someone who doesn't do one type of game often, some instruction in the basics. Yes, that's pandering down to those that should know it already, though one instruction on it should be sufficient, on the lines of bringing them the instruction though not forcing them to learn. Easy enough to do something offline to practice those basics as well.


If not, remind them that there are books to cover those situations.

No, that kind of reminder should only be done during practice. Or casual games. And realistically, only a couple of times.

Clan matches, that behavior doesn't fly, at all. I agree 100% on that assessment. Anyone that needs that kind of a kick during a major clan match, that's disaster in the making.

Here is my apology for our internet fight before (they're my least favorite kind of fight). I really shouldn't have reacted that way no matter what you said. The fact that JimmieMac said something near the end of the other thread means that you obviously weren't alone, just the only one who would express his honest opinion. I'm sorry for everything I said and I hope that all can be forgiven and forgotten.

To the CAG clan leaders, you guys have been talking alot about changing it so the players that aren't as good will also get to play with CAGs, and it's good to see you guys want things to be changed. You guys have been doing a good job with the clan and it will hopefully improve with changes.

Oh, and that fragdoll thing was really funny. I was going to post something in that thread, but then I realized that I didn't want to join that forum at all, so I decided to do the lazy thing and not do anything. :)

and as for jimmiemacs list of people that should be cut (haven't seen it), but i am going to take a guess and say i'm on that list. if so then, its his opinion, but ask just about anyone, but in the week and a half i've been in the CAG clan, i've improved quite well in all aspects except for slayer, which i am working on. i know i am not the best player in the clan, but i bust my ass trying to play better. i enjoy playing with the clan and look forward to playing, but every time i get into a clan game, i am constantly remind of how horrible i am, and thats getting old. i can take the heat, but hearing it every damn time gets annoying.

Craven I have played with you quite a bit and you have improved a lot. You do have one strength you are on quite frequently which is great. I bet in a few weeks your skills will start to reflect it. Just stick with it and do your best its all anyone can ask. I think some people need to worry about their own skills and not worry about what other people are doing unless their are purposefully jacking up. We have the staff for a reason.

Yeah, I admit I havn't been playing much but I have been playing a little not at all. Probably 3pm to 4 or 5. I usually dont see anyone on and if I do there playing a different game like a ESPN game or madden. I logged on later one day and saw Murcielago77 and Led Hed. Well I hope I get back in the clan. My point is I play around 4 times a week or more. It's that I play for an hour or 2. Usually when no one is on either. And these past weekends I've been busy. When I wasn't busy I was on a lot and did clanmatches with teammates etc. All of that has been cleared up to. So if I get back in the clan that would be awesome. And I would be able to play more. :|

Popularity has nothing to do with it; presence, on the other hand, does. All of those people have made the effort and proven that they are interested in playing with the CAGs. There's nothing wrong with being a casual player. We aren't asking anyone to make important sacrifices for a video game. But if you can't at least make an appearance (be it online or here in the thread) to let us know what you're status is, than what would you have us do? This clan fills up pretty fast, and perhaps the new players are more willing to play with us than the people that we've never once seen online. Should we deny them the oppurtunity, just because someone else who isn't really interested in playing got here first?

here's how it's gonna be: for all you who got cut and now want back on the clan, this is your last chance. you've been sent invites again, but as you'll see from the front page you're on probation. if you don't start playing with us consistently, showing up for practice, etc., you gone. no hard feelings, but you shouldn't be in a clan if that's the case. i don't care if it's network issues, family issues, school issues, or your baby's on fire - you don't play with us, you're out. in fact, i suggest everyone periodically check the probation list, as it will now consist of the people who would usually go on the cut list. i'm not PMming everyone when they go on it, just keep up with it - you should be keeping up with the thread anyhow. i'll post when the list has been updated, but that's all the warning you're going to get. if you're on the list for more than a week or so you're gone, for good.

those of you who play with us regularly don't have to worry about having your name on the list. we will not be cutting people based on skill, only attendance (or inappropriate behavior). i'm still working on a new method of letting people in the clan - for now, it will remain as is, but not for much longer.

if you're a clan member you should be:
a) showing up for tuesday/wednesday practices as often as possible (thursday when invited)
b) hopefully play with us a bit during the rest of the week
c) following this thread daily
d) on your best behavior during games (if you're reported cheating, even if it's not with clanmates, you're out).

