personally never liked Street Fighter all that much so that takes out 3/4 of Capcom's ranks. But I do like DarkStaker, Megaman and Jill

SNK makes some great games but they have made KOF their premiere series and it is not one of my faves.

Plus my dad keeps taunting me because he met a cop at the job he is working at and my dad mentioned that I wanted a Neo Geo, and he keeps driving home the fact that this guy has an awesome collection and it is starting to irriitate me as I want a Neo Geo really badly


plus street fighter II is still the definitive fighter. I have played the portable version to death, and have been an SF II fanatic since it came out

SNK, now more than ever. Capcom is abandoning 2d.

They invented the stuff Capcom gets credit for. Weapons fighting (Samurai Showdown), the crossover game (KOF), the special meter...

I really like both equally, each for their respective games, but if I had to choose it would have to be SNK. Samurai Showdown is my favorite 2d fighter since number 1 that isn't a crossover (i.e. versus series from capcom). I just wish that SNK would work with their other franchises and not only KOF.

Capcom for me. SNK has a lot of kick ass franchises but would rather dump out mediocre Metal Slug and KOF sequels more than anything else.

I vote for SNK cause not only do their fighters have balance, but they're the only company that cares for their 2D fighting fans. But most people keep trying to kick em' back down, or wont give them a chance. SNK is a tiny star in the 2D fighting midnight sky, while all other stars have burned out.

meanwhile, snk has made years and years of fighting games that are never taken serious on the tournament scene.

and what're the top tourney games? hmm... third strike, which came out in 1999. marvel vs. capcom 2, which came out in 2000. capcom vs. snk 2, which came out in 2001. yup... capcom made all those games, AT LEAST 4 YEARS AGO. and yes, capcom vs. snk 2 is a capcom-made game. with snk characters. snk characters done better.

it's okay though, snk made svc chaos... buwahahaha.

i don't wanna bash snk, because i like a lot of snk games. i play kof for fun, garou: motw, metal slug... but to say that capcom is inferior is stupid. especially with the argument that "snk sticks with its 2d fighting fans." if they love their fans so much, why don't they make a game better than third strike, which came out 6 years ago?

and i'll give you capcom fighting evolution. that game does suck. and capcom really is ditching its 2d fighting fans. but the fighting games they've already come out with are worth playing for a long long time.

I didn't say Capcom was inferior. I said I "LIKE" SNK better, because it fits my tastes as a 2D fighting fan. Anyways I have faith in SNK and I think they'll get their act togther and start making better game. I know they haven't released anything great in awhile, but atleast they're stickin' with it and I respect that.

Oh and all these tournements are in America were games like Halo 2 and GTA top the charts. We're very picky gamers, and anything outside the generic Shotken Hadoken Ryu is puching limits with most gamers skills. Go to Japan and they still have KOF tournements, trust me, I will when I go back this March.

SNK all the way. I grew up playing MVS games, b/c I couldn't stand Street Fighter 2 fanboys back in the day. I do love the Capcom VS/Darkstalkers series, but Street Fighter 2/3 don't do it for me. I'll take KOF or good old KING OF THE MONSTERS (BOO YA!) any day.

why are Capcom fighters more well received than SNK fighters? simple Capcom overproduced their fighters, pretty much saturating the market. SNK had to contend why making both Arcade AND home consoles, along with its (and even producing/manufacturing other party's) games.

I blame the tournament hoster(s) for not making SNK fighters one of there games, they dont want to bother taking a small 'chance' in adding a 'lesser known' game into their lineup

the fighting game scene is picky. certain capcom fighters are more well received because fighting gamers like them more. no one plays jojo and soon no one will play cfe. no one played ds3. tourney hosters won't add games that no one will play.

kof is not terrible, it's just not as good as like say third strike. and okay, i'll give you the fact that it's my opinion... but that's also the opinion of most fighting gamers. rodimus brought up a good point though... in japan, they do have a lot more tourneys for kof. but japan has a way larger fighting scene, and can afford to be more inclusive. in america, people are ditching fighting games, so we flock to the best ones.

i'm not a capcom fanboy, and i love 2d anything. i shelled out for the kof collection on ps2, and i own many of the kofs on dc. i've taken to guilty gear even if it does play too awkwardly for me. and i've been looking forward to neo-geo battle colosseum way way way more than i was ever looking forward to cfj.

i'm saying this as someone who likes fighting games, not as someone who likes street fighter... third strike is the best 2d fighting game ever.

This is just a touchy subject for any 2D fan. We should all just love everything we can get and not pick favorites, cause there isn't that much to pick from. :grouphug:

I like Capcom more than SNK. But, I do buy games from both companies, they make great fighting games!...:D