Well, I got booted and I guess it was well deserved, I know I don't play enough to warrent being in a serious clan, however, for anyone in the same shoes as me, maybe we can consider creating a casual clan. No cuts, no practices, I know the practice times for this clan didn't fit my schedule and I dont have any hard feelings about it. It says in the OP of this thread that those who don't play with the clan frequently will get kicked out so people who want in and want to play with the clan can get in. well guys, i know this is going to disappoint a few people, but i won't be making practices regularly for a while. i found out today that i was very fortunate and was the last person in my department to keep my job, so i won't be able to come to practices even at 9:30 local time, as this is when I leave for work. so if its any inconvience, let me know. i gotta make money somehow.

i think it'd be worth it to have a practice on the weekend. that way more people can play with other CAGs. i'd be able to make a late night weekend practice.

I'm not "coming at you," I'm merely trying to gauge your skill level by having a little shoot-out. You attacked a member of our clan and claimed to be one of the best players in our group, yet I have no reason to believe you since I have not (nor has anyone else) played with you since at least December 17th. If you're going to state supposed "facts," at least be willing to back up your yapping.

For the record, I hate head-to-head matches as well, but I'm half-asleep as it is and I figured it shouldn't be too hard to beat me in a match in my current state. But if you don't want to accept, I'll go to bed.

It says in the OP of this thread that those who don't play with the clan frequently will get kicked out so people who want in and want to play with the clan can get in. It has also said this in the 2nd and 3rd threads. Don't go throwing out words you're going to regret without knowing the facts. Also, from what you've said earlier, it seems to me that you're acting very childish about the whole matter. On at least two occasions I have heard you say that you're "better" than other people in the clan. Please think before you speak.

Once again, Trakan speaks the truth. The OP does say if you're not around with the clan, there's too many people who want in to keep around people that don't want to play with the clan. I played Halo 2 with him last night for three hours, and I'm glad he had my back and I had his. He does very well in his staff post and keeps us focused on the clan. You're not doing anything close to that, in fact, you're an irritating distraction. You're out for self-glory and that's not something the clan needs. Trakan isn't staff, and neither am I, so bitching to us isn't going to do anything except show us that you need some cheese with your whine.

Staff and the overlord set the rules. If you can't live up to them, go make your own clan, and come bring it when you do. We'll be happy to do clan matches with you and get things cleared up quickly. Just schedule it with the staff, which is a polite courtesy, if you can manage to think about dragging your knuckles a bit more.

Clans are for teamwork, for working with other people for a common objective. Working together. There's a hint, together and you seem to have issues sharing your toys with others. Does that go back to your childhood, where you didn't get enough love and need to take it out online?

I did play with the clan everytime I was on and others were on.After what the first week of me in the clan almost every night or every other night I was grouping with clan members.Zewon your one person who should vouch for this i was playing with you almost eveyr night along with Ryan W and others

listen: the other night ledhed, zewone and myself each made up our cut lists (people whom we thought should be cut for whatever reason, mostly non-attendance). people who were on all three lists were cut right away, such as you. personally i put you on my list because of your attitude in previous threads of not wanting to play with players who were at your level because it would affect your rank. i can completely understand that, it's just not an attitude welcome in this clan. and how is it that you can find time to bitch about being cut for en entire afternoon, but not show up for a single night of practice in the last month? in fact, don't answer that, it's rhetorical - you've wasted enough space in this thread.

I found nothing wrong with him other than that he'll dissapear. He did post up that he would be gone... If it were my decision, I would've sent him another invite but with all the commotion I don't know if he'd want to come back. Check egos at the door guys... I enjoyed playing with Big C whenever I did, and I believe that he would really be a great asset to the CAG Clan if he beings to show up and play with us some.

Big C, our clan has improved like you wouldn't believe since you last played with us seriously. We now have a great core group of gamers that has a chance in every firefight of a game I've seen to date. If things can be ironed out, and you can begin to work back in with the clan I believe your rank would improve even more. There are about 20 very serious and very skilled players that can play with anyone that you have not been able to play with because you were gone for so long. I hope you can work something out with Ledhed, he's a very nice guy and I'm sure you've taken him out of context, and get back into the clan and show your muscle with some people. I know you can play well and if you could only buckle up you could see how well the CAG has been doing for itself!

On the sniping subject...my gt is gaelan and i too suck at sniping. The ones who can snipe yea for you. The ones who get dug in and snipe me repeatedly :x

At practice (let me know what you all think about this), I think we should discuss/point out/map out the usual sniping spots. On some of the off practice games I have played, I will get sniped, pinpoint the position and then go hunt him down. At first this was hard, but now that I am more familiar with the maps and the positions these snipers like to nest in, it is getting easier. The easiest way to kill a sniper is to snipe him. Luckily your sniping skills don't have to be top notch since the other sniper is usually stationary...the key is to see and shoot first.

Anyways thought i'd throw that out since it is definitely one of my biggest improvements as of late (sniper hunting). I still suck at nesting and picking people off from a distance while moving, but I am dealing with it better now that I am getting better and countering the snipe.

Quick unpredictable movements an occasional jump that kind of stuff as long as its mixed up works well. Think of what people do that makes it hard for you to hit them. Arikado is really good at this watch what he does the next time he beats you in a close encounter. I swear he is harder to tag than a Nun.

Well i read MOST of the posts (we were at page 3 when i last checked like before practice) and -BigC- shut up, you arent in the clan anymore and get the hell over it. Good practice last night i guess. Rock sent me like 9 invites throughout the night and thats just a little much in my mind. I know it was because he sent clan-wide invites.

We played way too much Multi-Flag/CTF Wraiths on COAG last night. We did start to perfect the technique on Coag though (flag throwing on roof thing) We even played against Mr Jukes, creator of www.jukesbox.com

Agreed. Your first goal as a sniper should be to take down the enemy sniper or an enemy with the rocket launcher. After that, it's open game on anyone else in your line of sight.

Relocating is VERY important. I always move when I snipe. It's important to be able to aim while running and strafing. Once you're comfortable with that, get used to being able to aim while jumping. It can save your ass in many situations.

Also, if you manage to hit someone close range and their shields are down, don't waste another sniper round. Chances are if you're still learning the ropes as a sniper, you'll likely panic and won't be able to land the final shot. Just pull out your secondary weapon and finish the job that way.

Don't stay zoomed in for long periods of time. Zoom out and check your radar and your surroundings. If you stay locked in one spot and zoomed in all the time, either their sniper is going to find you and gun you down, or you're going to be whacked in the back of the head.

Even had a killing spree as well. And now I have a understanding of why people like the Plasma Pistol/SMG combo, as well as the Magnum/SMG combo. Since a good deal of my kills came that way.

It's like every friday night the asshat line stops at Tardsville station and they all wanna get thier bullshittery on in Halo2. Probably the worst night of gaming I've yet experienced. Several obvious cases of lag cheating, alot of 45 minutes sessions of hiding the bombs in overtime, tons of stalemates, few wins, tons of punkass kids cluttering up my night... I'll probably find something better to do on the weekends now and play weekday nights when those little shits have to be in bed when mommy says so.

No problem. People cheat by doing a glitch called "standby" and "dummy" these are 2 completely different cheats but you will see them a lot. Standby makes it so the person with the fastest connection is the only one in the game and can score/kill/arm whatever while everyone else is in the blue lag screen. Dummy is a cheat people use to score almost instantly on CTF. I don't want to explain how to use them so more people don't cheat.

To give people an idea of what they should look for in regards to cheats, without actually telling anyone how they work:

Modem/Standby

The person using the cheat will bottle-neck their connection, which makes it very difficult to upload their network info. In other words, it takes a very long time for your Xbox to know what he/she is actually doing in-game, because your Xbox simply isn't recieving the info anymore.

Eventually, your Xbox, along with anyone else not employing the cheat, will take you to the blue "Re-establishing game connection" screen. While you're staring at that screen, the cheater is wandering the map completely unchecked. By the time your connection catches up to the action, the cheater has usually taken your flag/planted a bomb/killed numerous people.

No. You still need the hog. The thing is you probably blew the hog up but the "dummy" still stays where it blew up even after the game removes the derbis from the field. The hog isn't there but he is. Hard to explain, but I hope you get it.

It might be time consuming but it's effective if only for taking out their cheapass sniper before he gets atop the seawall and maybe stealing one of their ghosts.

I think I saw someone I was playing with (non-clan, didn't know them, as we were tossed together in BTB) was trying that. Guy got into the hog, though tried to get out, and it almost looked like he was in the hog and out of it at the same time. Might've been the lag giving that impression, though the guy un the passenger seat seemed to be trying to pull of something like Ledhed and zewone described between them.

Whatever he was trying didn't work, since he was sniped pretty quickly afterwards.

Come to think of it, I would challenge Arikado one on one, would be an interesting game. Although one on one matches hardly prove who the better player is, as there are many factors which influences the outcomes of such games. Stress, pressure, lag, camping, any spectators may be distracting or perhaps helping one person out(picking up certain weapons, stealing powerups, delivering weapons, causing a commotion.) These types of matches prove only a few things: who can get to the better weapons the fastest, players knowledge of a particular map, and most importantly their tactics for a one on one atmosphere. I've played a few one on ones in the era of Halo 1, and the games are usually cat and mouse, one person runs the other pursues, then the roles reverse. If both contestants have the sheer determination to win a battle then the game can go on forever, usually one person will give up hope and the game ends quickly thereafter.

One on One capabilities boil down to who has the better weapons or perhaps the better mastery of the weapons. Real skill is a culmination of assessing your enemy, picking apart their defenses, exploiting their weaknesses, and most importantly being able to engage the enemy using strategy or tactics based on such skills. That opportunity is rarely afforded in a one on one game, perhaps due to the reason that you must first FIND the enemy :lol: , which usually ends with a SURPRISE, you're dead.

I don't think that the location of the Warthog is important, once the cheat has been successfully "started" (for lack of a better word).

I have witnessed this a couple of times, and have read a bit about it. I wont go into how it works (or how I think it works, since I haven't actually tried it), however, the counter isnt that difficult once you know what is going on. When someone is using this cheat they will remain on the map, appearing as a stationary opponent. If you go over and "touch" them (I prefer a shotgun blast to the head) the cheat is "broken" and they are returned to their body. If you are on a team with people that are trying to cheat, you can use the physical attack to fuck with their being successful (and you being associated with the cheaters).

From what I have read, the cheat is easiest to pull off with the Warthog, so look at vehicle spawn points for suspected cheaters. This is why others have sugested going to the beach in Zanzibar, for example, and killing any motionless opponents as soon as possible. However, I have read other accounts where the cheat was accomplished without the aid of a vehicle.

Thanks for the info. So can there be another reason that you get the blue screen and "Re-establishing connection" message, just poor network quality, host box quit the match, etc? I played a couple of hours of Rumble Pit yesterday afternoon and this happened in two games, once taking more than a minute to reconnect. I can't remember which games or if there was a person who was way ahead of everyone else or not after this, but now after reading your explanation I'm going to be on the lookout the next time this happens, unless of course there really are legit reasons that occurs.
